Great car, awesome review. If I were to simplify my 3 cars down to 1, this Acura would do it (Lexus GSF, 99 911 manual, 97 Jag XJ6 ). While one could buy a used GSF for this price, there is no manual for its epic V8 and near magical RWD torque vectoring diff. My 911 was away for nearly 3 months, having weaker car but with a manual makes a very positive difference for involvement and satisfaction. Matt n Zach, really appreciate your reviews and qualified opinions!!!
Short, to the point, full of fun comments, and the review sounds on topic!! Great video guys... Now if only I could talk the wife into trading in our 2013 BRZ.
@@Nah5534 if by slow you mean 0-60 times, this car wasn’t made for drag racing, it’s a FWD car with a manual transmission, it’s not going to come off the line hard. It also traps higher in the quarter mile than it’s competitors which translates to the real world. Tuning wise, the K20C1 has more potential than other engines in its class minus the 5 cylinder turbo in the RS3, but I consider that car to be in its own class altogether. If the FK8 taught us anything is how hard these cars pull up top with some tuning.
@dannyllerenatv8635 Its 50k plus, it's in the same price range as V8 cars and with markups the supra as well. Far superior platforms and engines in everyone of those. This car doesn't have remotely the potential Of a B58, Coyote, or the RS3 much less the camaro. Solid car I'm sure but it's not breaking hearts lol
@@ryanb8736 Acura doesn’t plan on making them that long or making that many so when they’re gone, they’re gone. With the advent of bring a trailer, these cars will get very expensive.
Little late to the party but after hearing about this on the podcast I was happy to see the quality of the videos has gone up tremendously. Thanks guys
It's terrifying that 50k is considered affordable now and yet the average salary for most industries is barely 20% higher than it was in 2000 when this car would have cost 20k... That's literally 100% inflation. The 99% of us are truly screwed
The 1997 Integra Type R was 25000 and most sold with a 10 to 15k markup so 35 to 40k in 97 which would be 66 to 75k in today's money for actual selling price for a car with 195hp lol. Even at msrp of 25k it would be about 47k which isn't that far off from what the msrp is. Plus superior in every regard, has 4 doors, 4 seats and a turbo engine that can make 700hp without much effort. Value packed
great review 👍 as a former 3rd gen GS-R owner, I think this is an excellent re-interpretation for the 2020s props to Acura for executing on the vision and bringing back the third pedal
I used to doubt the statement that you can get the vibe of a car ina few hundred feet, but this past weekend taught me otherwise. I was on rally with two dozen other cars where much key swapping was happening, and yes, with some car experience you can totally tell what a car is all about. I trust Matt and Zach’s opinion on this.
Great video really liked it. Suggestion on how they could improve the car: ventilated or cooled seats should be standard in this price range it isn't but should be!
I purchased a new ITS coming from Acura mid June through my dealership yesterday. I couldn’t be more excited than I am right now. This is going to be a dream car for me.
Watching this video makes me think how attractive a clean two door 2017 Accord with a 6sp has become. Hell, the n/a 2.4 is pretty strong in those cars.
That's what I'm talking but I'm still pushing the K24 in my Honda CRV manual transmission 2005 respectively. I got a v8 lexus as well convertible. I'm keeping a close eye on this acura. Not sure if I can justify the price at the moment though
Glad everyone is enjoying driving this car after getting to work on it at Honda, we knew it was our K20's swan song so the best and most passionate engineers were put on the Type-S. (It was developed in our R&D facility in Ohio but borrowed the parts that were developed for FL5, don't tell marketing) Hope enthusiasts will get to drive it without markup, it's a car that deserves to be driven hard
Gotta be honest, this car is woefully overpriced, underpowered, and overweight. The k20 was an amazing engine, how did Honda with all its facilities build such an underwhelming car? 52k ? A camaro ss, 400z , q50s, mustang gt, challenger, wrx will destroy this car cheaper in every way possible. And I’m missing a long list of sport sedans in the same segment. 52k for a fwd sedan? Before dealer markups? I respect Honda getting back in the game but , I bought a 2020sr3 radical and twincharged it for 97k . 3k on the odometer. The integra is money poorly spent. By people living in nostalgia land . 3200 lbs? My g35s 6mt sedan 2007 weighed less than this integra stock. I also wonder how much the checks were to Matt and company to not give any negative feedback. Less car review and more infomercial
This review brought me back to this channel. Fantastic insights and I look forward to seeing more of these videos in this format. Great work gentlemen!
