As an added note, when your typing in the action name, instead of using quotes you can hit the "TAB" key to bring up the auto translate. This will help you check the spelling, you only need to enter a partial word before hitting "TAB" for it to bring up a small list of words and actions related to those letters, and when you select the action that you want it will put it in coloured brackets for you and you will not need quote marks.
Using the auto translate feature does help as well when you're switching game language as well. I play in both French and English, so I can keep using my macros seemlessly.
@@AzuriteTV To add to this, the reason you don't need quotes for some and you do for others is because quotation marks are only needed for abilities that have more than 1 word in their name.
oh i dont think the raise macros are for roleplay. they're for letting people know that you're taking care of that raise so no one wastes a swift cast or double raises
That just makes no difference though. With Endwalker you can see the healer's res target in the party list. Same goes for a res buff on a party member. In the heat of the moment you don't look at chat before using your swiftcast res anyway.
@@LuminNox might not make sense but still. it's more likely that than for 'roleplay' reasons. in the heat of the moment, they might not even look at the party list and it could be easier to get attention with macros bc of the noise that goes off when used
@@LuminNox id also note that the healer's target being in the party list was new to this expansion and a large part of the playerbase isn't used to that being there or it just gets neglected in the heat of battle. Usually a sound effect in chat is a great way to alert the rest of the party without requiring the healers to play chicken with whoever pops swiftcast first. Also as a rez mage main I use a raise macro religiously so both healers can recognize that I'm doing their job for them and to save their mp on more useful spells. And even further, raise "usually" isn't used often in any event so the second delay for a macro most likely won't be the deciding factor when you're already taking the time out of your rotation to revive someone anyway
Most healer mains I know (including me) use Raise macros for non-RP reasons. Raising tends to be mildly panic'd (a reactionary thing since we dont normally preplan raises); so them macro makes sure we don't miss the swiftcast and tend up hardcasting Raise or needing to cancel it to try again. The macro also means we only have one button to press in reaction to deaths instead of two. So in general I agree with not macroing multiple abilities together; I have seen the opposite endorsed for Raise macros specifically.
I did this at one point but got rid of it, unfortunately on controller it's quicker to light target them but just scrolling down the party list and then casting without clicking to select them. This is good because it casts that 1 ability n them and goes back to being locked onto the target you do have selected, but this doesn't work with the rez macro because it says you're rezzing the boss or whoever you were targetting before light targeting the dead person
@@samwilkinson9309ik light targeting is faster but as someone who has exclusively played this game with controller for hundreds of hours now, it's much more accurate to full target and would eliminate this problem you're having. my advice is to get used to full targeting instead of light targeting.
I have a tendency to full target because light targeting doesn't work for me on PS4. So the Raise macro keeps me from forgetting my swiftcast in my panic XD
The Raise macro "roleplay" i usually have where Swiftcast ISN'T on the macro, but instead only the Revive action itself in the first line with a /p & command in the 2nd line, purely to let the other healer know "I gots this man/woman" and HOPEFULLY they don't use their own Swift. Short, sweet, and to the point. Great overall list.
Honestly that doesn't help me at all and I don't know anyone who find them helpful. The chat Box is a far off corner of the screen where I don't want to look mid combat. The party list is way closer which displays this information and way more. As a healer you already have an eye on it constantly.
i just normaly wait 5 sec and wait what other ppl do because the most healer just panic when someone is dead. I play on PS and still i dont like rez macros because it can make stuff worse when it failed to rez someone. I am a WHM/SGE main so on WHM the macro is just a hell since i need TA befor if not i gonna run out of MP (base Piety full dps build lol) so waiting is the best option for me or to weave it in a dot window instead of losing any uptime
@@FarZeroDark I usually use it as a means with the to help notify that a raise is happening. The only time the icon on the party list has helped me was when the other healer was in the middle of hard-casting a revive.
One I think is great for tank is this will use your action on your focus target. Say your tanking and you want to focus target a mob and watch for a skill to stun or interrupt. You can use /ac "interject" without ever deselecting your main target.
Actually a good one! Although I still think I would rather just target the mob manually for more reliable control, but I still think this is a good alternative!
depends on the Situation for Shirk you can also use (Target of the target) to shirk the target of the boss. But i would stick with the number because my Party List never change. But first i would have to play with shirk more since i do easy swap with just turning the stance off xD
@@Ishi112 Hmmm no because evrey tank use provoke befor shirk so the new rank is TT then :P Also a little side note i never use shirk i always turn off/on stance which is easiert and less weaving (i play this game since ARR so im used to stance dance xD)
@@rivenoak this kind of stuff, to me, is redundant. as a healer, seeing two people die, I'd just wait a couple seconds for the other healer to raise, then raise the other one. as a rdm seeing 3+ dead, I'd consider priority (healer > tank > dps) and raise the one in the middle if both healers are alive. critical and quick thinking makes this kind of stuff pretty much automatic, tbh.
@@brunolidade except when the other healer is taking their sweet time to raise them or not raise them at all. Then someone is just wasting away on the ground. It's much more convenient to inform each other what you are doing
veteran healer here and i still use ress macros. and i love it when another healer does too. i usually just play normal content thou. and for roleplay reason and a little bit of fun i use some funny texts like : " wake up (player name), this isnt your final fantasy!" or something like : " the (myplayername) corporation would like to inform (playername) that the afterlife is extremely boring and not worth visiting". i like that stuff. but i have to be clear that i just use those makros for the text. is still push swift cast and ress. :) well have a nice day!
Not a combat macro, but I use a QoL macro scheme that creates a expandable/collapsible menu on the hud that allows me to change jobs easily, without much clutter. It involves using the base class hotbars to store the buttons and using a macro to swap them into a shared hotbar.
I use the hud macros too and you can actually take it further with summoner and scholar. Make macros that switch to the gearset, wait .3 (to account for your mana maybe being empty from the other class), then summon carbuncle/eos.
the sprint macro is a lifesaver for me example: if you want to get out of a mechanic and you just double weaved, the sprint macro guarantee that it activates and the normal one you have to spam it and it will be delayed
The macro icons next to party members is REALLY good imo on astro. When you want to give card buffs to people. Its nice to just click the play card next to whichever person you want to give it to, that being ranged or melee dps. Makes it really easy to be on top of it even when mechanics are happening. At first I was using mouse over macros but in chaotic situations sometimes I would mouse over the wrong person. This method also saves keybind bloat so you don't even need to keybind play.
