Dragon Sight does not actually break upon leaving! The skill stays active on both you and the DRG, but you lose the 5% until you get within range of the DRG again!
Yeah, and the Dragoon keeps his damage buff! I think it is since Shadowbringer they can give this buff to themself without needing another person. Snd even if the other person runs too far away then only the other one loose his damage buff but the Dragoon keeps it.
However a few things do cause it to break, like the tethered player dying causes the DRG to lose the buff, and having 2 tethers on the same target will cause the second one cast to expire early as the first expiring will take both down
We suffer because there aren't many NIN players now so tanks forget... I had a tank yesterday tho that pulled mobs into my Dotons. I definitely didn't shed a tear... I swear haha
I lost count of how many times I have to explain to tank not to move out of that "swirling earth thing" 😂 and I'm not the ninja and I don't even play ninja! And every time I'll get my DPS ninja party member thanking me for explaining that to tank 😂😂😂
One Important healing skill is Excogitation. It places a buff on party member and triggers a healing when it runs out or the party member falls below 50%. SCH can also guaranteed crit this ability which is pretty strong. If you are a healer, and your co-healer put an Excog on the tank, you can safely stop healing that tank until the Excog pops. Excog can be really powerful, especially as a crit, and you would just be wasting healing resources on a tank that would get healed anyway.
This is a great video! As a little heads up; AST actually has 2 "bubbles", the earthly star bubble mentioned in the video, which we pop for heals to the party and damage to enemies, and then a second shield type bubble! When you see an Astrologian floating with arms outstretched try and stay in the bubble they produce, it reduces damage by 10% and grants Regen to everybody in it!
@@jiffah Yup! hence why i figured it should probably be mentioned, of all the bubbles that you need to play around the party REALLY needs to stand in AST's as if they move. turn around, or do ANYTHING it immediately drops - The regen granted will stick around after the bubble drops but that damage reduction is only for when the bubble is up
Most ast will just pop it for the regen, unless theres a boss transition you won't see it being held. Which if you're not stacked on a boss transition, you are bad.
Thank you on behalf of Jobs with Party Buffs, all BLM players, Grave Mains, Healers, Especially Ninjas with their forever ignored Doton. This is the video this community needs... A lot. I will now go and internally scream when Tanks in PF groups run around the boss and kill positionals for the melee players
Good vid. Many people do not know them and run away from buffs or pull way from dmg circles, which is ... understable :D but when you see other players realising how to play around them, there is much more satisfaction from game :)
Back when DRK had to target cast salted earth in SHB, i once did it onto a bunch of sprouts in the middle of Behemoth's meteor phase. They immediately scattered in every direction to their deaths XD
Hit a lot of the good ones here. A couple I think are worth noting though is PLD’s intervention, damage mitigation with a HoT attached and AST’s Collective unconscious (although you won’t see it held for long) it gives a HoT and while in it you also receive a 10% damage min while the bubble is up or for 1 server tick after leaving the bubble. Those and the other healer lvl 86 buffs I think are the only ones not mentioned here.
This is a great video. The only change I would’ve made is at the end, when listing off the 2 min buffs to include their icons of them as well. Or icons of the skills in general. But otherwise this will be a huge help to a lot of people
I believe DRK's living dead just requires an amount of HP restored equaling their Max HP, not requiring HP actually hitting 100%. This uh, may cause conflict if it's not represented correctly.
Compared to the other tanks invulnerable abilities it's pretty crappy and DRK players shouldn't really expect healers to dump so much healing to save them, sure that's what they are meant to do but it's such a big loss in dps and waste of resources, but yes your right it's only your total HP threshold that needs to be healed.
You're correct. The drk doesn't need to be fully healed to lose the walking dead. They just need to receive healing equal to their max hp in those 10 seconds
For buffs to look out for, you should also remember Scholar's Protraction (buffs HP by 10% and heals for the same amount, then healing potency against the buffed target is increased by 10%) and Fey Illumination (fairy buff that gives 10% increased healing and 5% magic damage reduction to all party members within range of the fairy). Neither are as immediately strong as Sage's Krasis, but if you're looking out for that you should look out for these one's, too.
man your one of the few content creator that are this type of person: you just want to listen to them. hope you will be succes and i am looking forward for more videos :) verry usefull videos btw
As of this writing, the norm for most people using standardized openers for trials/raids is the burst windows begin right after the 3rd GCD after the GO, so if you're new and don't know anyone, that'll be when people usually dump the partywide buffs or pop their big self-buffs. This will save some of you the trouble of checking. As for dungeons runs and whatever, many will pop once first pull stabilizes because it'll usually take about 2 minutes to clear the first 2 packs (which means theyll be up again for the boss). Usually it'll be about near-ish 2 minutes for every section of a dungeon run (2 major pulls of area 1, 1st boss, 2 major pulls of area 2, 2nd boss etc.) assuming decent DPS and the tanks pull properly so you'll have it close to up if not up already. Also help a tank out and consider popping your own mitigates (if you have them) for the tank at the 2nd pull of an area if they're not a warrior who'll just eat everything anyway. Theyll appreciate.
