Sorry for rambling at times! I think this song in particular REALLY hit me hard. I know I tend to overanalyze but for some reason this song really just hit me so hard. I spiraled a bit and started thinking too much about life and existence! Thank you so much for watching with me! I'm so excited to hear more from TOOL. This band already has such a special place in my heart ❤
It's your reaction, so stop and talk when you want. I would definitely leave those headphones on after the reaction, shut your eyes, and listen without stopping.
Loved it, we all got emotional with you, even if we heard it many times before! It’s all good. 😊 Invincible should definitely be on your list at some point. That one hit hard for me personally about getting older, similar to where the band is at in their long career. Right in Two is a good one too, you can’t go wrong, spiral out!
Tool is by far the most oddly emotional music I've ever heard. It's not that's it's sad, it's very introspective lyrically thus the listener can be put into a vulnerable state. A girl I dated years ago was really having a tough time dealing with the loss of her mother. I was 22 and she was 19. It had been about 9 months since she had died but she just couldn't allow herself to grieve. She was on a loop basically. Well, I had some mushrooms but I didn't want to give her any because I was worried about her not being able to hande them. I eventually caved because I a man and pretty girls are sneaky and stuff... Anyhow, Tool had just released 10,000 days. I put that on and it was incredible. We were in awe. The title track off that album is a two part song Maynard wrote for his mother. I don't know if I can accurately explain this but I watched her, my girl, actually deal with everything she had kept bottled up. We didn't talk at the time, that's kinda difficult on heavy doses of hallucinogens, but she could not contain her emotions. She was better after that. She was able to visit her grave and process the death as one has too to keep moving forward through life. It was like a cheat code for the grieving process. Sorry for the length, I just wanted you to know that's perfectly ok to feel how you felt. I have no idea what your life is like but I appreciate your candor and willingness to just be yourself. Keep doing that. ✌️ & 💕
I had a lot of trauma as a child, by the time I was in highschool my life could have been over, this album went a long way in helping me cope with the world. I listened to it daily. There are so many things to get out of this album about life, love and spirit. Emotional and physical connections... The grudge opens you up to your conflicts, the patient brings you to a place of self acceptance, schism tackles your problems communicating, Ticks and leaches addresses your adverse relationships, lateralus walks you through life from birth to death. That's the turning point in the album. After that you've dealt with your emotional and physical side, now the spiritual journey begins. From lateralus through disposition, reflection and triad you relax and feel your spiritual self. It's a different feeling from the first half of the record. By the time you get to Faaip de Oiad, you should be in a better place than when you started the album. Lol Of course then there's the outro about alien abduction to shock you out of it. Have fun with it.
@@grntbggr126 In part because when they first signed it was a 5 record deal and their studio screwed them over so they decided to get back at them by not releasing any more albums. That is why they all have side projects and why maynard himself has lead in 3 other bands. Pneuma was the last album in the contract so the hope for more is now out there.
Old song that will never lose its relevance. Seeing it live for the first time a few months ago when they came to the Bay Area blew my mind. But honestly every song they played that night did.
One of the greatest songs ever written and recorded, not just for Tool's catalogue but just music in general. Sonically, lyrically, emotionally, structurally. It has it all at an untouchable level. It often leaves people speechless for the last half, just like it did with you.
At the risk of sounding like a fan-boy....this is mona lisa levels of musical masterpiece. Just the single note from the gong shake me to the core every time I hear it. Literally no other song have I ever heard an instrument play a single not in an entire song and it be so profound.
Okay, so if you haven’t already listened to “Stinkfist” or “Schism” then they definitely need to be on your list of Tool songs.. they definitely will not disappoint and are amazing to listen to live.
Right in Two and Parabol/Parabola are a couple other Masterpieces in the Discography to this one in a million artists/Band. Absolutely loved your his reaction. Subscribed and hope to hear more TOOL and maybe mix in some A Perfect Circle and Puscifer
The lines “Ride the spiral, to the end, we may just go where no one’s been” are what this song is all about. Precisely by NOT following the straight path, you’re able to go and accomplish that which hasn’t been done before.
