I’m 71 years old and have learned many new cooking, shopping tips and delicious recipes from your wonderful videos. Thank you!
This 70 yo agrees! 🤗
So does this 75 year old!@@debimorsette1685
I'm 69 and I agree too!!
I love this type of video.
going on 66, always cooked and love her videos too. cheers eat well.
When I use those little rice packets I always add in some additional rice from the cabinet to stretch it! So easy!
Definitely a great idea!
Totally gonna steal this idea! 🙏🏻
That's smart. Good tip. Thx.
Adding extra rice also helps stretch the seasoning to be less salty. Those prepackaged rices can be way over seasoned. Just be sure to add extra water to compensate for the additional rice.
Thanks! What a great idea!
Lisa I'm a senior on a fixed income you have inspired me so much Thank You 😊
most of us are. we dont have to eat crap exactly if we learn how to cook low cost meals like these.
The US is truly the world's most expensive third world country
Thanks for all your work filming and editing these videos. I know it's a lot of work. Much appreciated; you are awesome!
Thank you 💙
I am just always so happy to see a new video from you! Your presentation and budget consciousness is so enjoyable to watch and even at 60 years old, we're never too old to learn and laugh (pee household) and I can't wait to make the "budget sausage divan". Never thought about about using the pasta water and cream cheese, great idea!!! Thanks so much for all your time and efforts and also, thanks to Andrew and Mom for supporting you with your efforts.
Thank you, Lisa! I really look forward to a new video coming out. You are a wonderful cook and I'm learning new recipes! PS... I love these kind of videos!!
Yes, you took the words right out of my mouth. :-)
Yes 🙌 indeed 😊❤
please do another 5 dollar dinner show - really appreciate your creativity and knowledge.
You are my favorite of the budget content creators. I’m so happy you’re back to regularly posting again! I know unlike the others you work a full time job away from the internet, but that’s what also makes you so real with it. Love your stuff!!
I’ve definitely missed seeing Lisa’s regularly. She is closer to my type of cooking than most others.
Yes, do $5, Walmart, Dollar General and Harris Teeter
Avocado trick: use a basic butter/dinner knife. If the avocado is ripe, it will work just fine - and you don't have to worry about a scary knife cutting accident.
Everything looks great! I really appreciate the fact that you mention keeping the fat on the chicken because you like it and have no dietary reason to remove it. I think, in our fat-avoiding society, people are afraid to enjoy the fats that come with food, and chicken fat is one of the things that makes a dish so delicious!
Fat is flavor
People tend to forget that some vitamins and minerals are fat soluble. So you need some fat in your diet to absorb them.
I enjoyed comparing $5 meal plans from three different stores and your creativity is a real talent.
We have a family of 8 and I always feel like a Rockstar when I can get our dinner around $10 with variety, nutrition and leftovers!😍🤩
Thank you Lisa, we love your videos x
You should have " buy me a coffee" or the like.
Your hard work is appreciated x
Just love that Lisa Dawn. She is just a refreshing change from all the fake others I see.
Hi Lisa i wanted to share something with you since you shop at food lion. If you shop at dollar general during the week on the bottom of your receipt you will receive a coupon that says $5 off $25 on saturday. That $5 coupon can be used at food lion on saturday because they except all competitors coupons. I usually get at least $30 worth of groceries give the coupon then enter my number for digitals and pay like $15 good luck😊
I'm so glad that you're back!! I missed you while you were gone. As someone who is physically disabled & on SSI-Disability I have learned alot from your videos like this one. You've taught me various ways to use my DT, DG, and other non-typical grocery stores to make it to my next actual grocery store trip. I have a DT within the radius of my mobility scooter, and now I can go there if needed & use this knowledge. Thanks, I'm definitely interested in more videos like this. ☺️
Gribenes...that's what the fried chicken skin bits are called. Yes, they are delicious. Absolutely love your videos.
yummy is that a southern term?
You are so grounded and realistic. And a very good "not" professional cook - great techniques.
Hi Lisa, everything you make looks so delicious. I’m wondering if you follow recipes or do you just cook from the heart? You are so creative!
I’ve said this before, but I want to say it again, I enjoy watching your videos because you have a calming vibe and you are a great teacher. ❤
When I’m just learning to cook something, I tend to read recipes and watch cooking videos of things I don’t know how to make, and then adapt those recipes to my preferred cooking methods/ingredients/spices/etc. Once I’m comfortable cooking an ingredient or combo of ingredients, I usually am very flexible in how I decide to prepare it.
The low pressure way you approach cooking is truly comforting for my depression
Better said, for all of the terrible things on youtube, I'm sure you are helping many that are struggling to look forward to their meals.
I love this video. Please do more. I'm going to try pasta with cream cheese and sauage this weekend. Thanks for the idea.
