Why don’t you have a million subscribers? Your videos are so REAL. Real cooking, real flavor, real budget and great for real people. Thanks for sharing your meal ideas and prices. Keep up the good work.
I always appreciate the genuine earnestness you put into explaining your meal choices & how encouraging you are for those who might struggle with thinking of what to cook. With today's record high corporate profits (let's stop calling it inflation & start calling it what it really is - the corps milking us dry), this is the education we all need.
It's literally inflation. The Resident is setting us up for collapse. He's (or whomever is pulling strings. If he's unfit to stand trial, he's incapable of pulling the crap that's going on),throwing billions to foreign countries, printing money like it's going out of style, a 27% income tax increase for the average person and buying oil from countries who'll gladly take our help, but would love to destroy us all. Stop puking up literal communist propaganda. You're not paying attention.
It's so true, so many people live paycheck to paycheck or meal to meal. Even if these are not the most nutrient rich meals, they will get a small family by if they only have $5.
I often cook budget meals that could be more nutrient rich but it’s nice to think about all the preservatives and additives you’re avoiding when you cook from scratch.
Every time I hear about how expensive food is, I think of your channel. I wish everyone knew what yummy, filling dishes were possible on such a tight budget.
I appreciate that you share the meals individually. Thinking like a shopper or thinking like a cook isn't a natural ability. Some people might buy the whole week's groceries at once, but piece it together meal by meal so they know how to cook it when they get home. Keep it coming!
I made the Chorizo Ramen tonight, I used 4 packages of Ramen but only one season pack, and it was still plenty of flavor. My kids loved it even though it had a kick to it. They asked if I would please make it again 😊🎉so definitely a success 🙌 thank you so much for your recipes ❤️
Sweet potato. Carrot. Onion. Tortilla Limes Pepperjack cheese Sour Cream Strip cut veggies. Toss in oil. Salt and pepper. Roast at 425° until tender. Put some sour cream in a small bowl. Add lime juice w zest. Salt and pepper. Add small amounts of h²0 until drizzlely but not watery. Put Tortillas in damp paper towel and microwave 15 sec. Assemble and you're welcome 😊
The amount of cheese used will not amount to much for this one recipe. It costs $1.97 for 8 oz of it at Walmart. Then you can also use it for other meals.
"Sweet potato down!" I laughed out loud. How is the new stove working out? Is the double oven worth it? I love how you honor your mother by having her live with you. I still say these companies should hire you to make a weekly flyer of meal ideas.
Girl, grow you some sweet potatoes with those end pieces! Put in water til they grow some slips and when it's warm enough plant the whole thing, they do well in pots. You can also carefully remove the slips and keep in water as the roots are growing and plant just the slips. 😊
I have some sweet potatoes that someone was going to toss that I'm working on getting slips from, so I didn't even think about trying to get some from those pieces, but that's definitely a good idea!
I absolutely LOVE watching your videos Lisa!!! You're one of the only channels I follow that I will rewatch videos just because I love watching you. (And also if I need a fix when you haven't put out a new video in a couple weeks. Lol) Keep doing what you do...we love it!! Hi to Andrew and your Mom too!! 👋
As always, thank you so much for your time and efforts. I just love your style of cooking and your chatting while you cook. The kitchen is the heart of the home and you show how to put together a meal without 99 items and taking out a loan 😂. Please keep doing what you do, it's greatly appreciated.
Not so much waiting for the paycheck I find buying the one or two meals at the closer stores is doable when you don't have a car and have to walk and carry or taking the bus. There is no way to feel safe anymore either walking around with a ton of groceries. ❤the chili Mac idea... making that if I can find everything at my dollar tree.
I LOVE chorizo!!! I eat mine with eggs. Ill cook the package of chorizo(around 10 min or until most of the grease is cooked out and it looks similar to hamburger) and put in 10-12 cracked eggs. When you cook the eggs to your liking its done. I then warm up tortillas and have chorizo burritos!! Ill add salsa, sour cream, green onions, green sauce. Yum. But i do want to preface that chorizo is HEAVY!! So anyone that doesn't have a gallbladder(like me) beware!! If you have any tummy issues or ibs eat this at your own discretion!! 😂 I can only eat this once every couple months, i wish i could eat it daily!!! ❤
Please, look at the ingredients on the chorizo you're buying. Chorizo is the seasoning, you can take ground pork and season it yourself to taste great. Most tube style Chorizo is made of terrible bits of meat like lymph nodes and salivary glands.
@TodayWeCanTry THANK YOU!!!! I just read your comment. I just liked the taste of it, and never thought to look at the ingredients!!!! I look at ingredients on literally EVERYTHING else!!! I feel really dumb. Lol
F it. Here ya go Sweet potato. Carrot. Girl. Please make more videos if you can. I love your videos above every other budget cooking channel. You are really and know what it is REAL about. Most people just do it for clicks
