@derkommissar1917; Yeah he was exausted, like when Spinks was exausted against Qawi and Qawi mocked Spinks relentlessly, cruelly. But Spinks acquited himself like a man and stayed in the fight as long as he could, Qawi quit because he is a spineless bully.
I saw Foreman knock out five bums in one day in a row. Back to back beatdowns. No one has ever done that in history. Here he beats down the dangerous Dwight Muhammad Qawi. He had a great jab and awesome body shots. Qawi just QUIT. No MAAS. BIG GEORGE.
takes real balls to get in with a guy like foreman (well there isnt anybody like foreman but you get the idea) foreman also looks in very good shape here what weight was he?
Entertaining fight! Really entertaining! Entertaining heavyweight boxing matches from back in the good old days. Do you remember how exciting it used to be? (Vitali, Vladimir: I'm talking to you) Great performance from Qawi, but he really was up against the odds here. If you can't box going backwards, then you're in BIG trouble if you're in with George Foreman. Thanks for uploading fagiu.
Yes he was, knocked Michael Spinks down in their title match, but it was Spinks and his tremendous heart that got him back up to beat Qawi into a pulp for the rest of the 15 rounds that fight was.
I give Qawi a lot of credit because the fight was close and it just look like he was tired and didn't want to continue . I think most would agree a prime Foreman at 25 would have stopped him in 1 or 2 rounds . Too bad we never saw Prime Foreman VS Earnie Shavers or Jerry Quarry . Many felt Foreman ducked Quarry and that Shavers right would put Foreman down like Holmes , but I think George would weather the storm and come out the winner .
Its his sheer size and strength, plus the name that terrifies his opponents. I tell you, if Qawi had the same size and reach, Foreman wouldnt last long here. In my opinion Big George is slightly overrated. He is nothing but a power puncher. No finesse, no true skill. But what a power he possesses!
@derkommissar1917; You are wrong. Qawi fought Leon Spinks for the WBA Cruiserweight title and Spinks had shed weight to get down for the fight. Spinks was weakened as the commentators even prior to the fight pointed out and Qawi waited until the later rounds when Spinks was badly busted up and too tired to fight before commencing his bullying. Spinks was in more danger of being badly injured because of his state but he didn't turn away. Get your facts right.
George Foreman's defence is the cross arm defence it was designed by the great Archie Moore who was his trainer . Thats what made George the king of the puncher's is his ability to take shots not to mention his punching power . Combination of both power and chin is hard to beat .
This reminded me of Foreman-Frazier. George had the template to take out Quawi. However consider Quawi was a natural cruiserweight and on the downside of his career, this was fairly good showing that he went 6 rounds with Big George. It also makes Holyfield’s tough victory over Quawi more impressive.
I know this reply is 9 years late, but I agree. The young George would have never let up. Faking going down could have been fatal. Also, Qawi would probably been gone in round 1, or 2, leading with his head, like Frazier.
Foreman had no defence when he was young and destroyed most of his opponents inside 2-3 rounds, blocking their shots with his hard chin. In his comeback he adopted Moore's cross-armed defence, a clear improvement but that wasn't what made him the king of the punchers: it was raw power, chin, heart, guts, determination etc
I was watching this fight back then....I remember Qwawi saying that he had a headache from Forman's punches early in the fight and it just kept getting worse, he said it felt like his head was going to explode.
@michaelyouth the person i was talking to wasnt refering to a 10 count ko, he was refering to an out cold KTFO, or didnt you read the other persons comment.
Foreman was in great shape for this fight, said it was because of Qawi and his relentless attack that he looked so tired. Also keep in mind that this is the same light heavyweight Qawi. The one who got battered all around the ring by Michael Spinks. Remember that Qawi wasn't that far behind Foreman in age! Great effort.
Ps it's like Mr Quawi has to climb a mountain to get to George 🥰❤️🖤💚 how dare Mr Quawi want to quit after I seen him punch people till they practically went to sleep 😭