Thanks for this. I only have one battle class so many of these things (but not all) were mysteries to me. I have run away from the aoe that looks like sand traps, I haven't tried to stay close when a dragoon uses their "crotch tether" as a dragoon in my FC calls it, and for most the rest I simply had no idea what to think about them. "Should I stand in it, get away from it? Hell, it's stuff on the ground, safest to just move away." The game basically teaches you to fear everything, so I do. ;)
A fair number of veils can be popped by the PLD themself now without clemency. Of course you still have to be aware in case they need to veil outside of their req window. What baffles me is how many times I see a PLD use veil in the middle of a trash pull and then use clemency to pop it when I don't pop it. They don't get a shield from their own veil and no one else is taking damage, yet they waste time on it. And this happens in like _most_ runs with a PLD.
Thank you for the shoutout for BLMs. We kinda have a reputation for just running off and doing our own thing, and I've generally gotten used to moving for/with the party (second Triplecast was such a boon), but finding a tank/group that actually throws me a bone by noticing leylines/moving stack markers is genuinely such a big help. It's something I try to be mindful of when I swap to my tank alt every now and then, though I usually don't see all that many Black Mages in my pugs...
It's very pleasing to see folks promote this ... It's very clear, however, that a lot of recent players have grown used to treating team play like competitive DPS in their previous game of choose (naming no names) ... They are unlikely to make any effort to heed this but we can only hope...
Thank you for the video!!. I found out that it helped me to know about the jobs, and eventually I have all of them unlocked except for Warrior and DK yet. I'm more aware of my team spells and good buffs and to know how to use them. But I specialize on healer 😁 knowing the dungeon and mechanics helps a lot!! UA-cam got videos on guides for these dgns and trials! Miss Tech's channel on guides is my favorite.
Thank you for this video!! I didn’t get the chance to test all the jobs so sometimes I’m confused with the area effects like is it good or is it bad :(
SCH here! Little note for the buffs like Chain Stratagem, if you have two of the same classes like two SCH, the buffs have a habit of not stacking. Like two chain strat won't go on the same target, instead it will overwrite the other which some up time for your buff being lost. so can either wait for the buff to fall off and cast yours, or alternate them, what ever works best for your party and encounter. it's a shame too cause 20% crit from two chain strats would be awesome if a bti broken. I suppose YoshiP just wanted to avoid heads exploding due to shear awesomeness in stacking buffs.
Really helpful! Only started a few weeks ago and still not sure what every class does, let alone what their buffs look like. FF14 has been great but it sure can be a visual nightmare for newbies sometimes (at the same time, I don't wanna switch off effects yet because I wanna see what everything looks like).
One thing that is implied but not directly stated in this video is: ranged players need to NOT stand at max range from the target all the time. Seems counterintuitive I know. Standing at the edges of the battle makes sense instinctively because that's the point where your skills can hit the target (but hopefully the target can't hit you back). However this works against team play in a couple ways. One way was mentioned in the video: team buffs can't reach you when you're over in the corner, and the second way is that the healers can't pop their bubbles/AoE heals on you AND the rest of the party. Don't make your healers sad. Stand closer to middle of the room during fights.
I think something super important to mention is: If you end up in a duty finder situation with a clone of your class: most of the buffs etc *will not* stack. If you end up with dual sages for instance most of your named party buffs will not stack on top of each other, it will just waste one of them. Same with the shields they don't just stack on top of each other (so if you both use your aoe shield buff like succor from sch or enhanced sage aoe heal you won't get stacking shields, just the less effective base heals) except in scenarios where it's an entirely different ability (generally those different abilities will be cross healer, so whm's divine benison and sch's Adlo will stack just fine). Same with say... you get 2 reapers in your level roulette. Well, you can't both use arcane circle at the same time, it will just overwrite the other one (but sadly you still have to put your own death mark up for your own dmg up buff vs the enemies). So you have to feel out who does their buff first. Same thing with Debuffs, you can't put multiple chain stratagems up to get 100% crit from scholars, you have to use them at different times. Same thing with NIN trick attack. You'll have to use them back to back, or move them to different buff timer windows.
