This is why you can’t rely on comments to get a feel for a group’s opinion. I absolutely expected some bosses to have an equal amount of F’s and S’s, but that wasn’t the case at all. Most negative feedback comes from a small group whereas the majority who like the boss just don’t say anything because they’re satisfied.
Yeah that's a constant; you'll have people so content they won't even bother discussing the bosses or the DLC, and there's those that will do it for the fun of it (as pointless as it could be).
Messmer is a much better designed fight than bed of chaos, Ik many people like that fight but it just never clicked with me. Messmer does though and it’s great
I think Messmer's a little bit overhyped. I liked Midra better. I still think Messmer's at least A tier and I'm not mad that people really liked the fight. I thought it was a little over reliant on snakes going woosh overhead to disorient the player, and I don't like visual confusion in a boss, but it's pretty manageable and he's still a lot of fun. Since I got the Elden Lord ending, I was also very amused that I was rolling up as Marika's new consort and I'd like to believe that part of the reason Messmer hates us so much is that we are technically his new stepdad.
@@gamera5160 I don't think he's overhyped at all. His snake attacks looked so clear to me to a point where it was surprising. The one attack that is a little unclear is the assault where he sometimes ends up directly above you. I believe the reason he's so beloved is because he checks every box that makes a boss phenomenal. Fair difficuly, fun factor, design, animations, visual spectacle, lore, music. You name whatever criteria, Messmer excelles at it.
@@leo-shun I don’t have strong criticisms of Messmer. I just heard that he was the greatest fight ever and I was slightly mildly let down. He’s still really good. High A tier or low S tier for me, but I wasn’t blown away by him the way some people are.
@@gamera5160 I can understand that. He's not my favorite boss in the game either, but I can see tbe argument of him being the best boss in all Fromsoftware games.
I never thought I would see the day that morgott was placed above radahn. But yeah the lore behind Morgott combined with the fact that he is the only antagonist that you consistently have to deal with throughout the game (the two clones, the ghost Godfrey, and the nights cavalry) and his incredibly fluid fighting style makes him one of my fav bosses of all time. My top five are morgott midra placedusax malikath and Godfrey
Morgott really just needed more HP, then he probably would've been held to a higher regard by the community. You can't really appreciate how well design his fight is when it ends so damn quickly, sadly.
I wish consort radahn could be s tier but it doesn’t feel like he lets you take advantage of Elden rings combat options all that well, and obviously his double slash into cross swords is absolutely fucked
C tier boss imo. I hated how it felt like I'm not even playing Elden Ring when fighting this boss. All the other bosses I can use most builds and make them viable, but not against Radahn. Other bosses have aoes that you can jump over, but not with Radahn's hitboxes. But worst of all, I hated how Radahn was a dodge roll fest, it's like we downgraded back to DS3 with this boss. Very narrow punish windows and spamm roll to get single R1
@@Vengeance_I_m I agree with a lot of your points, however his moveset is so good I can mostly forgive him and probably put him in mid a tier. I do wish he had jumpable attacks, strafeable attacks, and he was less impossible to stagger, but his moveset is so solid I think he still makes it pretty high with all of these short comings
@@SacredWalrus Imo the only thing redeeming him is that he's quite fun with deflect hardtear or with shield parries. But I don't think this boss deserves anything higher than B tier, there's too much issues with this boss fight. I say that as someone who really loves Malenia. She's one of my favorite boss fights, I'd personally put her highest S tier, but I won't. Because I know that despite my bias, waterfowl dance is still a bullshit attack, even after I learnt to consistently dodge that attack. Same thing can be applied to Consort Radahn, I guys may love the boss fight, but you can't ignore the problems he has
@@Vengeance_I_m I think he’s a ton of fun to dance with just rolling as long as he doesn’t give you horrendous rng, but I can see why a lot of people don’t agree with that
@@SacredWalrus and also it's not always dancing. His meteor projectile on 2nd phase forces you to run away as fast as possible to avoid getting blendered by somersault phantom attack. His t-pose light AOE also forces you to run the f away. Another reason why I don't like this boss. I don't like bosses that force me to play cowardly or run away from attacks
I always wanted elden rings own version of midir and gael, and I finally got my wish with bayle and messmer. They are my two absolute favorite bosses in the whole series
Looking at this tier list, i am a certified Elden Ring glazer. I didn't think a single boss should be ranked lower then they were, but i thought many should have been higher.
@@epsilon1372 yeah there will at least be few people hating something that nearly everyone likes Nothing have 100% like cause of opinion and preferences
W take. Gaius is pretty decent once you learn him and it feels rewarding to have him completely down because he guards 5 scadutree fragments you're encouraged to get early
Yup, also if you know how to fight him you only ever get a tricky charge once per fight, right at the start. He can sometimes point blank charge you but its way easier to dodge since he has bad tracking when youre close. Hes quite simple actually, reminds me of a DS3 boss where you can just roll all his 1-3 hit combos and get a good punish off at the end. Hes like a high B for me, just as you said doesnt feel like a Remembrance at all, he is really like the Draconic Tree Sentinel, above a generic catacomb boss but below what one would consider "major boss". Also a shame about the recycled OST.