I love watching these videos. It gives families choices when money is tight. There are so many foods I will not buy or eat. But I’m sure if we were broke and hungry I’d eat them.
Thank you for your videos. You’re a sweetie.
I'm in the hospital and bored out of my skull...so enjoy a little bit of Lisa Dawn's beautiful face and gentle voice to brighten my morning! I look forward to all of your videos. I wish you did more of them 😊
i always buy it in the casings and just remove the casing to use as ground meats
Same, as I have gotten older simply don't digest the casings as well.
I love how you use beans often. We love beans and you inspire creativity in the kitchen.
Do you have a video about work lunches? I'm staggering and burned out on sandwiches and take out. I bet you would have great ideas! ❤️
Cook an extra dinner portion. Take it the next day for lunch.
I just introduced my husband to gnocchi and he is in love with it. I’m so happy they have it at dollar tree because at Walmart it’s just over $3. I also always buy tortillas, beans and rice, and chicken broth from dollar tree. I love your videos!
I really liked the idea of the three different stores and 5 dollar meals each. You did an excellent job making each unique.
ANOTHER gift from Lisa!!!
We appreciate ALL you do to share these with us!
Lisa I love your “no waste” approach you and your family have when cooking! Your food always looks awesome and never breaks the bank. Keep up the great videos!
Michigan Aldi
Sausage $2.45
Cream cheese $1.65
Pasta $1.09
Peas $0.75
Total $5.94
Love your videos Lisa!❤
Wish we had an Aldi near us..! I do wonder sometimes WHY some great markets and stores are situated WHERE they are..! We have the big supermarkets (SHAW’S and Stop & Shop). Our Dollar Tree is a disgrace..! No frozen or refrigerated food. No good containers..! Dollar general is the same as far as stick being in the aisles.. apparently there is very little ‘help’ despite so many people being out of work. 😠 I find myself ‘stocking’ shelves..! But I’m sure there is some sort of insurance regulations that preclude my doing that, legally..!! 🙄
I’m going to make that second one first. We really like peas too. 😂 I did bust out laughing. I startled my husband when I did.
Lol, I'm so making that one too, only with some frozen spinach, but the "pee household " was priceless!
@@anitafoss2133 yes, exactly what I was going to do. I have some in the freezer now.
That was funny😆
I love these dollar amount challenge videos and using different stores. Thanks for sharing!
Great video! Awesome ideas for a quick meal on a busy work night. Do you have Grocery Outlet down there? They are popping up in the burbs all around Philadelphia. Keep up the great content and Go Phillies!
I Live just a little down the rd from you and I absolutely love your Channel!!!😊
Yes love the grocery store idea please.
Lisa Dawn, I think you do a great service with your videos.
I love watching your videos .. everything you cook looks delicious.. Make more videos !!! 😁
All the recipes look delicious!
I agree, chicken thigh are the easiest to cook and they’re also my favorite! looks amazing
I shop at Aldi almost exclusively, and have done so for 20 years. But, I don't like Aldi's ground bulk sausage. It has gristle in it. So, if you bite down on it, you may break a tooth (in my opinion). I have to go to Walmart to get a brand bulk sausage (gristle free). Also, I have found that I do not like the spice that is used in Italian sausage -- I think the spice is called Anise. It tastes like licorice to me. So, when I make Italian dishes, I use the bulk "brand" sausage (plus ground beef). Thanks, Lisa, for all your wonderful videos. Give a few pets and hugs to "the Loaf" for me!
Or camping...those rice packets would be very handy. I love camping. Thanks for sharing.
Hey love your channel 😊 thank you for sharing 🙂
I’m so glad to see you making videos for us more often. Your channel is my favorite for budget meals. So many of us need this during these hard times. I appreciate you so much. Tfs, these recipes. They look delicious!❤
Yes, more plz.
You have saved my family from mac and cheese with tuna and peas with the sausage, cream cheese dish! Thank you for sharing ❤ from my house to yours!
Yes! I love these types of videos! And you're creativity when combining ingredients. I'd never have thought to put that dollar tree list of ingredients together! Great job!!!
Love your videos Lisa
💙💙💙
At 76 I agree with all of “ those of a similar age group.” Grocery shopping has become a chore where it was , for me anyway, once fun. Yup, I used to enjoy grocery shopping. Your shopping tips and cooking suggestions are helpful.
Your site is the first one I check every day. Always happy to see a new one but also rewatch your older ones going all the way back to those listed as oldest.
Please keep them coming. Thanks.
Thanks for the new video!! I’m always excited to see them!! 😊
Same, a Lisa video is like getting mail that's not a bill or junk, it's like a letter or card from a friend. I have to get my own dinner etc., done and then grab a beverage of choice and watch it uninterrupted.
Thanks for your videos. Am doing alot of lentil dishes now and bought a pressure cooker.
