2 small tips I would like to add:
Hold the ctrl key when looking at your map and the aetherytes will always display over sidequest markers. Helps when you have lots of sidequest exclamation points everywhere stopping you from clicking the aetheryte to teleport.
If you do a roulette and meet a nice person you'd like to make a friend or someone who sucks you'd like to blacklist, click Social > Contacts to see the names of the people you were just grouped with. You can right-click their name to take actions on them :)

9:30 No, you cannot solo and use "limited leveling roulette" as an option. If you're lvl 80, you can still get a lvl 40 dungeon through leveling. Limited leveling roulette will only apply if you have a full pre-made party of four.

    A few other tips:
    1. For those on controller using the cross hotbar, there are a couple settings under Character Config > Hotbar that make a big difference. First is changing Cross Hotbar Controls under the "Cross" tab from Hold (default) to Mixed. This allows you to either hold down the shoulder button OR toggle it with a button press to activate the cross hotbar. Save your index finger some strain during battles!
    2. Also for the cross hotbar, under the "Custom" tab, enable Expanded Controls. These allow you to quick access up to two extra cross hotbars by holding down both shoulder buttons, or double-tapping a shoulder button. Absolutely essential as button bloat increases at later levels.
    3. The Hunt Billmaster of each GC sells Aetheryte Tickets for 5 Allied Seals each that can be used instead of gil to teleport. By default, though, it brings up a confirmation prompt asking if you would like to use a ticket each time you teleport. You can click the little gear button in the top-right of the Teleport menu, and it will let you adjust that setting to automatically use the ticket instead of asking. You can even set a gil threshold and tell it to only use tickets for teleports that cost more than that amount! Super convenient.

I do both of these on controller and it honestly makes things so comfortable to play with and use multiple hot bars at the same time. I’m almost certain that people who struggle on controller don’t actually make use of all the functions. The way SE designed the controller use for an MMO is extremely clever.

Keybind > System > Confirm. You can do just about anything you need that involves an NPC or an item by spamming that. Don't have an enemy targeted or you'll try to attack. You may need to use Keybind > Targeting > Target Nearest NPC or Object sometimes but Confirm is a wonder. A few examples: (1) Running through the trash mobs at the start of Prae and having trouble targeting the elevator/teleport buttons fast enough? Confirm > Confirm > Confirm (target the teleport, open the confirm window, choose confirm). (2) Have items to turn in for a quest? Spam Confirm. It will first clear all of your conversation windows quickly, then click the NPC to open that "drop off" window, then open your items inventory, then move the items to the drop off, then confirm the choice. You may need to navigate through your item inventory and maybe there is an easier way to do this, but on KBM I use NUM4 and NUM6 to cycle back and forward through the inventory. If you are a crafter turning in a number of collectables, this works like a charm.

Extra tip for GC turn in, they appear under your Timers (CTRL-U), so you don't need to go back to the GC every time to see what you need to gather.
Another tip I like is when doing the daily Hunt Bills. Use the Recommendation window, there's a submenu for "The Hunt", which will list the targets you have in the current zone. All you have to do is teleport to each of the 6 zones for that expansion, no need to shuffle through your stacks for what monster you forgot to kill.

Another good trick for turn ins at the Grand Company : if you can do Expert Deliveries (which is turning in old gear for Grand Company seals), transfer all the gear you no longer need from your Armory Chest to your Inventory. Then, in the Expert Delivery window, select "Inventory" from the drop down menu. It'll also remember that setting so you don't have to do it every time.
And if you have a lot of items to turn in, a quick way to turn them in quickly is to simply tap the numpad's 0 key (which functions as the "Confirm" button equivalent on a controller) and you'll turn in and confirm each piece of gear very quickly. You can go through 30 pieces of gear to turn in that way in less than 10 seconds.

10:52 the reason why you can go to Waking Sands faster through Limsa Lominsa because back in 1.0, there's a different mechanic in travelling using ship/airship than it is now. Back then, there would be a scheduled travel for all of the ship and airship and the travel itself is not instant, instead you're going to wait in the ship to actually travel between places in which you can do fishing there (except airship, it's a cutscene).
And yes, one of the most popular ship travel route is from Limsa Lominsa directly Waking Sands, where back in 1.0 there was so many activity around that place.
EDIT: If you want to know more about how closely connected present FFXIV compared to how it was back in 1.0, I suggest you search a youtube playlist named "Remnants of A Realm"

Another tip: in Keybinds > Movement, set a hotkey to the "Save current camera position," Return camera to saved position," and "Return camera to default." I use this when I'm out in the open; I simply press the hotkey for putting the camera to my saved position, which is far away and at a specific angle so I can see a lot around me.