Idk why they felt the need to make Radahn that fast. He's so fast his character model can't even keep up with his animations. You can see in his Lion's Claw how his next attack starts even when his stomach is on the ground.
They need to make him artificially difficult so we don’t steam walk him. Should rework him into a slower tankier more damage when he hits you kind of boss lol
@@jober1905 Artificial difficulty doesn't mean anything it's a useless buzzword. There's no such thing as artificial difficulty. There's different types and levels of difficulty that appeal to different players for different reasons.
Thanks for including me twice and I’m glad to see my takes resonated with the community. Despite curse you Bayle becoming a core part of my vocabulary I am obliged to report igons alt account for hate speech… also well done on the best made community ranking video I’ve seen regardless of game, never stop. You’ve got a loyal community behind you. I’ve heard we appear as friendly summons if you utter the words, “oh subscribers, become my blade once more”
Messmer is one of the best boss fights ever, definitely top 5 in history of SoulsBorne genre, maybe on the same level with Gael if not better. To people who say he's too easy - guys, don't be hypocrites. If difficulty was the only category, Mohg, Malenia, Consort Radahn would be the best bosses by a huge margin.
Ngl, Bayle is underrated even mechanically. He finally refined what Midir and Placidusax couldn't, with a better frontal fight than Midir and spectacle attacks that actually work.
Midra in top 5 let's go! Also never thought that my silly comment would get featured at 38:48, regardless I am glad that many others share the love for Midra, despite his flaws
Fellow Midra-lover! I think dude is definitely S-tier. For sure he is not as complex mechanically as Messmer or Rellana. But he is thematic. His ethereal floaty moves fit so well a being ecstatic in chaos. Soundtrack echoes this. The buildup before the fight is so cool. These kinds of things together elevate the boss to become more than the sum of its parts. It's cohesive, thematic and I forget I'm even playing a videogame. I love shit like this.
Messmer is one of the only “perfect bosses.” Gael and Mohg come close but both of their fights lack complexity, while they are satisfying to fight, Messmer fills the void of a well developed and complex fight. Isshin is also great but not as good as the other 3 mentioned, and Friede is good but very flawed.
Im glad someone else noticed that combo you show at 17:27 not being punishable with any slower weapon. Drove me crazy on my second playthrough using a greatsword.
I decided to not vote because I was more interested in seeing everyone else's overall opinion. If I had voted, I would've given an S to Morgott, Malenia, Rellana, Bayle, Messmer and Promised Consort Radahn.
Im glad the community is slowly moving away from the standpoint that ER underdelivered in boss department. No other game I have played has boss quality this consistently good. And the any boss in top 10 would be magnum opus in basically any other game. Miyazaki has outdone even himself with this title. As for my ranking, it would gosomething like this: 26. Commander Gaius 25. Fire Giant 24. Ancestor Spirit 23. Scadutree Avatar 22. Rennala 21. Astel 20. Romina 19. Putrescent Knight 18. Lichdragon Fortissax 17. Metyr 16. Dragonlord Placidusax 15. Consort Radahn 14. Godrick the Grafted 13. Divine Beast 12. Rellana 11. Radagon + Beast 10. Rykard 9. Midra 8. Morgott 7. Maliketh 6. Malenia 5. Mohg 4. Bayle the Dread 3. Godfrey/Hoarah Loux 2. Starscourge Radahn 1. Messmer the Impaler
@Nrzpokrter fr, I'm so glad that the community finally got good and are appreciating elden rings bosses for the masterpieces they are. Same thing happened when DS3 and it's dlcs were still new (I still remember people shitting on darkeater midir for being "too hard"), and I can 100% guarantee that the community will follow the same cycle with the next big fromsoft game, since it most likely will have bosses with mechanics more advanced than even ER
It still has a long way to go, it's incredible how a part of the community that calls itself "Veteran" when they barely delve into these games, say that the bosses in DS3 or BB are better, when at this point they are simpler than a rattle. It doesn't enter my head as a FS fan to believe that the bosses in ER are bad because I didn't know how to understand them in my refusal to stop playing as if it were Dark Souls 3. But time is putting ER as the game with the best and incredible bosses, especially Radah Consort, very underrated.
