Our large fire department still uses a conventional UHF radio system tied into a state-of-the-art Phoenix G2 alerting system. The recall goes off in the station followed by an automated Phoenix G2 voice dispatch. At the same time this is happening, firefighters are seeing the call on their smartphone via the Phoenix G2 app. They can take it one step further and see the info on their Apple watch as they make their way to the truck. The local PD uses a P25 simulcast system and they hate it. Officers sound like muffled robots and many times they can't even transmit when inside a building. Instead they see "CC SCAN" on their radios. Conventional UHF worked just fine for decades. Motorola and Harris needed a way to keep the money coming in, so they developed these extremely expensive and totally unnecessary digital systems.

Maintaining an old system for VHF or UHF y'all act like digital is the best thing ever and that analog is ancient and that's not the case analog of always be the best form of communication when it comes to simplicity

That big, bad, boss 800 system, especially multi-site systems, are quite vulnerable compared to "old legacy VHF" stuff. The old stuff was simple, and it worked. All that aside, I really do wish they made a G6 model, so I can also have UHF. Scanners sometimes just aren't practical to carry EDC.

The only thing that sucks about these is that whether you have a VHF or a UHF model is that the antenna is unfortunately internal the only external antenna connection is for 800 reception only which puts a damper on receiving certain fire calls that are on either VHF or UHF that should be addressed and corrected for future reference you would think that they could use the main antenna that's removable to receive all the bands but they failed in that design which puts a big damper on priority calls on spotty reception areas

Really wish they made a tri-band, as we have a new P25 800 system but still use both UHF and VHF mixed systems.

I know the G4 is phase 2, which is what my area just switched too, but is the G5 also phase 2?

UHF OR VHF this could get expensive to just monitor. Which is the most popular in this G5 Unit ??

    Hello
Does it work in the Middle East

Do they use digital trunking 800mhz, P25, or VHF in the middle east? If so, yes. If not, no. The pager doesn't care where it is. If it is sent a signal, it'll receive it.