Absolutely love the “rambling” at the end. Tool is so deep that you can’t talk enough about them. It’s incredibly amazing to see someone discover them and have their mind opened. Please keep doing more, they don’t have a bad song and the journey is absolutely life changing
"Reaching out to embrace the random Reaching out to embrace whatever may come.." This bar hit me hard. I'm a guy with anxiety and having panik attack sometimes.. So my life today is not simple. Little things people do is sometimes a challenge for me. These lyrics help remembering that you have to try. Embrace the random whatever may come 👌
@@AileenSenpai please check out A Perfect Circle " by and down" it's the same singer different band. It's his best vocal work in my opinion 💯🔥🤘 keep the reactions coming 🤘
Good grief watching your reaction videos are like listening to it again for the 1st time. It makes me cry. Witnessing someone else’s reaction to the beautiful journey that is TOOL reminds me of my own personal journey through all these years. Thank you!
"Right in Two" is probably my favorite Tool song. Honestly, the whole 10,000 Days album is a masterpiece in itself. "Vicarious", "The Pot" and "Wings for Marie" are also top standouts off of it. "Parabola/Parabola" are amazing off of Lateralus. Another band that is another unique heavyweight in metal would be Opeth. Check out "Harlequin Forest" as a good starter song; live or studio. They'll also take you on a musical adventure.
Tool is by far one of the most cerebral, thought provoking bands I've ever listened to. Just wait until you start reacting to more of them, especially from their Fear Inoculum album
Choosing the best Tool song is like choosing between sight or hearing, but I think "Vicarious" is a more mature version of the "Third Eye." And the clip is a good launchpad for being shot into space. It can be scary and beautiful at the same time.
Tool saved my life during a time when I didn't know if I even wanted to keep living. The 90's were very hard for me emotionally. They are still my favorite band and listen to them every day. Love the reaction! Spiral out! Keep going!
I am 59 and have listened to all the great early metal/progressive bands for years. To me, this is the greatest song I have heard. The album is my favorite album and 2nd place isn't even close.
I love that you really let in all the feelings from the music, I would love to see your reaction of Tool´s song 7empest, such a masterpiece and an incredible vibe you´re getting into with that song
This song had such an emotional impact on me that I ended up getting a tattoo to represent it to me in my own way. It's one of the greatest songs I've ever heard .. lyrically, musically and mathematically. It's beyond life changing IMO. So glad you discovered it and Tool as well.
I could tell immediately this music was calling to you. You're on a journey and music like this can help you. Keep developing your soul with these thoughts and these sounds. You'll get where you want to be.
"Following our will and wind we may just go where no-one's been" is one of the greatest lyrics I have ever heard in my life. These are genuine words to live by.
I love that you call Adam Jones's "guitar solo" magical, because it's not a term often used to describe his more showcased moments...because they're not guitar solos in the traditional sense. But they are magical, as you said. They are ethereal, dreamy, incredibly narrative, and uncomfortably dark. They're gorgeous.
Welcome to the Tool Army! I say listen to all of it! Can't go wrong! And when you run out of Tool songs, there's also Maynard's other projects, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer (can't go wrong there either!) Cheers!
Tool fans love it when other people are new discoverers of Tool. Especially when it’s appreciated and/or understood. I had known of Tool as a kid, but didn’t appreciate them until my 20s.
You are an extremely well spoken young woman, and I love your take on the song. As a tool fan of 15+ years, I absolutely love seeing people get turned onto their music. Watching people's minds get blown is like looking back through time at myself when I first heard them.
I have always felt that Tool is an experience, whether you’re simply listening to their music or going to their concerts. I’ve only been able to see videos from their concerts, and I very much wish to go to one someday. Their shows work to enhance the experience of listening to their music, is the best way I could describe it. Lasers, lights, massive display screens with psychedelic imagery playing behind the band, just a crazy show that goes along with the music. Loved your reaction, as always.
Nothing but love for you Aileen! Thank you for sharing your experiences with great music. I want to second (or 3000th time) vote you to check out "Right in Two". Have the lyrics in front of you for that one. One of the best written songs I've ever heard. You're amazing and fun and I look forward to your reaction to that one. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Welcome to the Tool ride! You’ve just scratched the surface. Two to consider next - Parabol /Parabola and Right In Two. Both life-changing.