@raydark100 "Veteran" in the souls community is synonymous with "boomer" lol. There's so many people who still refuse to use the jump button. To me, the whole essence of souls games is to learn, adapt and persevere, so it really boggles my mind when these so called "veterans" just refuse to adjust to and learn new mechanics. Imagine the next game adds ducking as a dodging option, similar to what they did with jumping in ER. the "veterans" are gonna be in shambles
I actually found Gaius to be a alright boss, and that hated changed attack from him is actually pretty easy to dodge if you don’t roll directly into the boar
Scadutree avatar is my favorite Elden ring boss and I’m willing to die on that hill (Godfrey is a close second and Messmer is also an S tier but I suck at his fight)
Scadutree Avatar is the most polished giant boss fight Fromsoft ever produced imo. Midir, Bayle, Elden Beast are all much cooler and I value them higher, but all of these have some annoying or unbalanced aspects about the fight. Scadutree Avatar, on the other hand, is very intuitive and every attack you can roll and the boss gives consistent big punish windows especially when you target the head for significantly more damage. Another thing that I like about the boss, is that all the attacks have great telegraphs and have great sound cues
my issue with Metyr is that without her cool space magic attacks she just feels like any big ordinary enemy. While all of Astel's attacks felt imposing and menacing, her flailing around just felt silly and to boot they're also annoying to deal with. Not being able to dodge the big laser is kind of yikes as well. Outside of these issues the boss is great.
Malenia at 10 feels criminal, should have been at least top 5. She felt the most fun to dance with, going back and forth when you have downloaded her moveset it feels great. One of the few bosses where you get that exhilaration in the moment when you are in that flow state. She is my third favorite boss in ER+ DS1-3, only behind Friede and Gael. As for Promised Consort. He has actually grown on me. Hated him when I did my 1st kill because of P2 but I decided to kill him using parries for my second kill and I actually ended up LOVING it. I don't know if it was just excitement over learning how to parry properly or parrying him specifically but I just couldn't wait to get back in there after every death. Felt amazing. Rellana and Messmer are my favorite out of the DLC bosses, so much so I would probably switch Midra and Rellana on this list. Midra is also outstanding. Bayle I think the community has overrated here a bit, but because he feels more like a spectacle then a fight in terms of enjoyment. Deserves top 10 but No2 is just way too high.
Holy Crap, I made it into the video! Thanks for highlighting my comment. I was originally going to write about messsmer but I chose Midra instead because I wanted to showcase how excellent thematic presentation and storytelling can elevate a simple boss fight. I also feel similarly to Gherman as well, he’s a fight I don’t see in a lot of peoples top 10 yet he is in mine.
One other cool thing about Godfrey is the fact his Crucible knights have the ground stomp attacks training you throughout the game for his beefed up stomps that cover the entire arena.
My own ranking would be: 26. Astel (B tier) 25. Metyr, Mother of Fingers (B tier) 24. Fire Giant (B+ tier) 23. Regal Ancestor Spirit (A- tier) 22. Putrescent Knight (A- tier) 21. Romina, Saint of the Bud (A tier) 20. Scadutree Avatar (A tier) 19. Lichdragon Fortissax (A tier) 18. Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon (A+ tier) 17. Rellana, Twin Moon Knight (A+ tier; bad build-up hurts both story and presentation, and delayed glintblades sucks) 16. Commander Gaius (S- tier; screw you, fight me) 15. Godrick the Grafted (S- tier) 14. Divine Beast Dancing Lion (S tier) 13. Dragonlord Placidusax (S tier) 12. Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy (S tier) 11. Malenia, Blade of Miquella (S tier) 10. Radagon and Elden Beast (S tier) 9. Messmer the Impaler (S tier; presentation is great but not amazing and 2nd phase is a bit too simple) 8. Mohg, Lord of Blood (S+ tier) 7. Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame (S+ tier) 6. Bayle the Dread (S+ tier) 5. Morgott, the Omen King (S+ tier) 4. Hoarah Loux, Warrior (S+ tier) 3. Consort Radahn (S+ tier) 2. Maliketh, the Black Blade (S+ tier) 1. Starscourge Radahn (S+ tier) Yeah, you could say I'm a bit of an Elden Ring boss glazer.
Here to celebrate the Radahn fix. He's now a much more polished fight, without the dodge left spam fiesta he was, with only small annoyances. Can easily see him on high A, maybe low S.
I’m so glad mohg was top 5 because he’s easily my favorite boss including dlc and I never hear anyone talk about him his music slaps he has a super cool arena (there’s fire under all the rocks and the steps if you look carefully) he has one of the best weapons in the game and the blood flame makes you care about spacing and keeping track of safe zones. Worst part is definitely the stupid little monuments in the sides of his arena
Have you played or heard about nine sols? Its a metroidvania with sekiro parrying and amazing bosses (with final one being one of the best ever made imo). I think you should try it if you havent already. Aside from that, great vid as always
Yo, Magicat, did you know you can increase boss health by summoning an NPC cooperator, then using the Finger Severer to despawn them AFTER they enter the arena? Just recently discovered it myself and plan to use it in ER (tried it, it worked), and even DS3 and BB (if it works).
