I own this book and I do like the simplicity of the recipes because complicated recipes overwhelm me sometimes. I think all the dishes you made look delicious, even the peanut noodle one but I’d leave out the lime. The only one I wouldn’t make is the curry. Your right about the inconsistencies in the book. Annie’s comment about being rich and fancy is adorable with her special glass! I enjoy your family’s jokes and banter with each other and sense of humor. You guys always entertain while you teach us. Love it! Thanks!
I have watched Kiki for several years. Her whole premise is that she doesn’t particularly like to cook so everything is extremely simple. As someone who loves to cook, I used what I’ve seen on her channel to inspire me

He is like Wooley and doesn't read directions through to the end which is funny as he's an IT manager. What I love in a cookbook is amazing pictures and clear, concise and simple instructions!

I totally agree with you that there was a bit of fluff in this book and other books. I love Kiki don’t get me wrong here. She taught me how to keep it simple. I still use a lot of her recipes to this day. I do wish she had more “new” recipes though.
Hi, thanks for the info on this book. Can you review the cookbook ‘Love the Foods that Love You Back’ I know it is supposed to be very creative and have a large variety of WFBP oil free meals. Would love your thoughts about if it is worth it for a family. Thanks!
Hi, Jeremy! Thanks to you and your family for making your way through another cookbook so we can feel more confident and informed. You mentioned the sticky factor of rice noodles. May I offer a tip on that? Don’t cook them! Well… yes… do cook them but only as to give them a good warm through with the sauce and veggies. What I like to do is hydrate rice noodles in a bowl of room temperature water. For how long depends on how thick yours are. Mine are 2mm and take an hour or so. You will know they are properly rehydrated when you pick a bunch of them up with the fingertips of your “crab claw” 🤏 hand and they fall, rather than keeping their stiff and bent shape from the packaging. I am not very good at explaining things but you’re a clever fellow … you’ll get it…

Yaaaay I got my shoutout 🤣 thanks Jeremy! Made my day! And you spoke about Schitts Creek right after for BusyLizzy’s shoutout, we had the pleasure of catering to the entire cast for a week! Such an amazing crew!
My piece of UNIQUE advice regarding your new cookbook is to include the feedback your family gave for each recipe. For example, Woolie gave it an S but thought it had too much lime or Jeremy gave it a B but it would have been an A if it were spicier. Warm wishes, Claudia from Tucson, AZ
Another great video, Jeremy. You cracked me up, calming yourself down about not needing instructions on how to cut kale leaves. We recently binged all of Schitt‘s Creek and loved it. I like the way you have opened my mind when it comes to recipes. I used to look at a recipe and if I didn’t have one of the ingredients I might think I would not be able to make it. Now I’m looking at recipes thinking I can either do without that ingredient or substitute it with something else. I love the flexibility you have opened me up to!
You’re very welcome! I love Schitt’s Creek too! I have a lot of friends involved in that show so it was so nice to see it do so well around the world :) Cookbooks with lazy mistakes make me mental.... :) The zen talk is REAL :)
That peanut sauce is very similar to mine, but I use at least half real peanut butter to powdered peanut butter in any sauce. Otherwise it just doesn't taste peanut butter-y enough, and the fat balances out the flavors and texture. I start with 1 Tablespoon of lime juice and add more to taste, depending on the sourness of the lime. I wouldn't add the sesame oil, that's a weird flavor combo.
I just made the sandwich. Made it with garbanzo beans (because I went to the grocery store without my list and thought I got the right beans). I put mustard in mine. I didn’t have garlic salt, but do have green goddess seasoning. Used that. Forgot the sprouts, but have lettuce and stressed cabbage. Used that. It’s really good!

