Can the new Acura Integra keep up with its peers? Or the original Type R? - Cammisa Drag Race Replay

  • How quick is the 2023 Acura Integra A-Spec? On this episode of Cammisa's Ultimate Drag Race Replay, we race it against the legend: the original DC2 Integra Type R.
    This episode of Ultimate Drag Race Replay is brought to you by WeatherTech: www.weathertech.com/?...
    After the new-vs-old Integra race, we race the new Integra against its current front-wheel drive competition: the Volkswagen Jetta GLI and Hyundai Elantra N - the only other fwd, turbocharged, manual-transmission sport compact sedans you can buy today.
    For perspective on just how fast today's cars are, we also bring out a Ford Bronco Raptor - though we keep it on the dirt.
    Cammisa's Ultimate Drag Replay is all about perspective, including our now-famous walkback, in which Jason explains what happened - including for example, how the Integra's gears are so short that it actually pulls harder than the Jetta GLI; or how the Jetta's all-season tires and overprotective traction control mean it's already behind the all-business Hyundai Elantra N by the time it gets to 30 mph.

      It's all thanks to the BMW M-Power director & chef engineer which Hyundai got for the last few years to involve in creating the N division sprucing sportiness into the Hyundai factory cars, is not a bad thing but this is the main reason they got so advanced lately snatching experts which use to work for other brands.. Is about competition between brands, i really like what Hyundai / Kia did recently but the most awesome thing Hyundai did the : Pony '74 revival, that thing is Epic..

      @@NvSrAgE679 sensible people compare products mainly off of their price because money is generally what dictates their buying choices. Obviously the integra is more luxury and less performance focused, but this video is meant to show what the car brings to the table from a performance stand point.
      You can get much more performance for the same dollar which shows the integra is pretty far behind it's segment in just performance. Again, it's more than a bare bones performance car so that's okay but it is obviously the weakest performance car.
      Saying that it needs to be compared to cars way cheaper than itself is like saying a dumb 8th grader should be compared to 6th graders because he's dumb 😂. The Integra is compared to other $30k cars because it is a $30k car.
      It's kind of pathetic already that a $30k car needs to be compared to a low $20k car to make it look passable.
      If you're talking about racing/autocross classes sure. Only issue is in the real world you're paying real money. No one is comparing $30k cars to $20k cars just because the $30k car is so bad that it needs to be compared to a $20k car. That already proves that it's outmatched from a performance stand point.

    Great video. Pure genius bringing in the Raptor Bronco on the dirt.
    Also, it's not all about times...ripping upshifts at 8500 rpms is its own experience worth having. That's the one knock I have on the new turbo small cars, something was lost with their lower redlines....especially from Honda, from whom we came to expect that kind of engineering.

    We have lost a lot of car reviewers to spec sheets and interior features over the last several years. Many car reviewers have found ways to dull audiences even in high performance vehicles. I appreciate hagerty for keeping the audience engaged and doing the most to entertain. This gentlemen does a great job and the production team is top notch. Cheers

      Of course it did. It’s racing two cars in the class below it. The Si and Integra are in the same class with the N-line not the N. The Elantra N is in the same class as the newer Type R’s. So why is it even in the video?

    • @JasonCammisa
      @JasonCammisa Рік тому +6

      @@kevinchung1492 Sadly not, the drag race is all we had time to do with the ITR. I did one lap in between takes, and it was magic - though the shocks are near-seized on this ultra-low-mile museum car. Given the super-sticky tires on it, I have no doubt that the ITR would be quicker around Willow - but I was certainly not going to risk putting a stone chip on this particular one!

    • @JasonCammisa
      @JasonCammisa Рік тому +8

      @@mojojojo_BB That's a different show. GLI now comes on all-season tires that are so bad it's not competitive in any performance metric. With a major tire upgrade, it's quite good. But not as good as the Hyundai. Elantra N is magic: stiff when it needs to be, huge grip, good balance, great composure - by a mile the best dynamics of the group. Integra is, like GLI, on all-season tires, but isn't bad, especially on public roads. Hyundai kills it here by about the same margin as comparing an Evora and a Camry.
