What’s the movie “The Break-Up” about?
Pushed to the brink after yet another "Why can't you do this one little thing for me?" domestic dispute, art dealer Brooke Meyer (Jennifer Aniston from Friends and Just Go With It) decides to break up with her fiancé Gary Grobowski (Vince Vaughn from Rudy and Couples Retreat), a tour guide in Chicago. Yet neither of them is willing to move out of the apartment they share, and the only solution is to continue living under the same roof as enemy co-tenants until one of them gives in. What follows is a series of tactics, sometimes suggested by old friends of the couple, sometimes by confidants and sometimes even by total strangers, designed to undermine the opponent. But somewhere between the pool table in the living room, the dirty laundry piled up in the kitchen closet, and the games being watched at full volume in the middle of the night, Brooke gradually realizes that what she's fighting for isn't so much the apartment as it is Gary. In an unexpected twist, Gary changes, but isn't it already too late?

If he had taken his relationship as seriously as he apparently does his commitment to his team he wouldn’t be in this situation. So typical.
It’s too bad that you haven’t seen the entire film.
It’s about how both of them were to blame. That’s literally the message of the movie. Pride was their downfall.
I completely agree with you. Ive watched the entire movie and he just devalued and dismissed Brooke until she broke it off.
He was more committed to his video games than the woman who gave him her all. Sad reality.
@Augusto_Pinochet she's to blame only for trying too hard to have a relationship with a man that didn't deserve her
U judging for one scene in a fictional thing resembles reality but reality is even worse
Since you apparently have all the answers tell me this: Why would he WANT to do the dishes?
The problem here is that she has not realized she can't turn him into the man he is not, she's getting there and that's how she's finally able to let go at the end.
*Brooke: "Why do you look confused??" I Love 💓💞💕Jennifer Aniston's depth. She embodies every character.*
*@**2:57** I love how Brooke grabs the team bench and looks back at Gary to see if Gary is really leaving.* 🤣
With "friends" like these who would even need enemies.
"Maybe you should go play some pinball" LMFAOOOO
*Brooke: "Since you and I are no longer a couple because you have chosen not to participate constructively in our relationship, we're now singles." Love, how Brooke broke it down in the simplest terms, politely. I think a lot can be learned from Brooke as far as cadence and timing.*
Yeah I always find myself learning and taking things from certain characters I see all TV shows or movies if they handle this situation well or just engaging with people in general..
Is not a bad idea if you do it with the right perspective in mind 😊
Wooow women are legitimatly terrible people. "Im going to destroy something a man loves so he'll see hes nothing without me" no wonder you're single.
“Band of Brothers”, you should rent it sometime.
"what's up, castro?"
when you want no more to do with your c*** of a girlfriend, it means she's boring
Lol
@@benjenkins5949 it doesnt mean she's boring, just not meant to be together and break up
I have used that line so many times with my friends, when trying to get them to go out in the evening, but they insist that they have to work in the morning.
I'm gonna have to request that I have my wrist guard back then.
"I hope your wrist snaps" LOL
@@AndrewsArchives Good luck riding Ms. Gutterball to the Finals 🤣
Honestly her train of thought was crazy but she should’ve just let him go period. He was selfish
Yup. And too impressed with his own BMOC schtick. 24/7 taking the Party Dude pose, never unguarded with her. Not someone to grow old with.
its called a movie dipshit! had that of happened there wouldn't have been a movie called "The Break-Up". Women get offended even with factitious entertainment that they probably dragged their boyfriend to go see in the movie theatre back in 2006. (YOU ARE A KAREN!)