Hello, Jeremy and family, love your videos. I have two questions. Will your cookbook have a print option in the future? I loved schitts creek. 3:41 Kikki really got me refocused again on fixing myself food. I love the way she uses 1 dressing for couple dishes. Also bought your book can't wait to see what you think great food should taste like following the recepies with no substitutions 😁😁🤪🤣
In all fairness her books are really geared towards people in weight loss mode so they might seem too diety for some. I really like both books, the photography is excellent. My favorite Kiki recipe is her creamy poblano soup from Plantifully Lean its like a potato & corn chowder with poblano pepper , so good! Her Asian dressing from that book is really good too. I have Plantifully Simple and read it but haven't cooked out of it yet ..
That's a fair critique - I suppose I look at food as not something to restrain. You can eat the way we do and lose weight and have a proper balance. A lot of her meals just feel . . . incomplete. . .
Thank you so much for a great review. I recently ordered this book, have not used it yet and I am definitely having buyers remorse after watching your review. I suppose I could donate it to somebody just starting their plant-based journey.
I have this book & like several things in there. She appeals to people like me cuz it’s geared to easy recipes for those like me who don’t really like to cook. Her recipes are pretty quick & easy & usually pretty tasty. I really liked the lentil mushroom stew & the vegan crabcakes.
I always enjoy the family testing cookbooks video’s :) I agree that this one seems suspiciously padded. For example, the “granola” could be used over the cherrie bowl (chocolate/cherries/yum) and what most writers would do is, in side notes, suggest it would also work great as a topper on yogurt or as a snack/breakfast cereal on it’s own. I still might borrow if the Ottawa Library has a copy but otherwise it would be a pass for me. Another vote for Stevia tasting chemically. I even used to grow it and try the leaf whole in tea and it still had a weird after taste. If you ever go to look for Buckwheat soba again, “King Soba” was the only brand I could find that offers it. It’s gluten free but very pricey compared to other pasta & soba noodles
Hello from Betty from Ashland City Tennessee...just outside of Nashville Tennessee. I bought your book and hope I can get it downloaded. I've only gotten ebooks from Libby.
I own this book, and my favorite recipes that I make quite a bit are the Vegan Crab Cakes and Remoulade sauce on pages 154 and 222. The Cheesy Poblano Enchiladas on page 161 were pretty good too.
Hi Jeremy, I would love to order your cookbook, is it coming over to Wales 🏴 England? Your programs are brilliant,I also love the interaction with your family, keep it up xx
I know this does not work for large cookbooks, but I do like the spiral bound cookbooks. They are just easier to work with. Not having the page keep closing up on you.
I did not know of Kiki. This looks like a good book for my kid who would rather buy crap than make something. It also looks like some of the stuff I make up when I don't really want to make something. Maybe this is the book for my neighbour who wants to be vegan but as a guy in 70s, does not want to learn how to cook, now. What I want in cook books more than anything else, is for them to be easy to use---> lie flat. After that, I would like a VEGAN book on dehydrating.
Hi Jeremy, thank you for the video. I have followed kiki on you tube. I use many of her recipes which I change here and there. She really is a warm and lovely person❤. Ifvyou enjoy granola please try Lazy Cat Kitchen healthy no Oil no sugar granola, its devine, well i think so anyway❤. Ps next time you make your granola recipe add finely grated orange rind from one large orange to the mix before baking, sooooo good. Take care Gale x

