Seeing Tecmo Super Bowl at the video store and then playing it…November 1991, was like getting a fast forward gaming wise. It was so far ahead of anything that had existed at that point. NFL and NFLPA license, which I’m certain was a first. Complete stat tracking for real players with a real NFL schedule. But if you had that and the playbook you could swap out plays with, and the game didn’t play well, it wouldn’t have mattered. We got that and a game that showed subtle things like play action fakes, bootlegs, reverses/end arounds, flea flickers and men in motion smoothly. Even something as subtle as the man following a receiver in motion if the defense was somehow gonna be in coverage, those were LIGHT YEARS ahead of anything we’d ever seen. And it felt like most of the players were adequately represented based on their 1990 seasons. Only exceptions were like Bob Nelson of the Packers, who is pretty OP for a guy who was just okay. The replay value was off the charts, playing head to head put friendships on the line 😂…and to this day, it still gets updated and is a blast to play. For my money, still the best NES game of all time.
Always play with my Giants as a kid if there were someone who could stop Bo Jackson or Barry Sanders, it was Lawrence Taylor, specially in the first Tecmo Bowl…
They don’t make games like these anymore. I miss those days too! Remember when we could buy a game and pop it in and play without a 2 hour (sometimes longer) update? 😂
@@QuinnNoble I remember saving my own money and my parents taking me to Toys R Us to buy Tecmo Bowl and later, Tecmo Super Bowl. I was so proud that I saved that money and bought the games myself. I wish I still had them. I just don't have time to work with the Madden's and other games that have the constant updates and require hours every day just to build a team. Tecmo Bowl was quick and Super Bowl made it feel like real football. I did get Tecmo Kickoff for the DS and enjoyed playing people online. But that really just lasted several months. I do miss it.
I remember getting games from Toys R Us! You would have to grab a slip of paper and bring it to the front counter where they held all the games in a cage! I agree about Madden and all it’s game modes… it takes forever to build a good team. I miss the times when it was simple.
FYI, Tecmo Bowl Tournaments are held all across the country in many different cities each year. The Cleveland tournament has been my go to and it's fantastic.
Tecmo Superbowl was my first. I got chills when the music hit. I didn't realize Quarterback even existed but man you can definitely draw a line directly from their playbook to Tecmo's! I think it was Tecmo Superbowl 3 on SNES that had the first create a player function. So, so, so crucial.
Bo was easily stopped in the Original Tecmo Bowl, especially if you used NY or Washington. His run does not block the top OLB. Banks for NY and Marshall for Washington were unblocked and could hold Bo in check
I did a Super Bowl Prediction video for Super Bowl LV with Goji’s Tecmo Bowl Hack. It was fun, but unfortunately, the sound and video are a little off sync. 😔
Tecmo bowl only has twelve teams cuz those were the playoffs teams that year as for tecmo Super bowl they are making home brew ports from 67-2021 so far plus there is tecmo super bowl tournaments around the country with no one being allowed to use the raiders because of bo Jackson and no one is allowed to use the nose tackle in tournaments cuz it gives unfair sacks on defense
1. How do you do a video on Tecmo Bowl and call the follow-up "Super Tecmo Bowl?" 2. Bo Jackson was far more known for his evasiveness in TSB. But if you played Chicago late in the 1 player mode season, he was faster than any player in the game. LT was fast in TSB, but he was faster in TB (try to kick a FG or XP against him).
Too bad you didn't mention how there is a site that updates the rosters every year. The rom is free to download and there's a lot of free NES emulators out there.
My brother in law and I have played EAs Head Coach a ton.. he has no skill on the sticks and that game gives him a chance to play a game no skills required
The QBs not featured belong to a group called the QB Club which required a different license
@@RetroMisfitGaming This is true. I believe Acclaim had the rights to The QB Club. Those games were like Madden workouts before Madden workouts.
@ correct best part of the QB Club games was the skills challenge the actual football part was horrible
Tecmo Super Bowl was the all time #1 in my eyes. Long days and late nights spent as a kid playing against my brother. Still do to this day!
Its a classic!
Memories, I worked at TECMO from 1993 ~ 2005. Good times...
Best video game of all time.
Wow. Which games did you support during this time?
Thank you for your service 🫡
Kagero: Deception 2 ❤❤❤❤
Thank you and your team for making such an enjoyable game.🙏 It was one of my favorites.🖖

Well put together video about the greatest game ever made. Well done!
It is a great game! Thank you for the kind words!
Bo Jackson was so unstoppable in that game. Same with the Joe Montana Jerry Rice hook up. So many touch via those.
Greatest game in history. Madden wishes it was Tecmo Bowl.
Completely!
Tecmo Super Bowl was definitely my favorite. That was the first game I played an entire season through with the Vikings. Cool video!
It seems the 49ers are the powerhouse! Montana, Rice and Lott!
I remember playing Tecmo Bowl for Shots. This was a college frat game for us.
This is where Bo Jackson should be off limits! 😂
One of the best ever!!!
Such nostalgia
So nostalgic! The music too! Gets me hyped!
Love tecmo. All time favorite
Awe the good old days…. Had a many Tecmo bowl party as a young man in Germany
Always play with my Giants as a kid if there were someone who could stop Bo Jackson or Barry Sanders, it was Lawrence Taylor, specially in the first Tecmo Bowl…
@@marcusgilmore5211 LT was the BO on Defense!
@ yes I agree 100%….
Loved both Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super Bowl! It could be pretty challenging too! Those were the days!

