My mama always used blue bonnet margerine. I know it's so bad for you but every Thanksgiving it's blue bonnet just because mama used it. My cholesterol is so high I don't even know what to use any more. lol Happy belated Thanksgiving
Honestly, out of all the T-Day videos I've watched, yours looks the most delicious and the fact you made everything from scratch, except the potatoes, just makes this dinner even better. And don't nobody hate the instant potatoes.....they are delicious.
Aldi's has white sandwich bread for 98 cents. Perfect for making stuffing. For Rolls they have Hawaiian Rolls for $1.95. Today I scored Atlantic Salmon Fillets for 50% off so I'm adding that to my Thanksgiving meal. I like cooking the Turkey the day off as it just makes the whole house smell so wonderful. After Thanksgiving we pick all the meat off and Roast the bones in the oven til they are browned. Once browned they go in a large stainless pot on the stove with water and veggie scraps and cooked down for 2 days on low. Makes the best bone broth ready to can. I make my homemade pumpkin pie crust the night before as well as cook the pumpkin and make puree from our home grown pumpkins.
That was one of the best Thanksgiving dinners. I have seen thus far on UA-cam. I would rather go the extra $10 and be able to get some kind of protein doesn’t have to be turkey it could be chicken or whatever you happen to like for meat, but for me, it’s all about the sides. You did a fantastic job to be able to put that kind of a spread on for $25 or less is phenomenal. The broth with the fat rising to the top is a beautiful thing. Thank you Lisa.
anazing job, i like the dollar tree stuff, but showing how to do a more traditional tday with an actual turkey was great. i especially like the way you prepare the turkey early, saves from buying broth, the bread making is always awesome. can i suggest a playlist with the episodes where you make things with the flour? it would be useful to have in one place for us to find, when we want to make pasta, pirogi, breat etc.. great job, happy tday.
Being frugal also means trading time for value. Using your time and talent, you created a meal that was BETTER than most people’s more far more expensive Thanksgiving dinner. I wish more people would learn how to cook from scratch.
I absolutely agree with you, some people started making comments on here, basically telling her that she did it wrong and she needed to get other ingredients and make it easier, but it doesn’t make it time efficient, and what she did here was delicious, I look forward to making stuff like this now, she makes it look so easy
We got our 20 lb. turkey at our local Food Depot for $8.40...they were on sale for $.45/pound! I have been cooking my turkeys in Reynolds Cooking Bags for over 40 years, and they come out great every time...
I really love your videos and need more of them. I need a video on Instapot! When to use certain buttons, when to "seal" the pressure valve, and recipes! Lots of LOVE sent from Aberdeen Washington!!! 💙🖤💙