I would imagine it's just as easy to mouseover the right person in the party list as it is to hit the button next to them on the party list, plus you save a hotbar for other uses. Anyway, if it works for you, good.
Mouse-over macros are really good for movement skills, like Black Mage's Aetherial Manipulation or Sage's Icarus. So are focus target macros for when there are a lot of group mechanics.
Can also sometimes be useful to have a second line that uses the movement skill on your focus target, so in fights you're not familiar with you can just designate someone that knows what they're doing to be your safety dorito that you can rush to at any time with a single button press.
Fun fact: /merror and /micon stands for "Macro Error" and "Macro Icon". Also, you need to put quotes on anything with a space in the name. Single-word actions do not need quotes :)
You need macros that spam anime attacks names for your samurai abilities, it will help increase your dps if shout the name of the attack before you do it
actually works on other abilities too, not just ground targeted ones. A popular WAR macro is /ac "Holmgang" because if you're tethered target dies during Holmgang, you lose the effect but this prevents that because you cast it on yourself instead. A few other "honorable mentions" I think worth looking at would be to use a sprint/mount macro in slot 98 and 99 and mapping those to your R3/L3 buttons on a controller. This let's you click your joystick to use those macros. I keep the mount one on R3 (the stick used for camera) since I definitely won't move for the cast time and put sprint on L3 (the stick used for movement) since I'm already running when I need to sprint somewhere. Mostly for crafters, but you can macro a proc ability without a wait time and it works like a sloppy "if" statement/conditional. For example, if you wanted a macro to use precise touch which is only allowed when quality is good/excellent, but otherwise use basic touch (or something else), you could do two likes like /ac "precise touch" /ac "basic touch" .... This will attempt to do precise touch and if it works, you'll be animation locked an not do basic touch, but the wait command will still happen, so you'll still wait 3 seconds before doing the 3rd line. If you can't do precise touch, it'll fail and there's no animation lock so you'll go into basic touch. Lastly, for controller people who don't know, up/down on the D-pad without hitting X to confirm with select your party member without deselecting the enemy. I don't know if there's a name for this, but I call it a soft select. Then after casting on someone, it will snap back to the original target (for example, an enemy). You could use this while healing to glare at an enemy until your tank needs healing, hit down twice to soft select him, ogcd heal, and you're already looking at the enemy again. This is about as close to a effect we have on controller, but not nearly as good.
> actually works on other abilities too, not just ground targeted ones. A popular WAR macro is /ac "Holmgang" because if you're tethered target dies during Holmgang, you lose the effect but this prevents that because you cast it on yourself instead. This is incorrect. If your target dies, you still have the effect active. All that is lost is the immobility that was given to the target (since it's now dead).
HUGE note for controller players: There's a setting in your controller options to set left stick click and right stick click to "Macro 98" and "Macro 99". I, and I think many people, use this to just put sprint on a stick press instead of taking up a cross hotbar slot. You should still put it on, say, a normal bar somewhere though, so you can see the cooldown.
I use a similar macro for this, but I have it set to either summon a mount (in locations where I can mount) or sprint (in locations that I CAN'T mount).
As a controller user, I don't see the issue of just putting it on hotbar. In the settings for hotbars under custom tab I have the expanded hold controls set to display Cross Hotbar 8 - Left when holding L2 then R2. Which on top of two other bars always visible, it allows me access to a third bar in a split second. I barely have anything on that bar so I put Sprint there.
IMO, there is *one* situation in which it's okay to macro a GCD. Using a controller, and DPSing as a healer with and /Focustarget . in this manner, you're able to spam stone/aero/malefic/gravity/whatever *while still having the tank highlighted as your primary target*, and can switch back to casting heals on them with a single button press, without needing to mash the D-Pad re-targetting your tank or your enemy. I don't reccommend you do this in endgame content, for obvious reasons, but it's great for casual/levelling content or your daily roulettes.
A better option is to put on your oGCD heals that you would be using (Tetragrammaton, Haima, Divine Benison, etc) so you're always targetting the enemy.
I needed this badly for healing. I just picked up Sage and the idea of click-targeting party members to cast terrifies me. This will fix things up for me very nicely.
There's actually a setting in character settings where you can double your ground trageting skill to put it down. I found this out recently and it was a complete game changer. With this you don't need to macro skills like asylum, sacred soil, and star at all cause you can just double tap the skill and it'll put it down where your cursor is and there's no delay whatsoever!
I also used this setting, especially on SCH and WHM, for AST star the aoe is way too large to warrant another button press..... like, if it is not hitting you, it is literally your fault.
I think the hotbar macro one for specific party members is REALLY useful as a whole. I play SCH and it will make it MUCH easier to heal specific people I need too
My favorite use of macros and hotbars has been to make a kind of automated sidebar menu where I have different categories in one sidebar and the second sidebar showing the last clicked category. For example, left of my chatbox, I have two vertical hotbars side by side. The left one has the tank, healer, 3 DPS, crafter, gatherer, minion and mount icons set in it, spaced for readability. If I click the tank icon, the bar on its right updates and displays all my tank gearsets; if I click my healer button, then it shows all my healer gearsets, etc. Then I can click those icons to switch to that job and gearset. The reason I have 3 DPS icons is for melee, ranged and magic DPS since they all couldn't fit on a single hotbar. As for mounts and minions, I just have my favorite minions and mounts in those along with the last icon being the actual Mount and Minion menu shortcut. The way I make it work is that I pretty much 'sacrifice' one hotbar from every crafting job and turn it invisible. However, in those hotbars, I have the content of each category button set in them and when I click a category button, the macro simply copies and pastes the content of one of these hotbars into the right vertical hotbar, overwritting its content and showing what I've set for that category. It's less cluncky overall and much more clean in my opinion that having 2 hotbars cluttered with gearset icons and some random mounts and minions left and right. And besides, I pretty much have access to more content on 2 hotbars than I would with 3 or 4.
