  • Here is a brief demonstration of the Unication G5 Pager decoding a Quick Call 2-tone alert being broadcast over a P25 trunked radio system. This feature opens a lot of possibilities for agencies who currently operate on a P25 trunked radio system. The Unication G4/G5 can provide alerting AND the ability to monitor dispatch and tactical talkgroups for the best situational awareness for all members of your department!

    Second part of the second tone had me jump halfway out of bed thinking my tones were dropping right at the same time. The fire department I volunteer for has these exact pagers for us.

    Is the audio louder than scanner? Can you hear it on slightly noisy environments like you can with Motorola two way commercial handhelds?

      Hi Kandi, when comparing the audio output of the G5, it is generally louder than most consumer grade scanners (Uniden, Whistler), but not louder than a Motorola APX portable radio. This is due to having a smaller form factor and physically smaller speaker. Like the Motorola APX, however, the G5 is very rugged and submersible, so it is well suited to public safety use.

    Can b use for a digital police scanner?

    • @allstarcommunicationsllc5331
      @allstarcommunicationsllc5331  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, the Unication G-Series can receive APCO Project 25 (P25) Trunked Radio Systems, DMR conventional and analog conventional radio systems. The G-Series has gained notoriety for it's ability to monitor P25 "Simulcast" radio systems without the distortion encountered by consumer grade scanners.

    This is coming over the 800mhz system?

    • @allstarcommunicationsllc5331
      @allstarcommunicationsllc5331  6 років тому +2

      Yes, that is correct. This agency simulcasts the toneout both on an analog conventional frequency and an 800 MHz P25 trunked system. The tones need to have a certain amount of spacing between A/B to compesate for the slight distortion that ocurrs in digital mode.

    I have been working with a G5 to set up paging as demonstrated here but it doesn’t work. Would it be possible to get a copy of the code plug to see where my mistake is?

      Hey Ray! Your old buddy here from SEGARRN. I think you need to program your base station transmit to allow some pauses between those tones. Go look at Lucky7firefighter and Interceptor 224 questions at the top....

      This G5 is programmed to decode 2-Tone sequential paging tones (Quick Call II) that are transmitted over an 800 MHz P25 digital trunking system. It is the only pager on the market capable of this feature.

      Hi Austin, in the PPS software, go to #7 "Pager Configuration Setting" and look for "Home Screen". Then set "Home Screen Style" to "Customized". Then you should see various choices for adding photo files and text. Generally, you have to resize the image files to a certain size to get them to fit, but it's not too difficult. Good Luck!

      Here are some more details on how the "Quick Call over P25" works with the Unication G-Series products. Motorola APX subscribers have a similar feature that can be activated with the proper firmware package.