Savagegeese recently did a great comparison of the Civic Type R vs the Elantra R and some other similar cars that is worth checking out. Obviously the Civic Type R isn't exactly the Integra Type R, but it's close enough.
The Elantra N is a *fantastic* value at its price point. It is, in the real world, just as quick as these cars. The ITS is better looking, better seats, a better stereo, and has better inputs, which to me is worth the price difference. But if you want true "most performance for the least amount of money" the Elantra N is a great vehicle.
I'm surprised Matt couldn't think of anything he'd tell Acura to improve about this car. The obvious first thing to say is that its price isn't actually 52k in real life. If Honda/Acura would stop letting dealers get away with this, then it'd for sure be as perfect as described in this video.
No sunroof, no AWD are my two gripes. Coming from a cheaper G70 3.3T, I feel like the value for the money is non-existent in this car. It does however look like a good product.
I thought it was going to be a winner. And it seems like it is 👍 kudos to Acura. Will be calling around. Great production Matt & Zach. Love the new video format.
Sunroof delete is a gap in my opinion, as most owners with it use it a lot. The A Spec has it and if the purpose of the Type S is to be a road car rather than track, Acura should have engineered a sunroof in it. And yes, power on the passenger side too cuz it's just cheap to not have it at $51K. Other than that, I'm sold and would trade my A Spec for this.
Guys-love that you both can dig a car this much that is not a $100k car as Matt stated. I have expensive german cars in the garage and I want a Type S....nailing the essense of what makes a well rounded enthusiast car is what we are all in search of! The fact is is under $55k makes this a home run which like minded drivers love to embrace...well done gents.
I have to say that's a huge statement to say it's about as good as it gets or could get for 52K. The only other car I have heard Matt speak so highly about was the Lexus LC500.
I think y'all might have found a happy medium here format wise. I know on the podcast y'all have been airing your grievances about the different formats y'all have been experimenting with, I think this one is a keeper. It's so much more engaging than the one takes, I could be wrong, but it looks a lot easier to edit than your magnum opus in the Dakar video. I'm drawn in, it tells a story, and gives y'all an opportunity to exercise that creative muscle, but it's not super over the top production quality wise, I hope. Having the meat and potatoes still being driving impressions in the car on a road Matt's driven on a thousand times in 900 different cars satisfies that part of me that LOVED the one takes, but then you have the narration over it, and the brilliant writing to form this overarching narrative, it's beautiful. It's something special. I really hope this format sees enough to success to make however much behind the scenes work worth it. I absolutely love it, and think y'all hit an absolute no doubter home run here. I understand if the views aren't there y'all are gonna have to can the format, but man do I love this one.
funny that the only thing that makes the ctr boy racer is the wing. replace it with something similar like on the type s, the civic would look more mature. front and rear is a lot more aggressive than the fl5, plus you have that over fenders that looks aftermarket.
Great, clever review! The only feature this car is lacking for me is an AC vent on the rear console. Luxury sedans should have that feature, esp at this price point
Best in a decade? Arguable. The FK8 Type R stunned the world and cleared the way for this Integra… “best” is relative. Without the success of the raw, manual-only FK8, this Integra wouldn’t have been built… and I’m glad Honda built both!
I know it's probably not easy syncronizing Matt and Zack's schedules for co-op reviews like this, but this format is bangin'! Love the quick cuts back n forth between you two.
When I saw the MSRP I had to check to make sure it wasn't canadian dollars! You practically need generational car wealth to afford anything good these days. That is a significant price above other cars like a Golf R for instance
Dude...guys! I see it's been said already but this review was great! Great flow/format and the addition of subtle background music is a nice touch. I don't believe you had music in your previous reviews did you? Awesome car too, would make a lovely daily driver.
@@mharro88 The Hyundai offers a lot of "value", but it has two insurmountable flaws for me: No manual transmission, and it's hideous. While I'm a fan of much that Hyundai has done, the looks of the Elantra lately are a disaster, much like Acura in the unfortunate "beak" years. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, of course.
@@mharro88 I stand corrected. For some reason, I thought they'd dropped the manual. Not sure why you'd assume American; reviews worldwide have referred to the design as polarizing or similar. If the look works for you, it's an easy win.
Pity Australia is unlikely to ever get it here. I'll just keep my late 2004 Integra TypeS going. Yes it's my my everday driver; almost 16yrs (I bought it with 28K km in Aug 2007) - longest relationship of my life so far.