I like the idea of getting the ingredients from different stores
I’m so happy to see another vid! Thank you for your hard work!! ❤
I LOVEEEEE YOUR VIDEOS Lisa!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 keep 'em coming!!❤️😋🍽🧅🧄🫑 appreciate your hard work & beautiful meals!🥘
I love this style of video. Thank you. I made the smoked sausage gnocchi dish tonight. It was really yummy. Thank you.
Love your videos. You narrate so well. They flow nicely. Your recipes are creative.
I usually roast chicken thighs in the oven on a rack so it is crispy crispy but your rice recipe looks really good.
You have great ideas on meals. Thank you Lisa Dawn and Family ❤
yes I'd love to see more videos like this one! Good job as always Lisa!
These were great 5 dollar meals, look forward to more
I absolutely love this style of video . Your idea's are so original and you make things I likely never would consider. They always look delicious and you make me want to try them. Thank you for putting so much effort into these videos, it is appreciated.
I have been bingeing your old videos this week as I’ve been laying around sick. I am SO happy to see a new upload; you’ve made my day! ♥️
Such a wonderful budget video. I've actually made a few of your recipes this week. I love how you hit the food groups.
I wasn’t expecting to like these meals, but I gotta say they look yummy and filling. Good job! I will be trying them!
awesome job once again lisa
I love these videos! They give me some great ideas for money saving dinners! Love from Texas ❤
Great video gave me some ideas on what to cook. Would love to see more like this.
I love your videos. I do the same thing with my chicken skins.
Everything looked delish as always! Yes, please do another video using the other stores.
What a wonderful service you are providing! With a big side of deliciousness. So much inspiration for attractive and tasty meals on a strict budget. We all want to feed our families beautiful, nutritious food. Thank you, Lisa - you are greatly appreciated.
I am absolutely addicted to your videos! You are such a kind soul & your easy-going, make-it-work-with-what-we-have attitude is something I don’t see a lot of online. Definitely a breath of fresh air. Thank you for what you’re doing!
Lisa-I had to zoom in on what is written on the cutting board by the sink!!😂😂😂
Thanks for another great video.
We have been making “carcass” soup every time we get a rotisserie chicken from Sam’s. We have you to thank for showing the basket to your instant pot along showing how we can freeze veggies scraps and make broth.
Getting ready this week to start our winter milk jug seed starter.
Can’t wait for the garden fresh vegetables.
Looks great! Thanks for always making it easy to follow and accessible!
It be neat to see a Family Dollar vs Dollar General both a $5 Budget Version and a normal/realistic budget.
YAY!!!! Thanks Lisa! You are such a pleasure to watch❤ LOVE to Andrew and Mama too!! 🥰
I love your red bean container. I enjoy watching your videos!
More of this. You do a wonderful job of teaching how and why you do something and what you can substitute for an ingredient. Love it!
Yes please, more videos like this one 🎉
Such a treat to get another video fom you so soon!!!!
Another video yay!
I’ve made gnocchi with instant mashed potatoes and flour. Very easy and very affordable also!
I love your videos and the fact that you remind people to use resources in our areas and the fact that everyone should be able to eat a tasty meal!!! Love you.
More please !
This was a great video Lisa! That Dollar Tree meal looked very filling. All three were great!
I’m so happy your channel is growing! You deserve it!! ❤
As always, delicious meal ideas, and delightful conversation from you! Thank you ❤
You make me not feel alone ❤. You see us folks who literally live in poverty. So thankful for you!
I’m living on fixed income and your meals 3 of them feed me for a week. Also a lot of times I get the beans rice pasta from food bank so it’s a win win situation. More please.
Yea another great Lisa Dawn video! Always a treat. Thank you.
I got several of those Melinda's sauces in little minis for $1 at Walmart. They also had three interesting options for ketchup that were 4oz for $1 each.
Would love to see more videos like this!
I would love to see another #5 dinners from 3 additional stores. Ty!
I truly appreciate your videos!!!!! We are a family of 8 that is feeling crushed by these grocery prices, but you always give me a new idea to try on the cheap!!!
I love your cooking videos more than any others. Great idea for using the gnocchi. The same thing would probably be good with those pierogis from grocery outlet instead of the gnocchi. I always struggle with ways to prepare both gnocchi and pierogies.
i freeze the skin and add it to the chicken stock pot, when i make broth.
You can squeeze the sausage out of the casings pretty easily
It's so satisfying to watch you core and slice the avocado 😅 love asmr
Wow, the pasta, peas, and cream cheese meal looks really good, and I never would have thought to combo those ingredients. Thank you!
I love to take chicken skins and lay them flat on parchment paper on a baking sheet and season them and then cover with parchment paper and another baking sheet on top and place in the oven and they get flat and crispy it’s soooooo good
I love the $5 meals thank you for sharing