TBN is a royal pain for SGE healers. It's second nature for DRK to use it, as mitigation and dps increase. But it's primary nature for SGE to give each tank an ED barrier, for mitigation, healing and dps increase.
There’s one point that I’m hoping people can take note too. But wasn’t too sure how many people know this. I think there’s some coding problems with sage and scholar’s shield. After I use protraction (10% increased healing) + recitation (guarantee crit) + adlo deployment , sage’s normal eukrasion prognosis can overwrite scholars shield. I had a lot of sages overwriting my shield before which is really sad because I have to heal more after the raid wide damage and it’s a waste of resources. Couldn’t believed my eyes so I tried it out of battle with my lvl 90 sch and my partners lvl 70 sage and it does overwrite. So I think as a respect to all scholars out there. Sage players could try to see what their sch are doing when there’s a very big aoe coming up.
A nice gesture from a Sage in the case of a Scholar popping an Crit-lo spread with Protraction is stack a Panhaima on top. If the damage still bites through the shield. The remaining stacks of Panhaima can heal the party. So neither have to waste resources at that part. Except a cooldown or 3.
You have forgotten about a decent WAR party shield-type mitigation: Shake it off. I was also missing the Ninja's Trick attack at the party buff section...
The first time i saw doton i absolutely went, "oh goodness, the enemy has placed some evil swirling sand on the ground. let me just go ahead and make sure nobody has to stand in that."
My Summoner just got slipstream :D I have noticed from the 2 dungeons I've done since that it's IMPOSSIBLE to hit anything with it because tanks moves enemies out of it 100% of the time
Nope. Identical buffs don't stack and some buffs that are too similar also don't stack. So shields from healers don't double shield you, you'll just overwrite each other's stuff. Team play really matters, with clear communication and being flexible about who is responsible for what making a run smooth or chaotic.
Ways I've been able to help as a black mage is giving some of my surplus mp to healers when they get raised. Can't remember what the ability is called, just that it's a role action.
@@coconosuga5351 It's called Mana Shift. You used to be able to give a small portion of your MP to other party members, but that role action is long gone. Since mid Stormblood I think?
After 500 hours of gametime, I finally had a dragoon use Dragon Sight on me. I immediately ran....but when it happened a second time, I hovered the buff to read it. Read your tooltips, AND buffs/debuffs folks. :)
When it comes to timing your own buffs/high damage abilities, if you have a Ninja make sure to also look out for "Vulnerability Up", especially on bosses. This is a debuff applied by their Ability "Trick Attack" which they can use every 60 seconds and is essentially their biggest contribution to the party dps, so make good use of it!
If they're anything approaching passable for their job, they'll generally do it at 3rd GCD and just use it on CD afterward, so it's not especially hard to look for.
With the changes to dark knights invuln there is now really no need to throw too much extra heals on them, while walking dead is active each gcd they use gives a massive heal so they can pretty much fully heal themselves by just attacking, it is good to dedicate a healer to throw a single heal or 2 on them closer to the end of it just so they are toppe off when the invuln drops off
Ok this is a first time I ever learned that you can use rekindled on another person!!? I knew it gave you health but I didn't know it also gave your part members some too!!
Nah. Feint *reduces* physical damage dealt from that target, it doesn't make you deal more damage to them. It's meant to be put on a boss before a raidwide or tank buster. Exact description is: Lowers target's physical damage dealt by 10% and magic damage dealt by 5%. Addle does the opposite by lowering magic by 10, and phys by 5 for ranged casters.
you forgot warriors shake it off is a gp wide protection/heal us it just after gp dammaged to get benifit , pala has something simula too but both of them are a 15y area so you have to be near the boss ?mob where the tank is to benifit
As a black mage, nothing hurts more than getting to those last few milliseconds of a cast time, only for the tank to pull the trash mobs away and ruin the rotation as you have to run ahead of the tank so you can get some casts off before they continue to wall-to-wall.
Im a tank main so in my early days I never got dragon sight, so the first time I did I actually kept running away until it broke XD Took it reattaching whenever I got close to the DRG to make me realize it was a buff lol
Every tank I play with seems to be allergic to flame thrower and ALWAYS move the enemies out of it once I start using it lmao. Suffice to say this is one of the many reasons I don't play dps anymore.