You're doing gods works. Keep it coming.
I also have long forgotten 2.0 trick for extra Hotbar space. Any Jobs from ARR has an extra hotbar space we no longer use. For example, for Paladin, remove the job stone to revert back to your Gladiator. The hotbar you see are unique to Gladiator and it can be used for anything you desire. I use it for Job change. What I do is I put job shortcut into the first row of Gladiator bar. I then have a macro with this command. "/hotbar copy Gladiator 1 current 4" what this does is when I press the button that contains the macro, it will copy the first row of gladiator hotbar into current unused hotbar, which is 4th hotbar in my case. The 2nd row contains professions in gladiator hotbar. And I have another macro with "/hotbar copy Gladiator 2 current 4". This copies 2nd row Gladiator hotbar into my 4th hotbar. With this method, you can recreate very simple windows start button in your hotbar.

You don't have to manually sort your party list when you're playing different roles. In Character Configuration -> Party List. You can set the order based on your role. So if you're a healer you can sort by tank, healer, DPS. and then if you change roles to a DPS, you can set party sort to order by DPS, tank, healer, and so forth. In addition to this, if you click Role Sort Settings, you can choose the order in which classes/jobs will auto-sort for you.

The Limited Levelling Roulette function doesn't quite work like that unfortunately, it only limits the ranged based on the lowest member of the party you're matched with, so if you get matched with a level 20 player you can still get Sastasha, since it's still in their range. It's mainly for limiting your pool of levelling roulette dungeons with a full premade.

Supply and Provisioning items for crafters are great if you throw in the gil for the materials for them instead. You can then proceed to craft them and maybe even make them at high quality which is some great exp honestly plus it trains you on how crafting works so you're not fully confused once you're max level and you just blindly use macros without knowing how they work.

A much better way for extracting materia is use the "Extract Materia" action. It gives you a list of your items sorted by spirit bond and you can just go down the list then.
For party sorting, if you go in to the Role Sorting option, you can set the specific order of jobs within the roles. For example, healer's default order is WHM, SCH, AST, SGE. I have switched AST and SCH so that I have pure healers first and shield healers second.
The Limited Levelling Roulette option only activates if you're in a light party (4 people) when you queue. It even said it in your window you had open but the way you described it indicated that it would work if queued solo.
Petsize only affects you. Not others. If you set it to small, it's only small for you. Everyone else, even if they're not on summoner, will need to run that action. It will also not apply to the currently active summon (I.e.: Bahamut won't get small if he's out already but will be the next time he is summoned).

  • @TigerLoveHeart
    @TigerLoveHeart 3 роки тому

so multiple things : people already talked about the spiritbound actions & traits thing (also works with desynthesize), for the waymarks gathering, some spots changes place time to time and aren't always at the same place so doesn't work for all farming places, for the grand company turn-ins meh... i'd suggest doing levequest turn-ins for fisher using gils on marketboard and the rest of the jobs, gathering is simple with levequests too and crafting it's best to level all the crafters at once (like by 10 levels or so) from level 20 to 50 you only need 1 set of equipments then do them by 10 levels but ALL at the same time because the way firmament works is the gathering area spots isn't usual and you need to go in circles (either clockwise or counter clockwise depending on if you're using miner or bota) anyways it takes practice to understand it all i guess
for party finder well i also keep the "go in started duty" but there are some duties you're best off not going into like if it says 0mins on MSQ roulette... it's probably castrum... and castrum is pretty bad mainly if you're a tank and not know every little details of it... prae gives much more XP even if it's longer but more worth the time... as for using roulettes to get weekly tomes... doing expert roulette 5 days a week gets you to 450/450 tomes because they give 90 per expert (50 for the roulette and 40 for the dungeon) so no need to do any other roulettes at level 90 for tomes
as for waking sands... as someone who hates limsa because it's filled with the most cingry of people and there's tons of people there always... and those pretend-girls dancing naked all the time i just only go there to use marketboard and if i need to change worlds to check other marketboards so i'd rather still teleport to horizon from anywhere in the game rather than loading to limsa using the aether loading again going to boat loading again... a lot of loading involved and a lot more actions involved ... sure you're next to it but is it REALLY worth it? you shouldn't play FF14 if you're soooooo desperate about gaining 2 seconds time for everything you're doing because everything will take weeks or months to do anyways so not really useful to do it that way honestly

There's an easier way to deal with spirit bond. If you grab the Extract Materia action from General actions (it might be Materia Extraction, I don't have it in front of me) it will bring up a menu with the 100% spirit bond items at the top and highlighted, and you just have to click on them and confirm to extract materia.

Making it really easy way to fast farm GC seals, which is really helpful especially for new players, as you can even do it on 40-50lvl character soloing 15-20lvl dungeons. But of course it's easier later on in the game and grants more seals for items.
