This is excellent. I had a Ford with the death wobble. Not a fun thing to experience. It only happened at about 80 km/hour.

Not a lot of views, but a lot of god information here. I’m glad I stumbled on it. Thank you for this video, sir!

Ive heard they are set up from the factory with just barely enough caster and that adding a few degrees can really help it drive better and avoid the death wobble, your thoughts?

We used to be under that same impression. However, in a TSB from Ford they call for lowering the caster, and just because they say it doesn’t make it true. BUT it works on the Super Dutys. It creates more downward force on the front wheels when you get into the 1.8-2.2 degree caster range. Still positive but lower than the spec. Test it. We have done 30+ death wobble cures.

@deltatire ya, I have no skin in the game yet, but I hope to switch from obs to super duty at some point and try to stay up on the good info, from my 4x4 experience more Caster seems to drive nicer, but you can argue results!
A follow up question, does the lower Caster setting still work when the components get a little wear on them? It seems like more Caster tends to be more forgiving of a few worn but not worn out parts?
Again, not arguing, just trying to learn from someone with lots of experience

Hmm that could be interesting. I’ll watch for that occurrence. I don’t know that I have considered that question before. Cool thought