3:20 you also can turn this off in the Character Configuration under Chatlog, Server Error Messages, no need to waste a line in the macro^^ 9:55 I like to use Macros on Sage so I can shield the Tank and Toxicon the enemy back to back 11:06 Auto-Translate works for macros aswell so you don't need Quotation Marks and you can use your Macros on All Clients for example: on a german client /ac "shirk" does nothing but shirk written in auto-translate will work! 13:05 I miss the Old Sprint: 20sec duration on 30sec cool down.. and 1k TP cost but now we don't have TP anymore
Yeah a and combo macro for Healer DPS skills is very nice. I for one use a , and combo as a healer this way i can attack the target i have targeted or attack the tanks target or attack the Focus target if i end up un targeting the monster or tank
is one of my most used macro parameters. I setup single action macros for my WHM so I don't have to switch targets while healing the main tank. I can just easily attack what ever the main tank is fighting while still healing the main tank. FFXIV really needs to make DPS spells automatically attack the target's target when you're targeting a party member.
@12:09 I use this type of macro ONLY for my AST cards. I don't really see a use for it outside of that, as a WHM main it's never been a huge concern as most of my macros (Asylum, Divine Benison, Aquaviel and the like are set to , or )
I believe the reason gtoff is a macro option is because there's an actual option in the settings to just have ground targeting always go to where your mouse is, with no need to click. Similarly, there's a macro option to turn off facing your target when using an ability. The only time I'm aware of that this comes in handy is that heals don't require you to face your target for the cast to go off, making it easier to heal people when glare (turn away) effects are going off. Damaging spells however will give you an error if you're turned slightly off from facing the target so it's not worth it in my opinion, but still an interesting thing to note and possibly usable for some ogcd heals.
Hi, i am a returner from 2017 2018 and i found your videos really helping me a lot! This and HUD arrangement videos are really informative and clear! Really like it and subbed
There is one macro that I started to use to remind me when a skill with 2 min cool down is available: /macroicon "Arcane circle" /merror off /ac "Arcane Circle" /echo Arcane Circle 60 sec /echo /echo /echo
Not a bad idea! The only problem is if you use another macro in between, it will cancel this macro (I think? Unless they changed it) so it could be good if you don't have any other macros on your reaper. Another good alterative to this is adding an extra hotbar to your HUD, just make it 1 button, the arcane circle in this case, and make it BIG, and above your hotbar so its hard to miss, that way whenever your look at your hotbar or the encounter in general, you'll always see that cooldown ticking :)
If you want to see this taken to an extreme, look up the one button summoner. It's a series of macros that swap skills on your hot bar so you only have to spam 1 button to perform the summoner skill rotation. It's not optimal, but it does perform at a rather adequate level for DPS output.
The Aurora with multiple target idea at the end has another good use: If you still have hotkeys left you can easy your Blackmage life a lot. I use Strg-Shift and a number to Aetherskate to the partymember of that number. Makes it far easier to react to stuff and get around. Then again it basically eats a whole hotbar so beware of that. Nice video though really informative.
I swapped off of controller after playing it (and clearing three ultimates on it) for over 8 years. As of now, I'm playing with the tactical assault commander (ff14) hori keypad. The most useful macros for me are ones which change my hotbar loadout, similar to how you would on a controller with the R1 trigger. I've set it so that my middle-mouse button will swap all of my single-target actions to their AoE versions, and vice-versa. The TAC does not have issues with button limitations, but it still allows me to be fully comfortable with zero hand strain on every job. The most notable of classes that perform well with this is Samurai, who has pretty much an AoE version of every skill in its arsenal. I had gotten used to this hotbar swapping style from playing on controller, and was surprised to find not many people do this same thing on keyboard and mouse when it can save me a solid 7-9 buttons on some jobs like this. Just for the record, this does NOT invoke the issues of input delay, as the macro only swaps the hotbar's actions around, it does not actually try to use them, I still need to press the button which is not itself a macro.
As a controller player I can relate how good it is to easily switch between hotbars. I also use one hotbar dedicated to my single target rotation and another one for AoE and helps a lot with reducing buttons to press on your main hotbar. I can definitely see this kind of macro being helpful for mouse and keyboard players
I saw this video recommended and I had to check it out, as I like to know what macros are useful and what ones are not, of course I was lured by the thumbnail! Love your Au'ra! :D extremely useful macros! Definitely getting a sub from me!
Something useful to add to the end of the 'target certain party member' macros is /targetlastenemy . This will automatically make you re-target whatever you were targeting (most likely the boss) before using the macro
Thank you for the video. 2 things really helped me. one: The macro about doing a spell at groupmember X. I had a macro before where put in to target a groupmember, use the action and then retarget the last enemy. that was quite clumsy to use, much better now. and two: the multiple times doing an action in a macro helped too. very cool. thanks :)
I thought rez macros were primarily for letting your party know who you are rezzing so the second healer doesn't accidentally rez the same person, not for RP reasons. I just thought the text was just a fun bonus thing you could do with it. And yeah of course you can use it for RP reasons but it was more for practicality. Unless you're going for World 1st or something I think the benefits of the macro to alert other healers who you are swift raising outweighs the loss of DPS. Of course I am thinking of situations when you do not have contact with the other healer like Discord or something. In that case that macro is not needed.
6:00 For controller, I’m half sure that if you tab-target a specific person/enemy but not press X (on PlayStation) you can use an ability on them but it immediately snaps back to your “selected” target without breaking Auto-Attack
I wasn't sure if hybrid macros were even a thing (even if very controversial) in FFXIV, so thanks for the info! Also didn't know about gtoff at all, which is great when I don't want to use or .
I really like them a lot! I think they can be controversial because sometimes they can be unreliable, like going to the target you didn't want it to, but imo that's just the nature of macros sometimes, if it proves a problem for me, I'll have to cut it into 2 separate macros, but so far it's been really good to me. Either way, glad to have taught you something! :)
@@AzuriteTV yes I will try and see. I'm used to mo macros in other games this is a good way to keep what I'm used to while combining it with other options. Thanks!