You have your tool ticket, time to start down the rabbit hole. 🐇 The Patient should be on your to do list. Beautifully done song. After 7 min youll wish it was 14 min.
Hahaha! Lol... It NEVER gets old... watching people discover TooL is so much fun. Makes me remember and relive my own journey with them. TooL is my Gospel. Straight up, no joke. Instead of going to church I listen, sing and meditate to TooL. They ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS raise my vibration to a point of euphoria...Aura be BOOMIN after a good TooL sesh! I've watched a few of your reaction videos and I can tell you're really getting into them! It's like with each video, I can see your soul blossoming 😁 Watching your third eye opening... Hahaha. Amazing to watch. I'm happy to say, sorry kiddo--- YOUR HOOKED! So happy we converted you. Buckle up, the TooL journey is a beautiful and transformative one. Exploring your dark side, and realizing your light. 🙏 TooL just does not make a shitty song. PERIOD. EVERY SINGLE SONG IS A MASTERPIECE. So you have plenty of material for reaction videos! Aileen, my dear, you have earned yourself +1 SUBSCRIBER. I look forward to watching you continue your TooL journey, may it be a spiritual one and may Spirit Bless You! Yay!!!! TooL Army WINS AGAIN!!!! Hahahaha 😁🥳🤣🥳🤣👍✌️🙏
Tool has also their emotional side, except a philosophical one. And when they go emotional, it is 'to the core' and very personal, of course. I recommend listening "Wings for Marie (Pt 1)" together with "10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2)". These songs are about Maynard's mother who had a stroke and went paralyzed for 27 years or about 10000 days. Warning, some tears can pour out while listening...
Been a TOOL fan for years. Even seen them twice. I just discovered this song this past weekend. The last 2 minutes may be my favorite piece of music ever made. You gotta see them live if you get a chance. Theyre unbelievable.
Great Reaction Alleen. To be honest there really in not a bad tool song, it just depends on how you want to feel at the end of the song. Their best work IMO is on the Fear Inaculum album. My personal favorite is "Decending". enjoy the ride Alleen!! spiral out!!
Hey friend, that was really great. I've been a Tool fan for many years now, and Lateralus was very much an anticipated album for me back in 2001. It's really refreshing to see folks actually "get it" the same way you've embraced them. I had a feeling that Tool would touch many people throughout the years, it's just great to see it documented the way you did. Spiral out, Aileen.
Love your reaction! Can't wait till you're a little further along your Tool journey when you have to jump to A Perfect Circle and listen to Judith in order to understand Wings for Marie and 10,000 Days! Those 3 songs are the greatest testament and true emotions of one man's inner emotional struggle (Maynard) put into lyrics and masterfully articulated instrumentally like no other artists could wish to achieve! For now, I would recommend Right in Two, Parabol with Parabola, The Grudge, The Patient and for an all around Tool Experience, Eulogy. Can't wait for more Tool reactions. 👍
@@richardclark1127 you're right! Orestes is such an amazing and emotional song! I figured, by the time she got there that people would let her know about the whole saga.
I'm sure someone has already said it, but this song is based around the Fibonacci Sequence. The syllables in the first and second verse go 1,2,3,5,8,5,3. The time signatures also follow the pattern and it is what they are referring to with spiraling out. Tool are actual geniuses.
There's a video here on youtube from a channel called Polyphonic that does an amazing breakdown of Lateralus. It's actually mindblowing just how much thought went into the creation of this song.
@@mokane86 Yeah I agree that it all fits perfectly because of the math behind it, but if you watched the video I'm talking about then you'd see a lot of it is intentional.
@@Kryptoche Came to second this comment. Follow the syllables of the words. 1 - black 1 - then 2 - white are 3 - all i see 5 - in my in-fan-cy 8 - red and yell-ow then came to be 5 - reach-ing out to me 3 - lets me see Each line added together makes up the next line in the sequence. The sequence creates perfect spirals. Roughly what the Fibonacci sequence was discovered to create. The next line in the song also feeds into the sequence after 8 13 - As a-bove so be-low and be-yond I i-ma-gine It's really an incredible piece of writing.
This album came out right around the time I first starting getting anxiety and panic attacks. It helped me cope with something I had no context for and had no idea what was happening to me.
