That guy can say he went 12 rounds with George Foreman. Even if George was 95 years old I wouldn't get into the ring with him for five seconds. Well, maybe I would, but I'd spend all of it running.
114-113 Big Foreman. Dead even after the point deduction. Honesty I feel more than generous for Savarese giving him 5,6,7, and 8 when George may have won 1-2 of them. Not a robbery. Good fight. Foreman definitely did more damage. Foreman Savarese 1 9 10 2 10 9 3 9 10 4 10 9 5 9 10 6 9 10 7 9 10 8 9 10 9 10 9 10 10 9 11 10 8 12 10 9
crosbyyacht: Good observation! I just saw this video and that struck me as well. One wonders whether Saverese was hitting low throughout the fight as he did several times in the last round and Foreman was irate about it. I’ll watch the full fight to try to determine whether something during the course of the fight generate Foreman’s ire.
Fair decision. Eventhou Saverese ccored well in the middles, George cearly dominated the fight, particularly the two last rounds. Big George hit harder and actual punches to the face of Saverese. That is the reason why two judges scored in favour of Foreman.
But when sarvesse fought wild mike it didn't last that long..wild mike actually chase him in the ring throwing the referee out that way. Like a pitbull wild Mike couldn't stop.that was funny too me
How someone like Savarese and Stewart went to full 12 rounds against Holyfield and Foreman? , they lasted few secs against Mike... and Mike also way pass his prime when he beat Saverese.
Vic Rattlehead #! Tyson still had enough speed and speed is power. Secondly, he was able to bully Lou. He was scared and Tyson jumped on that. As he always did.
Vic Rattlehead YES,great question (I began to make a similar comment, however, now I'll just respond to yours.)! As a former sparring partner of both Stewart & Savarese(and,a month preparing Michael Spinks), I think I have the answer. ALL THREE of these men were tough, and each could take a "beat-down", yet still, follow it up with a strong comeback. The problem was psychological - each were intimidated. Somehow the "TYSON MYSTIQUE " had them thinking, "I CAN'T BEAT THIS GUY"; and that, was 'the beginning of the end'; BEFORE each ever stepped into the ring with Iron Mike. LOU SAVARESE(although I recall as the strongest/most durable fighter I ever boxed) did NOT go down from an actual punch vs Tyson. Actually in the video you can see, the ('phantom')punch missed and Lou was hit harder by "Iron Mike" WHEN HE GOT UP FROM THE CANVAS! Meanwhile, upon challenging Foreman,Lou saw an opportunity to be victorious over a lumbering 'used-to-be' that that he could very probably outbox, while possibly hurting along the way(EVIDENCED by "Big George"sunglasses over a watermelon battered head).
UR forgeting Douglas he got off the canvas to knock him out. Your right about the training though if Tyson had the same attitude to training and lifestyle as say Evander Holyfield or Rocky Marciano he could have achieved so much more
Savarese was tough but needed a top notch trainer. Cooney had more body shots but was knocked out by big George.Yet remarkably Savarese went the distance. I think Tyson was lucky the referee stopped their fight premature.
hahaha I don't think so, if you see well the fight between Mike Tyson and the savages, when he starts hitting the savages he cannot defend himself, so the referee had to stop the fight, the one who was lucky was wild because if not Mike Tyson killed him
Foreman was 48 and Savages was undefeated. He never recovered from this loss. Sometimes, undefeated fighters lose their confidence and never get it back after losing. Boxing is 90% mental and 10% physical.
What kind of scoring is that? 114-113 Savarese one judge 118-110 Foreman another judge. One of those cards had either a 10-8 round, or deducted points unofficially. Not sure how one judge can see a man win two rounds, and another see him win 7 rounds. Also, a yappy and interfering judge. I hate when they order fighters to stop punching, but then don't step in for a break. the honest fighter always ends up getting clocked a dirty blow, half the time while the ref is holding that fighters arm, or swatting it from defending against the other guy's clinching and rabbit punching. You see it all over this fight.
he was a very good boxer just not as good as he thinks he was imo. ps joe frazier broke his ribs when aprring with him i think before the foreman fight. joe figured he could do the same to george
@capablemachine , I agree. Holmes was just a lucky ex- sparring partner that excelled in a weak division from 1978-85. He slated all other champions, yet he never fought Foreman, and we all know what Tyson did to him.
Foreman had more knock out power and he was slower than tyson but had more reach than tyson, had more endurance and stamina than tyson and hell tyson was a fucking brawler who could last 1-4rounds in most of his fights and he has nvr got up when KD in a fight while foreman when KD has gotten up and won some of his fights!
Tyson was no LEGEND tyson didn't like to box and have the passion to fight like Foreman! Even after many years Foreman still had his power and the passion to fight!

@@nberrios777 Mike Tyson knocked him out in 15 seconds, I don't think it was due to lack of confidence, but because Mike Tyson started with everything and Savages couldn't keep all the shots.
Tyson was a first round fighter, a strong starter. George was 48 years old and a completely different fighter than his 24 year old self. 24 year old Foreman would have possibly killed Savarese.
Foreman still going full force in the 12th round at 48 years old is pretty astonishing.

@ZEROEVILDARKCOOL
George Foreman is like Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed combined.
How Lou stood up at 0:48 I'll never know...
Savarese almost knocked George out with his jaw to George's right hand lol.
Boy had no skills at all
George was toying with this fool

Savarese went to Foreman twice after the fight and Foreman wanted nothing to do with him. George was pissed about something.

I saw that too. What was he mad about?
Lou hit low quite a bit and also kept his head on George’s face a lot. Probably butted him.
geoege just got tired of getting whooped that's all

Al Devito wasn't a competent judge
George won but kudos to lous he is a tough guy goo. He took George's big shots and did not fall.
George enjoys his work

Young Foreman ate an opponent like that for breakfast.

Go back to Russia, commi.
Excellent
Savarese landed alot of his nose to George's gloves

WBU heavyweight champion George Foreman wins in fine style with a points
decision over Lou Savarse in the United States.
When you look at how Tyson destroyed this guy in like 30 seconds, George should have buried him in 3 rounds.