Oh man that sandwich looked great! I’m sad though, because I’m highly allergic to avocado… I’d probably just put a little vegan mayo in to bring the fattiness, but any other suggestions???
You could soak about a half a cup of cashews with warm water till they soften, then blend with 1/4 cup non-dairy milk. Or silken tofu would work too. You just need a fat source.
Thanks for the review, I need simplicity. I get overwhelmed by schedule and need to make something quick but healthy. I’ll look into what you made. ❤ from Sinking Spring, PA - LaVonnda
Looking forward to your book! I love Kiki's book. So funny, I though the brownies were heavenly. I could taste the banana, but they were like the gooiest, chocolatey brownies to me. I think if you are used to eating more "normal" foods, then banana brownies are going to taste like banana brownies. If you eat more whole food ingredients, then banana brownies are going to taste like a super chocolatey treat cuz you don't eat brownies, lol!. Its all relevant to the taste tester, right? I appreciate all your reviews!! Your family is adorable!! Question: Are you going to have any macros or nutritional info in your book? I did not care about this years ago when first going plant-based, but now I watch my macros and pay more attention to all the nutritional info and calories per serving. Just wondering... Thanks!!
It is all relevant for sure - which is why you often get different scores from all of us. I really loved those brownies too :) I was going to include the nutritional information, but to be honest, we cross referenced the information across multiple sources and found it was too inconsistent, so we've decided to not include it so as to not give anyone wrong information. As someone who struggled with calorie counting and the mental health aspects of it, I feel good about leaving it out. The recipes are generally already designed to have a healthy balance in them between all of the macros (for the most part), so that's our way to contribute. Perhaps in a future book if I do one that's more focused on weight loss, etc... but that isn't the focus of this one.
Does this book have an index? Plantifully Lean does not. I hate that one wasn't included. Her books are more like a weight loss instructionmanual. Thanks for review. @@pbwithjeremy
@@pbwithjeremyI made it for the second time last night. I doubled the cashews but not the almond milk. Next time I will try a little of Shane & Simple’s cashew sour cream in the sauce. It’s in my weekly rotation.
omggggg congrats on the book i cannot express how excited i am for you. I wish i could afford to buy it, but know that i will continue to support you how ever i can
Thank you for doing these reviews! I would have not been happy to purchase this book and then find that most recipes were for only 1 or 2 servings. That is just my needs. Thanks again.
Hi Guys! I love your channel! It’s Lorna (Castledark) from HORSECAMP in Queensland 🇦🇺 Australia! ❤ I like a cookbook with LOTSA PHOTOS and less words! Also like big lettering, like a plus size font, cos I’m old. (and too lazy to find my glasses so I just squint.)😊
Ps….really sad to hear a big dog bark just now (during brownie/banana bread debate) but no doggy appeared onscreen😢 OH WAIT! STOP PRESS! THERES THE 🐶 DOGGO!!❤❤❤YAYYY!!🎉🎉🎉
Great review - thanks for the insight. We love Plantiful Kiki. I was wondering if you have a video about your cookbook with highlights of what is in it and maybe a demo of some of the recipes. I checked under your video tab and did not find anything. Is there somewhere else that I can look?
I agree with you about the Stevia. It tastes awful and it makes my mouth hurt every time I try it. I’d rather use maple syrup, date syrup, or coconut sugar.
For the curry a bit of context that might make the sweet potato directions make more sense - on her channel she often preps potatoes/sweet potatoes on weekends and has them pre roasted or steamed and just happens to prep them whole. So for her recipe she was likely thinking that she usually grabs from her whole prepped potatoes when making this. Not saying cubing them and roasting them doesnt make sense...just saying that's probably where she's coming from
HINT When quadrupling a recipe, do not quadruple sugar, extracts, hot sauce, hot spices and lemon/lime/vinegar. The recipe will need a little more than one serving. Use your judgement.
Thanks for the review. I really like Kiki and use her first book a lot. However I found this book really disappointing. A lot of the recipes are so simple you don't need a recipe and so many of the mains don't have any protein source.
I also noticed several other mistakes that you didn't point out. Maybe the publishers pushed her to put out another book too fast since her first one was so successful!
Omg. I love this video but I just panicked when you mentioned the dog ate a raisin cookie. Just one rasin can kill a dog and it just depends on whether or not that particular rasin has a particular compound in it! I had to rush my pup to the vet before for this. Please be very careful with grapes and raisins around our furry friends. 🧡
One thing about Plantiful Kiki that doesn't suit your family's eating style is that her recipes follow Dr McDougall's Starch Solution, which means plant based but also minimal fat (so very limited nuts, seeds and tofu).
I don't see Starch Solution as limiting fats. And the way we eat does that too. I don't know what it is about her recipes - just not for me, I guess. Glad that others enjoy them! It's just our opinions :)
Thank you for calling her out! Although Kiki seems like a sweet person her cookbooks are not the best! Her recipes are almost too simple! I swear she'll put avocado toast as a recipe in one of her cookbooks; when most people already know how to make that. Just like her "granola" recipe here. Plus, as you pointed out, do we really need another "yogurt granola" recipe? I'm sorry, but that's not an actual recipe to me. That's an option/tip of how you can eat the granola. It's NOT a recipe in my opinion. Not a fan of her cookbooks, so I'll definitely bypass hers EVERY time around! I'm personally not a fan! I don't know if she tries to get the cookbooks out one right after the next or what!? It just seems like there are a lot of mistakes within the cookbooks also. That's a turn off for me! 👎🏻
Yup. I struggle with her stuff as well. In her last book she literally had a "recipe" for how to make cereal... and by "make cereal" I mean pouring boxed cereal into a bowl with fruit and non-dairy milk. ... that was a "recipe"... sigh....
@@pbwithjeremyStay just like you are. Many people watch because your family is REAL and relatable!! My kids don’t always chew like little robots with perfect manners and you guys can do whatever you like comfortable in your own home! I find it incredibly rude that people are always commenting about it. Love your little fam!!
I love Kikki and agree with your rating of her book. I enjoy your family but would enjoy watching more if your children would close their mouths to chew and if all of you stopped chewing before talking. Sorry if I’m being harsh but I don’t enjoy gagging while watching your videos.
Thank you for your honest feedback and for being a part of our community. I’m glad to hear you enjoy Kiki’s book and our content overall. I understand that watching people chew or talk with food in their mouths can be unpleasant for some viewers, and I appreciate you sharing your perspective. We strive to keep our videos authentic and relaxed, but I hear your concerns and will keep this in mind. Thanks again for watching and for taking the time to share your thoughts!
I HATE stevia! Tastes horrible and gives me a terrible stomach ache. I have noticed Kiki uses it frequently. Regardless, I do really like her and have enjoyed many of her Plantifully Lean recipes but not impressed with this book (which I own). It just feels thrown together, like they wanted to quickly capitalize on the success with Plantifully Lean. If I remember right, your family didn’t really like Plantifully Lean very much either but I use that book a lot for sauces and ideas and I love the cheezy broccoli rice casserole that’s in it. So good.
I love watching your show but I do have a comment. I notice that you question and critique every recipe before making it and if the recipe seems unusual you change it. How can you truly review a recipe if you modify it? Thank you.
I usually only change an ingredient because: 1. It's not gluten free 2. It's not WFPB (oil, processed sugar, etc...) 3. We can't find an ingredient I try to make it clear when making the recipe so that people know to factor that in with our thoughts and that they're through that lens. I realize the way we do things won't be for everyone - we do what we can and be honest and up front about everything and that's all we can do.
Hi Betty! It'll be a PDF, so you can open it on any device. If you have any problems e-mail me: pbwithjeremy@gmail.com :)
Totally know what you mean!
Just pre-ordered your book! I can’t wait to try it out! Love your content and your family!