You're analysis and use of words more succinctly explains the Tool experience better and more accurately than pretty much any reviews I've heard. I'm very impressed by your eloquence. Been a Tool fan since last century and it's always nice to re-experience it again with these reactions. New sub!!
First of all, welcome to TOOL!!! These reactions have been something special and it's really warmed my heart to see them. I can tell from these first three videos, you get it 100%. The subjective interpretation, the way you let it move through you and affect your mind, heart, and soul. Bravo! It takes some people years to get that. I am truly happy you have found your way here. Also, you picked three good ones to start with. Pneuma, Forty Six and 2, and Lateralus are some of the best. FYI: Look into Carl Jung and his work on the shadow for a little more insight into Forty Six & 2. As far as suggestions for future, Pushit is very sad but absolutely beautiful. Right in Two has genius lyrics. Descending is wonderfully melodic but carries a sense of urgency and warning. There's many others as well, of course. I truly hope you continue to enjoy this never-ending journey.
"I embrace my desire to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human." Such a profoundly enlightening feeling this song expresses. Choosing to listen to yourself and chase your dreams and embracing all the highs and lows that may come along with that choice! Beautiful song and beautiful reaction as always!
Love your reactions so I subscribed. Welcome to the Tool Rabbit hole. Tool made it possible for me to get through rehab and recovery; it will be 3 years clean in July. Sober, Undertow & Parabol/Parabola are important songs for me, along with Right in Two. I know you will eventually get around to them. Keep spiraling out. ✌♥️
Hands down this is my favorite tool song!! When I first heard this song via headphones I started crying and at da end of the song I didn't even realize I was crying and I couldn't believe this song brought me to tears the way it did do wit dat said tool isn't a band in my eyes... their a movement if that makes any sense.....#spiralout
Tool Army here, I have been a Tool fan since the 90s, yes I'm old....moving on.This song was released in 2001, I still remember the first time I heard it, I became captivated by it immediately. I can't tell you how many times I have listened to this song through the years, but what I can tell you is I am Just as effected emotionally by it today as I was 21 years ago. I can't think of another song that touches my soul the way this one does. There is however another song by Tool that comes close (Parabol/Parabola).Welcome to the Tool Army.
I’m really enjoying your TOOL reactions, do yourself a favor and go see them in concert. I have seen them 22x and they still blow my mind every time. They are the ultimate concert experience.
After your last two I was thinking you may want to have someone on standby with oxygen when you tackled Lateralus. But you did great! Part of the enjoyment with Tool is to watch their transformation as they get older, so I suggest going back a bit and watching the live version of Sober so you can see Maynard's amazing performance and have a better understanding of where they came from.
I watched your reaction to lateralus and it hit you like a ton of bricks. It's such a powerful song, I've been a fan since they started and it's always a rollercoaster ride listening their music. I'm already a fan for life. Welcome aboard the ride!
I love watching people fall in love with Tool. I have felt so much passion for their music for over 20 years. They have molded me as a human. Welcome 🙏
Just think, you've just scratched the surface... welcome to the rest of your musical life journey. Those who get it, get it, those who don't I feel sad for. Tools music is just amazing.
I discovered this song like 2 years ago and it still makes me tear up. My spirit is connected to the words and numerical progression of this song. I’m glad you found the Tool wormhole. Spiral out
This is probably my favorite song of all time. It just reaches you... Your analysis of this song was spot on! Keep doing what you're doing and be who you want to be despite what others may think. You deserve validation and you're going to be successful in your ventures due to your knowledge, eloquence, and authenticity. Spiral out. Keep going.
46&2 Is viscerally amazing but Laturalus is a masterpiece. My two favorite Tool songs although really it's a Flux state of preference. Another deep and masterful song is Schism. But really you can't go wrong with any of them. Good shit. Lots of people like Tool and lots of people react because it gets the views. But I feel like you get it. You're not just paying lip service to the algorithm. Much love.
This song (and so many other great Tool songs) makes me think of a roller-coaster ride. Especially how the intro emulates the anxiety of the slow climb of that first hill. But like Bob Marley said, "The thing about music, once it hits you, you feel no pain." So you get to experience the excitement and even the anxiety of a roller-coaster, but knowing that the music can't hurt you.