Some people have already mentioned it before, but the Raise macros are rarely for roleplays. It's to tell the other healer & teammates that you're using your swiftcast/already on the job with a bit of flavour. It's basically telling them nicely: "Get the F-! out of that aoe, DPS, or you'll stay dead until the cooldown is over!" , or for the other healer(s): "I'm already ressing this person - keep the others alive in the meantime and don't waste your own Swiftcast." / With that said, you have a point in keeping Swiftcast and Raise separate, so instead I recommend keeping Swiftcast on its' own and then only putting Raise inside the macro together with a prepared party-message. Macro *Example* : /merror off /ac "Raise" /p "Time to RAISE your spirits!" /micon "Raise" Alternatively you can put the macro only on Swiftcast instead, to tell the others you've used it. Macro *example* : /merror off /ac "Swiftcast" /p "SWIFT action needed: Swiftcast activated! (Cooldown 60s!)" /micon "Swiftcast" That way you still communicate with your party without risking too much downtime and still keep down the buttons a bit. . Now, as a bonus I'll also recommend Tanks get a macro for skills that help keeping your healer alive in a pinch. For Paladins the skill Cover is a good example, and since I made it so Healers are always listed first I know there'll always be a healer in spot 2 and either a tank or the other healer in spot 3. You can obviously also do similar macro(s) with Warriors' skill Nascent Flash, Dark Knight's skill Blackest Night/Oblation, Gunbreaker's skill Aurora/Heart of Corundum - but for this example I'll use Paladin's Cover. Macro *example* : /merror off /ac "Cover" /ac "Cover" /p "COVER-ing my ally!" /micon "Cover" I also recommend Tanks to do a macro for your invul, since it can be easy to miss and an auto-message in party chat for it will save your healer a lot of stress. ESPECIALLY if you're certain tank who shoots yourself in the foot to get the inv. (Glares unimpressed at my Gunbreaker friend who used Superbolide on the first mob for my very first run as a healer just to scare me). - _ -
"I didn't say you can die yet" is my main macro as healer. Its basically telling the party that they arent staying dead if i have anything to say about it! Its also the most fitting for the character that uses it.
hey thanks to this video i made a mouse over thunderclap macro! i can't have it spam as much or it might use it multiple times but it's way more applicable now for quick out and in.
Literally the first "don't do this" is something I was trying to do for lazily playing my job(blm). Automated dps. It's garbage dps for sure, but it was more of a "can I do this to the point where it flows perfectly fine" over actual dps. After coming up with something, I told a buddy of mine - who apparently can't play blm for some reason - and he wanted me to share it with him so he could play the job. Apparently he was so bad at it he needed a 4 button macro that would run through roughly the spells I use so he could be better. At the time, my dps was something like 12-13k or maybe 14k on a dummy(pre endwalker), can't recall. All I do recall is that the dps from the macro's was about 7-8k. xD Again, I never used it in any live situation. Never got past testing phase, but it sure as shit was funny hearing "Don't put GCD's in your macro" when literally that's what I was doing. xD
Most useful combat macro I’ve found as a console player is Dragon Sight. Console players can’t click their target obviously, so rather than mashing the up or down button however many times to pick my target, use dragon sight, and go back to my enemy target within the short time the GCD is rolling, I pick my target at the start of the battle as my Focus Target and have Dragon Sight in the macro set to always fall on my focus target. The last line of the Macro is to just execute the action as normal for solo content. /merror off /aerror off /ac “Dragon Sight” (x11) /ac “Dragon Sight” (with no target tag) /micon “Dragon Sight” I’m still leveling Dragoon(only level 72 right now) so I haven’t been able to use it for any end game content, but the few times I’ve used it in dungeons, it works well when I actually remember to pick a focus target. That’s not on the macro, though. That’s my scatter(impact) brain
Something I think I forgot to mention is you should be wary about double weaving with macros, you can get away with it depending on oGCD animation and good ping, but just be aware of your ping and the oGCD animation and identify this for yourself
This is actually the reason for the existence of a sprint macro for many. It makes it possible to double weave Sprint considering it's unqueue-able nature.
I think it would be beneficial for all that you explain what these macros not only do - But what they mean as well. Example: "/merror" and "/micon" stands for "Macro Error" and "Macro Icon". The "m" stands for Macro. You can also use "/macroerror" and "/macroicon" in the actual macro as well. This will allow a newer player to understand WHY you are using said syntax in your macros. Also "/gtoff" stands for "Ground Targeting Off". When you use a ground targeting skill you can see that when you try and use it without gtoff you will see at the top where it says "Ground Targeting Mode".
Macros are not for roleplay. They are for communicating with your party members, so they know not to raise the person you just raised or that the damage buff is up and it's a good time for your burst window or LB or that the boss has been stunned and melee don't have to run from the AoE. Yes, there may be other ways to see these but most people (especially Sprouts) don't pay attention to tiny markers and using the chat is much better
idk if it is noted in the comment or not but for pc you can drag the ability/skill/spell to the macro page and the name will be written there, so you can for crafting macro put down the rotation as whole then do "/ac" after everything is set up, i recommend for crafting macros to put " on GCD action and " for OGCD action, GCD = global cool down and OGCD = off global cool down,
I went like getting a macro with the command not only for raise but also for the role action sleep to let people know to not use AoE's yet to wake up the monsters while the tank recovers after it died.
EZ macro for AST. Cast and forget. Mind you, you'll need to keep your mouseover until everything is casted, otherwise, you'll have to use Draw manually to benefit from it. Saves you a lot of hassle. /merror off /ac "Draw" /ac "Play" /ac "Astrodyne" /micon "Draw"
The MO and for off tank actions is huge, I need to see if the controller's light target counts as MO, if it does that can save a lot of head aches. I used the to to for these abilities and bound them to F2 to F8 but then have the on hotbars still as I'm used to that. I use controller so the F2 to F8 was a compromise to make it quicker than scrolling down the party list. I do 100% have to make it spam the abilities on my macros too, I may have to try the sprint on too, I'm a button spammer as it is but if I don't have as much time to spam sprint that would help to confirm it goes through
These aren't bad! My only concern is the slight delay to macro when using something like an invuln can mean life or death, but a good alternative if you just use invuln earlier rather then later
Great video, I'm going to try some of these out. I was wondering, why do you have the macro'd GBR abilities doubled on your hotbar? Just for reliability if the macro fails?