Sure he was selfish, but this was the most insane/manipulative thought process ever.
She was acting so immature throughout the film. Playing mind games, turning his friends against him, attention seeking behavior (walking naked), all of this to let him know that he wasn't being appreciative of her? How childish can she be? You can just tell him, and if he does not change, leave him. I mean this is not rocket science, but apparently her character never really matured from a teenage girl.
This movie makes the guy look bad the whole movie. While making the girl look like she was right the whole time. I saw the different.
Peter Billingsley is the director of the movie “Couples Retreat.”
From the bowling to rubbing his nose in her dates while still living together to the concert invite, she was really heavy handed. What did she expect? That he was just going to take it? To beg? Unintended consequences.
Wow her train of thought at the end is veering toward sadistic...she's plotting his misery in attempt to manipulate an emotional response.
Love your choice a words to convey your thought ☺️🤙 .. ironically enough is almost as good as Jennifer Aniston's in this particular clip when she was describing the point of going through all of this😅..
*Addie: "Yeah,." "That was AWESOME." "You just had your ex-boyfriend WHO YOU WISH YOU WERE STILL DATING, voted off the bowling team."*
Childish manipulation and mind games don't work; even if she got her way she wouldn't be happy.
I've been in situations like this; and to be 100% it does turn into an epiphany... and I changed for myself, and sadly she hated it.
Trouble is in the movie he acts like a child 24/7.. It is all about him and only him. He is lazy, spoiled and entitled..
@@dbreiden83080 I've seen the movie, only explaining one side, and a biased interpretation at that doesn't do it justice.
Quick question, isn't mind games, trying to incite jealousy, and manipulation isn't childish? Selfish? Everything you claimed he was?
It goes both ways, and like I said even if she got her way she would never ever be happy anyways...I have real world experience with this, do you?
@@habsfan8768
Please let’s not be ridiculous and start comparing resumes over a movie. First of all it’s a terrible film. Secondly it does display dysfunction you often see in real world relationships. Because he’s a very flawed man that she’s trying to fix. She knows deep down the relationship won’t work because they are incompatible. But she wants to try and fix him anyway. Basically he’s an asshole who wants to have a girlfriend but still live a single life. That’s why he’s messy, refuses to do any housework, plays video games all day etc. And she’s trying to mold him into the perfect little boyfriend. Doomed to fail..
@@dbreiden83080 I don't care about comparing resumes... you didn't answer any of my questions...
Doomed to fail because they are both childish and selfish I'd say... it is what it is.
U become the man , she wants. She loses interest.
If I write this scene I make him instantly try to join the team playing against them and they say "sure we can use another player cool"and he sits right back down and gets handed a new shirt from them.
Yeah cause you are probably a woman hater
Awesome..I agree
Why would a team already in the league just have an open spot?
@@Ben-gb9dv true. But it would be funny if a player from another team (let's say on the next lane over) trips or something and can't continue and they call Gary over to join them...and of course he taunts his old team. (Even though he is a real jerk it could be funny)
And everybody clapped.
In a way they belong together. At least they'd only make two people miserable instead of four.
very well said..🤣🤣
When he leaves without the shirt..... 😅
*Totally watching, The Break Up tonight!!* 💞💕
Lmao. Ya'll ladies are too prideful. Thats why you're single.
That’s the guy from A Christmas Story. 😂
I just caught that! 👏🏻😆
I’d never even noticed that until these comments. And saw it immediately!