I really wish they'd make more Japanese hot sedans in 4WD (or RWD). I don't get what they gain from making everything FWD. Are they 'that' much cheaper to make?!
Short answer, yes. But it’s not about the hot ones, it’s about the regular ones. FWD is cheaper to make, and normally gives you better interior packaging so more space than both AWD and RWD, and is lighter. So it just makes sense for the regular hatch and sedan to be FWD, where it doesn’t really matter which wheels deliver power to the road with normal driving. So if the normal car is FWD, the development cost to change that really would make it that much more.
They are cheaper to make, but roads and infrastructure in japan and honestly overseas is much different. They don’t have a reliance on vehicles like we do state side. Plus they require smaller vehicles, and smaller RWD/AWD vehicles are less cost effective then small fwd vehicles. Most Japanese brands don’t operate in the higher luxury market that RWD platforms inhabit nor is AWD ever really necessary. They tailor to necessity not wants
This laps faster than 300hp rwd cars - their fwd designs break lap records 😂 The 315hp Type R runs a 2:58 at Virginia International Raceway - the 2006 540hp Ford GT exotic ran a 3:00:6 When people talk about FWD cars like they can't handle its just comedy. These cars boogie and only people who aren't actually keeping track think these are just random fwd cars available from anyone. Meanwhile the lap times are faster than rwd sports cars 😂
The 2023 Golf R has AWD and priced ~$7k less than the Integra. I wonder which is an overall better bang for your buck. FWIW I absolutely love both cars: my first car was a 2000 integra GSR and my third car was a 2013 Golf R
My guess is the Golf is better from a dig, but the Integra is better literally everywhere else. It might be worth 7k just to not have the VW entertainment system alone.
You're somewhat right but GOOD LUCK actually buying an R for anything *vaguely* close to MSRP. They're charging 45K for GTI SE's and even more for the (Golf GTI S-based 40th).
Do people really spend money on a NEW car still? I sit back and watch other people eat the markup and other costs of a brand new car. Then in a year I'll buy it for 35k when they bought it for 60k
I really like this car but it IS missing three things. 1) cooled seats-this is 2023, how does it not have that in a “luxury” brand. 2) the OPTION for a moonroof. 3) the OPTION for an A/T considering how good they have become in recent years, and considering luxury car buyers don’t really drive stick or even care for it, and once again it’s a “luxury” brand. Honda can get away with it but Acura should not. I like driving a manual occasionally but for a daily it needs to be auto.
I really like the part where you guys went over that bump in the road and compared it to a roller coaster. That was really cool and would love to see that spot in the road used for more testing.

My previous car was an ‘05 RSX Type-S and it was a hoot to drive. I miss that thing. Current car is a ‘15 Civic Si. This new integrea has had me excited, next car in a few years may very well be a ‘25 Integra Type-S
That’s the whole point. You even said you cannot afford one, but you could have afforded the RSX type s when it launched at 24k.
The price is ridiculous, it’s in Porsche territory only you aren’t getting a Porsche.
Old man in the room 36. I've had several GSR two and four door. I currently running my mint 94 ex civic sedan all of them being stick of course. Lots of models Sense the fifth gen have been cool but I've never like any of them more. But now am old and my back hurts and I still go down the same canyon road. Mon-fri trust me when I say this as a life long Honda boy. This is better then all of our cars. Am in love I want a blue one more then I wanted a 94 blue si hatch as a young teen. ,😍🥰🤩 I will own one.
@@juanticimoDon't care worth it. Have fun coddling your porsche, micro fibers are on sale at pep boys. Most can't afford the service bills on those and keep them shinny. Good luck.
I found one of these for 49,600. I bought it. Best car I've ever had
Sublime vehicle. Love the journey that Acura has been on in the past few years.
The review from both of you guys was also awesome. Very well done!
Haven’t watched you guys in a while since the video format has gotten stale. Thought I’d tune in for an enthusiast car I’m interested in and you guys have improved so much. The extra effort doesn’t go unnoticed, makes me want to tune in for future vids
This review confirms my suspicions that this car would be the perfect sports car for daily driving. Unfortunately I’ve already seen them marked up 20k over msrp at my local dealerships.
get a used rivian for that money
@@laloajuria4678 how tf you even compare the two
@@Naah732 its just price. for 70K i wouldnt get this...
Why? It's gigantic. It's like saying the a kia optima would be a good sports car. It isn't it's just a decent car. Drive an actual sports car before claiming a huge Honda sedan is one.
