I only have one store, and it's very high and never mark anything down, you are so blessed to have a variety of stores to choose from! God Bless you, Lisa.
I love cabbage. In my brokest of days, I made a cabbage and potato soup every week. Diced cabbage, a couple white potatoes, one onion, one bunch of parsley, two veggie bouillon cubes, and salt and pepper. Either in a crockpot all day or simmered in a pot till everything was tender. Very simple but very tasty. Any bouillon, broth, or stock would work.
I adore cabbage and I do a deconstructed version of stuffed cabbage, instead of rolling them, I layer the cabbage, meat, rice and sauce like lasagna layers. I have even used tortillas on top and bottom so it turns into a kind of stuffed cabbage "pie" very yummy. I also use new baby cabbages in tuna wraps (in stead of lettuce and wrap the tuna salad with it) I have also done a finger food idea with cabbage, sliced ham, and pickles that are the smaller ones that you wrap with ham and the cabbage and add cheese and salsa on top.
I also love 5o use cabbage as salad greens in the winter when lettuces are so expensive! I use them just like lettuce and also use them on tacos replacing the lettuce with cabbage!
I grew up eating cabbage rolls they're so good. But.... Bless my sweet momma's heart. She wouldn't pre cook the rice and there were times it was a bit crunchy 😂. But we ate them and were grateful. She tried 🤣
We grew up with beef and cabbage soup. It is very economical and so good. On my grandma's hand written recipe it says serve with fried corn bread, pepper sauce and sweet tea. 😂And that's exactly how we do it
Thank you for the excellent ideas. I love cabbage and don't use it nearly enough. It is definitely budget friendly and delicious. Maybe next time try a deconstructed egg roll. Yummy 😋
Omg. Freezing the cabbage - mind blown. I’m going to try that this week. My favorite cabbage recipe is chopped cabbage and potatoes on a baking sheet, add chopped polish sausage and bake. The sausage drips the fat onto the cabbage and makes a great sheet pan meal. You can add vinegar if you like that combo.
I make a soup with it, cabbage, canned tomatoes , onions, carrots, celery, turnips , parsnips, garlic, chicken or vegetables bullion. My mom used to make this, it was a “diet, cleansing soup back in the very early 80s, I add some grated parm, abd a splash of tobacco…sooo simple yet, so yummy and very inexpensive. I think I’m gonna hv to make it tomorrow, be great with kale, diced potato , white beans or kidney beans,I think ham or turkey would also taste great in it. ❤
Doing the thick cabbage slices like that in a sheet pan with some water, underneath a whole chicken roasting in the oven makes them absolutely delish (from soaking up the chicken liquids). Even if the head of cabbage is old and dehydrated aka. forgotten cabbage lol - it still turns out amazing.
I boil my cabbage head into water. My friend's sister who works as a chief in a nursing home, freezes her heads. I just made a huge pan of rolled cabbage last week. I used diced tomatoes, tomato sauce and part of a jar of spaghetti sauce. then added spices and stirred and used that for my sauce. I also use rice in my filling. I used hamburger, sausage and lamb.
My mom used to make cabbage rolls. We would eat smoked ham hocks and cabbage.Momma would also make potatoes with it.For me , a head of cabbage is too much.If I make it, I will get the smallest one I can find.I will cook it with Opa,s Sausage, from New Braunfels or another brand.HEB Grocery stores sell Mrs.T,s Pirogi which are frozen, they're good. Now Lisa makes me want to go buy some sausage, pirogis and cabbage. By the way I love her cat.Her fur baby looks like my late son Joe.
I love cabbage! One of my favorite ways is dicing the cabbage into a large dice toss with whole grainy mustard, caraway seeds, olive oil, salt and pepper. I put it under the broiler when it starts to brown I give it a toss and back under the broiler until it’s to your liking.
My favorite cabbage recipe, hands-down, is haluski. I could eat my way through a truckload of it. Great video as usual! Love how easy you make it seem to make pierogis from scratch! I have to recommend the Tupperware microwave pressure cooker to you, if you’re ever cooking for a crowd and need your appliances available - you could do your potatoes to mash in it and keep your instant pot free. Also I have to encourage cutting out the core of the cabbage, trimming it up and snacking on it with salt! I think you’ll really like it.😊
Great vlog! We,actually, don't use cabbage all that often but when I do I use it for soup,a meatball dish that I make. And that's,literally, all I can think of right now. These are awesome recipes!