Rather than spamming an /ac, just add a parameter after the first cast. Change the 2 to any number of seconds, like 1.5 or whatever, to account for the first skill's potential tick delay, cast time, and cast animation. Example: /merror off /ac "Swiftcast" /ac "Raise" /p Get up, buttercup, we need you in battle! /micon "Swiftcast"
You only need as the animation lock for Swiftcast is less than 1 second. Also, the /ac spam is only for macros like shirk where there's only one ability. You would never do that on a macro that uses multiple.
I've tried that hybrid macro almost exactly the same, but it was functioning terribly probably cause i was using 13 lines of and 1 line that had nothing between the to give it to myself (blackest knight). I had to stop using them since they were hurting my overall gameplay but might try it again and see how it goes!
Hmm, usually when I do these macros I can only manage to single weave them and I still have to kinda spam them religiously, but they work out for me so far! Maybe doing what Lumin says could be a good alternative and I might have to try that myself too!
@@LuminNox I will try that thanks. I have a keybind on my mouse to scroll down the party list to target whoever I want to give my buffs and it has been doing wonders atm. If i am doing a raid i use a mouse over macro but never tried a hybrid one since it was working really badly haha :D
I used to do that macro with the buttons right next to the party members (resized so it fits properly) on my AST. I find it really neat to give out the cards that way. But I am not even remotely an AST main so it's more for my own convenience than efficiency.
Raise macros are more to inform your co-healer (or rez mage) that you are reviving that person so there's no double-res happening. One thing I would recommend is use the auto translate dictionary instead of putting the action in quotes. It's much easier and doesn't require you to remember the full name. Simply start typing the ability name then press tab to complete it. You can still put quotes around it if you want to but they won't be needed. The only job this doesn't work for is Blue Mage because their spells aren't in the auto-translate dictionary. In regards to /merror (short for Macro Error), that does not need to be at the top of the list. Just like you've done with /micon (Macro Icon), it can be at the bottom. For controller users, you can soft target things which works similar to mouse over. Take an ability like Aurora for example. With a mouse, you can have it so it casts on whoever your mouse is hovering over (and if there's nobody or it's an invalid target it will use on yourself). Using a controller, you can use Up/Down on your D-pad to scroll the party list while still targetting the boss. If you then use Aurora, it will use it on who you are highlighting without changing who you are targetting and therefore, you don't lose any auto-attacks. I do not know if the tag works with this to allow for the macro you used in the video for Heart of Corundum. If I remember when I get home, I'll test it. Another tag you forgot to mention is . What this means is the target of your target. In most cases, the target of your target will be whoever is tanking at that time. If that happens to be you, it will target you. It can be helpful if there's a boss mechanic that causes them to target a random party member and you want to place your Aurora or Heart of Corundum on them. You don't have to worry about figuring out who it is targetting. I see so many macros that use on abilities that require a target (Aurora, Raise, etc.). The tag on anything that isn't a ground targetting effect is completely useless. It doesn't cause a problem but it's just wasting character space in your macro. Same with using on abilites that must target yourself like Swiftcast or Surecast or abilites that auto-target yourself if you don't specify a valid target (Auroroa, Heart of Corundum, etc). The and tags should only be used on ground targetting effects.
I hate that tbh. by the time one healer presses that macro and swiftcast, the other healer probably already did unless they specifically wait a bit. But then what happens if both healers wait a bit? Its jus silly. Its why I always prefer to say ill res first and ill start from the bottom of the party list. That way if 1 d00d dies, we both know who is swiftcasting immediately. And if 2 people die, we both know who were ressing.
100% same here…I don’t even use wait, just tap it multiple times and I’m always the first to get a res off since it targets the first dead player so I also don’t need to target. It’s reflexive at this point and trying to do it manually seems nuts since it’s so much faster. If you have a good connection (like I do) I notice no difference when using macros with GCD abilities and just hitting the skills and it allows you to get very granular with how your skills behave.
@@agentstepp with that setup you must've already noticed you sometimes starting to hardcast the raise without swiftcast actually going off first. If not you were lucky on that side. I'm glad it's working out for you though. I can just say from my own experience that GCD macros are typically not used in optimal gameplay due to how unreliable they are in general because they have a slight delay and don't queue like normal skills.
Just because I haven't seen it mentioned, but you only need to put quotes around the name of the skill in the macro when the skill name has multiple words in it. So Aurora is only one word, so it wouldn't require quotation marks, but "Shake It Off" is multiple words, so it would require quotes.
As a controller player, I don't really use macros other than for Sprint and Raise (not swiftcast). TECHNICALLY I don't use a "macro" per se with Sprint, at least... not in the traditional fashion. See, as a controller player there is an option to change my thumb stick presses function, ranging from draw/sheathe weapon/lock on, to sit/lockon, or just lockon, OR, and this is where sprint comes in "Execute Macro #99" so I have my right thumbstick set to execute macro 99, and made a sprint macro conveniently on macro 99, so I can sprint at the touch of a button. Though, thinking about it now, I might revamp it to spam sprint instead of just having it once. Other than that, I find macros to be wayyyy too clunky to actually be useful for me personally. I've tried some of the QoL macros like for quick ground targeting for Asylum and the like but... Iunno... I just didn't like it. I'm pretty quick at setting those down where I want them without macros anyway so, ymmv. I've also tried those weird healer DPS macros that use and so that you can attack the enemy either by targeting the mob or the main tank or w/e cause it'll either attack the target, or the target's target, but I just didn't like how it messed with my overall flow so I stopped using those ones as well. SO yeah, I just don't really use macros lol
Combat macros are FANTASTIC with high ping. I've not had a single problem with my Ninja. PVP and PVE. My damage is fantastic and all my earth sky sea have passed with no issue.
