We have multiple simulcast systems in Phoenix and I don't want to switch as I drive through town. So the knob settings and zones are limited. WE have a huge system with multiple cities with probably 20 different control channels. Looks like a nice piece. I might grab one. The Uniden BCD436HP has been the best so far
yes and no. Yes the BCD436HP (and GPS hooked up - or changing zip codes) is better and easier for driving around and automatically listening to different systems, but once properly programmed, the G4/G5 will blow the BCD436HP away in terms of reception. In other words, the BCD436HP - even though properly programmed will still miss and not be able to lock on to many sites and TGs, whereas the G4/G5 is awesome in its ability to receive and not miss a system, site or talk group.
Please tell me that you're still doing this. I need you but can't tell you why in an open forum. I have LOTS of questions reference the pagers, programming. Are you available for questions?
Got a question and I know it will sound dumb but since your programming statewide you should hear the signal statewide right? or only in range of the county
Mine has been running solid for years and I haven't had to change anything, so I haven't done this in a long time so a bit rusty now lol. I searched the web and did find this suggestion though in a forum: "If it's the PPS you have to plug the pager into the USB, set up on the PROGRAM page and then TURN IT (*pager) ON till it shows "1" in the device above. Sometimes you must turn the pager off, then back on for the PPS to recognize the device to show (1) instead of (0)"
Group Id settings Will the group allas appear automatically if you input the DEC and hex for that channel. Or is all of this information on radio reference. Com
I just bought the G4 and it'll be here in a few days. I also live in saginaw county, Carrollton to be exact, and I'm just wondering how yours has been since having it programmed? Have you had any problems with reception or scanning? Has the unit fought itself picking up two different transmissions, like if county fire and city pd key the Mic at the same time?
Hi Nick. I haven't had to re-program since the original time I did it so I'll probably have to watch my own video to refresh lol. It's been rock solid, no issues. I did have a battery issue where it swelled up so I think it's not best to leave it on the charger for extended times. Ray's pager helped me get it warrantied though so all is good. Reception has been awesome, no issues at all. Not sure if they key up at the same time?... I'ts best to think of it not so much as a regular scanner but as an actual police / fire radio. Only one that you can't talk back into. So it the actual police / fire radio has an over stepped mic from another car etc and they hear it, then you will hear it also. Same as if you had an actual police radio. I've never experienced it, that I noticed anyway.
@@ComputerProMedia awesome thank you. Your video also makes it pretty self explanatory as well, so thank you for that too. I'm extremely excited to get it.
Disregard that last comment, I figured out that I could use a different model # , just has one different number in the middle and it workex great. I'm up and listening, its a great little scanner.
@@nickwilson8811 It's been a few years since I installed mine but I believe it pulls the model and serial info when you plug the unit in. Did yours not pull the info?
I got everything i need the only problem im running into is that when i go to click program it requires a password and the login password and default password for G4 doesnt work. Any help?
796 92493 those are hex? I thought hex was 0-9 then letters like A-F so I assumed they were decimal. If so then I apologize for quite a few mistakes in the video. Thanks for the info on voice storage also. I'm playing with that now.
No problem BTW this is David from Unication USA. This is a nice video don't worry about the mistakes it happens to us all. Sometimes making mistakes are the best path to learning. When I started on this project I made plenty of mistakes but we learn and we grow. I love watching our customers perspective on our products good or bad it helps us grow this product as a community. I was just in Saginaw last week working on some stuff its a pretty nice place.
@@georgiapod9442 I have a small number with skinny barcode along the back edge next to the battery and also a number under the battery after you remove from the unit. Not sure which is the serial but I'd write down both just to be sure. My unit is a G4 not G5, not sure if that matters.
Great video

I HAVE THE SAME AND IT WORKS GREAT. THIS IS GREAT FOR US HARD OF HEARING PEOPLE PUSH BUTTON REPLY
Why don’t they just make it where you can directly plug in the information from radio reference?
another instructional video fantastic job
Thank God we have the import option now
GOT IT ALL TOGETHER NOW THANKS. GOOD JOB
Voice Storage allows the unit to record the transmissions.
Does it auto overwrite when it’s full? Can it be replayed quickly on the fly?

And I promise, it's not weird, I just don't want to put out where I work on here.

Just in range of the county unfortunately.
Thnk u. Helped out a lot!
awesome video, thank you
what do you do if you have 3 alternates?
So are you limited to a single site within the system with this?
Any tips for when the PPS wont detect my G4 being connected but my computer does?

Voice prompt only announces once when the Knob Position is changed
Could you make more videos of this pager in use?

Quick question. Did you have problems finding your model number in the start of the setup? My model number doesn't seem to be listed.

Did you try admin for both?

Hex doesn't always have letters
Can you scan across Zones?
Not that i'm aware of at this time. Would be nice in a future update though :)
I am still confused
I’m having problems finding Where my serial number is can anyone help me?
When you plug in the scanner it should pull it and show under 'D' View/Edit Existing Profile as shown at 1:30
Mines doesn’t charge so I can’t turn it on i need the serial number off the back so i contact the authorized dealer who sold it to me