Gonna have to make a new video. 😂 After the new patch, I think it's safe to say most people will place Consort Radahn at S tier. He's considerbly easier now, yes. But not so easy that newer players can beat him in less than a few tries. He is now pretty tough but incredibly fair. Probably might make it top 5 easily now.
@@MohamednacerKhelifi Ok saying Bayle is garbage is objectively wrong. I wouldn't actually consider him better than Gael but he's still a crazy fight with a fair moveset. I've done it no damage and you can watch my video as proof. None of his attacks ever felt bullshit. Now if you didn't enjoy the fight that's your opinion, but you're gonna need an actual reason as to why you don't like him other than acting like a hater. If you can't give me a good reason I'll assume you're just a typical internet troll.
Radahn is the most overhated boss fight since Malenia, and I strongly believe that the community as a whole will enjoy him a lot more over time once they've studied the hell out of his moveset. Commander Gaius being dead last is also a huge joke. Him being ranked below Fire Giant is unwarranted as hell considering he's actually pretty fun to fight all things considered. Sadly, the lack of a proper boss rush mode will still make most people talk out of their ass, which is honestly such a shame. Also, I'm kind of disappointed that you put Radahn outside of the S tier now. I genuinely believe that his only issue --believe me, he only has 1 major issue. The rest are fairly subjective, like the visual clutter in the second phase-- is that Triple Slash move, which btw, is not even that BAD, considering I've probably only ever died to it a few times during my 50+ attempts of fighting him (similar to Malenia hehe. Btw, I actually find her waterfowl very satisfying to dodge. It doesn't feel like I'm abusing her AI mechanics when I do, and even then, this is not the first time I've played a game where abusing and exploiting its mechanics was the norm. Hint: Super Smash Bros. Melee. LOL). But still, I don't fuck with the idea of them making nigh-undodgeable moves that specifically require you to use shields or deflect tear or ashes of wars/talismans, or positioning yourself perfectly just to dodge it consistently. It makes the thought of no-hitting him more dreadful than say, no-hitting Malenia considering how fast that move comes out and how hard it is to react to perfectly with the right move on time, everytime. At least with Malenia, you have plenty of time to react to her Waterfowl Dance, which I no longer believe is a bad move, even if it absolutely was on a first playthrough. But yeah, that triple slash move is the only issue I have with Radahn, but even then, it doesn't really ruin him all that much from my experience. He's top 3 with or without it. The one thing I do absolutely agree on though, is them retiring the Souls formula, just so we can finally get past all these people complaining about bad boss design when it's literally nothing more than just an overwhelming case of skill issue after skill issue. We've all seen what happened once people finally got used to Elden Ring's bosses. They stopped complaining less and less. However, it's pretty obvious that this wouldn't have been an issue in the first place if they just retired the Souls formula and/or gave us boss rush mode.
Not sure your gonna see this but one thing I respect about you is that you listen to the feedback more then any UA-camr with over 10 thousand subscribers really makes it feel more like a actual community love the vids to by the way
Dancing lion is such a unique boss fight done well (moveset/music/phase two) it’s a top five boss fight all time for me. If there wasn’t camera jank it’d be number one
I like how the underlining of your actual judgement for the bosses is based on how good you got in fighting them. One thing I noticed in these so called reviews is the more they complain about bosses the more scrub they are
Now I want to see a ranking of ER's mini bosses. There are so many cool mini bosses with super fun movesets that I feel are just underappreciated by most players. Tree sentinels, loretta, godskin apostles, death knights, crucible knights, erdtree avatars, Onze, Gargoyles (not Valiant), and the Red bears are some that I personally enjoy fighting. There's also some that are absolute bootycheeks like jori and gideon so I think it'll be fun to see how the community reviews them lol
PC Radahn being at B is perfect imo. He's not exactly the most fun boss to fight and as a final boss for a DLC that's a huge disadvantage. You just roll to the left for every attack and that's it. He lacks the complexity that many Elden RIng bosses like Morgott, Rellana and Maliketh have which makes those bosses amazing. His double cross slash combo is also just broken and should be fixed. But he's not Bed of Chaos levels of garbage. Some people exaggerates how bad he actually is. His moveset is still pretty decent despite my problems with it, he has an amazing soundtrack, great design and good lore.
Imo C tier is more suiting. Consort Radahn limits your playstyle so much, most of the incants and sorceries and a lot of weapons are not usable against him due to small punish windows. Also, you have to stick to his left leg and spam roll to consistently avoid attacks, also ground aoe hitboxes are broken, so strafing and jumping over stuff is non existent. As a result we have boring boss where we have to play with very boring and limited approach. I personally find more joy fighting even bosses like Fire Giant and Godskin Duo, because at least they don't limit my playstyle. However, Consort Radahn is good with deflecting hardtear and parries, that's the only redeeming thing about him
Yep, i'm in that middle ground, he is soo hard but, at the same time, lacks any complexity level, he is the final Boss of the DLC too, which can be underwhelming
@@Lakata125No? The revelation about Mohg, the desecration of his corpse, the promise with Miquella, the explanation of the Caelid battle, revelation of what Malenia said to Radahn in the story trailer, Miquella's path to godhood. The lore is great. Sorry that Godwyn ain't coming back
@@mingQWERTY It's literally fanservice lol. I also don't give a fuck about godwyn so i don't know why you're bringing him up. It should've been a new character.