Lateralus is Tool's magnum opus. It's my favorite song of all time. The way that Justin uses the bass whammy pedal and the heart beat like percussion is so immersive. Along with existential lyrics that will give you goosebumps.
This is my favorite song. Not just my favorite Tool song. I've been listening to it for about 20 years: countless times. And that ending still gives me chills.
I heard their song "Sober" and it drew (lots of) people in. After that I found their first album and loved how raw it was. Their timing changes seem like they are needed for new music, like Jinjer. An advance was needed, so why not time changes! Some others do it, but it is even harder to make those and have them fit the entire band comfortably. One band in the 60s did it, King Crimson" with probably lots of stuff but a big one is "21at Century Schizoid Man". Hmm, funny Tool does a song "Schism". I see you did "46 & 2". Did anyone mention it being the Carl Jung base on human DNA autosomes and chromosomes?
I listen to it every day. If it resonates, it's in a playlist. Tool, APC, and Pucifer. I haven't had time for anyone else lately with all the hell breaking loose. Their music is extremely therapeutic for me. Forty Six & 2 was the song that made me a Tool fan 12 years ago. I'm intrigued by your perception so I'll be watching your reaction to that one as well. I hope you read new comments on old videos. I subscribed yesterday.
This song is something of a "spiritual battery" for me. When I'm feeling bogged down by things in life, when I feel particularly lost and on the cusp of a breakdown, this song in a way or another always finds me and somehow attempt to center me, makes me breathe by leaving me breathless, it opens up all the pores of my being making me more receptive to the world and letting me realize how blind I was getting, that my potential is still in me, that I can channel creativity once again. You perfectly get it, it's like you get reborn. I cried during this video, and it's a song that I've listened truly countless times, so much so that I at one point thought ok, maybe Lateralus is no more my favorite song ever, but when a piece does this to you I guess it even stops to be comparable to any other song. Thank you for the reaction, I just discovered you and it's immediately apparent to me that you're a genuine person with a beautiful sensibility. Keep it up, subscribed.
Tool is my favourite band . I used to be at their concert in Poland and I already have tickets for next concert in may . I cant describe how amazing this band is . My fav song is Parabola. Once I had only 1 song in my ipod for a year and it was Parabola. I used to listen this over and over … and never have enough.
I wish humanity would be advanced enaugh for music like this to be on the top in mainstream media but in a way it makes it special the way it is now. Not everyone can be self aware enaugh to see the beauty in dissonance. Have a wonderful day friend
When you listen to the top ranking songs on the charts you start to realise how primitive humanity still is. Literally all these hip hop songs sound the same with the same boring beats and topics about drugs, sex and alcohol.
I really love seeing new Tool fans coming to life! If you're inclined H, The Patient, 10k days are also some emotional rollercoaster you'd love. Keep up the good work 🙂
right I'm gonna stop you right there when you said 'we go into a straight line and follow the path',,,, yes and yes.. I never did that, but I LOVE that you just said that! No love x keep em coming
Puscifer and APC needs to be on your radar as well Maynards other 2 bands. He’s the greatest frontman of all time. Puscifer - Monsoons, mama sed, The Remedy , APC -when the levy breaks , so long and thanks for the fish
I really loved your interpretation of this song. You have a truly unique vision . THANK YOU so very much. Hearing this through your ears was a wonder of discovery.
Beautiful chaos in a box....is Lateralus. Everytime I hear this song, i always feel it's too short. If you wanna check out just how detailed and magical this song was. check out the video "The Math of Lateralus" You've embraced the random...
Grant you I'm not fanatical about Tool. That having been said I've never heard a Tool song that didn't engage me in some good way. I like the traditional, almost tribal feel of this especially the drums. The flip side of that feel is the vocals seem a bit subdued compared some of their other songs. The thing I like about Tool best is the complexity engages you even if you don't understand the musical theory behind it. Great reaction
I really enjoyed watching you feel every word. It was written plainly on your face throughout the song. I relived my first experiences with Tool "vicariously" ;) through you. Thank you!
