My tip for SH goals: Get a lead, and with 1min left in the game take a penalty. Opp team will pull the goalie for easy shorties

Hell yeah I've, been waiting for this one
For the NHL team superstar challenges I've been position locking as the goalie with relative success.. taken a couple tries sometime but most shots are straight at you just have to be wary when the AI gets behind the net ! Put strategies to quite aggressive with max shooting on all offensive lines, Gaborik and Tarasenko do the rest from right wing lines 1 and 2

Thats a pretty good strategy, though, I tried position locking once on Superstar and I got run over haha. Maybe with a stronger team its more do-able. Happy to hear my videos have helped though, glad you enjoy them! =]

Yes, my opponent has 0 out of 1 on the powerplays. Lmao. I derped there, that was like three different forms of the sentence at the same time. Geno is score, what can I say.

Yeah someone else brought that up. My mistake. I remember doing it awhile ago, but that is my fault for not confirming it prior to the video. Guess goalie position locking is the way to go. Regardless, thank you for confirming.
The Co-op are the only challenges i haven't beat. We will give it a run tonight.

I don't think you are able to, but if you can, try disconnecting your control, reconnecting it, and then press the left stick in or right stick in.
How do I not suck at HUT
I think the most important aspects to HUT are your team and your strategies. You want to make sure that you have a team of really fast players so that they can be both lethal offensively and defensively. Even budget players will do the job. But if you are using bigger but slower players like Getzlaf/Hedman/Tavares you'll find yourself in situations where the opponent will burn right through you. I also find that its a necessity to have TN/S synergies activated to get that boost in all of your skating stats. Having your forwards and defensemen be on their offhand will also provide you with more opportunities to score (ex. D to D onetimers)
With strategies, you'd get your players to play how you want them to. My video on strategies will make your players play very aggressively in the offensive zone where they'll suffocate the opponent so that he makes bad plays or passes, then gives up the puck. On defense they focus on blocking shots and clogging up the middle so that nothing can get through to the goalie.
Unless you are doing the solo challenges, HUT is PvP, and its all about predicting what your opponent will do and being a step ahead of him.

I agree with every other tip here but not the faceoffs because learning to beat superstar AI in faceoffs will actually make you a better player against human players, too.
Normally I'd agree with you but the AI cheats pretty hard where there is no predictable pattern, and you can counter them and it still seems like they have a high % chance of winning. I think EASHL is the best place for faceoffs because you both have an equal chance of winning and it really is just a game of Rock Paper Scissors.

Hey Brianstormed I just had a question off topic about hut defense. Having trouble with opponents coming down the boards turning back up at the corner while the computer drifts off to nowhere and the opponent will pass it to a open man in front of the net for cross crease. That play has been getting on my nerves lately and need to know the best way to defend it and cross creases in general. Also feel like my Ai arnt as aggressive on the boards as other people's.
Remember that the guy in the corner isn't a dangerous man at all. He will never score from there. Always focus on the most dangerous players, in this case its the guy he wants to pass it to. You have to stick to him by shadowing him (in front of him) so that the pass doesn't connect. Are you using my strategies on defense? Perhaps that will fix AI aggressiveness, if not, then its not that big of a deal as long as the AIs are just in the area for zone defense.
Okay I will keep this in mind, also another issue I have is when the opponent is on the rush and it's usually just my 2 defenders at the blue line. I can never seem to stop the wrister/ slap shot consistently. I will sometimes block it or get a poke in but there is no real method that I use to stop snipes or slappers on rushes. Especially against good players who are patient and will always find a lane to get the shot through, and because they have 90 overall legends it's easy for them to snipe me.
Hmm, stuff like that is very situational. Sometimes they are closer to the middle, other times they are not. I play very passively-aggressive. I'm up in their face so that they are forced to stick handle with their right stick, and if it looks like they have it set so that they can take a dangerous shot, I go for the poke check. But otherwise its really just the body presence that forces them to the outside.
Once, in HUT, I had a stupid idea. I decided to use my 5000$ to buy two bronze pack for the thing about getting gold rare players only by giving bronze player. It was a stupid idea, because I could buy a gold rare player with less than 5000$. I had a stupid idea. I opened the pack.

Haha stupid idea turns into an amazing card, nice! Bronze packs aren't that bad either, it used to be a great way to make money early on by just selling any cards you get on the AH for scraps and getting your money back.
I watched your video about 1k to 1m and I didn't understand the moment where you were selling silver goalies for 20k (because I don't speak english really good). What you did is that you just sell it for 20k and people buy it for no reason?
No, the silver goalies have either 2 specific synergies, or 2 points in a specific synergy. If you have seen my spreadsheet, the goalies with S/TN, 2 points in S, or 2 points in TN are VERY desirable. They are the expensive ones and will go for at least 10k. There are some bronze goalies out there as well.
Why do the S/TN and TN are desirable? What do they do?
Silky Smooth and Thread the Needle. Together they increase the skating stats of all of your players. They are desirable because if you are making a team build, you can use a backup goalie that has 2 points in these synergies to give you more leeway in the build (you can put another player who doesn't have any of those synergies to build that team).

