This entire show was a poorly disguised money laundering operation. The opening credits have at least 40 producers.

Do the opening credits still have the discount Game of Thrones music they had in season 1? I haven't watched since season 1 and immediately heard the GoT intro music ripoff hidden under the vague "Star Trek" music.

I believe the full Romulan saying is 'Never turn your back on a Breen... Unless you're into that. And then we're calling the Tal'Shiar'. Which is a bit of a mouthful, same as what tends to happen when you *dont* turn your back on a Breen.

The scene where Rayner brings up the "Never turn your back on a breen" statement and the president immediately calls him a racist then michael kicks him out of the meeting is the most-nutrek thing ever. Years from now when nutrek is a distant memory and the franchise is temporarily dead for another decade or two, this will be the scene i remember whenever i think of nutrek.
What a nutrek thing to do, bring up a classic quote from DS9 then bitch about how racist it is and proceed to get your ass kicked by the breen over and over and over again only to barely survive due to your lvl99 legendary plot armor.

It's going to be remembered the same way as The Star Wars Holiday Special. A "Can you believe they did this?". But worse, since they didn't keep making Star Wars Holiday Specials for years.

Also at least the holiday specials have the valid excuse that basically everyone involved was nose deep in cocaine at the time...

The mission of the writer was to watch DS9 for any possible examples of bigotry and correct it.

The fact they think we (the audience) constantly need “teaching” is so patronising and condescending. They love to speak down to the audience. The last people we should be looking to for education are Hollywood activist-writers with no life experience who’ve never ventured out of La La Land.

Castigating someone for making a remark like that is not a morality play. It's being a smartass or annoying. Discovery has no morality plays. It is a series of soap opera and stupid action episodes. What is the morality play of Burnham jumping on top of a spaceship and acting like Spider-Man? What is the morality play of Burnham asking Book if he wants to be in an oil bath?
What is the morality play of T'Rina crying over Saru going on a mission? What is the morality play of Tilly insulting Raynor because he's walking around the bridge? What is the morality play of Discovery bashing into the Breen ship? What is the morality play of Moll selling information on technology in a post-scarcity society?

i cant even understand what the other breen is saying. am i supposed to be able to understand it?
plus how is he talking to michael secretly while talking into the helmet, without the helmet just repeating what he was saying in breen. which....why is the helmet even doing that? only breen wear the helmets so they would be talking breen already. or is that supposed to be the universal translator translating it into breen and then the helmet is adding a stupid robot voice distortion? ...this scene is so stupid.
Why would he even try to distract the breen by asking him out... that's so weird... like this breen person doesn't even know who he is, never seen his face, never spoke to him before, they don't know each other at all. Seriously, wtf is this scene?

I thought the Book flirting with breen scene was pretty funny until he said it was getting weird. That took me out of it. It's like the writers couldn't actually make a humorous gay bait flirting scene, so they just said it's weird to be gay? Book is a proud straight I guess... In the show of maximum inclusion + feelings. They can't play on something that had potential to be hilarious, for a plot moving distraction by book.