It's extremely important in EX/Savage content because your group is racing to kill before the Enrage timer, but it's good to practice and utilize the buff windows even at mid-game just due to the fact that it helps clear content more quickly. Learning the high-end playstyles in the very forgiving beginning & middle of the game is just a net positive for the whole community. Anywhere but EX/Savage content, it's just nice (optimal gameplay) to do but not mandatory.
120second burst opener/re-opener is the current basis for optimizing DPS rotations and windows, yes. Standard openers pop all their buffs/major debuffs at about 3rd GCD from pull (so between 4 and 6s mark generally depending on party). Standardization of this allows people who have never played with each other before to still mostly catch each other with each other's burst windows in pubs/PF. Incidentally, this also lets you notice people who bother learning standard openers. It's basically because if you notice all the big damage ups and burst stuff, they all have 120s CDs.
I’ve seen a tank just standing outside of asylum with a mare toe’s away. Did i say he’s a lalafell? I also have seen a tank just dragging all the mobs away from doton like he’s trying to save them from the quicksand. :’)
I've given up on tanks actually keeping mobs in my Doton. Not to mention right when you think they're done moving the pack and throw it down they're like "nope, just catching my breath for 10 seconds".
With DRK and his Immunity: Way too often ive heals that starts to panicking to why im dropping so heavy. Maybe ive used my Immunity and let myself drop on purpose bc ive nothing else i could use or i want to buy some time. Often i also spare my healing Pot and some sort of healing Ability for after it triggers. In those moments using it Just feels Bad. It feels like ive wasted my CD and the Healers MP.
black mages had Apocatastasis for shiedling a party member against magic damage, and Mana Shift that gives a party member mp detracting them from yours, i rcieved sooooo many comm with mana shift you have no idea...
Earthly star isn't actually Astros bubble. Earthly star is the Astro equivilant of Assize and Energy Drain. Collective Unconscious is their actual bubble.
I miss Shadow Flare... Damage AND a slight Slow effect. I think the devs missed an opportunity to bring it back. It seems like it would fit Reaper's kit pretty well.

Have you done something to explain the red triangle 'stack'-ish markers? That's the one people need to know the most. T_T
Except a cooldown or 3.
monks also have mantra, it's a 10% healing buff to you and nearby allys, very usefull in multistacks
As a black mage main, whenever someone brings the stack marker to my ley lines it nearly brings me to tears. THANK YOU.
You have forgotten about a decent WAR party shield-type mitigation: Shake it off. I was also missing the Ninja's Trick attack at the party buff section...
Can you plz tell me what gear piece’s you are wearing at 4:23? 😯 that jacket is sick!
It's the Rebel Coat
thank you for these helpful videos
The first time i saw doton i absolutely went, "oh goodness, the enemy has placed some evil swirling sand on the ground. let me just go ahead and make sure nobody has to stand in that."
Okay I kept moving away from that weird swirly golden metallic gas circle. Now I know it won't suffocate and kill me.
My Summoner just got slipstream :D
I have noticed from the 2 dungeons I've done since that it's IMPOSSIBLE to hit anything with it because tanks moves enemies out of it 100% of the time
Pretty sure it also places where you begin casting which doesn't help at all
Yeah as a summoner main myself I can say that does happen. I try to use it at times when they aren't really moving to get as much in though.
Does party buff from same class stack? Say you have 2 bards in the party, can you get 2x radiant finale and battle voice buff?
Nope. Identical buffs don't stack and some buffs that are too similar also don't stack. So shields from healers don't double shield you, you'll just overwrite each other's stuff.
Team play really matters, with clear communication and being flexible about who is responsible for what making a run smooth or chaotic.
@@cuterpooter thanks so much. I suspected as much. Hence most party finder only 1 class type per party. Makes sense!
@@ericc.7418 Also it simplifies loot and maximizes the party buff from having more than 1 class type in the party.
@@DuraLexSedLex makes sense. Thanks for sharing knowledge!!!
Ayy the black mage kindness is much appreciated
Ninja has trick attack. Trick attack is a debuff that increases the damage an enemy recieves by 5% for all party members
Pretty sure its all sources, so its helpful in alliances to try and use it while not overwrite another trick attack. Like feint and addle
Are most of these abilities still viewable if I put other PC effects on “minimal“?
What chest Glam is your DRK wearing? And can you Dye it?
Finally, someone other than me saying "please stop pulling mobs out of my flamethrower"
Ways I've been able to help as a black mage is giving some of my surplus mp to healers when they get raised. Can't remember what the ability is called, just that it's a role action.