30:39 i dont think it is a retcon. imo, Starscourge Radahn makes consort Radhan even better (difficulty wise). think about it, this dude was controlling the stars even in his brain rot stage, and his men holds a festival just put to him out of his misery. I personally dont use the summons, but i think canonically the tarnished and his allies come together to put him down... and then in the dlc, you are suppose to take him on with him in a fresh new body, and his femboy backpack. I mean, i dont want to defend Consort Radhan, but lore-wise he needs to be the hardest boss ever created,
So a tip about the finger mother if you just stand REALLY close to the boss when it casts but not in the magic below her in the black whole you can dodge the whole thing
Sad to see my favourite main game boss (fortissax) is so low. He is the only ancient dragon I like fighting and found the lightning the occurs when you stay too close as a nice timer to say when to disengage. I never go for the head as it moves around too much and my only real criticism is that I feel like he dies too quick and he doesn’t always go into phase 2. The gameplay is good imo and everything else is S+ tier
I really liked Consort Radahn’s first phase, but the sheer existence of the goofy flashbang antics of the second severely brought it down. Many of the problems his moveset has are exaggerated in that phase. From the increased power of the double slash, to the unrelenting aggression and movement dramatically making it harder to land punishes and instead be stuck dodging multiple sequences of attacks. It makes it so you end up being in situations far too often of passively waiting for a tiny window to attack, no chance to ever take initiative.
Godrick beating Consort, especially acting as the the first A boss before Consort as the last B boss gave me a small chuckle, props to Messmer and Bayle as my personal favorites
Maliketh is a phenomenal boss. Literally just follow the directions of his swings, and the position he takes before making them and adjust. It’s so fun to me now.
As a new soulsborne player, DLC Radahn has to be one of my favourite boss fights of all time and I think that’s due to my lack of experience in soulsborne games, I’m not comparing it to anything easier in the past which I think makes a better mindset for the fight. Same with Malenia who is my second favourite fight in the base game.
Malenia's stagger mechanic allowing her to suit different weapon types is a really good take. That is damn good and clever design. Though I agree with her placement as A-tier. She is a bit too stacked for the players normal toolkit. I still wonder what was the oroginal dev-intended way to deal with you-know-what since they clearly put lot of thought in her fight. Deflecting hardtear definitely turns her into an S-tier though. A proper swordfight against Malenia the Severed, the sound design of the clashes really pops off then as well!
Honestly, there’s only 3 fights I truly dislike in the dlc. putrescent knight, second phase Radahn (I like to consider it a separate boss from the first phase) and commander Stinky
I honestly think elden beast with the honse is absolutely amazing. The best part is dodging the first slash with his big sword by hopping off as I close the distance. Amazing.
I was a Gaius hater too once, until I remembered the trick that got me through Malenia: my shinin-Vow of the Indomitable. Just staring Gaius down, pressing a button, and negating his charge to punish felt great. The rest of his moves, first and second phase also aren't that bad.
For commander Gaius, as bad as it sounds, I found that bloodhound step may be one of the only agility mechanics that can actually doge his charge attack. If you dodge that way into him, you will not be hit but still very rarely he will get you
You really don't need to though. Dodging diagonally into his charge will reliably get you through hitless. It's even easier at close distance, where any roll direction seems to work.
Somewhat disappointed that Malenia didn’t make S tier, she and Messmer are the King and Queen of Elden Ring for me. I am glad people have stopped whining about waterfowl dance and realized how good she is. Best base game boss. Edit: to all the ppl saying waterfowl is still badly designed move, or that it worsens the fight, here my counter. Waterfowl Dance forces the player to stay at mid range where all of malenia’s moves become much cleaner to see and easier to dodge. If you’re at mid range, or just outside of her basic attacks, you are at the perfect distance to dodge waterfowl. All of her gap closing tools (the thrust, the flurry and the lunge) are easy to dodge and give you good openings. Her melee attacks can be perfectly spaced from mid range and you can rush in with a running/jumping attack to punish, and still have time to reset to that mid range position. That is the way I fight her every time, and how I no hit her at rl1.