@@Globbs I mean i'd call it a sports sedan. Mostly because almost no one makes a sports sedan anymore. Can't call anything sports with a CVT or Slushbox which takes 90% off the list.
Good review IMO. Thank you. It's nice to see when "they get it right" someone actually acknowledges it.
Really like your new video format. Keep up the great work guys! 🙂
Like the stats graphics. Great job in the format. Thank you all for the great content
I like that it's relatively subtle with a few exceptions such as the tailpipes. This car can be a true "heartbreaker" mobile.
What does that mean?
It’s perfect
What hearts exactly is it breaking? Shits slow compared to any car at its price point.
Solid car I'm sure but it's not breaking hearts lol
loving the production quality
Awesome format guys, I hope this is the direction you guys want to go with the channel
Really liking this new format you guys are doing. Keep it up.
Sounds like the perfect car to buy when it’s 3-5 years used and the price of a CTR or less
These might not depreciate unless you find one beat or a salvage.
@@ryanb8736 Acura doesn’t plan on making them that long or making that many so when they’re gone, they’re gone. With the advent of bring a trailer, these cars will get very expensive.
Congrats on the weight loss. Keep up the great work, brother. Love the car and the review.
Looking good Matt.
Aren't the new Type R's wheels also 19inch or am I mistaken
They are.
They're 482.6mm
This video is the Acura Type S of this format of car review. You guys really nailed the tone.
great review 👍
as a former 3rd gen GS-R owner, I think this is an excellent re-interpretation for the 2020s
props to Acura for executing on the vision and bringing back the third pedal
Really great video you guys. Love how you go back and forth from Matt to Zack. Your comments are well written, concise and witty. Keep it up!
Glad everyone is enjoying driving this car after getting to work on it at Honda, we knew it was our K20's swan song so the best and most passionate engineers were put on the Type-S. (It was developed in our R&D facility in Ohio but borrowed the parts that were developed for FL5, don't tell marketing)
Hope enthusiasts will get to drive it without markup, it's a car that deserves to be driven hard
Overpriced crap.
Bought a Elantra n and it's more fun than this and saved shitloads.
@mharro88 Hyundais are shit for shit people 😂 enjoy the engine fires when your fuel system fails burning the car up quickly
Tell me you’re broke without telling me you’re broke.
Probably one of the best videos you guys have made in awhile. This car is awesome.
Seriously great. I'm excited for this car, I just wish they were actually available under $70k.
they're going for under msrp in some cases now lmao
This review brought me back to this channel. Fantastic insights and I look forward to seeing more of these videos in this format. Great work gentlemen!
I'd love to see a comparison of this at 50k vs. the Elantra N or Sonata N at 30-40k.
Sonata N line is not a true N product
The elantra N is 98 percent as good as this and the Type R for much less money.
@@xblfanatic360 they’re not ready for that convo yet tho tbh 👀
Savagegeese recently did a great comparison of the Civic Type R vs the Elantra R and some other similar cars that is worth checking out. Obviously the Civic Type R isn't exactly the Integra Type R, but it's close enough.
The Elantra N is a *fantastic* value at its price point. It is, in the real world, just as quick as these cars. The ITS is better looking, better seats, a better stereo, and has better inputs, which to me is worth the price difference. But if you want true "most performance for the least amount of money" the Elantra N is a great vehicle.
Honestly one of the best car reviews I've seen in a long time. Looking forward to seeing more quality content from you 2 👍
I'm surprised Matt couldn't think of anything he'd tell Acura to improve about this car. The obvious first thing to say is that its price isn't actually 52k in real life. If Honda/Acura would stop letting dealers get away with this, then it'd for sure be as perfect as described in this video.
Have a look at what the average transaction price is for a new car.
No sunroof, no AWD are my two gripes. Coming from a cheaper G70 3.3T, I feel like the value for the money is non-existent in this car. It does however look like a good product.
@@cardetailingcomparisons8961 AWD would require a complete re-architecture of the whole platform....
not Acura's fault though and they will make about ~3600 of these in a year, so markups will come down sooner or later
Yeah, nothing he'd like to improve?!?? This video felt like a paid advertisement all the way through.
I couldn't agree more with this comment! Well said.
But you cant get it at 52k. Dealers asking 70k+
Comes with the best anti theft system on the market
Tbh its the best choice for one car garage. Stunning car
I think they nailed the look, it looks more mature then the CTR but still aggressive.
funny that the only thing that makes the ctr boy racer is the wing. replace it with something similar like on the type s, the civic would look more mature. front and rear is a lot more aggressive than the fl5, plus you have that over fenders that looks aftermarket.