I'm really bad at NHL in general can't Deke can't shoot can't get passed defenders without instantly loosing the puck and can never poke check with out getting penalties and can't force turnovers, basically bad at every thing. do you think you can make a video describing what's going through your head and what controls you do, Thanks and btw loving your videos!
Its okay, everyone starts somewhere! This kind of sounds like a combination of my videos between Refuse to Lose and the Secret to NHL 18 (or How to NHL last year). In Refuse to Lose I go over what my opponent is thinking and what I'm thinking when the opportunities arise, and you get to see full gameplay from me. Last years could be even better when I'm primarily focusing on that. As for general tips, this series focuses on that but on one aspect of the game. The defensive video could benefit you at this time, but otherwise maybe looking into last years videos where I talk about the Forecheck, or Cycling the Puck, or anything of that nature. I even have a 1 hour video going over all of the controls (only a few differences from this year). I would also recommend not deking in this game unless you are using a 90+ OVR player because its not worth losing the puck over.

BS do you switch all LW to right side and vice-versa?? Saw some players do this. Didn't know if you had an opinion.
Its not really LW to the right side, its the lefty shooters to the right side. I definitely do it on defense, but on offense its not as big of a priority. I noticed that if you have lefties on the left your breakout onetimers are a little better, where as if the lefties are on the right then your cycle 1ters are better. BUT, in addition to this, lefties on the right allow you to cut to the middle and take a really good shot with ease, where as if you do it with a righty its more complicated. Personally, I'd say do it! Just make sure you give your players a little time to set up for a one timer.

I'm on the last Co-op challenge. I am by myself. I need 25 shots on goal for the two gold plus pack. What do people think I should try?
Goalie lock your second controller so that you keep 5 skaters on the ice and use the shooting tips where you go for low shot rebounds I mentioned in the video. Alternatively, you can shoot glove side every time to cause a faceoff, and if you are struggling on faceoffs, position lock your first controller as well to a winger.

Carbone collectibles are 100k. Is that worth it? Or it's less expensive to buy a lot of bronze collectibles to upgrade them to a carbone?
+ALEX LE KK definitely don't buy bronze collectibles to turn into a carbon. Not worth it at all. The 100k, it depends on your use of them. I think they are too expensive, but it's possible they'll still increase in price. last year the cheapest carbons got were like 50k. This year I think 80k was the cheapest.
How many gold collectibles do you need to turn it to a carbone?

Hope you get this but did you say that the sliders don't matter anymore? I've been wasting my time with this crap...Started playing Nhl 18 to learn for 19, if the only thing that matters are strategy settings does that explain why I'm getting my ass kicked in every challenge

Correct, sliders don't matter as it was a glitch and subsequently fixed. I suppose it depends on how you want to play, if you are a "win a t any cost" type of person then you can puck rag after you go up by a goal or two and just keep the AI away from you. If you want to be better against All-star and Superstar AI then you want to figure out their tendencies..what causes them to get rid of the puck, back away from you, etc.

Sorry I couldn't get to you sooner. Shorties are definitely tough since you are at the mercy of your opponent. You have to keep spamming the RT or R2 pass button and hope that the AI gets it to you when they pick it up while you are half way down the ice.
So, doing the halloween challenges on the 9th one. I already got the win, it's hard but I can beat all-star.. barely.. but this is the islander one, I still need the 45% faceoff and 10 more shots than opponent on goal. I for the life of me can never win faceoffs, how do u do position lock? And is there a good method to get the 10 more shots than opponents on goal? Since faceoffs are hard to win the AI just cruises in my zone. I play collapse D And basically have the whole team park it on front of my net. But I am giving up to many shots and the AI is out shooting me.
To position lock, press the left stick in or right stick in (I can't remember which one) on the jersey select/ready up screen.
For the 10 more shots than the opponent, you can do the method I showed against Pittsburgh where I shot low corners so that I can get the puck back. Get like 15 more and then puck rag.
Totally did position lock on RW and any tie ups I was able to win as a winger and killed it on the faceoff challenge. Shots was harder but I got it eventually almost by like 20. Beat the detroit AI first try and just need the 15 hits which should be easy it's not the 20 like the other one. Thank you for your help man.

I think you used the wrong word when you said "counterattack". Do you mean breakaway?
Are these challenges even worth doing man
Definitely. People have gotten a lot of crazy pulls from these packs, especially the mini collectors packs and the rare players pack.
How do i position lock
on the team select/jersey select screen press the left stick or right stick in (I forget which) and then right next to your controller on the screen it will tell you which position you locked in as (C, LW, RW, LD, RD, G, Coach)
Breakaway one just doesn’t work. Tried all methods I can barely get one a game. 99 speed with S and TN and computer on pro backskates faster
Yeah the breakaway one can be tricky. It does work, but its not consistent. Combining all the methods for that is your best bet.
so how do you get 20 hits
hit everything in sight, they don't need to have the puck, go in for a hit and then change players...those three tips should help you get hits easily.

Doesn’t work breakaways
Yeah the breakaways aren't perfect unfortunately. The game has a tough time registering them even with the audio cues. You have to keep trying it and eventually they'll give it to you.