6:28 another way to avoid this is turning on the setting that lets you untarget by clicking on nothing and have auto target turned on so when you use a gcd attack, it will automatically target the boss
6:27 not only auto attacks but the minor amount of time you would have to spend to click and target each person to use each ability, adds up rather exponentially fast. .25 sec each time, say.. 8 person team, if you are trying to cast a HoT on each person single target like, 8x.25 seconds is a LOT of time vs, being able to mouseover and cast mouseover cast, and this is just in the "im standing perfectly still" situation...
the literal only time clicking actually slows you down vs mouseover is if you need to triple weave. In your given scenario you have the entirety of a GCD to click on the next person.
Well that's pretty lazy and braindead. I can understand why each patch makes this game easier and more casual. Pressing 1 button over and over is enjoyable. Ffs lmao
I haven't tried SMN yet, maybe for the memes I'll try this macro, but I doubt I would use it over just pressing my buttons as it still will have an effect on DPS... I think, idk how many oGCDs SMN actually has to have a negative effect, played around with the hotbar the other day and seemed half empty...
But are you actually doing adequate damage? I doubt it, you’re probably doing around 50% less dps than you should be doing and making all the parties you’re in suffer.
The HM of target 2/3/4 is a godsend type Macro for console users, specifically those that heal. I remember building a few back in the day of ARR/HS for that...
An addendum about Mouse-Over macros and controllers. While its true we can't do as fast, they are kinda baked in our inputs. We press Up or Down to "pre-target" someone, use skill, this will make our skill act with "mouse-over" them and not target them completely. But its slower than mouse its true.
What i do for the Rez macro, is that i dont macro swift-cast, but i 'do' put the Party message into a macro that also casts the Raise. Its not so much for RP Purposes, but to let any other healers know that "hey, ive already started rezing X", as a way to try to avoid double-rezes.
Is there a way that instead of your combo combat weaponskills that you can set them all in 1 Marco and when you use the first ws. Then the 2nd is ready to select and use? I've noticed that was a thing in the pvp. I'm having trouble finding that in just normal game play.
I personally find it better to NOT have swift cast as part of any macro. Have it seperate and have the chat and rez in 1 macro. That way there are times when you can't actually use swiftcast and need to do a slow rez. The party chat still goes off and you can use rez whenever.
hmmm. Can you /micon indivual ast cards? like [/micon "The Balance"] ? if so that might be use able with an [/ac "play" ]macro so you never have to remember the cards function, just "Icon go bur" Like if you set ranged and healer to be party member 2-4 or something and so bowl, ewer, and spire are micons to [/ac "play" 2 /ac "play" 3] ect?
from 12:07 as a healer main, that makes me wonder if it would be possible to set up a whole healbar for each member. Basically like Healbot in WoW (well, that's closer to mouseover, but close enough)
Can't seem to remember but I macro my 1 2 3 on controller paladin... However it is the first action in the macro... and it only exists to swap my hotbar accordingly
I do like having some delay in the timer just so I can cancel it if I need to. For example: I have a macro that when use will activate “Enshroud” (Reaper) and after 1 second “North Wind.” Let’s say I use the macro, but I’m going to be using the AoE attack so north wind would be pointless. All I need to do is activate the macro, have enshroud activate, then queue up an attack, and have the North Wind activation fail.
This is brilliant, I completely forgot about this! Definitely a fool proof way of miss spelling ability names and the likes
Using the auto translate feature does help as well when you're switching game language as well. I play in both French and English, so I can keep using my macros seemlessly.
Just adding that it's R1 / RT on controller
@@AzuriteTV To add to this, the reason you don't need quotes for some and you do for others is because quotation marks are only needed for abilities that have more than 1 word in their name.
oh i dont think the raise macros are for roleplay. they're for letting people know that you're taking care of that raise so no one wastes a swift cast or double raises
That just makes no difference though. With Endwalker you can see the healer's res target in the party list. Same goes for a res buff on a party member. In the heat of the moment you don't look at chat before using your swiftcast res anyway.
@@LuminNox might not make sense but still. it's more likely that than for 'roleplay' reasons. in the heat of the moment, they might not even look at the party list and it could be easier to get attention with macros bc of the noise that goes off when used
@@astra.3212 It all has its pros and cons. Raise macros are just not super reliable because it delays the raise and queueing might not work properly.
God that was much longer than I intended
Honestly I completely missed the point about this not just being "role-play" but also being an easy form of communication, so my bad on that one!
EW made it so you see the raise target on the party list now.
A good one for healers is this allows you to still attack while still targeting the tank.
The is also useful for healer to use oGCDs on the MT like for TB to stick with the boss as target as a side note :)
@@Shampoodarkif You were to use shirk, Youre probably target of the target in the first place :D
@@Ishi112 Hmmm no because evrey tank use provoke befor shirk so the new rank is TT then :P
Also a little side note i never use shirk i always turn off/on stance which is easiert and less weaving (i play this game since ARR so im used to stance dance xD)
I think the Raise macro text is not only for RP reasons, it makes it easier for the other healer to know that person is already taken care of.
also for red mages, they are technically raisers and healers too.
always let the party know if you use an ability the others do not expect yet
For console or controller players, will work in place of mouseover macros.
Not a combat macro, but I use a QoL macro scheme that creates a expandable/collapsible menu on the hud that allows me to change jobs easily, without much clutter. It involves using the base class hotbars to store the buttons and using a macro to swap them into a shared hotbar.
I have a keybind to the gear set list. I click a key and the entire list comes up and I can select one.
I use the hud macros too and you can actually take it further with summoner and scholar. Make macros that switch to the gearset, wait .3 (to account for your mana maybe being empty from the other class), then summon carbuncle/eos.
the sprint macro is a lifesaver for me
example:
if you want to get out of a mechanic and you just double weaved, the sprint macro guarantee that it activates and the normal one you have to spam it and it will be delayed
Make BLM much more fluid yes! And I also use a leylines one to save on clutter.
