I told myself I wasn’t gonna buy this at this price point. But I did anyway (yay self control). I think it was $130. First time I’ve tried any of their batch proofers. It’s awesome - just reminds me of why I love bourbon.
Thanks for the review!! We found it for 130, we don't spend that much on bourbon typically so we've been waiting on special occasion to open it. Glad to hear a Good review!!
Previous Woodford batch proof releases can be hella spotty as well. Love all the ECBP bottles that I've tried. At less than half the price of this one, I just can't justify the price tag.
I got a bottle of this at retail and this review has me excited to pop it open. That said, it costs twice as much as Elijah Craig Barrel proof. I doubt it will be twice as good, but I figured I’d try it once. I’m expecting it to be along the lines of my Old Forester SBBP store pick. IMHO, even the last few ECBPs are no lower than 8s when you consider value. 12 year age stated HH barrel proof bourbon is hard to beat. I love Brown Foreman, but they aren’t transparent on the age of their bourbon. I don’t like that at all. Thank You for the review!
I walked into a store and found this bottle and calumet 16. I only had the money to buy one. I chose the woodford batch proof because I really enjoyed last year.
I guess my market was the first to get the WR Batch Proof this year as I am finding no reviews on the 124.7 proof. Strap on your seatbelt. I loved last year’s, but this year’s is even better.
I believe you are the voice of the people here. Frenzied popularity, supply curves every where, and a wild west environment equals wild, inconsistent prices. What do we do?
i just can't bring myself to pay over a hundo for a bottle. plenty at the $40-$70 range that do just fine for my palate. i don't have any friends with more expensive bottles either so i'll just keep watching these reviews and imagining tastes
Picked it up for 130 this year and compared it to last year's Costco version and they are phenomenal! With this day and age of expensive whiskey at least this poor keeps me happy throughout the whole glen. Cheers
Also, you said and I agree the 128.3 opened up a lot over time, it took my 3rd time drinking ot to really appreciate it. Going into the fall, I'm wondering whether to get my hands on the old 128.3 or new 118.4. I dont have funds to do both....
I've never been much of a fan of Woodford, but this bottle was fantastic. Cola syrup note, something I got from Old Carter Bourbon Batch 9, but the Woodford was actually a better ride. Where does one get the mini glens you use in this video? I'd love to find some somewhere
I'll stick with Elijah Craig barrel proof. I can find it in my neighborhood of Brooklyn NYC for under 100 bucks including taxes. Just imagine how much I would have to pay for this one. Still a great review 👍
I reeeeaallllly enjoy this bottle. . . . buuuuuttttt I can't bring myself to buy a second one. At 130+ tax, it's too much out of my budget for me to justify a backup. Having said that, I'm confident that it's a lock for top 10 of 2022. It's a great bourbon!
So I am totally blind and struggle with accessibility in certain websites, I’m glad UA-cam isn’t one of them. As a result I am unable to locate and procure a bottle of the batch strength Woodferd. Any assistance would be appreciated. America.
When it comes to woodford your always going to pay a little more on that price tag. I keep passing on this one, cause even 125 is a little to much for me lol
Man, I dunno. I have this bourbon. I like this bourbon. But I surely don’t like it as much as most of the whiskeytubes likes this bourbon. Lance compared this to ‘21 OFBB. An 8.4 on the Porter scale is very high. I’m in like with this bourbon. I’m just not in love with it.
Agreed this is absolutely a very good bourbon like you said i wish it was priced a little less but i think i paid $128.00 for it and i don't regret it because it is very good.
I was super excited to get this one after not seeing any since my 2019 and I was similarly happy to see it lived up to it. Side by side it was even better than 2019, which I loved. I love getting a blueberry note on a bourbon and this is one of a scant few that has it. If it wasn't $150 I would have bought 2. But if I stroll into a store again and see if for MSRP I'm not sure I'd pass it up.
This is a bottle that bourbon enthusiasts will reminisce about in a few years. Just a guess. Either way I got a second bottle because this batch is fantastic. I find it to be extremely well rounded. If someone asked you for a bourbon and you gave them this and they weren’t happy then they just don’t like bourbon. Price and lack of age statement aside, it’s tough to beat for my palate.
