The scene where Rayner brings up the "Never turn your back on a breen" statement and the president immediately calls him a racist then michael kicks him out of the meeting is the most-nutrek thing ever. Years from now when nutrek is a distant memory and the franchise is temporarily dead for another decade or two, this will be the scene i remember whenever i think of nutrek. What a nutrek thing to do, bring up a classic quote from DS9 then bitch about how racist it is and proceed to get your ass kicked by the breen over and over and over again only to barely survive due to your lvl99 legendary plot armor.
It's going to be remembered the same way as The Star Wars Holiday Special. A "Can you believe they did this?". But worse, since they didn't keep making Star Wars Holiday Specials for years.
Also at least the holiday specials have the valid excuse that basically everyone involved was nose deep in cocaine at the time... Discovery's writers are just nose deep in outdated repackaged Progressive ideology, and not even the GOOD type of Progressive ideology (IE they are "social justice warriors" instead of actual technocrats).

I feel you. I remember me and my family all being super excited when Discovery was announced and when they showed the teaser with the ship and the day the show premiered we were so hyped... Well... Let's just say we barely wanted to finish the first season by the end of it...
I still can't believe how they dragged teh corpse of the Batwoman show around for as long as they did. I'm expecting them to say "Good news everybody!" and announce they're dragging this cadaver around too.

i cant even understand what the other breen is saying. am i supposed to be able to understand it? plus how is he talking to michael secretly while talking into the helmet, without the helmet just repeating what he was saying in breen. which....why is the helmet even doing that? only breen wear the helmets so they would be talking breen already. or is that supposed to be the universal translator translating it into breen and then the helmet is adding a stupid robot voice distortion? ...this scene is so stupid. Why would he even try to distract the breen by asking him out... that's so weird... like this breen person doesn't even know who he is, never seen his face, never spoke to him before, they don't know each other at all. Seriously, wtf is this scene?

they were never supposed to be understood. DS9 always had to use cheesy phrasing with replies, so the audience got the context of the bloops and bleeps their helmets make to "talk"
Even George Takei complained about the JJ movies turning Sulu gay, saying, "Takei is gay. Sulu is not." They couldn't use their usual "you're a bigot" tactics, since calling George Takei a homophobe would be too ridiculous, even for them.
I thought the Book flirting with breen scene was pretty funny until he said it was getting weird. That took me out of it. It's like the writers couldn't actually make a humorous gay bait flirting scene, so they just said it's weird to be gay? Book is a proud straight I guess... In the show of maximum inclusion + feelings. They can't play on something that had potential to be hilarious, for a plot moving distraction by book.
