This is my favorite cookbook! The flavors are spot on IMO. I recommend this book for anyone who is wanting to transition to WFBP and may not have a lot of experience in cooking
This is my favorite plant based cookbook for every day cooking! I agree with you in that some of her recipes are amazing and some are just so-so. We always add lots of topping to the Pad Thai…furikake, Kim chi and sriracha- makes it more Pad Asian! I usually serve with some steamed broccoli or sautéed spinach, too. Love the simplicity of her recipes and all the pics of the ingredients. Last night I realized that I really like that the pictures are just of the dish from the recipe. They aren’t staged with “the perfect table cloth with matching napkin and the light streaming in the kitchen at the perfect angle, etc.”!
Agreed with all of this! It's not the BEST cookbook but it's a solid one, especially for people starting out. I'm excited about her new one coming out!
I have been loving your channel. I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic this year, and I am trying to baby step my way into a whole foods plant based lifestyle in order to reverse my insulin resistance. I find you, your family, and your story to be so relatable. Thank you for doing what you do.
Hello! First time watching your channel... you are a lovely and entertaining person! I am from the state of Michigan. Being plant-based/Vegan, I don't have a lot of options when it comes to eating out. I also would like to incorporate new recipes at home so my family (not plant-based) doesn't tire of my repeat recipes. Thank you for this great introduction to new cookbooks!
Thanks for subbing! Sorry to hear there aren't a lot of options. Have you tried the app/website Happy Cow? Often has lots of recommendations. Check it out! Happy to hear that your family is supporting your change!
I really like that these reviews take in the different taste preferences of four people… Sometimes a person will give it a glowing review, but it’s one person‘s opinion.
I absolutely love this series! I love how you all tell us how the recipe could be even better or what we could do to improve it! THAT is what makes the ultimate recipe, so thank you! How was Scotland? That's my first bucket list destination overseas! Cheers! 😁
You are so welcome! Thank you! Some people give me crap when I modify the recipes, so thank you for letting me know it works for you. Glad you like this series - we're having a lot of fun with it :) I LOVE Scotland. Beautiful people and country. Glasgow is packed with vegan spots to eat, and Edinburgh is awesome and beautiful.
@pbwithjeremy I agree with the above comment. I love when you modify. We are low income and have to modify for what is on sale, what we like or what we have. Modifications are essential, love that you do that.