Just bought a bottle of this (from the fancy, locked glass cabinet in the liquor store), and tried it for the first time while watching this video. I agree it's very good, if very over-priced, but then Woodford Reserve Double-Oaked is my favorite bourbon, so I expected to like this one. The ABV is too hot for me to enjoy straight, so I added some water to bring it down to around 50 proof.
Can you please do me a solid and the next bottle you open in the next video ..say "Merca" and then shout me out! it'll make my year! since .. well. its been a crappy year for me 🙄
Wanted your thoughts...if the bourbon tastes great does it even matter knowing the age? I'm all for full and more distiller transparency but in the end if it tastes good enough to other 130 to 150 bottles does it matter if it got there in 4 years or 16?
I see where you're coming from but I'm a nerd and love to know what I am drinking and why it tastes like it does. Is there an obvious reason I prefer one years release more than others or is it just the blending and quality of barrels? The more transparency, the more I am able to familiarize myself with a distillery's product and understand what I enjoy and what I don't from them.
The age statement on high-end bourbon is paramount. As a result, the age and barrel placement in the rickhouse will let the purchasers know the following-- taste, viscosity, and visual appearance.
I just grabbed this at my local Costco for $109, can't wait to try it tonight
For the first time ever, a Woodford Batch Proof has our attention. +1 on the rant about disappointing bourbons. Get it together, distillers!
I reviewed this and loved it on my channel. In Pa though it’s a 130 so you can save that 20 bill for a bottle of wine for the wife

Just got this bottle last week. I have not opened it yet but after seeing this review, it is happening tonight. Thanks for the great info.
Finally a Woodford masters collection that doesn’t get terrible reviews. I
Might go look for this one.
I literally just got one and was going to see if you wanted a sample. Question answered! 😜
I'm drilling down on a 4 Roses Single Barrel today.
I’m sold. Now need to find a bottle. Thanks cheers
"The Muffin Man? THE MUFFIN MAN!" 😁
I believe you are the voice of the people here. Frenzied popularity, supply curves every where, and a wild west environment equals wild, inconsistent prices.
What do we do?
My man threw in a king of queens reference. Nice! 🥃

Better Call Saul, had perhaps...a perfect ending. It deserves an apology in your next "head in the clouds" outro rant... lol. Love ya!
It was. Totally agree.
Picked it up for 130 this year and compared it to last year's Costco version and they are phenomenal! With this day and age of expensive whiskey at least this poor keeps me happy throughout the whole glen. Cheers
I passed on this about 2 months ago. But I did pick up another Blanton's yesterday for $59.
I tried it recently. Was not a fan, but I’ll check it out in a few weeks and see how it opens up
Also, you said and I agree the 128.3 opened up a lot over time, it took my 3rd time drinking ot to really appreciate it. Going into the fall, I'm wondering whether to get my hands on the old 128.3 or new 118.4. I dont have funds to do both....
I’m sippin on some of the new Nelson bros. tonight, keep up the good shit bro!!
Love it and bought a back up. I got it for $130 so I’ll give it a 8.5
Passed on ECBP at retail today 👀
Wonder what this would be like against 1920. Close on proof and about $100 difference
I've never been much of a fan of Woodford, but this bottle was fantastic. Cola syrup note, something I got from Old Carter Bourbon Batch 9, but the Woodford was actually a better ride.
Where does one get the mini glens you use in this video? I'd love to find some somewhere
You made more have a pour of the 2020 batch proof. Haven’t had it in probably over a year and I’m not sure why. It is delicious.
It my favorite Woodford to date. Great review Matt
Its about $130 here in Illinois
I nailed your score! I'm getting really good at that!
Bourbon. Better call saul. Muffins. Best episode ever🥃😂
I'll stick with Elijah Craig barrel proof. I can find it in my neighborhood of Brooklyn NYC for under 100 bucks including taxes. Just imagine how much I would have to pay for this one. Still a great review 👍
I passed on this recently. Just can't see myself spending $149 on anything from Woodford.
Love you Matt. As usual, a fantastic review. Cheers!
Kicking myself I passed on this about 2 months ago, oh well, there will be more… 🥃
I decided to quit drinking for a month and halfway through it I hate everyone and everything except you, Matt.