Really good suggestion! Gets rid of the whole process of having to target someone which can take away from the flow of BLM
You need macros that spam anime attacks names for your samurai abilities, it will help increase your dps if shout the name of the attack before you do it
True. And healers shouls as many snarky rez and single target heal macros as posible. It will help DPS to learn not to take damage.
actually works on other abilities too, not just ground targeted ones.
@@TheBorzoi Well, that's not what the Balance Discord says under WAR resources and they're pretty reliable.
This will fix things up for me very nicely.
oh yeah, this is staple for healing. Anyone trying to heal a big raid, by click targeting is doing it wrong.
There's actually a setting in character settings where you can double your ground trageting skill to put it down. I found this out recently and it was a complete game changer. With this you don't need to macro skills like asylum, sacred soil, and star at all cause you can just double tap the skill and it'll put it down where your cursor is and there's no delay whatsoever!
where is that option? D:
@@ricard_fp Esc>char config>target on the top tab>ground targeting settings>press action twice to execute
I also used this setting, especially on SCH and WHM, for AST star the aoe is way too large to warrant another button press..... like, if it is not hitting you, it is literally your fault.
Thanks! I didn't watch the previous video this is good info.
@@qamarqammar7629 time to give it a watch then if you have the time it has really useful information. 😊
Oh you can do this? Thank you!
If you could explain how to set up the macro a bit more pls? I'm new to FFXIV so I'm not too sure how to do it
3:20 you also can turn this off in the Character Configuration under Chatlog, Server Error Messages, no need to waste a line in the macro^^
9:55 I like to use Macros on Sage so I can shield the Tank and Toxicon the enemy back to back
11:06 Auto-Translate works for macros aswell so you don't need Quotation Marks and you can use your Macros on All Clients for example: on a german client /ac "shirk" does nothing but shirk written in auto-translate will work!
There is one macro that I started to use to remind me when a skill with 2 min cool down is available:
/macroicon "Arcane circle"
/merror off
/ac "Arcane Circle"
/echo Arcane Circle 60 sec
/echo
/echo
/echo
Not a bad idea! The only problem is if you use another macro in between, it will cancel this macro (I think? Unless they changed it) so it could be good if you don't have any other macros on your reaper.
Another good alterative to this is adding an extra hotbar to your HUD, just make it 1 button, the arcane circle in this case, and make it BIG, and above your hotbar so its hard to miss, that way whenever your look at your hotbar or the encounter in general, you'll always see that cooldown ticking :)
Might as well use plugins at this point
@@AzuriteTV You are right. If you use another macro when one is active, it cancels the active one and starts the new one.
I had a macro before where put in to target a groupmember, use the action and then retarget the last enemy. that was quite clumsy to use, much better now. and two: the multiple times doing an action in a macro helped too. very cool. thanks :)
Oh wow. I just made MNK Thunderclap a mouse of macro and it is so helpful to fluidly use it.
I'm a mute in my discord so it's the best way to tell my co healer what I'm doing.
mouse over is definitely going to be a game changer as a Healer for me since I dont have to click back and forth between enemies and party meembers
Macro *Example* :
/merror off
/ac "Raise"
/p "Time to RAISE your spirits!"
/micon "Raise"
Alternatively you can put the macro only on Swiftcast instead, to tell the others you've used it. Macro *example* :
/merror off
/ac "Swiftcast"
/p "SWIFT action needed: Swiftcast activated! (Cooldown 60s!)"
/micon "Swiftcast"
That way you still communicate with your party without risking too much downtime and still keep down the buttons a bit.
Macro *example* :
/merror off
/ac "Cover"
/ac "Cover"
/p "COVER-ing my ally!"
/micon "Cover"
I also recommend Tanks to do a macro for your invul, since it can be easy to miss and an auto-message in party chat for it will save your healer a lot of stress.
ESPECIALLY if you're certain tank who shoots yourself in the foot to get the inv.
(Glares unimpressed at my Gunbreaker friend who used Superbolide on the first mob for my very first run as a healer just to scare me). - _ -
I actually learned a lot from this and I was already using lots of macros!
The gtoff command makes NIN Shukuchi sooooo much snappier!
Thank you for the sprint Macro- gonna most definitely use that 1…
i thank you so much for that gtoff macro i searched for something like this since endwalker release
There is a macro you can make to set sprint to left joystick on controller to completely remove the sprint icon off your hot bar
All I do recall is that the dps from the macro's was about 7-8k. xD
Again, I never used it in any live situation. Never got past testing phase, but it sure as shit was funny hearing "Don't put GCD's in your macro" when literally that's what I was doing. xD
For Heart of Corundrum i use a
Additional note for /micon:
You see the remaining cooldown and amount of stacks of your ability on your Icon. Like "Life Surge" or "Draw" recharges.
/merror off
/aerror off
/ac “Dragon Sight” (x11)
/ac “Dragon Sight” (with no target tag)
/micon “Dragon Sight”
I’m still leveling Dragoon(only level 72 right now) so I haven’t been able to use it for any end game content, but the few times I’ve used it in dungeons, it works well when I actually remember to pick a focus target. That’s not on the macro, though. That’s my scatter(impact) brain
Something I think I forgot to mention is you should be wary about double weaving with macros, you can get away with it depending on oGCD animation and good ping, but just be aware of your ping and the oGCD animation and identify this for yourself
ok i gotta know, WHERE do you get that gunblade XD
@@raexau6634 The Gunblade is from The Epic of Alexander Ultimate :)
This is actually the reason for the existence of a sprint macro for many. It makes it possible to double weave Sprint considering it's unqueue-able nature.
Are you saying you *Shouldn't* do mouseover healing macros?
I think it would be beneficial for all that you explain what these macros not only do - But what they mean as well.
Example:
"/merror" and "/micon" stands for "Macro Error" and "Macro Icon".
Thanks for the gterroroff, I didn't even know that was an option. My healer friends will like that
Macros are not for roleplay.
I like using the macro to sprint and mount on the same button. Then I put it on my R3. Helps a lot with button cluttering on gamepad
you may include the _peloton_ ability in the macro as well if you are dancer bard etc.