I sauté onions and finely diced carrots with evoo, course salt, cracked black pepper and red pepper flakes and when that is ready I add in thinly sliced cabbage and some rice wine vinegar and let it cook...the result is so delicious!
My mom would always lay a base layer of flat cabbage on the cooking pan to prevent any potential scorching. I would gobble those leaves up too when it came to eat.

I'm so glad you posted this video! I still have two heads of cabbage I got on sale for 17 cents per pound staring at me every time I open the fridge. Can't wait to try some of your ideas.
After watching your videos for the longest time, I finally decided to try making perogies. I hated them as a kid. Then, as an adult, I tried them at a party to be nice to the hostess and loved them. I thought it was just the way she made them, since she's Russian and I'd only had Italian cooked ones. So I was apprehensive about cooking my own. They are the absolute BEST I've ever had! Thank you so much for giving me the push to try. I will say that it took longer than I expected. But I can make them ahead of time and stick them in the freezer. Also, the hostess potato filled and cabbage filled ones. They're both delicious.
My grandmother used to make stuffed cabbage. She used very fatty beef and uncooked rice so the rice would adsorb all the fat. Never cooked them in sauce, but we would eat them with ketchup 🤷♀️.
My favorite way to eat cabbage is chopped and cooked with diced onion, garlic, butter and when it’s done add sugar and vinegar, maybe a tablespoon or so of each (or to taste) and cooked wide noodles! I can make a meal out of it. 😋 But I just made egg roll in a bowl with leftover pork loin. It was really good! Helps when you like cabbage though.
I love coleslaw and sauerkraut. I knew someone who made their pierogi filling with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. I loved it and never found them pre made like that. Might have to try making them myself. I love your videos and look forward to them. Thanks so much!
Premade sauerkraut filled piroschki are available in the frozen section of my supermarket here in Germany. But they are an imported Polish product, I believe. ( I am so greateful for the European Common Market every day.)
I just love cabbage! Your recipes all look wonderful and I cannot wait to try them! My current favorite way to cook cabbage is in my slow cooker. I cut up bacon with my kitchen shears, right into a skillet and cook until crisp. Pour that bacon and grease into the slow cooker, then add wedges of cabbage. Add a little chicken stock, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper. Then cook on high for 3 hours. Perfect.
I love al things cabbage. Fried with bacon grease and bacon or add smoked sausage. Stuffed cabbage rolls. Slaw. Irish potatoes and cabbage. ALL of it. Your cabbage and perogies with the sausage looks fabulous. V-8 Juice or regular spicy tomato juice is fabulous over cabbage rolls
My Aunt Julie used to make stuffed cabbage using Campbells (and only Campbells) tomato soup for these. She was a great Polish cook. I'm not sure why, but Campbell's tomato soup has an incredible flavor after it's been simmering (she cooked hers on the stove top) for hours with the meat and cabbage.
I love diced cabbage and fresh squeezed lime is great on shrimp and chicken tacos. Cook the chicken and shrimp spicy (franks reds hot, siracha, hot sauce). I also make a slaw with cabbage, diced tomato, bell pepper and onion with a sweet mix (mayo, sugar and vinegar). Of course sautéed or boiled cabbage.
those cabbage core are edible, you can cut them thin and use in stir fry dishes.....i like my cabbage just boiled with salt and pepper, or an apple slaw with onions, rasins and some pecans and a sweet slaw dressing or in soups.......or a slaw with cucumbers and onions with a hot slaw dressing that is home made.......
Those cabbage rolls look divine! I’m definitely going to try and make some. And I completely agree with you that cabbage is an unsung hero! Helen Rennie also has a UA-cam channel and she once made a pan of slowly caramelised cabbage which I tried. It was sweet and umami and so good. I ate it with a grilled cheese sandwich and it was SO NICE. Highly recommend!