... I need to read Black Mage notes again, cos I haven't heard of that, oh no
@@coconosuga5351 It's called Mana Shift. You used to be able to give a small portion of your MP to other party members, but that role action is long gone. Since mid Stormblood I think?
@@xeayath8073 Oh, ok. So it's gone now - always worried I'm missing something with BLM. >.
Before the video: Thinking i am finally getting OK at the game
After the video: writes "plz forgive i suck" - chat macro
As a black mage, I feel loved, finally.
This should be required viewing for all players at level 20.
Cycle through the summoner rotation... ? What rotation? 🤣🤌
your an MVP! thanks for this guide.
With the changes to dark knights invuln there is now really no need to throw too much extra heals on them, while walking dead is active each gcd they use gives a massive heal so they can pretty much fully heal themselves by just attacking, it is good to dedicate a healer to throw a single heal or 2 on them closer to the end of it just so they are toppe off when the invuln drops off
It’s worth noting that if you have “Limited Battle Effects” on, you may not even see these effects as a tank
Did I miss the Dancer buffs & AE heals?
Is the video copyrighted? or is there not meant to be any audio, i cant hear any audio
Ok this is a first time I ever learned that you can use rekindled on another person!!? I knew it gave you health but I didn't know it also gave your part members some too!!
It's useful but really hard to actually use because you can't really decide when to use phoenix and you have to use it within that window
The sad part is this video has to be made .. it’s amazing how many times tanks run out HoT puddles
Additional debuff but not really necessary is "Feint" for melee DPS like me. It increases physical damage output by 10% for 10s.
Do all of these abilities appear on screen when you have battle effect off? I know roton and salted earth is visible, but how about flame thrower?
Flame thrower is not visible on limited, but its also not as important as Doton to play around
the number of times the tank drag the mobs outside of my doton... i should really send them this video
Every tank I play with seems to be allergic to flame thrower and ALWAYS move the enemies out of it once I start using it lmao. Suffice to say this is one of the many reasons I don't play dps anymore.
Flamethrower is often a DPS loss anyway unless you get the whole thing out, so tbh you should be using something else.
You don’t have to stand in the small earthly star affect. It has a massive radius AOE heal when it explodes.
And yet I still have tanks running away from it :')
@@MoonlightCharizard I just rescue those tanks back into my earthly stars
This is actually the first I've heard of the 120 second thing. Is it more of a thing for extreme/savage content?
Is your character name a stormlight archive reference?
Thanks you ! :)
Overall... Don't make your party sad!
With DRK and his Immunity:
Way too often ive heals that starts to panicking to why im dropping so heavy.
I miss RDM having manashift. though new RDM mana burn rate kind of kills it's use for us.
Do we need to turn on other players visual effects to see a lot of these?
A lot of the crucial ones are always visible, but a few won't work. MCH flame thrower only works with effects on for example
What happened to NIN trick attack?
I forgot to add it because I was looking at a list of party buffs when making the video, which Trick Attack isn't, because it's a Target Debuff
OK, I got the memo
Don't make your team mates extremely sad
Good summary
Thanks for this, every time I drop doton the new tanks freak out.
One time I used Dragon sight on this Reaper and he started to run away from the party :)
Hahahha
I turned off the effect of others and only self effects remained. Probably this is the reason we might have ignored party damage abilities.
Set it to minimum instead of off. This way doton and such are still visible.
Ah good old doton, tanks in ew needed this vid!
oh my god thank you. now i don't have to panic and ask my group "wtf is this"
Earthly star isn't actually Astros bubble. Earthly star is the Astro equivilant of Assize and Energy Drain. Collective Unconscious is their actual bubble.
Salted Earth is no longer targeted, it's just placed at the DRK's location
I knew all of this and yet I enjoyed relearning it anyway. Also as a BLM, thank you XD.
When new smn came out i was freaked out by the new titan summon as a tank lmao.
I miss Shadow Flare... Damage AND a slight Slow effect. I think the devs missed an opportunity to bring it back. It seems like it would fit Reaper's kit pretty well.
Can someone tell the what gear pieces he’s wearing in the thumbnail?
I mean, I know you said you wouldn't include all the raid buffs, but how do you just leave out Trick Attack entirely 🤔
That's more of a technicality really, because it's a target debuff and not a party buff. But I guess it would be fair to list it in the 120s abilities
@@Jolsn It's a 60s and most ninjas will drop it alongside the burst window anyway.
I use Battle Litany often, just annoying whenever people don't stand inside the yalm field