When I have had to make mac and cheese without butter i put a couple of teaspoons of oil on the mac and toss it well then add a tablespoon of pasta water and toss before adding the cheese packet it helps get it to the texture you are used to . To much cumin a splash of lime brightens it up.
Hi Lisa. I’m running behind on watching videos. With the budget you had, I was so impressed, I grabbed my husband to come watch the miracles you can perform with food under a very tight budget. Now he wants to see us give it a try as well. We are definitely going to be having that sweet potato bowl this week 😋 I wanted that as soon as I saw the finished product. Thank you Lisa, truly, at the rising cost of food, not to mention everything thing else, thank you for giving us something that so many homes are now struggling with 🫶🏻I hope to see you back soon. See you in the next one 💕
Used to work as an assistant manager at a Dollar General for about ten minutes. Chances are the stock you were looking for was in the back room not put out on the floor!
LOL Bless your heart for trying! I always feel sorry for the workers. If they would only have enough staff, the stores would make a ton more money. I do get anxiety going into Dollar General, but to me, it is like a mini Walmart and easier to park and get into.
I appreciate you giving us the sale price. It would be neat knowing the regular price as well. I'm sure different reguons have different everyday prices.
I'm sure you're a blast to hang out with. With that reasoning it's not important what she eats, what stores she shops at, who she's cooking for. At the end of the day, I am curious. You should care less about what I comment then, it's far too irrelevant for you.
I'm making the sweet potatoe black bean bowl asap...I have all the ingredients on hand already! Thanks for the wonderful idea! I love watching your videos, you always have yummy ideas!
Cumin would be great in the rice. I'll have to find spiced black beans. Love your show, and you've inspired this old lady to try to do even more things home made like perogis.
I like how you show such a variety and help with cooking methods for those who don't cook to often . Keep up the good work Lisa . Have a pleasant day .
I learned something interesting about paprika. I guess it’s just ground up dried red bell pepper . I can’t believe I went through 43 years of life without knowing that info! It makes me want to try making my own with homegrown bell peppers sometime.
Definitely! I saw the paprika post and went down a whole paprika rabbit hole recently 🤣 Apparently there are a TON of peppers, including red bell peppers, used for and labeled paprika, ranging from very mild sweet peppers to the spicier side. I'm growing Aleppo peppers this year to make my own crushed red pepper flakes.
Hi Lisa, another thing that I'd add to making meals like this is that in some areas a regular grocery store maybe 30-45 mins away from them. However they might have a Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, or Dollar General closer to them that they can get to easier with their limited budget. I wanted add this cos I'm on SSI-Disability, and I do my major shopping twice a month, but have a DT within 10 mins (by scooter) to pick up bread & other in between grocery store items. However, others may need to shop at theirs all the time due being in a food dessert with only fast food around them. So showing them what to do with those options is a great thing. Thanks Lisa!! 😃
Exactly! My hometown that I grew up in doesn't have a grocery store, though it did get a Dollar General probably around 10 years ago. The next closest town has a very expensive small grocery store and a Dollar Tree. You have to go to the next town over to get to an Aldi and a Shop Rite and for people who don't have many transportation options, that can be out of reach.
For anyone unfamiliar with Mexican chorizo, the beef variety tastes quite different from the pork variety. I can't stand beef chorizo because it tastes quite bitter and oily, but I like pork chorizo.
GREAT inexpensive meal ideas Lisa! 👍. I TOTALLY agree about “Walmart experiences” - I usually pop an ASPRIN before going in, just to PREPARE myself🥴😬🤦🏻♀️🤣😂😆🤣😂 LOVE your channel! Sending blessings from Maine❤️
I always look forward to your video's. You come up with creative idea's that seem really easy to put together and really affordable. Thanks for what you do am I sure a lot of people appreciate it. I know I do. I have not tried any of your recipes yet but they def help me come up with ideas. Thank you so much for being so kind and real ❤❤
Really great, Lisa! I watched your video this morning and stopped at Dollar General later to get the things to make your Chili Mac. I left out the chili beans because you said they were too heavy on the cumin so with a can of Wolf's Chili ($2), diced tomatoes ($1), and a box of Mac & Cheese(85¢) I was set! I had some shredded cheddar in my fridge already so added it and served with sour cream. It was amazing!! I'll make this again!
The ramen dish really appeals to me. I stopped eating ramen regularly quite a while ago, and often think I should just have some in my pantry for low-effort days, and that whole dish, full of variety, doesn't add too much time or effort to the overall process.
Me too! I ate it with pb & veggies with sesame oil then with mozz and Alfredo but then got tired of it and kept 2 packs on hand for emergencies, it’s time to pull them out and make something good!!😊 🍜