Looks too American, like a Cadillac front end...I guess only non Americans would be able to say that...cool car but it's not a type R
Great content and review guys…love the format here!
Great, clever review! The only feature this car is lacking for me is an AC vent on the rear console. Luxury sedans should have that feature, esp at this price point
Keep it up guys, love the new style of the show!
STARTS at $52k 🤯 what
Absolutely ridiculous price for what you get in this car haha
Everything is ridiculously priced. I paid $15 for a double qter meal from McDonald’s.
Best in a decade? Arguable. The FK8 Type R stunned the world and cleared the way for this Integra… “best” is relative. Without the success of the raw, manual-only FK8, this Integra wouldn’t have been built… and I’m glad Honda built both!
Zack has to be the youngest looking 40 year old in recorded history. Excellent work as always you two
Asia has entered the chat. 😂
I love seeing review videos on "normal"/affordable cars. I know they dont get as many views as an exotic but this is what SHOULD get the views
SavageGeese put it on a dyno, 30 ft-lbs and 16 hp more than the CTR.
It's only $900/month for 5 years... for a FWD.
Dude...guys! I see it's been said already but this review was great! Great flow/format and the addition of subtle background music is a nice touch. I don't believe you had music in your previous reviews did you? Awesome car too, would make a lovely daily driver.
29 mm Sway bars are the same as 2.9 cm 😅 am I the only one that caught that? Love the humor 👍
I love how you edited this video! Keep this style for future videos!
In that conversation with Acura, mention the top three things that are missing:
1. Sunroof
2. Sunroof
3. Sunroof
All of which can be found on a Elantra n for half the price and more fun
@@mharro88 The Hyundai offers a lot of "value", but it has two insurmountable flaws for me: No manual transmission, and it's hideous. While I'm a fan of much that Hyundai has done, the looks of the Elantra lately are a disaster, much like Acura in the unfortunate "beak" years. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, of course.
@@LV4EVR honestly think it looks better than this. Americans have a weird taste in exterior looks. It comes in manual
@@mharro88 I stand corrected. For some reason, I thought they'd dropped the manual. Not sure why you'd assume American; reviews worldwide have referred to the design as polarizing or similar. If the look works for you, it's an easy win.

Great vid. Nice to see Acura back with a solid offering for the pure enthusiast.
Pity Australia is unlikely to ever get it here. I'll just keep my late 2004 Integra TypeS going. Yes it's my my everday driver; almost 16yrs (I bought it with 28K km in Aug 2007) - longest relationship of my life so far.
Sad lol
Its not a pity....you guys got A LOT of awesome cars we didnt in the US, so I dont have much sympathy lol
Excellent video! If there's *one* thing I wish they'd improve on these cars, it'd be a rear center armrest.
I really wish they'd make more Japanese hot sedans in 4WD (or RWD). I don't get what they gain from making everything FWD. Are they 'that' much cheaper to make?!
Always have wondered that myself. Imagine this car with rwd… would literally be perfect.
When they don't have any of those platforms available... Yes, yes its much cheaper to keep it FWD.
This laps faster than 300hp rwd cars - their fwd designs break lap records 😂 The 315hp Type R runs a 2:58 at Virginia International Raceway - the 2006 540hp Ford GT exotic ran a 3:00:6
When people talk about FWD cars like they can't handle its just comedy. These cars boogie and only people who aren't actually keeping track think these are just random fwd cars available from anyone. Meanwhile the lap times are faster than rwd sports cars 😂
As perfect as a car review could get
muchos gracias amigoos :)
@@tim3172 the closest dealership to me has one with no markup. The dealership I bought my previous R has an $8k markup on their R🤮
Do people really spend money on a NEW car still? I sit back and watch other people eat the markup and other costs of a brand new car. Then in a year I'll buy it for 35k when they bought it for 60k
@@tim3172 I’ll walk to work before I pay over MSRP for literally any car.
Great job, guys. Some of your best content of late. Love the format and the writing.
All of which are available on a Elantra n for 37k lol
Excellent video guys!!! I'm sure Zack had sooooo much fun NOT comparing the ITS to the CTR!! hahaha

I really like the part where you guys went over that bump in the road and compared it to a roller coaster. That was really cool and would love to see that spot in the road used for more testing.
For me its just missing vented front seats, but the whole package is so nice, I could probably give that up.. great video as always!
The "bump" edit when talking about the ride cracked me up