That "faint" from Qawi was really dirty tactics. Foreman could have easily smashed him with a hayemaker but he chose not to then Qawi came back with a sucker punch as george starts to walk away.
Foreman should have came in at this weight against holyfeild.he also should have fought this style instead of the cross arm defense had he done that he may have knocked out holyfeild.
Foreman said after this fight that he lost too much weight and had low energy, so he gained weight afterwards. People joked about his weight but he did it by design, not because he was unable to do it or was undisciplined.
this was a pretty in shape coming-back foreman too, look at foreman when he fought holyfield, he was all fat and bloated. i mean, hes not a prime foreman, but hes a prime 2nd-time comeback foreman. props to qawi
I remember watching this fight over 20 years ago. Qawi (222) was carrying about 30 pounds more than he was used to; he'd been fighting at cruiser and he was a natural light heavy. He was just exhausted, you could see him sucking wind. If he hadn't quit, Foreman would have knocked him out before long. Qawi didn't fight over 200 pounds again for another nine years. If you really want to see what Qawi was, watch his first fight with Holyfield.
folks don't realize that George also had one of the best chins inthe game 'cause Qawi was tagging him. ali used scientific boxing to knock him out, pure genius to topple that mountain
I don't agree. Foreman was a much more exciting fighter in his youth. Maybe because he didn't try to be so technical. When he came back he became such a boring fighter. One could fall asleep watching his fights. He swung around, trying to appear technical and looked like little more than a lumbering, drunk bear fumbling around.
Not the "SeeFood diet" version of George here! Very svelt and in shape. Formean has always done very well against crouching fighters. Foreman ranks very high on the best ever, as he may have had the right stuff to beat two other all time great heavys, Marciano and Tyson. I think the post retirment George, may have actually been better in a lot of ways, than the younger more wild one.
@TxREX1991; Are you nuts, and you get 11 thumbs up (till I deduct one). Qawi quit and I just came straight from watching him mocking Leon Spinks when Spinks was weight weakened and already beaten badly on the ropes with nothing but guts left. What kind of fighter mocks a man like that? Qawi, the bully, Qawi the coward.
I had no idea these two ever fought but that being said they should never have fought because Dwight Braxton as a light-heavyweight was one of the all-time greats I never knew he moved up to heavyweight but he was probably average-at-best
@scottmc316 Qawi was tailored made for George Foreman, Qawi was leading with his head the whole bout like a Joe Frazier, he had no chance in this fight... Some refs let you push more than others, ill agree this ref was very poor
In fact I rate Champs like Larry Holmes much higher, cause he kept the title for a longer time. You could rely on him that he would win the fights..with George, it was a tossup each time (after Ali)
if Foreman would have stayed at this trim weight I bet he would have been champ for quite awhile after the Moorer fight. Qawi, what a tough little sucker he was.
@treetoptop PRIME FOREMAN AGAINST PRIME TYSON?WHO KNOWS?I PUT FOREMAN AHEAD ,TYSON HAD NO GOOD FIGHTS AFTER 1990,BUT HE WAS OUR TENNAGER IDOL IN 1985-1990
pound for pound of course floyd is better than vitali, much much better, boxing is a sweet science, and if you see who the best of all time was, it was Ali, had speed grace, tecnique, power footwork, etc./so Floyd is more in that pattern and boxingwise yes he is the best, Klit is a great heavyweight for his time but his time is a sorry time with no competition, and vitali is so dam big its almost unfair, pacman has to be there for a more pleasing style than floyd but boxingwise floyd is P4p King
@scottmc316 Frazier was the wrong style to fight Foreman and always would be. Foreman was shrewd in his comeback and Qawi was hand-picked for this match, I think.
i thought carlos padilla was a good ref but i change my mind now, and the obvious knockdown by foreman with 15 seconds to go in round 6 where quawi falls into the ropes is an automatic 8count, and padilla waved it on, very bad reffing job there.