The vocals start at 1:37 sec which is 1.618 minutes 1.618 is the ratio between the fibonacci numbers, also called golden ratio each vers of the song is 55 seconds, 55 is a fibonacci number Time change in the corus, 9/8 - 8/8 - 7/8, 987 is a fibonacci number The lyrics and the sequence: (1) black (1) then (2) white are (3) all I see (5) in my infancy (8) red and yellow then came to be (5) reaching out to me (3) lets me see (2) there is (1) so (1) much (2) more and (3) beckons me (5) to look through to these (8) infinite possibilities (13) as below so above and beyond I imagine (8) drawn outside the lines of reason (5) push the envelope (3) watch it bend People are still amazed by this song after 20 years...
Apparently the whole album is in the fibonacci sequence except the songs are out of order - when you listen to them in the "Holy Gift" sequence it blows your mind because it fits so perfectly
The baby analogy is a new one for me. I see why you got there from the song. The black and white to red and yellow, its talking about the closed eye visuals of LSD at first versus later on in the trip. I think there was an interview that Maynard says that, but it was his explanation of the lyrics. Ive watched your videos for a while and am a pretty big fan. Just now seeing this one and i really like your analysis of the lyrics
the quality of their music never stops to amaze me, it's funny, but they set the bar so high, that i consider their newest album one of the worst (i think only their first EP i consider worse, never was a huge fan of it, and it didn't have their real sound yet), though if it was recorded by any other band i'd think of it almost as a masterpiece, because it's a solid album, but it pales in comparison to the rest of their discography (my personal favourites 10,000 days and ofc lateralus)
@@Alix777. it's a great song, but it also kinda surprise me, why people often bring it up vicarious, rosetta stoned or right in two are definitely better for me personally on that album

It is always incredible to see how all corners of the world react to the power of this song. I'm glad you are riding the spiral with us.
'Swing on a spiral of our divinity and still be a human'... this verse always hits me directly to the heart, no matter how many times I hear it
Right in Two and Parabol/Parabola are a couple other Masterpieces in the Discography to this one in a million artists/Band. Absolutely loved your his reaction. Subscribed and hope to hear more TOOL and maybe mix in some A Perfect Circle and Puscifer
I agree Parabol/Parabola are definitely overlooked. Killer song.
My #1 album of all time. It's been 21 years and I still feel it when I listen all the way through.
Truly one of the greatest works of musical art ever created. This entire album is about enlightenment.
Best song on the album is Resolution
@@justinquamme916... reflection?
lateralus is an amazing song. definately one of my favorite tool songs
The lines “Ride the spiral, to the end, we may just go where no one’s been” are what this song is all about. Precisely by NOT following the straight path, you’re able to go and accomplish that which hasn’t been done before.
Yep, Live your own life, and you'll see, think, and do things nobody else has ever done in quite the same way before. All life is an experiment.
Absolutely love the “rambling” at the end. Tool is so deep that you can’t talk enough about them. It’s incredibly amazing to see someone discover them and have their mind opened. Please keep doing more, they don’t have a bad song and the journey is absolutely life changing
Can't wait! One of the best songs ever written imo. Enjoy the journey, spiral out 🌀 👁 🧘🏻♂️ 🙌🏼
"Reaching out to embrace the random
Reaching out to embrace whatever may come.."
This bar hit me hard. I'm a guy with anxiety and having panik attack sometimes.. So my life today is not simple. Little things people do is sometimes a challenge for me. These lyrics help remembering that you have to try. Embrace the random whatever may come 👌
thank you for sharing how you feel! I too can relate with the anxiety..These lyrics really hit me so hard as well
@@AileenSenpai please check out A Perfect Circle " by and down" it's the same singer different band. It's his best vocal work in my opinion 💯🔥🤘 keep the reactions coming 🤘
Maynard has another band named "Pusicifer"(some decent songs) but I could never get into them like Tool or A Perfect Circle" (just BRILLIANT 👏 😉 😀)
Tool are the what Pink Floyd were back in the 70's. (Unique, Masterful and one of a kind musicians)
Good grief watching your reaction videos are like listening to it again for the 1st time. It makes me cry. Witnessing someone else’s reaction to the beautiful journey that is TOOL reminds me of my own personal journey through all these years. Thank you!