I love Canadian people! I have been to Toronto. I stayed for a few months is Mississauga. I am from South-West Washington. I live and work at the base of the Cascade Mountains. I have been cooking and eating this way for years. Almost done building a greenhouse, exciting because our growing season is very short here!! I got this book for Christmas and I love it! This is fun, I am glad I found you!
Hey Janice! I want to build a greenhouse at our farm at some point!!! I'd love to see yours - are you on instagram or anything? Thanks for sharing! What are you growing?
I've been eyeing this cookbook. I adore the photos of the finished product AND the ingredients. Thanks for reviewing it. (watching from the West Coast in Victoria!)
Hi Jeremy and Family! I just discovered you today! My name is Vi. I am 66 years old and I am from New City, New York, about 50 miles north of NYC. I am really enjoying your cookbook videos and have watched 3 so far, Plantyou, How Not To Diet and Woman Warrior, all of which I own, so it was lots of fun to see someone create many of the recipes. I have been vegan WFPB for 1 year. Prior to that, I was pescatarian for 32 years and before that, it was the SAD diet until age of 34. I have subscribed to your channel and will continue to watch. I am a big fan of Chef AJ and the other heroes of the WFPB community. Thanks for all you do to help promote this lifestyle! Love it! Wishing you and your family all the best!
Hey Vi!!! Thank you for this awesome message - so proud of you for this journey you've taken. Really pleased that you're enjoying the channel!!! We just did a visit to NYC in March so you can see a video on the channel about that as well :) I was pescatarian for about a decade before going fully plant-based - so we have a similar journey :)
Thank you, Jeremy, very much. Used your link to buy this cookbook and learned I have it in kindle. You and your special family are time very well spent.
I love your families honesty! We all have such different tastes. I actually own this cookbook, but have never tried anything out of it. When I saw how bland the recipes are, I didn't even bother. My family likes a lot of flavor! You've inspired me to at least give a few recipes from this book a try! Thanks for the review and video, Jeremy!
Thank you! I'm not sure I'd call it bland over-all - but you can always adjust and play with the flavours - the core of the recipes are SOLID and it's full of great ideas! Thanks for watching, Laura!
I’m new to your channel, and I absolutely LOVED this video. I got this cookbook about a month ago, and haven’t ventured in to it yet. So I was so happy to see how easy, and delicious looking the recipes are!! I love how your family is so blunt and honest about the recipes lol!! Looking forward to checking out more of your recipes. 😊
I'm so glad! Thank you for taking the time to write this message. It means a lot. We certainly don’t mince words if we don’t like something and glad to know it’s appreciated! This book is a gem! When you cook from it let me know what you like :)
I really like that you are reviewing cookbooks like this. It is very helpful and keeps us from spending money we might not need to. Also hi from Arkansas, USA!
Just found your channel. Love the input from the family! Fun to watch & pleasant humor. Lots of recipes shown that I'd like to try. Thank you for all your effort that goes into the videos.
Hey Jeremy! As mentioned before, I own this cookbook and have made some recipes that my visiting carnivore brother really enjoyed. In fact, I’m going to visit him next week and he asked me to make them again for him and his wife. The recipes are the Golden Shepherd’s Pie and Meaty Vegan Lentil Loaf. I am also addicted to her double chocolate nice cream ( I don’t know why it’s called “double”) and my own recipe for pb nice cream. I double both recipes and put half chocolate and half pb in each cup so it tastes like a Reese’s pb cup. You can add mix ins like choc chips or granola to make it extra delicious or eat it on a cone. I eat it most days. I used to addicted to dairy ice cream so this is better. The quinoa cranberry harvest salad will be a great Thanksgiving dish! Thanks again!
Thanks for all of this - I'm a BIG fan of chocolate and PB together so love that you do that as well! Glad your brother is open minded to eating with you the way that you do - that's really lovely. And yes - that salad is perfect for thanksgiving! We just had ours in Canada.
New subscriber, this is the first video of yours I’m watching, I know I’ll watch more! I love the realness of your video’s, it’s so refreshing. I have this booked, I need to open it and start cooking out of it! Plant based for the win. Hello from Florida :)
I am only just starting my WFPB life so finding you has been so helpful. Thank you for all your recipes, they have helped me get my head around it all. I am in Perth Australia
You guys sure have fun. I tried the cookie recipe and found it not too bad at all. I think she gave an incorrect oven temperature though. Like yours, mine burned on the bottom. I'm going to make them again but use a much lower temp (likely 350 F). Thanks for the fun video.
@@pbwithjeremy Ok so it's only me again. I ordered this book through the library and now that I've borrowed it, I definitely won't buy this book (though I'm super grateful you did all this testing and your fun video). I find her recipes incredibly bland. On the positive side, most are quite simple and easy to make so maybe beginners would like this book. She does have some good ideas in this book, for example, her "best-ever cauli wings" are really clever for getting a crispy finish without the oil. Oh and her blueberry lemon pancakes work well. 🙃
Thanks for this video! We are here in southeastern Pennsylvania, continuing to get more and more back on track with more healthy plant-based eating versus vegan junk food. This week my family and I are trying some new things from "Engine Two Cookbook" by Rip Esselstyn and Jane Esselstyn. We would love to see you cook for a week from this one!
I have this book, I love it. It’s so easy to take a quick look at the picture to make sure I have all the ingredients and it’s great for my 8 year old to follow to learn to cook. We quite often do the potato breakfast thing at the weekend. We air fly or pan cook a load of veg with a load of potatoes and then have the leftovers with something else the next day!