I would have told my lady I don’t agree with this Bay!! I’m not taking sides in this now Cut It Out lol

@@stevenwinterhill6647 I know right
Another toxic relationship. Trying to force a man into sadness to be the 'hero' to fix it all up.
1. You dont want to be in a relationship with a broken down guy
2. if your relationship is based on you being the glue, it's a stty relationship
Communication.
It was wild how this relationship disintegrated while actually trying to be salvaged… and then Brooke buying the two beers at the concert…
But, the giveaway had to be that she had to leave the ticket at will call. Right? How many events did they attend, leaving their home separately?
2:00........... 💎GreatMovie 😂🔥⚡💯
Whats wrong castro? Castro?
I want my entire league fee back, right now!
Bowling Scene, Bowling Green
Man, the way she humiliated him. 🤮
Why did he even show up they broke up and they are HER friends lol
But… they were her friends 🤣 why would he confidently show up to bowl with a girlfriend he’s on bad terms with, that he’s not even trying to fix, to be her bowling partner in a bowling team full of her friends🤣 the absolute arrogance and confidence. Sure, her way of thinking is far off but she’s hurting and she wants him to make an effort for once
@@samerdrich5579 I don’t know if we watched the same movie but they were both equally immature as hell, however she voiced how she felt. what did he do that was mature to show he listened to her feelings? Nothing, he decided to play mind games just as much as her. In my opinion her walking out there naked was her just being cute, if he had of gotten up and made a move in the kitchen I’m sure they would have made up in a few ways there. I don’t think it’s as easy as “leave” when there’s a home, shared bills, etc involved, why didn’t he just leave? He had the option aswell just as much as her. In the end she invites him to the ballet, in what world would someone look at that and think ok my partner is trying… let’s not show up 🤦🏻♀️ she tried and he couldn’t look past his immaturity to see that. Which is why he’s the one to try and organise a dinner with her, but she had finally had enough 🤦🏻♀️
@@Bella-sh6gn see, what you don't understand, is that when a man makes a commitment to a bowling team, he honors that commitment
Gary is 100% correct here.
That's why he is not on team, lol. To win argument with ex is automatically expulsion from the team
lack of foresight, if she still wanted to be with him, she could have made the game fun, brought gary closer and worked through it.
Gary was right.
I like crazy 😇 makes things interesting.
Only thing u can change in a man is his diapers

This was a stupid plan in Brooke’s part. But then, wanting to get back together at all was a stupid thing on Brooke’s part, so…
That true, she a miserable spoiled child and hes too cool for her.

Good on Brooke for showing Gary that she is not a doormat, although I did feel sorry for having to leave the bowling alley topless.
A doormat? How? He just wanted to bowl she doesn't own the team. The women literally forced their boyfriends to vote him off the team under theat of making their lives miserable. Women are terrible spoiled selfish people.🙄
Is this a good movie?
Really funny, vince vaughn wont let u down
The Break Up is a very underrated movie that went over most peoples heads.
Yes
No
Yes it is!
I loved Aniston in this scene. She was fantastic. She ruined his life.😂
She being petty she thinks because she has emotions it’s ok to exclude her ex partner from a circle of friends he may really need right now
She's being immature by wanting to get back together with him. She should just get out, cut off ties and stay away from him. They're her friend group, not his.
Best part in the movie is when Vince takes his shirt off, the rest of the movie is crap
Not true though
to be COMPLETELY honest romantically at 2:54 i did do and/or probably will SOMEWHAT like the female on the left because of her SEMI attractive face and i did do and/or probably will SOMEWHAT like jennifer aniston because of her REALLY attractive face

I agreed with Brooke's reasoning but I HATED her in this scene. She was cruel and callous. This should've been a discussion done in the privacy of their home, not done to humiliate and ridicule him in front of her friends. It's very ugly. I dislike Gary's selfish ways, but Brooke was VERY ugly in this scene and it made me strongly dislike her. If she sat on top of the high horse, and make this same point privately, I would've liked her a lot more. I know too many women like her and I hate it.
You should not care about gaylywood is pure brainwashing boycott modern movies. Also, if you are blonde and got blue eyes you should marrie someone like that to have blue eyed blonde babies cause its very rare
Nah, she just showed her true colors.
Everybody is great when there are no problems or obstacles. It's easy. Real character of a person is exposed when he / she is facing problems.
TEAM GARY! she was so petty! Trying to get him back and kicked him off the team! Playing games!
Then don’t become a disrespectful, selfish and entitled prick.
That was the worst thing she could do, if in the future they wanna be back together
OK yes he is immature and lazy but she was being like the jealous popular girl manipulating all her friends around her to turn against somebody. That’s childish behavior
she was s wrong about this,,,,,,, she is the one end up crying and loosing
Women logic has to the worst. You knew buddy was like that when you met him, now you want to change him. Fak atta heer
You’ve obviously never been in a relationship. 😂😂 When people start dating, they only show the best of themselves but now that they have moved in together and have been in a relationship for awhile, he got too lazy and entitled and selfish. Yeah, get the fuck outta here.
Change for becoming a better person, not for being right in every situation, nobody likes that behavior.

Well she did ask for 12 lemons and he only got 3. I'd say that was a pretty direct request.