My mama born 1928 taught me to cook a turkey. She as well as me coat the entire turkey with bacon grease and salt with a handful in the cavity and it taste so good!! But this year I felt adventurous and mixed butter with salt, pepper, rosemary, thyme, garlic and onion powder. I then put it over and under the skin, dollop inside. I used the broth plus extra broth I'd canned to make my gravy and dressing. The flavor was out of this world. Since I made enough for freezer meals I'm not cooking Christmas but next year I'm gonna spatchcock a turkey and cooking it. Not sure the spices or mamas recipe but definitely gonna venture out. Blessings y'all!
39:48 Your pot isn’t leaking, but unfortunately the base is starting to split from the rest of the pot 😢 a little bit of water has gotten into the gap during washing, and then when you heat the pot it boils out. Sadly, this means that your pot will start to have patchy/poor heat conduction and eventually the bottom of the pot might come off completely … It happened to me and I had to get a new pot in the end 😢
Lisa, another fantastic video with a lot of really different and useful tips....I especially love when you, Andrew and your mom actually sit at the table and eat and each gives their opinion of the dishes....
You sold me on making turkey the night before, especially with detailed reheating instructions! Otherwise I am too nervous on the day itself that I will ruin it or it takes me forever. And all that natural broth to make other dishes even yummier!!!! What a great idea! And fresh bread!! 🧡 You rock! I am definitely copying/learning a lot of dishes and techniques from this video. Thank you, Lisa!!!!! 🤗
Lisa Dawn I wanted to thank you for your content. I ate at someone else’s house yesterday so no left overs. So I got some turkey slices from Dollar Tree and some dressing mix and made the rollups you did in the past. I added cheese instead of making gravy. And as a side I did your roasted cabbage! You inspire 3:14
I appreciate you sharing your creativity in your videos! I’ve actually learned a lot from you over the years! I’m making Thanksgiving dinner for just my son & I this year. We normally eat at my Mother’s, but anyway… thank you for your tips! You’re amazing! Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍁
Hello from Humboldt County in northern California. I've been watching your channel for quite some time, but today I have literally just sat through 4 of your videos in a row...completely mesmerized. I'm 57, have 3 grown children, 4 grandchildren and I've been cooking from scratch most of my life, but I always find a new idea that looks so delicious. I'm especially impressed that you made your own crunchy onions for the green bean casserole. Thank you for sharing!
Girl, you are so inspirational! You always do your videos that are budget minded, but your cooking skills are amazing, The Norman Rockwell, idea of a turkey, was spot on! I I would have never thought of separating the dark meat, Bravo! I hope it doesn't sound out of character, or offensive, you cook like you're from Appalachia. I am, and very proud of it! You cook like my grandma, my mom and me. It's not the ingredients that are the best; it's the work and heart you put into it.
My sister and I baked our turkey the night before, also. We just visited during and had a great time catching up! (To 4 am!) It was the best turkey (and visit)! Thank you for sharing your life with us. Blessings
I stumbled upon this video and your channel today. I really enjoyed this. With so many people right now that can't put food on their table I liked seeing a budget version of Thanksgiving dinner. Looking forward to watching more of your vids. I can tell you have a very loving heart.
I added sage sausage by Jimmy Dean cooked and crumbled into the stuffing, also 1 apple chopped up with 2cups of dried cranberries plumped up n water first then drained..and just the zest of one orange .. and 1 cup of walnut pieces… it was the best stuffing I ever made.. just a suggestion Only thing missing is the cranberry sauce
Wow. That was a lot of work and looked so good. I cannot believe what you created with those few ingredients. I am amazed. Thanks for the video. I really enjoyed it. Happy Thanksgiving.
What a great video! Almost same price as DT or DG but you got a full turkey. Plus you showed how to use the turkey to flavor everything. I'm surprised you didn't use the butter and some sugar to carmelize the bananas before you put them in the pie.
I love all ur videos!! It really inspires me to cook more stuff from scratch u always make it look so easy.. everything looks delicious and i cant believe u made all thst for $25!
Happy Thanksgiving, Lovey. My husband and I have gotten so much from your wonderful videos, he has been sharing them with guys at work and just know: You are fulfilling part of your life's purpose.🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
By far the best thanksgiving dinner on a budget I’ve seen!!! I watched on where they used so much butter, milk, and other ingredients that it didn’t seem fair. They also only had turkey cutlets that were super thin. You put a lot more work into yours, but it showed in the end! Plus all those leftovers!! FYI on the gravy (which always seems to be my nemesis) if you get a jar and shake floor and water (or broth) to fully hydrate your flour, you can add that into a gravy or sauce that’s too thin. Just make sure the heat is low when you’re doing it, or it will be lumpy. Very impressive!!
The absolute joy to see this video posted yesterday,...I knew I was going to save it for my "dessert", when my own Thanksgiving was complete tonight, kitchen was clean, comfy warm clothes on (we got a snowy Thanksgiving) and I could relax, put my feet up with a nice cold adult beverage, and I'm so happy to I saved I waited.❤ Your videos always bring joy and that you blessed us with multiple Thanksgiving videos this year was simply amazing!!! Thank you for all of your efforts and providing a "dessert" that truly competes with the Mayo cake with Peanut butter frosting I'm going to indulge in now that I've caught up with the important notifications on my phone,...a new That Lisa Dawn video.
Wow your prices are so much better than ours in Canada, just got home from our discount grocery store and picked up a small celery for 3.89 , no name butter was 6.99 for example.
Lisa, you are an awesome chef!!! I'm so impressed with how you broke down that turkey. You created a healthy & wonderful meal. Happy Thanksgiving to you & your family.
actually that's pretty smart to part out the turkey.....bake the breast then another meal the legs would make a awesome soup...wings another meal, thighs another meal.❤❤❤
Let me tell you, I used to be one of those people that would never eat an instant potato, and then I happen to buy a pack of the garlic mashed that you got today, and it was absolutely delicious, it is quick and easy, and if you don’t have the budget to go to a store that has fresh potatoes, this is the best option
Your menu is great! Hearty and flavorful! Yesterday i used my Hamilton Beach 22qt roaster. I love it. I break it out every year to cook my turkey. Yesterday I cooked a 22lb turkey in it and it only took 3 hours! And the breast was 170 when the legs n thighs were done. It was very moist and flavorful. I brined it the night before in the same roaster in a mix of salt, brown sugar, Apple cider, onions, garlic, black pepper. I hate turkey but it was very delicious! Made stuffed mushrooms, sweet potatoes, string beans casserole, broccoli rice casserole n alfredo potatoes. Very easy and not too expensve!
Your dinner and dessert looks delicious! Thank you for taking the time to do another video for your viewers. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Love from Texas ❤
Do I celebrate thanksgiving? no. Am I in america? no. Did I watch the whole thing? yess 🎉
Maybe you could make some of the dishes and try it. It's good food
Lisa Dawn, you always do an amazing job of helping folks maintain their dignity regardless of their circumstances and you have the heart of a teacher.
Who else “likes” the video before they watch? 😂 😂
I do ❤
Me!

