Bro, I just wanna let you know. I’ve been watching your content a lot and decided to download this game for my PS2 Emulator. I played it years ago and, at the time, I was to used to Madden 07 (an amazing game in its own right as you’ve pointed out) and the controls and arcade style of gameplay. But I went back and played 2K5 as an almost 30 year old and holy crap…you’re right this game is legendary status. There’s so much that can be said but the level of realism and player animations is just on another level. On big thing for me is that the cornberback and receiver animations look so much more natural in this game. In madden you’d throw a ball up and it just seemed like CB’s weren’t even trying to make a play on the ball. Here they’re very intelligent and aware. The presentation is top notch, I was playing as the Bengals (my fav team) and they actually had a sign up that said “Welcome to Carson city” in reference to Bengals QB Carson Palmer. Throwing the ball is so much better. It’s totally seamless and you can really thread passes in this game more. The only I really miss is hit stick in madden. That move was so addictive and when you crushed a RB or WR it just felt amazing. But otherwise this game is better. It’s amazing how much you can appreciate things years later. I do wonder what this game would look like today. Would they have gotten lazy like NBA 2K? Maybe.
I had no idea about the VIP system when I played this game as a young'n. Man, you weren't lying about it being 50 years ahead of its time. That shit sounds mind blowing as a feature in 2019.
It gets better. Even the people you played online you could download their VIP profile and play against it. 2K5 was the real deal. 2K5 had offsetting penalties in the game also. I've never seen that in a Football game since.

@@TheTillmanSneakerReview Playing your own music from the hard drive while being in game menus alone was a cool feature, but being able to mark specific segments from the songs and assigning them to in-game situations was absolutely brilliant. Not only did you personalize your gaming experience, you were able to intensivy (is that a word in English?) those moments by choosing the music you thought fit. By the way, it gave the chance to be a little creative.
This game also let you customize downloaded music to insert in specific in-game occurrences. I used to go in and pick which of my own favorite songs on my computer would play when i scored a TD. They would play the songs in the stadium in game-play. Super cool.
ESPN 2K5 was such a good game. I always loved how it had every uniform that every team had ever worn. I’ve never understood why Madden couldn’t do that.

I think in my life I've never be more satisfied than following your blocks in this game.😅 I can't wait till tomorrow to discover other features in this videogame. My favorite feature of the Xbox version was the custom soundtracks. You can put in a preferred song or part of song for about 20 different situations. Throw an interception and I had Kurt Angle's you suck song going. It added a personal touch. Also the quick Fantasy draft before starting an exhibition game against a friend was amazing. Especially if you want to play with your team colors. Madden was always a step backwards.
I rarely hear how 2k5 on xbox allowed for custom music to be clipped into gameplay. it would allow us to place whatever song clip we wanted for a touchdown, turnover, sack. you had to have the songs on the actual xbox harddrive but really made the game fun. The sounds clips fit right into the stadium environment playing on their pa system. would be nice if we saw that more in any type of game.
it's not just the consumers fault because the media, FAANG group, and the dystopian surveillance state that we learned from the several classified information leaks, monopolize and vertically integrate these industries through their many arms, they control where the little money overworked American consumers have goes by media, magazines, writers, Intellectual Property and copyright, and closing competition.
Upon hearing "Clean Living" for the first time when I booted up NFL 2k5 made me a lifelong RJD2 fan. I've had the pleasure of seeing two of his shows live. I miss NFL 2k5 :(
Its the small details. Even down to using your own dwnloaded music in both the menu screen and on field stadium. It was a small thing that really made the game more enjoyable. Halftime shows were amazing as well
The game that made EA snatch the NFL license exclusively, because they knew they were toast with such a superior game out there for a fraction of the cost.
I remember 2K5, it is still my favorite football game although I haven’t played it in 15 years. I remember getting up in the front middle of the night when I was grounded from my PlayStation on school nights just to play it. My PlayStation was even pad locked in my makeshift entertainment center with the wires disconnected. I’d unlock the lock, hook up the wires, play, and put it all back the way that it was just to play 2K5. Then once I learned that light travels, I lightproofed my room. That is how dedicated that I was to this game!
A masterpiece of football gaming. Something to remember: NFL 2K5 was $20 when released. EA saw that a superior product was it's direct competitor and was sold for HALF the price of Madden.
I have a friend who works at ea..the nfl was upset 2k released for 20 as they advised them not to. The nfl chose to give ea the license 2k bit themselves in the foot with the price point