@lee1990lee --shavers had the hardest one punch I've ever seen but George overall was the harder puncher---he would club opponents to death. also had much stronger chin than Shavers
@NextWorldApparel ---I dont know about that---an over the hill Ali knocked him down, as did light hitting Jimmy Young. Remember, Dwight was a lt heavyweight for much of his career. This is a mismatch
@tom11zz884 then why did George ever so carefully pick his opponents in his so called comeback which began around this time? Did he fight Holmes? Holyfield? Tyson? He could beat the guys he fought because he was so much more powerful, as wel las larger.
Great example of the stupidity and danger of boxing. Guy gets booed for quitting when he clearly had nothing left and had every right to quit. He did the intelligent thing instead of getting brain damage but the crowd wanted him to get brain damage? In MMA you can quit anytime and it is OK. But boxing has this macho Kamakazi thing (code) going on.
Guy below says 'this fight shows that a prime time Tyson would have beat Foreman in my opinion. Qawi was like Tyson Jr' I understand that people are delusional when it comes to young Tyson, but if you think Tyson had Qawi's chin, you are dreaming. Tyson's people knew it and ducked OLD George-they knew he had nothing to gain in a fight with George-even if you win you beat an old man If Tyson inc was afraid of old George...young George...you get the idea...
if Foreman wasn't allowed to consistently push his opponents away, something referees were always far too kind with him, he'd possibly be in deep shit with this style of fighter, and it would be the same with Joe Frazier. Watch anytime Qawi comes close, he literally shoves him. Say what you like, its an illegal tactic he constantly gets away with.
Qawi was brave but he hit foreman with everything he had and never had him in danger or wobbled big george so it was pointless continuing in a no win situation when your spent and can barely put your gloves up
@Maxshard What Qawi did against Spinks was unprofessional, and he should have been embarrassed with himself. But there's no such thing as a "bully" or a "coward" in world-class pro boxing. Qawi quit in this fight because he was at a point he could have gotten hurt badly, and he knew it. Leon Spinks, when he fought Qawi, wasn't fighting 30 pounds above his natural weight. He just hadn't trained properly. What Qawi did was disgraceful--but so was Spinks showing up in such poor condition.
@brianthenamless Who do you mean? Qawi? I agree, of course - but that's not a knock on Qawi - he was waaay past his prime here, and he had no business fighting at Heavyweight - his prime was 5 years earlier at 175lbs.
foreman was big waste of blubber in his comeback. He never faced tyson of 88,bowe of 92,lewis of 95-02,he lost to holyfield and morrison.Moorer was paid off to take the shot and dive.1973-74 foreman was a different story.
I wish Foreman were this trim when he fought Holyfield.
George in his prime would knock both the klitschko brothas out bottom line!!!
This fight looks awfully a lot like the Foreman vs Frazier fight back in 1973 or 1976!!!
You took the words right out of my mouth! Both these guys Frazier & Muhammad are built for Foreman's style!
Foreman was a lot less aggressive. He could’ve ended it rounds ago if he threw some harder shots and more uppercuts
Foreman looks in incredible shape for this fight, almost no sign at all of the middle-age spread we saw later in his comeback.
Wow, Foreman was actually in good shape for this fight. I wonder how he would have done if he was fit like this for his whole second comeback.
@ScottInVa1760 Right. He was only 235 here! Similar to his 70's weight.
Qawi was good
but u r the best George
Man Foreman took tons of bombs in his fights. Not much defense at all to speak of. Yet he kept taking them and walking right through them
WTF!!?? i never knew these guys fought!
This is my first time knowing about Mr Quawi he was something but my man George handled it like a champ🥰❤️🖤💚
@derkommissar1917; Yeah he was exausted, like when Spinks was exausted against Qawi and Qawi mocked Spinks relentlessly, cruelly. But Spinks acquited himself like a man and stayed in the fight as long as he could, Qawi quit because he is a spineless bully.

