Quite something, eh? I play this for my friends when it's quiet in the evening. Put's them in a zone. Boz Scaggs' singing is full of pain and soulful lament. Duane's guitar winds along. One of his best. It was one more sad day in the 70's when we heard he too had passed away. Thanks for this one, also.
The first time Duane went to Muscle Shoals he couldn't believe all those studio cats were white. His influencers were Buddy Guy, BB King, Taj Mahal, Blind Willie Dixon. The soul of Duane Skydog Allman lives on. It's amazing how much music he made in his tragically shortened life.
Ear candy for those of us that have listened to this masterpiece for so many years. As good as it gets. Muscle Shoals produced in my opinion a tremendous amount of utterly fantastic music. What a time to be alive. God bless.
This was recorded at the legendary studio at Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Artists who recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio included The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Duane Allman, George Michael, Wilson Pickett, Willie Nelson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Joe Cocker, Levon Helm, Paul Simon, Bob Seger, Rod Stewart, Tamiko Jones, Cher, Cat Stevens and Boz Scaggs.
Wayne jackson and the Memphis Horns made that recording magic. Im surprised they made the trip down to 3614 Jackson Highway, Sheffield, Alabama,. Population 3,000. Immortal recording.
Have you heard Duane with Aretha Franklin? Check it out. It was the creation of southern rock, also at Muscle Shoals. Btw, this was about 10 days after I was born.
Duane Allman of "The Allman Bros" Blues Band. He died in 1972 I think. One of the great "Slide" guitarists ever. Boz Skaggs is so underrated as an artist. He must be in his mid to late 70s these days. Thanks for this.
Great music. Duane lives on in Derek Trucks now. Duanne has a style you can always recognize in a song. So sad we lost him so early. Boz is a boss on vocals.
Has always been my favorite Boz Scaggs album and "Loan Me a Dime" is just an awesome, flawless version of a blues classic. I've listened to it hundreds of time and every nuance still give me chills.
Definitely one of my Desert Island albums. People these days seem to think Boz came on the scene with Silk Degrees simply because he had 4 hit singles off of that album. It was his 6th and every one of the previous albums were stellar as well. Particularly this self titled release.
Duane is pronounced like Dwayne as in D Wade. He played guitars. One of the great blues guitarists ever and he died at 24 in a motorcycle accident. The organ wasn't credited in the video but I think it was Booker T. Jones. Edit: I take that last part back. It was Barry Beckett on all the keys.
Man there’s no music like the blues I got turned on to the blues in 1984 at a party and I have been hooked ever since I’m 53 years young and I love the blues more than I ever have
Possibly/Definitely One of the Greatest ever forgotten LPs from 1968? The Steve Miller Band 'Sailor ' and Boz was a big part of that Band before he left and and took his own path!! And what a voice??!!!... X🎉
For a man who passed way too early in his life Duane Allman was a brilliant musician . Please pronounce his name correctly, Its pronounced Dwayne just spelled differently! Definitely not trying to be rude , but he does deserve to have his story told correctly to get the credit he has earned . Thanks and keep on with the reviews, love to see this music still being enjoyed !
According to Wiki this song was part of a 40 minute jam and got edited down the the tune we have loved for decades. I can only dream of what that entire jam sounded like, you were very lucky to be in the studio that day!
Give Boz a chance with smooth tunes like NOTHING BUT THE BLUES, LIDO SHUFFLE, MISS SUN, BREAKDOWN DEAD, AHEAD, SIERRA, THANKS TO YOU, I'LL BE THE ONE, LOST IT, TIME, and FOLLOW THAT MAN. All great tunes that you'd love to hear. Boz is classic jazzy, soulful, and smooth as silk. A must-listen to artist with a deep rabbit hole to explore.
It just doesn't get any smoother!!.. I'm pretty sure my face and reactions are pretty much the same..only perhaps abit more exaggerated ..when I listen to this treasure!!
This song is the best day of my life. Long story short, beautiful day, heard this song while eating, went up to the shack playing it, was like "Another beer, and what was that song?" "You liked that?" dude replayed the song for me. Not sure if ya'll ever had that "This is it" moment. I had it right there and then, this song is that best moment
Wow. This was a wonderful performance all round. I really loved it and would love to hear more. Can some one tell the name of the album this is from? Are the other songs bluesy too? I remember hearing Boz on the radio decades ago, but nothing like this..
Duane always played so loud and kept his amp turned up so high they moved him outside the studio to a bathroom for this song. At least that's what I've always heard.
Get the 2-disc 'Duane Allman- An Anthology'!!! 'Goin' Down Slow' and "Loan Me a Dime' are 2 of the greatest slide-guitar blues tunes you will ever hear! And it's pronounced "DWAYNE" not "DJUAN"!!!
Also you want another badass jam getcha some Stevie ray Vaughn with Johnny Clyde Copeland TIN PAN ALLEY.....hold onto your head it will blow your mind...
Just remember that Duane (pronounced just like Dwayne) was only with the Allman Bros Band for, i believe, two albums...self titled and Eat a Peach plus the legendary Live at Fillmore East double. Listen to and review anything from those. They werent the same without him. Not bad, but not as good. In Memory Of Elizabeth Reid (fine to do a live cut from Fillmore East) and Blue Sky (album track) are my two favorite songs but there are many.
Hey Biz man, Great Reaction to s Great song. Boz's vocals and keyboards are so classic blues and then add in Duane Allman guitar work is soooo sweet. Pure Talent, pure Soul... No Auto tune. If you get a chance check out another great concert clip at UA-cam music...... Slash & Boz Scaggs- Red House 9-2-1995. I promise you won't be disappointed ❤❤❤
Not something I'd normally listen to but quite liked it..definatelly chill music. Would love you to check out James.. "say something" or "Sometimes" brilliant band from early 90s over here in the UK 👍 👍