I had an overload of cabbage in my house so yesterday for dinner we had an Asian salad. 10 cups Shredded cabbage and sliced green onions. Then you crush up a couple packs of dry ramen noodles into small bits before opening the package( don’t add the flavoring packet) and toast them in a pan with a little butter, sesame seeds, and half cup slivered almonds. Once cooled mix it in with the cabbage, green onion, and sauce. The sauce is half cup oil, a fourth cup white vinegar, half cup sugar, and 2 tablespoons soy sauce. I mixed in some dried cranberries and it was sooo good. There are a bunch of recipes for it on Pinterest. Another thing I like with cabbage are potstickers with those premade wonton wrappers. They’re a lot of work so I’ve only made them a few times but I love them. I used to make cabbage steaks and need to do it again soon.
My chef friend gave me a recipe for the best cabbage rolls I've ever had in my life. I core my cabbage before using the freezer hack. I can't share the entire cabbage roll recipe but will tell you it uses Cavenders Greek Spice and oh my goodness that makes the cabbage rolls taste sooo good. I told my chef friend I sort of wished he'd not shared the recipe with me because the cabbage rolls I made with his recipe were so much better than the cabbage rolls I usually bought at my local deli that it had ruined the deli cabbage rolls for me, they were no longer delicious. He told me to make a ton of the recipe and freeze the un-sauced rolls, lol.
When I lived in Russia I got to experience cabbage filled buns-SO good! I make them at home now, mincing the soft boiled cabbage with onion, garlic, salt and butter, and using it as a filling in the center of the buns. Fresh dill chopped into it is also amazing, also mushrooms!
I'm also a cabbage lover. My favorite way to make it is to fry up slices of bacon and before they're completely done, toss in sliced cabbage, put the lid on, turn the heat down low and let it cook slowly... So good!
Thank you for sharing some really great and budget friendly recipes. Oen of the great things about cabbage is that it stores well for a very long time.
I love cabbage but in Australia where I live the cost up to $20 my Cole’s supermarket sells small ones for $6 I think is still expensive. Another episode of yummy easy meals thank you.
My mom made a whole stuffed cabbage (slice the top off, hollow it out with a sharpened metal spoon, fill, put the top back on, tie w/string, and cook in a stock pot with the tomato sauce). Another great use of cabbage is to make sauerkraut, a jar at a time, and put the stalk (or a picking cuke) in the center of the jar!
I like cabbage soup or I make coleslaw. My favorite way to preserve it is to ferment it as sauerkraut. 😊So good! I’m also a fan of fried cabbage and Polska with onions. Yummy 😋

I can make a meal out of it. 😋 But I just made egg roll in a bowl with leftover pork loin. It was really good! Helps when you like cabbage though.
Great video. I love all things cabbage so I'm super inspired.
Yesssssss girl!! I love cabbage too!! Soo underrated. Thanks for the cabbage recipes!!
Thank you for your videos. You are such a good cook and nice person. I love your ideas. It helps me a lot.
Just bought some cabbage, I can't wait to try these recipes!
Cabbage is delicious!
I like making hash with cabbage, carrots, potatoes and ham.
those cabbage core are edible, you can cut them thin and use in stir fry dishes.....i like my cabbage just boiled with salt and pepper, or an apple slaw with onions, rasins and some pecans and a sweet slaw dressing or in soups.......or a slaw with cucumbers and onions with a hot slaw dressing that is home made.......
Thank you for the stir fry idea 💜
With all the wonderful food you cook, I bet the neighbors are jealous of the smell of your house. 😊
Your food makes me so hungry. Makes me feel all esssyy inside. Yummy

OMG! My method of learning a new recipe is just like yours!
So good!
I do that too. Awhile back I saw a recipe on hillbilly kitchen for this and have done it ever since.
Love making stuffed cabbage
Thank you for sharing some really great and budget friendly recipes. Oen of the great things about cabbage is that it stores well for a very long time.
I love Crack Slaw, or sometimes called Egg Roll In A Bowl.
Hi Lisa Aldi usually has their roll of ground sausage for the same price and they have about 3 different ones😊
Yummy 😋