@@dominikschutz1393 just because you didn't use mimic doesn't mean you're not bad. You literally failed to dodge most of Malenia's attacks, so lifesteal became the problem. Just dodge the attacks and lifesteal won't concern you
hot take: I don't get why people praise Godfrey so much. For me he is just A. Also He is the easiest endgame boss, and fighting 2 phase is boring af Why scadutree avatar, putrescent knight and metyr are SO LOW. I Think they are all A tier quility
Godfrey is fair, with great lore to back him up. His second phase is also one of the most unexpected and most baddass in the whole franchise. He may not be the most challenging but in terms of presentation he has few equals.
yup, but it doesn't matter for me, he is just doing those slow slamming shit. I adore 1 phase, and respect lore, personality and unexpected 2 phase transformation is cool. (Also the ost kinda forgettable) Just don't really get, how some of the best dlc bosses with cool design, music, lore, moveset as well are in C tier by the community, not even B or A, but Godfrey always hit the mark of the fav boss for most of the players.
I like Putrescent Knight so much, maybe my second favorite in the DLC. His horse attack is one of favorite attacks to punish in the game, I like how smooth it feels to strafe and how it punishes rollspamming. Metyr was very mediocre imo, as the initial burst from the black hole is very inconsistent to dodge, and her other attacks are a little boring. Scadutree Avatar kind of sucked imo, most of his headbutt attacks are really simple and boring to dodge, but he also has the really annoying phase 1 projectiles and the phase 3 AoE which is just obnoxious design. Only thing I liked was the music.
I absolutely love PCR but ur completely right, his uptime is insane. I played him on ng+5 duel bloodhound fangs and many attacks with different colossal weapons. it took me 5 hours with no summons.(I did the whole dlc with no summons on my first run) but he made me break and I used mimic but still kept dying for another 2 hours and I noticed that I should use smaller weapons because he’s just to fast. I switched over to Scarlett rott rapiers and I literally beat him on the second try after changing my build…like bruh. This fight really says fuck u if u wanna use big weapons
I fought Romina twice, first tried her twice, first tried her twice, it feels like she misses all her attacks almost on purpose, first time seeing her I was tired, half awake and high and nearly no hit her. I won and sat there confused about what just happened, second time with a pure strength build took more focused effort, but I think I healed twice.
37:15 It's funny you say Midra doesn't have the health to justify his punish windows when (including his NPC form) he has the second-highest health of any boss in the game. I guess it shows how much slower his attacks are compared to the rest of the DLC.
Well well that was a long one lol. Great video though. My own list would be pretty different but overall i think it's a mostly fair ranking (except PCR and Malenia). Messmer being the best boss was honestly very predictable and understandable. This guy is easily the most perfect boss they've ever made. Although unfortunately I have to disagree with your comment about ER having the best boss roster, PGR has Nozzle and Vassago so it's better. Sorry I don't make the rules! Jokes aside though, good job. This video must have been pretty tough to make especially with how long it is. Stand proud Magicat, you have outdone yourself. Can't wait for the next one!
42:45 no joke after the bossfight the first thing I tought was "imagine if after the second phase the red aura on radahn returns, he just slaughters miquella and we get a full hp bar phase 3". Miquella robbed us of the best fight in the series with a bullshit second phase that only adds fucking light lasers to the phase 1 moveset.
(my personal favs tier list, no tiers are ordered) X: Malenia, Messmer, Starscourge Radahn, Mohg, Radagon + Elden Beast, Placidusax S: Scadutree Avatar, Putrescent Knight, Romina, Godfrey A: Rennala Queen of the Full Moon, Astel, Lichdragon Fortissax, Promised Consort, Godrick, Rykard, Midra, Rellana Twin Moon Knight, Maliketh, Morgott, Bayle (for now I guess, haven't fought him solo-melee) B: Commander Gaius, Fire Giant, Regal Ancestor Spirit, Metyr Mother of Fingers C: ..nothing I guess lmao? D: Divine Beast Dancing Lion all things considered mostly typical opinions. just not as crazy as some in A tier as others, hence why they're A and not S and also for various reasons I just like Romina, PK, Scadutree Avatar and Rennala more than most. though it boils down to me really wishing Elden Ring had more bosses with the unique personality of stuff like Scadutree phase 3 or Rennala's 1st phase. hence why I give them more praise
1. - Godrick 2. - Mohg 3. - Morgott 4. - Placidusax 5. - Messmer ( Still am fighting him at the moment, i have DIED 40+ TIMES TO HIM AND I CAN NOT FIGURE IT OUT! He might rank higher when i beat him but he is very fun atm )
Now do the same , but for the whole fromsoft series I would love to see how Messmer/Gael/Ludwig fair against each other. Who is the worst bosses fromsoft? Bed of chaos/Gaius/Royal Rat Authority ?
This is why you can’t rely on comments to get a feel for a group’s opinion. I absolutely expected some bosses to have an equal amount of F’s and S’s, but that wasn’t the case at all. Most negative feedback comes from a small group whereas the majority who like the boss just don’t say anything because they’re satisfied.
Yeah that's a constant; you'll have people so content they won't even bother discussing the bosses or the DLC, and there's those that will do it for the fun of it (as pointless as it could be).

He's decent, but there are so many great rememberance bosses, and he doesn't really pull his weight for one.