Tecmo Super Bowl was so fantastic getting it on Christmas Day in the early 90s this was so awesome ❤and miss you pops
Techno Super Bowl is still the greatest game ever made. Not techno bowl, I’m talking about techno Super Bowl for regular Nintendo.
@@johnobrien1759 Especially since it had all the teams!
FYI, Tecmo Bowl Tournaments are held all across the country in many different cities each year. The Cleveland tournament has been my go to and it's fantastic.
This was a good watch. Thanks, bro.
Thanks for the kind words! I enjoyed making it!
still playing tecmo super bowl on my anbernic. and rbI baseball.
I play em on my Kinhank. Love it!
All I have to say is Jerry Ball…if you know you know😏😏

Yes! The music is great! Add some of that to our future setlist!
I love playing techno bowl when I was a kid
Living room triumphs!
Best Football game ever! I still play it.
Tecmo Bowl for NES was one of favorite games of all time!
Who’s your team, Mickey?
Chicago Walter Payton!!
Great video!
Thank you Debra! 🙏🏻
They're is also a website / community where they mod tecmo super bowl to the current season each year
I did a video on that too. 🙂

Best football game to date, Tecmo Super Bowl
The best on that game were Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Bo Jackson, and LT can block Kicks
I was very surprised how good Christian Okoye is in the game.
Tecmo Bowl was the first and LAST football game I actually liked.
I was also a fan of NFL Blitz!
I love this game
My cousin and I had actual fistfights over trying to play Bo Jackson.
Best video game ever!
I want that shirt.

The NFL (football) game had a fold up sheet of paper with running plays and passing plays on opposite sides.
Bo was easily stopped in the Original Tecmo Bowl, especially if you used NY or Washington. His run does not block the top OLB. Banks for NY and Marshall for Washington were unblocked and could hold Bo in check
this game was more entertaining to play than 90 percent or more of the games that have been made the last decade
Where'd you get that shirt?!

@@QuinnNoblejust got one😎
It's crazy how the algorithm knows I'm the greatest tecmo player ever, hence why I'm here
You must pick the Raiders. 😂
@@QuinnNoble naw, I want the opponent to run and grab them, so I can grab the browns and blow him out(no Diddy business)... Bo gets nothing!!!
Tecmo Bowl is also available on the original Xbox.
I believe you are right. There is a version on a Tecmo Compilation I think.
It's on the Switch but no player names and no official teams..
Subscribed 👍
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Pc junior had a game that looked somewhat like tecmo bowl but without the same depth. It had speech though
I remember when Joe Montana Sports Talk Football came out on the Genesis. I remember being impressed with the digitized dialogue.
you should try the tecmo bowl hacks, Quinn.

i spent this month trying to learn how the hell football even works. thanks to tecmo bowl i got there.
I learned how to play several sports via video games!
take any nose tackle, a quick down forward and dive will net you a hundred plus sacks a year,
Love the game have a problem with Cincinnati going on fourth in the beginning of the fourth quarter. But I remember the computer played this way.
The computer definitely cheats! 😂
If you play New York against Bo Jackson Lawrence Taylor can keep up with him put it that way
The first really good football game spent many hours on this. Look up the story on why Bo Jackson is overpowered it's great
Sound of the stadium 🏟️ announcer
TOUCHDOWN
So simple! He paved the way for the NFL Blitz guy! 😂
@@QuinnNoble it's better than any Madden NFL Game
IDK. Madden 2004 was pretty legend. It’s the only one that can hang with Tecmo Bowl. 🙃
1. How do you do a video on Tecmo Bowl and call the follow-up "Super Tecmo Bowl?"
2. Bo Jackson was far more known for his evasiveness in TSB. But if you played Chicago late in the 1 player mode season, he was faster than any player in the game. LT was fast in TSB, but he was faster in TB (try to kick a FG or XP against him).
Wait until you see my video on Mario Super Bros.!
I just updated ‘23 rosters in Madden NFL ‘94 for snes check it
Got a link?
I never liked sports or sports games except for Tecmo Bowl and Baseball Stars
NBA Jam was a good one!
Tecmo this and that on ps1 was GREAT
2002 called, they want their hair and chin beard back. Then 1994 called me and asked for their joke back.
I’ll take that as a compliment. After all, this IS a channel dedicated to Retro Games and Nostalgia.
@@QuinnNoble Don't feed the trolls. Great vid,
You do know this man is into retro stuff, right? This means he will wear and look retro in his videos.. That's awesome, man..
Lawerence Taylor was jus as freakishly unfair on both Tecmo Bowl gms
That also made playing defense more fun!
The ljn game isnt ybat hard to play with the play sheet that has the plays

Anyone else get the glitch in super tecmo bowl where the clock changes to 99:99 left in the quarter? I had it happen twice.
Can’t say that I have. 🤔

The problem with nes football games is that they were too slow moving, same with several baseball games.
Same with Basketball games. Double Dribble has not aged well.
with out this game there is no madden
100%!
2 words...BO JACKSON....
Bo Jackson for the win...