I have this book and don’t use it, I was disappointed that it was only for 1-2 servings. I just preordered your cookbook and I can’t wait to get it!
Thank you!
Yes that is the Folsom from Cash’s ‘Folsom Prison Blues’..😊
I agree about the “padding”
Few cookbooks have realistic prep times. I’m an experienced WFPB cook.
Thanks for the tip, Gale!
Can you please link to pre-order in these comments . I looked everywhere and can’t seem to find it!
It's at the very top of our description section - but here is it is too. Thanks!!!

You're welcome LaVonnda!
Hi I think Kiki did the added ingredients to create or stretch recipes in her other book Plentiful Lean.
Um. Yeah - I mentioned that in our review of it.
I love the 1-10 rating system!!
Oh no - the kids are going to be on me now.... maybe we'll consider changing it up for the new year....
I really loved those brownies too :)
I was going to include the nutritional information, but to be honest, we cross referenced the information across multiple sources and found it was too inconsistent, so we've decided to not include it so as to not give anyone wrong information.
@@pbwithjeremy Thanks so much - sounds like you have put great thought into it!! :)
Ordered my copy of your book today! Woo hoo!
Thank you!
How can you taste the food when it is teaming hot? The milder flavours will not come through.
VERY carefully :)
You shred the book apart! And I appreciate it. 😂
Just being honest and pointing out what we notice. I hope we didn't come off as harsh, but the book had issues, IMO.
Does this book have an index? Plantifully Lean does not. I hate that one wasn't included. Her books are more like a weight loss instructionmanual. Thanks for review. @@pbwithjeremy
Omg haven’t been here in a while, my plant based dad is almost at 50k so exciting 🥦
Welcome back! How you been???
Your kids are hilarious.
My family really likes her Mushroom Stroganoff on page 172, even the ones who don't love mushrooms. :)
Ohhh - thank for the tip - I should've tried that one on Annie!!! :)
I wish i could afford to buy it, but know that i will continue to support you how ever i can
My cake didn't make it into this one, though there's lots of baked good!
Thank you for doing these reviews! I would have not been happy to purchase this book and then find that most recipes were for only 1 or 2 servings. That is just my needs. Thanks again.
I hear ya! I would have been bummed too.
Ps….really sad to hear a big dog bark just now (during brownie/banana bread debate) but no doggy appeared onscreen😢
OH WAIT! STOP PRESS! THERES THE 🐶 DOGGO!!❤❤❤YAYYY!!🎉🎉🎉
Haha - she made her cameo
Great review - thanks for the insight. We love Plantiful Kiki. I was wondering if you have a video about your cookbook with highlights of what is in it and maybe a demo of some of the recipes. I checked under your video tab and did not find anything. Is there somewhere else that I can look?
Just posted it a few days ago: ua-cam.com/video/VoYwSO5LoHE/v-deo.html&lc=UgyJ2Q1niLbYbegQw5B4AaABAg
@@pbwithjeremy *derp* Just saw the title recipe tasters and didn't realize. Thanks!!!
@@kj0923 No worries! It's not super obvious that it's also what you were looking for :)
If your recipe allows for a few extra drops of water then it works better if you wet the crumpled up parchment paper and shake it out a little.
I have the digital version of this book too. I guess she missed adding some ingredients in The sweet potato curry. Oh well!
Watching from Ontario! Fellow Canadian!
What part of Canada are you? Love your channel! 🤗
We're in Toronto - you?