This is truly an amazing game. I just recently got this and I haven't even scratch the surface on the content this game provides. Even on Rookie Mode you really have to earn those yards on the field. They definitely don't give them to you. 😧 If you love football along with hearing Chris Berman's studio commentary this is the game for you! Well worth it! ( Posted by someone who only played Madden 10 on the PS3 long ago. The gameplay on this is very different from that game. Especially when you pass or run. You have to be precise! )
TheSmeltork well ESPN only let license, they really didn’t do anything, this was all 2K and I mean the NBA 2k games have ruled, not sure how similar the studios were.
It was all just presentation for the game to make you feel like watching football on ESPN. It was all great until EA bought exclusive rights for 15 years to just waste it on tickers.
Scott Zummers Nah, 2K’s MyLeague and addition of All Time Teams and even more historical teams keeps it thriving. The only things that suck are MyCareer and MyTeam, but both are completely reliant on microtransactions so it’s pretty hard to complain about that when it’s integral to the game modes.
Man, this is the ONLY football game I enjoy. I seriously bought this for my dad, and watched him play it, and then wanted to get good at it, to play something with him, and ended up falling in love with this game, in the process. I spent months, grinding for Crib unlocks... refined my team to be close to my then-fantasy team... spent WAY too much time in FPS mode, and manager mode... like... God damn. The presentation is beyond fantastic, the control is smooth as butter, and the overall vibe of the game is very mellow, compared to the now dude-bro infested trash that Madden injected into it, to keep the kids interested. The fact I could just watch this game, and be as engaged as the real sport, is something, considered I don't actually like football that much, and every one of my friends that owned this game was just as into it. I'm proud to have this gem, still, and I'm glad emulation saved it for the new crowd, and my optic drive runs the disc better than the original PS2... needless to say, I played the game so much, that the disc was having issues with the music and voice lines... If anyone doubts the claims from people that this game is good, well, if a Goth, snobby misanthrope says a football game from 2004 is good - it might actually be a pretty good game.

The wait is almost over! 2k is officially making a NFL game. Arcade of course but nevertheless it's gameplay will outclass madden in every single way.
Just another random cool thing they included in the game - if you're running into the endzone and just let go of the thumbstick within the 5 yard line or so, the player will automatically enter the endzone with a unique animation, almost taunting. Was fun to do on breakaway plays when no one was close.

Man, 2k5 was so good. Imagine if they were allowed to remaster this game
If only, it could actually happen. 😔
If we can't get NFL 2K5 remastered for current Gaming platforms due to EA having the NFL license, then we should force EA to simply remaster one of the PS2/GameCube/Xbox Madden games (aka one from Madden 2002 to 08) for the PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X/PC, with my money choosing either Madden 2005 or Madden 08 for the HD remaster treatment.
P.S.: Yes, I would actually like for Scott the Woz's dream of getting a Madden 08 HD Remaster to become real (as long as it's the PS2/GCN/Xbox version of the game getting remastered as that's the best one), and I bet other old 🏈 gamers would prefer this too.
Check out LostSoul's videos. They are doing it 😊

@TTCompanion 17 Yes bro.. I could go on and on about how much i like the game lol
Maybe.
You can play them on PS3 bro.
I forgot about the offsetting penalties, true things that happen in football on sundays.....NFL2K5 is the real deal, second to none.