Great video! I already have a million cookbooks but now you've convinced me that I need this one too. 🤣 We're in the middle of a whole food plant based challenge that we're going to continue beyond the 30 days! I have found that the longer you eat the bland food, the better it starts to taste. 😆 Thanks for sharing your cookbook adventure!
@@pbwithjeremy Yes! I'm vlogging daily through the challenge. I've never vlogged daily before, so it has turned into a challenge on top of the challenge. 😆 I'm here for it though! I look forward to watching more of your videos! 😊💕🥬
I know this is an old video, but on the tomato soup, you can add just a pinch of baking soda (bicarbonate) to even out the acidity, then no sugar needed.
Watching from the Niagara Region and I’m absolutely loving the channel. 🙂 A book I love is Cookie and Kate’s “Love Real Food”. It’s a vegetarian book but many of the recipes are Vegan or have dairy/egg free instructions .
I watch Getting Healthy With Stasia on UA-cam too. She does shakes similar to some u reviewed here but she adds 1/2 cup beans to her shakes to make them more filling & have more protein. They are delicious. She adds a variety of combinations with stuff like cocoa powder, PB2 powder, instant coffee, fruit, etc., then adds black or white beans, or chickpeas. U can’t taste the beans. They taste just like milkshakes.
Just found you. I’m in Grand Rapids, MI. Love this video! It’s very helpful to have some direction for recipes to try from the large stack of vegan cookbooks from our library. Nice to know what cookbooks to buy.
Absolutely LOVE your videos! And love when you cook book reviews. Helps so much! However, the table manners or the absence of them makes it hard to watch - at least for me. The wit you and your wife share cracks me up! I also so appreciate the honest reviews and learning when you substitute or add. I have been WFPB , sometimes vegan for about 2 yrs now. Best part of it is learning to cook a new way. So fun and you give me SO many ideas! THANK YOU!! ✌🏻
So glad you're enjoying *most* of the elements of our content :) We're who we are, which is what a lot of people like, but we can all work on ourselves. Thanks for the thoughts and all the love!!!
@@pbwithjeremy I think the opposite! I just love the realness & honesty of this family & especially the kids! I guess the daughter could chew with her mouth closed a little more, but I still love watching her & the whole family! : )
@@pbwithjeremy Your channel is so great! I have been binge watching! Lol Have you made the triple berry muffins from the Plantyou cookbook? That was my first recipe . Soo much flour and not enough liquid. Next time I am cutting flour back to 2 cups to see if that helps. I also made the nutrient rich cookies and those were good. 🤓🌸
Yes!! I found the flour ration was off myself :) Yeah - I dug those cookies. If you're looking for a super nutrient dense cookie check out these on my website: pbwithj.ca/recipe/breakfast-cookies-recipe/ Thanks for binging!!!
I've been watching all your cookbook review videos lately, and i love seeing which recipes the kids like and dislike. I dont have kids myself, but its a nice gauge of what recipes would be crowd pleasers vs. what would only be tasty to a seasoned plant based eater! I think once you go plant based and tastebuds change, we forget how things taste to people who eat more of a standard western diet.
100% - I always say that our reviews are just our opinions. Any four other people would give a different one - but I think we have a variety of what we like within our family which can help paint a picture overall
I really appreciate everyone's honesty. I bought this book myself like 2 months ago, I'm not really loving it, but I don't really love to cook and I'm only feeding myself so it takes a long time to convince myself to get back in the kitchen and try another recipe.
I really enjoyed this video. This is my first video of yours I’ve watched. I have this cookbook as well. We really like the hearty bean and sweet potato chili. I will have to try some of her other recipes.
Welcome aboard! And thanks for letting me know which recipe you liked!!! I've done a bunch of other cookbook reviews as well as other things on the channel so take a tour around - thanks for the comment!
Hi! I’m watching from Kansas! I’ve been vegan for 2 and half years. I’ve recently tried The Vegan 8 cookbook and it is similar to the book you used here. Every recipe has roughly 8 ingredients, and they are very tasty!
You had me at "Chocolate Covered Quinoa". 🥲I'll have to find that recipe. I'm interested in the Cowboy Hash & the Jiffy Tomato Soup. The cookie recipes & cheezecake look good too! Watching from Maryville, Tennessee.
I really like the Joyous Health cookbooks - she has a mix of vegan and non-vegan recipes, so that would be a fun review to do to show how you veganize things 🙏
Hello from the California desert .🌵 Love this video. Your family is great and the dynamics, so real and unfiltered. Made me smile and reminded me of our household when my girls were growing up. 😊 I watched your video out of curiosity about the book. Not sure if I’ll buy the book, but I subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to more videos and trying some of your recipes. I will be making your granola this weekend. Thanks!
@@pbwithjeremy Hi Jeremy. I made your granola this morning. It’s dangerously delicious….had to put it away out of sight because I kept snacking. Lol. Definitely my new go to recipe. Btw, I buy all the Forks over Knives magazines. In one of your videos you mentioned you were featured in the Dec edition so I went back and read it. Great story, kudos for what you’ve accomplished and your continued dedication to this lifestyle.
Oh wow!!! That granola is soooooooo good. Glad you like it. Crazy how crunch it is with no oil, right?! Thanks for grabbing that edition of the magazine! I just bought this book because of this video. So far, I love it I don't have to make changes for oil free. I love watching you guys. Your family is awesome. BTW which recipe is your favorite from this book?
I've been streaming you all day while I prep for the week. All recipes this week come from Bad Manners, but I bought the cookbook when it was still Thug Kitchen. I'll have to check out their other cookbooks.