@@bourne. I agree. Those 2 can be swapped and I wouldn't even mind because their just great
Yeah that makes sense
Ngl, Bayle is underrated even mechanically. He finally refined what Midir and Placidusax couldn't, with a better frontal fight than Midir and spectacle attacks that actually work.
I know people always talk about igon but never talk about how fluid his actual fight is
The people who appreciate him are the ones who appreciate Midir
Finally they made an actual good Dragon boss, it took them so long
And parried with igon, this boss is just perfection (yeah I know the camera is not impressive)

Midra in top 5 let's go! Also never thought that my silly comment would get featured at 38:48, regardless I am glad that many others share the love for Midra, despite his flaws
IMO a simple boss can impact a lot in some ways
Fellow Midra-lover! I think dude is definitely S-tier. For sure he is not as complex mechanically as Messmer or Rellana. But he is thematic. His ethereal floaty moves fit so well a being ecstatic in chaos. Soundtrack echoes this. The buildup before the fight is so cool. These kinds of things together elevate the boss to become more than the sum of its parts. It's cohesive, thematic and I forget I'm even playing a videogame. I love shit like this.
messmer is now my 5th favorite boss in the series behind ludwig, friede ,isshin, and gael

Messmer is one of the only “perfect bosses.” Gael and Mohg come close but both of their fights lack complexity, while they are satisfying to fight, Messmer fills the void of a well developed and complex fight.

B: Gaius, Margit, Starscourge Radahn, Scadutree Avatar, Rykard
C: Astel, Placidusax
D: Renalla, Regal Ancestor, Elden Beast
F: Metyr, Fortisaxx, Fire Giant
Placidusax that low is interesting. I'd have him high a tier. Why do you dislike him?
Genuinely concerned about whomever voted Fire Giant S tier
Even as a Fire giant defender it's a solid B for me
my issue with Metyr is that without her cool space magic attacks she just feels like any big ordinary enemy.
Agree strongly about Rellana. Really amazing fight.

After the new patch, I think it's safe to say most people will place Consort Radahn at S tier. He's considerbly easier now, yes. But not so easy that newer players can beat him in less than a few tries. He is now pretty tough but incredibly fair. Probably might make it top 5 easily now.

However, Consort Radahn is good with deflecting hardtear and parries, that's the only redeeming thing about him
Yep, i'm in that middle ground, he is soo hard but, at the same time, lacks any complexity level, he is the final Boss of the DLC too, which can be underwhelming

think about it, this dude was controlling the stars even in his brain rot stage, and his men holds a festival just put to him out of his misery. I personally dont use the summons, but i think canonically the tarnished and his allies come together to put him down...
and then in the dlc, you are suppose to take him on with him in a fresh new body, and his femboy backpack. I mean, i dont want to defend Consort Radhan, but lore-wise he needs to be the hardest boss ever created,
Honestly godfrey messmer and bayle are my favorite bosses they have ever made genuinely the top of the top
Gaius is fun just light load and u can just dodge straight thru the charge
I dodge straight through it 85% of the time with med roll
We are going after the dude that said bayle is f tier
So a tip about the finger mother if you just stand REALLY close to the boss when it casts but not in the magic below her in the black whole you can dodge the whole thing
Good fight loved the video
Sad to see my favourite main game boss (fortissax) is so low. He is the only ancient dragon I like fighting and found the lightning the occurs when you stay too close as a nice timer to say when to disengage. I never go for the head as it moves around too much and my only real criticism is that I feel like he dies too quick and he doesn’t always go into phase 2. The gameplay is good imo and everything else is S+ tier
I'm genuinely surprised at astel and regal ancestor spirit being that low
I really liked Consort Radahn’s first phase, but the sheer existence of the goofy flashbang antics of the second severely brought it down. Many of the problems his moveset has are exaggerated in that phase. From the increased power of the double slash, to the unrelenting aggression and movement dramatically making it harder to land punishes and instead be stuck dodging multiple sequences of attacks. It makes it so you end up being in situations far too often of passively waiting for a tiny window to attack, no chance to ever take initiative.
@15:50 delivery is absolutely hilarious here
Godrick beating Consort, especially acting as the the first A boss before Consort as the last B boss gave me a small chuckle, props to Messmer and Bayle as my personal favorites
Rellana is criminally underrated.
Honestly, there’s only 3 fights I truly dislike in the dlc. putrescent knight, second phase Radahn (I like to consider it a separate boss from the first phase) and commander Stinky
Thanks a lot fir reporting the voices of the people Leader Magicat.
This was rigged when Godefroy didnt get number 1 spot
Rykard will always be my favourite. His lore is great as is his Volcano Manor. The fight is just pure fun every time.
After fighting Radahn waterfowl dance doesn't seem so bad anymore
Malenia is so anoying with life steal mechanic +Design is toaverage for me. B-Tier Boss for me.