@@leahvincerouse We are! I grew up down the road in Cayuga - and we have an old farmhouse in Kitchener

I agree with you about the Stevia. It tastes awful and it makes my mouth hurt every time I try it. I’d rather use maple syrup, date syrup, or coconut sugar.
Same with us Kristin!
Have this down loaded on kindle but not tried the recipies
For us her single serve fed two of us but I am not a volume eater.

Hi from federal way, WA!
Not saying cubing them and roasting them doesnt make sense...just saying that's probably where she's coming from
Good to know. But she should assume that people using her book might not have seen those videos.
@@pbwithjeremy agreed!
The note about kale is supposed to refer to page 186 not 86.
Yup. Seems like something an editor should have caught.
I would eat that chocolate “granola” over yogurt 🍦 😊
It was tasty!
7:52 😂😂😂
HINT When quadrupling a recipe, do not quadruple sugar, extracts, hot sauce, hot spices and lemon/lime/vinegar. The recipe will need a little more than one serving. Use your judgement.
That's a great point. She should mention that in the book.
Is it just me or do recipes for 1 or 2 end up being HUGE? I cook for 9 and if I 9x these recipes I’m guessing it would take up the whole fridge
Hahah. Maybe make it x6 and see if that's enough :)
I noticed the same things on her cookbooks. I love her but it's made me think why did I buy this.
The editor should’ve caught those mistakes
I agree... Stevia is disgusting! I find it to be wayyyy too sweet, in a very artificial way. Blech! I avoid anything that lists it as an ingredient.
Me, too. I think it tastes as artificial as an artificial sweetner.
Yeah, we agree - the book was a little underwhelming.
Still alive. And just so it's clear - we didn't feed it to them - the little bugger stole it :)
@pbwithjeremy I know! Haha. I didn't give raisins to my silly pup either. I am glad he's ok.
In her last book she literally had a "recipe" for how to make cereal... and by "make cereal" I mean pouring boxed cereal into a bowl with fruit and non-dairy milk. ... that was a "recipe"... sigh....
Exactly! And her books are sooo expensive.
It's a Sammie not a Sammy.
Your daughter mentioned your dog ate raisin cookies. Raisins are poisonous to dogs.
It wasn't on purpose. Stole it off the counter.
Still alive!
I’ve only had Stevia once, I had an anaphylactic allergy reaction to it, and it tasted gross.
Sorry to hear that - but yeah - it's awful
One thing I hate about Kiki’s books is that one “recipe” can contain up to three other recipes!
Yup. They certainly feel a bit padded...
I love your family and your content but I just can't take the crunching and chewing right in my ears! Arrrrrgggghhhh!
Eeeep - not into ASMR, huh? Sorry about that - I'll try to mix down the crunching and chewing.
@@violetskieswellnessseattle7441 awwwww thank you!
So good.
Kiki’s recipes are focused on weight loss. That’s most likely why she uses Stevia. I prefer maple syrup.
I wish I liked her more.... it's just.... well I sorta said it in the two videos...
The chewing sounds are very distracting! Other than that great video.
Yup, some of us are loud chewers - haha!
NORTHERN WHITE BEANS always instead of chickpeas same creaminess…. No skins
I love watching your show but I do have a comment. I notice that you question and critique every recipe before making it and if the recipe seems unusual you change it. How can you truly review a recipe if you modify it? Thank you.
I usually only change an ingredient because:
1. It's not gluten free
2. It's not WFPB (oil, processed sugar, etc...)
3. We can't find an ingredient
I try to make it clear when making the recipe so that people know to factor that in with our thoughts and that they're through that lens.
I realize the way we do things won't be for everyone - we do what we can and be honest and up front about everything and that's all we can do.
BIG NO to stevia.