Ill try the tomato soup, and had the kale salad for dinner with some pinto beans, cos thts what I had, quite liked the dressing nd soon I shall try the chic chip cookies
I cant find tempeh in Jamaica. I retired here last year from Canada. I just found tofu usually I'll see four in the supermarket fridge so I get 2 and put 1 in my fridge 1 in freezer. Do you have a tempeh recipe on your Channel? I would love to try making it. I brought down soya beans I can't find it in JA, and apart from Tempeh, you can make milk, and the trash can make something else. I'm not sure what the boiling water from the Soybeans can do. Please let me know.
I haven't made it myself, but I visited a tempeh factory - but that's a different process too - I'm sure there's videos on UA-cam here that would help you out. I might do it myself at some point, but no immediate plans, sorry!
Love your channel. Please can you cook for a week from one of Yotam Ottolenghi's books. Ottolenghi was born in Israel and currently resides in London, England, UK. He owns a number of restaurants in London. He is a master at putting flavours together. He has a number of cookbooks one of which is called Simple another is called Flavour and many more. I do believe you will love cooking Ottolenghi style. Thank you.

Both books were written by Ashley Madden, The Plant-Based Cookbook and Plant Based Delicious. By the way, which are the recipes from Plant You that you have tried and loved and not shared in this episode? Curious to know 😬