Hi biz... this is one of the greatest blues songs of all time ... thanks
God bless.
Muscle Shoals! THE HISTORY!
Love Roger Hawkins on drums 👍
This is a spectacular song. Early Boz Scaggs and the late, great Duane Allman on guitar. Enjoy

If you haven't seen the documentary about the music made in Muscle Shoals it's time to check it out.
Absolutely 👍🏼 ❤
Wayne jackson and the Memphis Horns made that recording magic. Im surprised they made the trip down to 3614 Jackson Highway, Sheffield, Alabama,. Population 3,000. Immortal recording.
For my money this is so much better than his commercially successful ones.

Beautiful piece of music. Thanks Biz.
Duane Allman #longliveSkydog
Recently retired dj for over 50 years. This is a favorite of mine and I’d shared with my listeners. A classic more people should hear.
JUST PURE FIRE 🔥🎸🔥🎤🔥
Definitely one of my Desert Island albums. People these days seem to think Boz came on the scene with Silk Degrees simply because he had 4 hit singles off of that album. It was his 6th and every one of the previous albums were stellar as well. Particularly this self titled release.
People also forget that Boz was in the original Steve Miller Band, before the Fly Like An Eagle era. Very interesting band.
The Steve Miller Blues Band prior to going solo. Boz does a great cover of Neil Young's On The Beach.
'Sailor ' difficult to choose a favourite?!!!!
But it's Definitely up there!!!!....
Now Muscle Shoals has got The Swampers...and they've been known to pick a song or two... 🎶 ❤️ 🎶
Lynyrd Skynyrd
@markbauer827👍👌✌️ Sweet Home Alabama

Boz, Duane and Muscle Shoals.........beautiful
Man there’s no music like the blues I got turned on to the blues in 1984 at a party and I have been hooked ever since I’m 53 years young and I love the blues more than I ever have
What a duo. Musical perfection
Wow ! First time to hear this. It’s awesome
You found a real gem here. Thanks.
A favorite song and singer since 1970 when I saw Boz at the Celebration of Life pop festival in Loosisna.
Duane = Dwayne

This is music.
One of my favorite tracks of all time! Thanks.
Mine too! I can remember exactly when I first heard it 46 years ago....
He plays guitar.... Duane that is....or however you pronounce it.....lead guitar on this song .....his brother Greg played the Hammond B3 organ....
Possibly/Definitely One of the Greatest ever forgotten LPs from 1968?
The Steve Miller Band 'Sailor ' and Boz was a big part of that Band before he left and and took his own path!!
And what a voice??!!!...

Never heard this one thanks for the treat
This and "The Thrill Is Gone" are what I play when I feel like listening to a bit of the blues.
Wow. This one I’ve never heard. Awesome. The old Muscle Shoals studio sounds. So tasty. Thanks for this , I’m gonna get this one.

Man I miss Duane Allman He is the man that invented the slide guitar sound
He may not have invented it, but Skydog damn sure perfected it!
Boz Scaggs. Frisco. Duain Allman. Missed 🙏🇺🇸🌄

This is from the Album named Boz Scaggs.
The whole album is great. We had great music in 1968, but this was my all time favorite.
@@nana65dowd Thanks, I'll look for it.
Very Interesting Side Note;
I don't know if it was His Last, but I believe that it was the 1st Effort of Jann Wenner as a Producer. Good Job, Jann!
Duane always played so loud and kept his amp turned up so high they moved him outside the studio to a bathroom for this song. At least that's what I've always heard.

Duane Allman is NOT on the keyboards. WTF?
Yeah I know…I caught that too
This dude is pretty HALF ASSED MOST OF THE TIME! Not very in tune with the music or the players!
Maybe there’s a better piece of music ever recorded. But, if so, I’ve never heard it.
Welcome to my world of the 60 70
LEAD GUITAR DUANE ALLMAN!!......NOT ON THE KEYS!
If hard to take this guy serious when he doesn't even know the names of the artists
