Volantex Phoenix 1600 Motor Failure & Maiden

If you have just got a Volantex Phoenix 1600 / 2000 then be aware. The latest motor fitted to this model is utter crap.
Maiden flight the motor over heated! infact it was so hot it melted the motor mount. Bring back the larger size bell motor! this new one is utter crap!

mine did that too twice till i learned to change the motor. now it flies great, finally.

put a 28-30 or 28-35 in it 1000 to 1200 kv... prop down a little and you will have a great plane... also add scoops to air intakes to help keep motor,esc and batts cooler...

s2 motor with s3 battery, that's to be expected.

Very frustrating scenario... I have just purchased the Phoenix 2000 but not yet got the electrics. I would prefer to paint it as you have, what paint did you use and have you any tips?

yep the wires hit with the bigger bell motor but worked ok otherwise.

Know how you feel, happened to me on my first flight, but I heard mine and could smell on a near pass. Never again cared to fly it.