@@dominikschutz1393 only if you suck at the game lifesteal is the problem. Just dodge attacks bro
@@Vengeance_I_m i dort suck in the game. I beat every boss without Mimik tear but Malenia sucks
Also He is the easiest endgame boss, and fighting 2 phase is boring af
Why scadutree avatar, putrescent knight and metyr are SO LOW. I Think they are all A tier quility
I mean he offers a lot of jump utilities and his second phase is just more aggressive
(Also the ost kinda forgettable)
Just don't really get, how some of the best dlc bosses with cool design, music, lore, moveset as well are in C tier by the community, not even B or A, but Godfrey always hit the mark of the fav boss for most of the players.
you speak the truth! Metyr is easy A or S-Tier for me. Placidusax also way to low.
Putrescent knight is S for me, but I understand why underwater goo transforming into goofy guy with goofy weapon didn't hit it for most people.
30:40 yup it was always planned the story was pre written and there is a miquela's lilly in radahn's castle
Gonna be honest, this list checks out. You could change some things in the lower rankings, but the top 10? Nothing wrong here
I fought Romina twice, first tried her twice, first tried her twice, it feels like she misses all her attacks almost on purpose, first time seeing her I was tired, half awake and high and nearly no hit her. I won and sat there confused about what just happened, second time with a pure strength build took more focused effort, but I think I healed twice.
Happy that my comment was used for one of my favourite fights.
Romina is great.
I'm subscribing Great Content
37:15 It's funny you say Midra doesn't have the health to justify his punish windows when (including his NPC form) he has the second-highest health of any boss in the game. I guess it shows how much slower his attacks are compared to the rest of the DLC.
Resistances are also very important, as is poise, both of which he seems to lack
Based serpent messmer absolutely deserved #1
Meanwhile, my mage ass killing Metyr in 10 seconds because of Meteorite of Astel
Messmer at #1, Gaius with the last place. Exactly how it should be. The rest is up to debate, these 2 spots are locked in.
Damn, the increased FoV in dancing lion fight looks sick. These are the times i wish for me being a pc player instead of console 😅
They definitely made a great point regarding morgott
Commander Gaius gave me Horsefuck Valley flashbacks with his spammy nigh-undodgeable charge attacks
Dodgeable*
It’s not undodgeable but it’s super lame. I never expected me to dislike a non-gimmick non-gank 1v1 warrior fight so much but here we are
Its just simply not that hard to dodge
Damn almost no variety in terms of tiers with these votes, people really dont like giving bad grades to fictional characters
radahn and miquella: twin princes from temu
Stuck at an airport right now, been here for hours already and still hours to come. This should kill some time
I know the pain, was stuck for 11 hours once. Hope this video helps at least a little at passing the time
Putrescent Knight bros we gotta rise up..
and maybe one day I'll grow on Divine Beast.. I still hate it
(my personal favs tier list, no tiers are ordered)
X: Malenia, Messmer, Starscourge Radahn, Mohg, Radagon + Elden Beast, Placidusax
S: Scadutree Avatar, Putrescent Knight, Romina, Godfrey
A: Rennala Queen of the Full Moon, Astel, Lichdragon Fortissax, Promised Consort, Godrick, Rykard, Midra, Rellana Twin Moon Knight, Maliketh, Morgott, Bayle (for now I guess, haven't fought him solo-melee)
B: Commander Gaius, Fire Giant, Regal Ancestor Spirit, Metyr Mother of Fingers
C: ..nothing I guess lmao?
D: Divine Beast Dancing Lion
all things considered mostly typical opinions. just not as crazy as some in A tier as others, hence why they're A and not S
and also for various reasons I just like Romina, PK, Scadutree Avatar and Rennala more than most. though it boils down to me really wishing Elden Ring had more bosses with the unique personality of stuff like Scadutree phase 3 or Rennala's 1st phase. hence why I give them more praise
1. - Godrick
2. - Mohg
3. - Morgott
4. - Placidusax
5. - Messmer ( Still am fighting him at the moment, i have DIED 40+ TIMES TO HIM AND I CAN NOT FIGURE IT OUT! He might rank higher when i beat him but he is very fun atm )
Now do the same , but for the whole fromsoft series
I would love to see how Messmer/Gael/Ludwig fair against each other.
Who is the worst bosses fromsoft? Bed of chaos/Gaius/Royal Rat Authority ?
Bro Gaius is not even remotely close to being as bad as those bosses. He’s not even the worst remembrance boss in Elden Ring
@@zaynthemane id say he's still the worst remembrance boss and while i hate him mechanically, he doesnt earn that title with mechanics alone
@@epsilon1372 Presentation wise he’s mid but mechanically I prefer him to Metyr, Fire Giant, Fortissax, Ancestor Spirit, Astel, and Rennala
This video made me so mad this game doesn’t have a boss rush mode