I LOVE how you use real butter. EVERYTHING IS BETTER with butter! Happy Thanksgiving
I lost my mom last November. She always said the same thing about butter. (and she was right, lol). Happy Thanksgiving!
Definitely better. Full price butter where I am is $6.99/lb, just regular unsalted stick butter. One brand was $2.49/lb this week, but it was limit 2.
My mama always used blue bonnet margerine. I know it's so bad for you but every Thanksgiving it's blue bonnet just because mama used it. My cholesterol is so high I don't even know what to use any more. lol

It likely did come with a manual (if it was bought brand new) but some people find it easier to learn by watching how it’s done. I know I do!

You’re spoiling us with the Thanksgiving videos! Thanks henny and happy thanksgiving 🦃!
A good resource for bread is Jimmy John’s gives out one day old bread free two days before Thanksgiving!!!
Dawn, Andrew and Mom, hope your Thanksgiving was cozy, full of warmth, good food and lots of love🥕🍗🍞🧅🥧🍰
You should have your own cooking channel I love the way you cook your meals

Your pot isn’t leaking, but unfortunately the base is starting to split from the rest of the pot 😢 a little bit of water has gotten into the gap during washing, and then when you heat the pot it boils out.
Sadly, this means that your pot will start to have patchy/poor heat conduction and eventually the bottom of the pot might come off completely …
It happened to me and I had to get a new pot in the end 😢
Thanks!
Thank you! 💙
Your videos are so helpful and refreshing. I appreciate all that you offer. Thank you for all you do.
I guarantee your kitchen is smelling amazing right now!
Oh! Happy to see this, I went back and watched an older video.
I love learning new baking techniques from watching your videos. Thank you Lisa for all you do for us. Cheers
Aldi is building a store in my town right now. One wall is up so far. I can hardly wait to shop there. Thank you Lisa for all of your videos.
You are SUCH a peach, Lisa! I just love you!
Happy Thanksgiving.. Lisa, Andrew & Lisa's Momma!🤎🦃🍽🙏🏻
I’m the same way with seasoning turkey- simple! The flavor speaks for itself.🤩
You are such a good cook! Happy Thanksgiving.
Happy thanksgiving, Lisa! I’m a silent sub and enjoy your content so much. It’s my asmr. 😊
Thank you so much, you're so sweet 💙💙💙
You never disappoint Lisa! Ty for another fantastic video Happy Holidays!!!!
Cooking like you’re from Appalachia is a great compliment! That’s great cooking!!
I added sage sausage by Jimmy Dean cooked and crumbled into the stuffing, also 1 apple chopped up with 2cups of dried cranberries plumped up n water first then drained..and just the zest of one orange .. and 1 cup of walnut pieces… it was the best stuffing I ever made.. just a suggestion
Only thing missing is the cranberry sauce
This was amazing Lisa!!!
I really enjoyed this video. I liked how you showed us how to put everything together from scratch.
I love that you are posting more frequently. I’m watching your subscriber count rise with delight. ❤
Another Lisa Dawn so soon, Christmas came early!
Ma’am!! You are an amazing cook and the fact that you made all of that on a budget is outstanding!
What did we do to deserve so many Lisa videos lately 😭❤️
Oh, my! The table looks pretty and the plate looks like a home run. Thanks for sharing and Happy Thanksgiving to your family!
Truly wonderful and relaxing home-cooking video. A joy to watch your friendly, yet expert presentation.

Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow. Yes, I greatly enjoy watching your experiments. Thanks for sharing!

Wow your prices are so much better than ours in Canada, just got home from our discount grocery store and picked up a small celery for 3.89 , no name butter was 6.99 for example.
Made me hungry, looks delicious😋

actually that's pretty smart to part out the turkey.....bake the breast then another meal the legs would make a awesome soup...wings another meal, thighs another meal.❤❤❤

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Andrew 😊
Love your videos! Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you for sharing your talents.
I’m convinced you are a wizard and I am completely mystified by you! This looked absolutely bomb!
Let me tell you, I used to be one of those people that would never eat an instant potato, and then I happen to buy a pack of the garlic mashed that you got today, and it was absolutely delicious, it is quick and easy, and if you don’t have the budget to go to a store that has fresh potatoes, this is the best option
It all looked wonderful! Especially the pie! Thank you for the video!
Looks and sounds amazing!
Looks amazing! Also love the leaves on the table!