I've actually never had a sweet potato. I know, I know, crazy!!! I've had sweet potato fries once. I didn't care for them. I don't think I've ever had chorizo either. 🤷♀️ With that being said, I would try all of these recipes. They all look delicious! You have a nack for putting dishes together. I absolutely love your videos! Love from Texas ❤
Hi Lisa, the sweet potato bowl was the best for me. I think I'm going to try that , definitely , I love sweet potatoes 😊 you did a wonderful job with all three meals.
I have just started watching your videos. I appreciate how you deliver instructions very clear easy to understand. The other thing is your recipes meal ideas I can see my family eating. Very good!
Thank you Lisa. Your Videos are so Wunderful honest. I am always happy if a new one ist showing up. Even we do Not have the Produkts you use it is still inspiring. Greetings from Germany.

A little over a week ago I had someone dent my tailgate on my Bronco at a Walmart (my husband said I’m not allowed to shop at that one anymore). I have 4 that are between 20-30 minutes in any direction so I still have options.
Lisa, hi. Just a thought... I would love to see a video of yours on ways to use a crock pot to avoid using the oven in the summer. I live on the Texas Gulf coast and our heat and humidity is brutal. I basically dont turn on the oven (or the clothes dryer, the dehydrator, the instant pot or anything else generating heat). I can put my crock pot out on the porch or in the garage and the AC can catch up if I'm lucky. I do make granola, bread, baked potatoes and any soup I can in that. You are so creative and I would love to have more ideas.
Why don’t you have a million subscribers? Your videos are so REAL. Real cooking, real flavor, real budget and great for real people. Thanks for sharing your meal ideas and prices. Keep up the good work.

Ummm, no. It’s inflation.
That's way oversimplifying the issue. Inflation is more than corporate greed
Gosh, I just love to watch you cook! I (and my family! ) only wish I would take more of an INTEREST in it! I despise cooking... 😂 😂
It's so true, so many people live paycheck to paycheck or meal to meal. Even if these are not the most nutrient rich meals, they will get a small family by if they only have $5.

Sounds good but I'm guessing that the pepper jack cheese would defeat the $5 limit.
@@anitafoss2133 The five dollar price tag was not on my mind
@anitafoss2133 But of course there's always gonna be one person that poopoos about a totally innocuous comment

Sweet potato. Carrot. Onion.
Tortilla

The Dollar General's have the stock- but so few employees- I always- always ask if it's in the back and have been able to get what I needed.
I believe it. The aisles are always super crowded with stacks and stacks of boxes at the DG near me.
Thank you honey for all the great advice and recipes I always look forward for your videos
Very nice meals really appreciate all the ideal, and they all look good,
if you do the chili again, add onions and some brown sugar to tone down the cumin
You always have such great ideas. Thanks for teaching this Granny some new recipes.