Some time ago my mate introduced me to a 'ride party pillion' macro that spammed through all available seats of a mount
EZ macro for AST. Cast and forget. Mind you, you'll need to keep your mouseover until everything is casted, otherwise, you'll have to use Draw manually to benefit from it. Saves you a lot of hassle.
/merror off
/ac "Draw"
/ac "Play"
/ac "Astrodyne"
/micon "Draw"
The MO and for off tank actions is huge, I need to see if the controller's light target counts as MO, if it does that can save a lot of head aches. I used the to to for these abilities and bound them to F2 to F8 but then have the on hotbars still as I'm used to that. I use controller so the F2 to F8 was a compromise to make it quicker than scrolling down the party list. I do 100% have to make it spam the abilities on my macros too, I may have to try the sprint on too, I'm a button spammer as it is but if I don't have as much time to spam sprint that would help to confirm it goes through
JP macros for invul + countdown to let healer take note when they need to heal are awesome
12:20 I love that idea, I might experiment with that.
Rather than spamming an /ac, just add a parameter after the first cast. Change the 2 to any number of seconds, like 1.5 or whatever, to account for the first skill's potential tick delay, cast time, and cast animation.
Example:
/merror off
/ac "Swiftcast"
/ac "Raise"
/p Get up, buttercup, we need you in battle!
/micon "Swiftcast"
the wait command can only use whole numbers so 1.5 would not work it would just round up or down to 1 or 2
You only need as the animation lock for Swiftcast is less than 1 second.
Also, the /ac spam is only for macros like shirk where there's only one ability. You would never do that on a macro that uses multiple.
Little of this has use to me being a console player, but the shirk macro was super valuable for me in the time I was raiding Asphodelos savage as OT.
If you macro Shirk, put in a text notification. It just gives that added heads up to the other tank (and healers).
If I could give you 5 thumbs up I would! Excellent job.
I think you need a macro to extract materia from your gear!! Just teasin' - this was a great video. :D
Thanks for these tips. I subbed!
Appreciate you friend!
I've tried that hybrid macro almost exactly the same, but it was functioning terribly probably cause i was using 13 lines of and 1 line that had nothing between the to give it to myself (blackest knight). I had to stop using them since they were hurting my overall gameplay but might try it again and see how it goes!
just try 3-4 lines instead of 13, it'll do wonders for hybrid macros :)
Hmm, usually when I do these macros I can only manage to single weave them and I still have to kinda spam them religiously, but they work out for me so far!
Maybe doing what Lumin says could be a good alternative and I might have to try that myself too!
Try instead of , it's been working well for me
@@LuminNox I will try that thanks. I have a keybind on my mouse to scroll down the party list to target whoever I want to give my buffs and it has been doing wonders atm. If i am doing a raid i use a mouse over macro but never tried a hybrid one since it was working really badly haha :D
Great video man!!
The hybrid macros are a have-to for me, i always macro MO together with just in case for my personal mit, and then an only for my co-tank
I used to do that macro with the buttons right next to the party members (resized so it fits properly) on my AST.
I find it really neat to give out the cards that way.
But I am not even remotely an AST main so it's more for my own convenience than efficiency.
it's very cute and probably really nice for DPS classes or even tanks. But as an AST main, too many double weaves to even consider macros.
I disagree a Swiftcast + Raise with a small and without the party msg does not really have that much of a delay and makes it so much easier
Why not just have the message appear after you begin casting raise?
Really helpful! Thank you, brilliant! :-)
You're brilliant!
Just because I haven't seen it mentioned, but you only need to put quotes around the name of the skill in the macro when the skill name has multiple words in it. So Aurora is only one word, so it wouldn't require quotation marks, but "Shake It Off" is multiple words, so it would require quotes.
I got the confitieor combo on one button and it works well enough.
If you use a macro that will target yourself last, be sure that you are in range to use the ability or it will be used on yourself.
I’ve always wanted to play a healer, but the task seems quite daunting (I use a controller) but macros might be the way to go for me. Thanks!
How did you get your target marks on your UI at the top?
What is your opinion of the 1 button Summoner macro set up by PuffPastryPrince? I'm using it and find it quite enjoyable.
Useful if you're mentally handicapped.
that shirk macro though playing on controller and doing it normally is pain that will help lol
But its slower than mouse its true.
this is so cool. thanks alot!
What i do for the Rez macro, is that i dont macro swift-cast, but i 'do' put the Party message into a macro that also casts the Raise. Its not so much for RP Purposes, but to let any other healers know that "hey, ive already started rezing X", as a way to try to avoid double-rezes.
is it worth using a macro (mo) for things like benific 2 or the card system for astro?
Is there a way that instead of your combo combat weaponskills that you can set them all in 1 Marco and when you use the first ws. Then the 2nd is ready to select and use? I've noticed that was a thing in the pvp. I'm having trouble finding that in just normal game play.
I personally find it better to NOT have swift cast as part of any macro. Have it seperate and have the chat and rez in 1 macro. That way there are times when you can't actually use swiftcast and need to do a slow rez. The party chat still goes off and you can use rez whenever.
This was a great video
We all love a good Sacred Asylum.
Anyway, good video as always. I'm following, I liked it and I commented for the algorithm like the good boy I am.
:azuritPat:
The only thing I use that hotbar party macro thing for is Play on AST. Huge gamechanger for the job imo!
It would work, but prepare to either click all of those abilties, or have 500 keybinds.
Can't seem to remember but I macro my 1 2 3 on controller paladin... However it is the first action in the macro... and it only exists to swap my hotbar accordingly
Gonna start trying to make double weave macros and test them later
Swiftcast into rez is very useful for controllers. The way I have it set up is there are 36 slots and I have no room for swift cast.
I do like having some delay in the timer just so I can cancel it if I need to.
For example: I have a macro that when use will activate “Enshroud” (Reaper) and after 1 second “North Wind.”
Let’s say I use the macro, but I’m going to be using the AoE attack so north wind would be pointless. All I need to do is activate the macro, have enshroud activate, then queue up an attack, and have the North Wind activation fail.
I think you're talking about "True North"?
RPR skills lose their positional requirements under Enshroud so you actually don't even need that :)
@@LuminNox... Ok, besides that. point still stands on having some delay in macro