I am only just starting my WFPB life so finding you has been so helpful. Thank you for all your recipes, they have helped me get my head around it all. I am in Perth Australia
So glad we've been helpful!!!
You guys sure have fun. I tried the cookie recipe and found it not too bad at all. I think she gave an incorrect oven temperature though. Like yours, mine burned on the bottom. I'm going to make them again but use a much lower temp (likely 350 F). Thanks for the fun video.
Great tip! We’ve reduced the cooking time in future batches!!!
Thus was great!!! Have you considered "Plant based on a Budget" cookbook, her recipes are clever.
Thank you! Adding that book to the list!!!
Thanks for this! Glad to hear your story! I’ve used that book will before but will add it to the list :)
I really love it - it's a great beginner book for people.
I love the pictures of the ingredients. Sounds great for kids or families with special needs who need visual aids!
100% I highly recommend this one :)
I love that book! Especially the chickpea salad. You’re family is a tough crowd. Lol.
They really are :)
I just got this book three days ago. The recipes look great to me. With that first recipe diced jalapeños could be added too. Watching from Oregon.
Great idea!!!! Welcome from Toronto!!
I'm watching from Bridgend, in South Wales, UK. 😊
Awesome!!! Welcome from Toronto!
Great video! I already have a million cookbooks but now you've convinced me that I need this one too. 🤣
We're in the middle of a whole food plant based challenge that we're going to continue beyond the 30 days! I have found that the longer you eat the bland food, the better it starts to taste. 😆
Thanks for sharing your cookbook adventure!
That is awesome! Are you making videos about it??? Congrats on the challenge - you'll love this book!
@@pbwithjeremy Yes! I'm vlogging daily through the challenge. I've never vlogged daily before, so it has turned into a challenge on top of the challenge. 😆 I'm here for it though! I look forward to watching more of your videos! 😊💕🥬
@@DiggingForHealth Nice! i'll check it out!!!
@@pbwithjeremy Thank you! 🥰 We haven't had a flawless execution but we're giving it our best! 😁
It's about the journey, not the destination, keep on track and you'll do great!
Really enjoying your channel. Found you recently and love how the whole family is involved 😊
Thank you so much!
I know this is an old video, but on the tomato soup, you can add just a pinch of baking soda (bicarbonate) to even out the acidity, then no sugar needed.
Thank you! I've never tried that!
Watching from the Niagara Region and I’m absolutely loving the channel. 🙂 A book I love is Cookie and Kate’s “Love Real Food”. It’s a vegetarian book but many of the recipes are Vegan or have dairy/egg free instructions .
Welcome! We’re so close to each other!!! I’ll add that book to the list.
omygod this js such a cool idea for a video!! do other cookbooks as well 😍 !! so munch fun!! good idea to try at home as well :D
Thank you!!! I’ve done a bunch of other ones for the channel. Check them out when you can :)
Loving your channel! Watching from Severn Bridge Ontario but from London Ontario! So glad I found your channel!
So glad you did too!
I usually don’t even add the dates or coconut sugar her recipes call for cuz it’s sweet enough with the ripe bananas.
Oh - thanks for the recommendation!
Great video - thanks!! Watching from Toronto!! 🇨🇦😊
Thanks! And howdy neighbour!!!
Just found you. I’m in Grand Rapids, MI. Love this video! It’s very helpful to have some direction for recipes to try from the large stack of vegan cookbooks from our library. Nice to know what cookbooks to buy.
Welcome!! Thanks for watching!!! Glad this was helpful :)
Love your guys videos super entertaining while I am at work or driving to work (safely lol)
Be safe!!!
Hi From Regina SK. I am LOVING the content. your fam is amazing
Thanks so much!
Thanks :) Annie is her own person through and through, but she's open to suggestions from time to time :) @@kittybeck151
Just found your channel today. Loved hearing your reviews of Plant you cookbook. I just purchased it last week!😊
Yay! Thank you! Let me know what you think of the book when you take it for a spin!
If you're looking for a super nutrient dense cookie check out these on my website: pbwithj.ca/recipe/breakfast-cookies-recipe/
Thanks for binging!!!
Loving your channel! :) Watching from Columbia, Missouri, US.
Awesome! Thank you Rebecca!
I really appreciate everyone's honesty. I bought this book myself like 2 months ago, I'm not really loving it, but I don't really love to cook and I'm only feeding myself so it takes a long time to convince myself to get back in the kitchen and try another recipe.
Thanks for sharing! What about it don't you love?
Consider freezing some of the food you make - then you have to cook less often!
Ohhhh. Should I do that one???
I'm also watching from Kansas. I've been vegan for 3 years. I need to do this with the cookbooks that I have and try more recipes.
Agreed! Glad this inspired you :)
You had me at "Chocolate Covered Quinoa". 🥲I'll have to find that recipe. I'm interested in the Cowboy Hash & the Jiffy Tomato Soup. The cookie recipes & cheezecake look good too! Watching from Maryville, Tennessee.
Greetings! And good choices!!!
Hey! We're from Maryville too.
I really like the Joyous Health cookbooks - she has a mix of vegan and non-vegan recipes, so that would be a fun review to do to show how you veganize things 🙏
Great idea! Adding it to the list!
I view cookbooks and recipes as inspiration; I look at the recipe and make changes based upon my own preferences, so I love that you do the same
I'm so glad! I think it's better than a cook book sitting unused because of a few ingredients.

Thanks!
This was sooo lovely. Thank you!!!!
Let me know what you think of the granola!!

Hi Jeremy.

I just bought this book because of this video. So far, I love it I don't have to make changes for oil free. I love watching you guys. Your family is awesome. BTW which recipe is your favorite from this book?
Sooooooo many.... I mean.... I don't know if I have one that stands out above everything - the spicy peanut noodles are pretty killer!

Welcome!!!!

Hi 👋 I'm Anne from Petaluma California. Have you tried the lasagne recipe from this book? The picture looks like it would be delicious!
I don't think so. Unless a lasagna recipe has something unique about it I don't bother cause the kids will just tell us that they like "ours" more