foreman also looks in very good shape here what weight was he?
The Camden Buzzsaw was one of my favs
Dwight amazing only 5.5 ft and lasted 7 rounds againest one of the hardest punchers of all time
Was beating him on the cards
Entertaining fight! Really entertaining!
Entertaining heavyweight boxing matches from back in the good old days. Do you remember how exciting it used to be? (Vitali, Vladimir: I'm talking to you)

what the hell was that? What an insanely risky move by Qawi. Never seen anything like it especially against THE premier head hunter
I know this reply is 9 years late, but I agree. The young George would have never let up. Faking going down could have been fatal. Also, Qawi would probably been gone in round 1, or 2, leading with his head, like Frazier.

The guy literally got bored of punching George foreman 😂😂...
@wety77 funny george was counted out once NEVER knocked out.
Ps it's like Mr Quawi has to climb a mountain to get to George 🥰❤️🖤💚 how dare Mr Quawi want to quit after I seen him punch people till they practically went to sleep 😭
them big ole 20 inch guns on Foreman, he's an awesome specimen
Qawi, once he said him safe he doesn't want to to get hurt,so he didn't want into heavy weigh, don't know why he went into heavy weigh 😢
Who do you think......???? Prime on prime two rounds, tops. Today VK on points.
Qawi said: its true that fatigue makes cowards of us all
That "faint" from Qawi was really dirty tactics. Foreman could have easily smashed him with a hayemaker but he chose not to then Qawi came back with a sucker punch as george starts to walk away.
Two of my favorite fighters. George Foreman and Dwight Braxton. I liked Braxton better as a light-heavy.
Foreman should have came in at this weight against holyfeild.he also should have fought this style instead of the cross arm defense had he done that he may have knocked out holyfeild.

@TxREX1991 this bout reminds me of Frazier vs. Foreman
Qawi was tough as nails. Watch him when he was a young lightheavyweight and cruiserweight. He was a bruiser then.
folks don't realize that George also had one of the best chins inthe game 'cause Qawi was tagging him. ali used scientific boxing to knock him out, pure genius to topple that mountain

Prime Foreman, was over in two rounds with quawi
isnt this the guy that holyfield fought as a cruiserweight?
Skuxx yes and beat the crap out of.
Rene Morelli not really in their first fight..That fight was grear
They fought twice
SOMETHING YOU AIN'T MRTVMAN!
what Qawi did, is an old school boxing trick.
In fact I rate Champs like Larry Holmes much higher, cause he kept the title for a longer time. You could rely on him that he would win the fights..with George, it was a tossup each time (after Ali)
foreman had one of the best chins in the history of boxing
Foreman in his prime destroys Tyson in his prime. Mike is made to order for George.
Foreman the best 😁
this foreman was a big tomato can with awsome power.
Qawi was very tough indeed..
Wish his fights with Matthew Saad Muhammad were posted...He gave him a beating
Yes Foreman was very impression and Ithink personally that he is one of that GOATS..right ow I'm comparing result to result though..
Qawi had no chance of winning, but it's disappointing seeing someone quit like that. At least quit on your stool instead of in the middle of round
lol
this George Foreman would have defeated Holyfield
Loool...my man walked away at the end...lol
BIG GEORGE WAS A BEAST!🥊🥊
Yeah I guess I'm talking more about the basic code of ethics. In boxing it is considered an unthinkable disgrace to quit.
Dwight was smart to get out before he suffered sever damage
Dwight was 5 foot 6
Muhammad was smallest heavyweight ,but he was tuff Cookie 👌👌
if Foreman would have stayed at this trim weight I bet he would have been champ for quite awhile after the Moorer fight. Qawi, what a tough little sucker he was.
Me neither.. Got nothing but respect for qawi
Two round better than whole may weather carrer
Foreman could knock you out with his jab.
I bet he'd still be competitive in this pathetic era of "super"heavyweights.
Почему бой остановили...
Sorry about the typos im in a hurry lol..well no doubt GF was a great fighter.
@wety77 "easily" ?... no one could have "easily" knocked out Foreman. He was a beast.

He's 5'5 and fighting george motherfucking foreman bruh

Is there supposed to be no sound or is my speaker fuking up?
@BringerOfTheTruth Ali lost to Jimmy Young also. But the judges gave the decision to Ali.
@treetoptop good comment ,i was thinking the same thing