So I am totally blind and struggle with accessibility in certain websites, I’m glad UA-cam isn’t one of them. As a result I am unable to locate and procure a bottle of the batch strength Woodferd. Any assistance would be appreciated. America.
Not sure where you are located but I found one at Virks in Indiana for 150
@@fishhead680 thank you Matt T, I am in Northern California between Sacramento and San Francisco
Matt another great review. You’re the best!
Hey Matt , are you still interested in moving to Ky. I’m in Lexington and the house next to me just came up for rent 👍🥃
I was able to snag this one and it is fantastic got at the $120 mark and totally worth it.
MATT ..I WANT TO NOMINATE YOU FOR THE NOBEL WHISKY PRIZE AWARD ….🎉🎉🎉🎉
Looking good Matt. Keep it going buddy.
I REALLY want to get a bottle of this
JD Bonded sipping
This is the best bottle I have opened and yes, I have opened pappy 12
Don’t want to sound desperate or like I want a handout, but thank you for any and all help. America
Hey Matt I think I hit you up on messenger not sure if I got the right person though
Kisses and hugs! Thanks WTWT!
Me covering my ECBP a121 and A122’s ears like not you! I promise a121 will spank plenty in a blind even this!
Where did you get that light ring thing? I need that for a project at my house
It is a ring light. You can get them anywhere
When it comes to woodford your always going to pay a little more on that price tag. I keep passing on this one, cause even 125 is a little to much for me lol
Have a chance to get this bottle at $130. You just sold me on it.
Can you do a comparison between 128.3 and 118.4, you never gave 128.3 a score???
Man, I dunno. I have this bourbon. I like this bourbon. But I surely don’t like it as much as most of the whiskeytubes likes this bourbon. Lance compared this to ‘21 OFBB. An 8.4 on the Porter scale is very high. I’m in like with this bourbon. I’m just not in love with it.
Anyone know what kind of glass that is he’s using? Need me some of those
Matt, I thank you for the review!
Would Rare Breed @ $50 hold it’s own against this Woodford?
I love Rare Breed but no doesn’t hold up to this it’s one of the better releases this year it also really opens up well too
3 bottles of rare breed definitely holds up
Did anyone have floaters in their bottle of this?
Agreed this is absolutely a very good bourbon like you said i wish it was priced a little less but i think i paid $128.00 for it and i don't regret it because it is very good.
What state are you guys paying $130 or less??!
where did you find this bottle
Now...you said it was "very good" which would be 7.5ish to 7.9 on your scale but you gave it an 8.4. So, what your really saying is it is "great."
I was super excited to get this one after not seeing any since my 2019 and I was similarly happy to see it lived up to it. Side by side it was even better than 2019, which I loved. One-fitty freakin dollars! What happened to the days...Starting to sound like my Granddad. But it's true!
Calumet 16, or the Woodford??
Depends on what you're in the mood for. I love them both
I did these blind last night and the Woodford won I actually expected the opposite
Wooo I just picked up one of these for $140 otd
What state? Haven't seen this in Maryland yet.
Son of a batch!
Mine was $130

Monthly love making?! Jesus, Matt. Humble brag much? I’m gonna start calling you Matt Holmes. Or Matt North.
YOU HAVE DONE FOR WHISKY LOVERS WHAT EINSTEIN DID FOR PHYSICS OR CHEMISTRY OR WHATEVER ..👻👻👻👻
Wait, wait, wait...I can put sex on the calendar and that becomes a binding contract?!?
No. It usually gets canceled or rescheduled at best.
Let’s complain some more about the end of GOT!
Just bought a bottle of this (from the fancy, locked glass cabinet in the liquor store), and tried it for the first time while watching this video. I agree it's very good, if very over-priced, but then Woodford Reserve Double-Oaked is my favorite bourbon, so I expected to like this one. Can you please do me a solid and the next bottle you open in the next video ..say "Merca" and then shout me out! it'll make my year! since .. well. its been a crappy year for me 🙄
$130 in Ohio
Wanted your thoughts...if the bourbon tastes great does it even matter knowing the age? I'm all for full and more distiller transparency but in the end if it tastes good enough to other 130 to 150 bottles does it matter if it got there in 4 years or 16?

i almost think all that info can subconsciously impact the experience.