Thank you for watching ❤️❤️
"Right in Two" is probably my favorite Tool song. Honestly, the whole 10,000 Days album is a masterpiece in itself. "Vicarious", "The Pot" and "Wings for Marie" are also top standouts off of it. "Parabola/Parabola" are amazing off of Lateralus.
Another band that is another unique heavyweight in metal would be Opeth. Check out "Harlequin Forest" as a good starter song; live or studio. They'll also take you on a musical adventure.
This!
Right In Two is an INCREDIBLE song...beautiful melody, writing, and lyrics! Really makes you think, which I love about music
Stranger: "do you take drugs?"
Me: "Everyday"
Stranger: "what is your drug of choice?"
Me: TOOL
Same day... some day people will learn to comment on UA-cam without using colons.
Whats my drug of choice? Well, what have you got? I don't go broke....but i do it a lot, I DO IT ALOT! YEAH!
Hahaha yes I say that all the time! TOOL is my drug of choice 🤯

Tool is by far one of the most cerebral, thought provoking bands I've ever listened to.
Just wait until you start reacting to more of them, especially from their Fear Inoculum album
If TOOL had a song that was a final boss of songs/music.. that song would be ‘Third Eye’ … Enjoy!!!
THIS!
Choosing the best Tool song is like choosing between sight or hearing, but I think "Vicarious" is a more mature version of the "Third Eye." And the clip is a good launchpad for being shot into space. It can be scary and beautiful at the same time.
7empest is the video game's final boss. Third Eye is the IRL realization that you're playing your life like a video game.
So good to see you once again, I thought you where hiding from me.
Tool saved my life during a time when I didn't know if I even wanted to keep living. The 90's were very hard for me emotionally. They are still my favorite band and listen to them every day. Love the reaction! Spiral out! Keep going!
The Grudge is another great track from this album. Would love to see you react to that! Wait til you hear Danny at the end!
I am 59 and have listened to all the great early metal/progressive bands for years. To me, this is the greatest song I have heard. The album is my favorite album and 2nd place isn't even close.
3 songs and she's spiralling . That's gotta be a record . 😆
Loving your honest, vulnerable, emotional reaction to these tracks! ❤️ Tool hits me the exact same way ❤️
I love that you call Adam Jones's "guitar solo" magical, because it's not a term often used to describe his more showcased moments...because they're not guitar solos in the traditional sense.
But they are magical, as you said. They are ethereal, dreamy, incredibly narrative, and uncomfortably dark. They're gorgeous.
Great reaction to one of my favorite Tool songs. If you get the chance, go see them live, you won't be disappointed.
The Patient should be on your to do list.
Descending is a trip, no doubt
Descending is a Master Masterpiece.

Why does nobody mention Jimmy and Orestes in the Maynard's mom saga? Should go from Jimmy to Judith to Orestes to Wings part 1&2
@@richardclark1127 Jimmy lyrically is incredible...well the whole song is haha
@@richardclark1127 you're right! Orestes is such an amazing and emotional song! I figured, by the time she got there that people would let her know about the whole saga.
Maynard's mothers song saga concludes with "Horizons"
I'm sure someone has already said it, but this song is based around the Fibonacci Sequence. The syllables in the first and second verse go
1,2,3,5,8,5,3.
1,1,2,3,5,8,5,3 actually
@@ascendedsleeper5693 or maybe the song practically wrote itself... 🤔
how much thought goes into growing a snail shell?? (Fibonacci spiral)
😂😂🤘
@@mokane86 Yeah I agree that it all fits perfectly because of the math behind it, but if you watched the video I'm talking about then you'd see a lot of it is intentional.
@@Kryptoche Came to second this comment. Follow the syllables of the words.
1 - black
1 - then
2 - white are
3 - all i see
5 - in my in-fan-cy
8 - red and yell-ow then came to be
5 - reach-ing out to me
3 - lets me see
Each line added together makes up the next line in the sequence. The sequence creates perfect spirals. Roughly what the Fibonacci sequence was discovered to create. The next line in the song also feeds into the sequence after 8
13 - As a-bove so be-low and be-yond I i-ma-gine
It's really an incredible piece of writing.
This album came out right around the time I first starting getting anxiety and panic attacks. It helped me cope with something I had no context for and had no idea what was happening to me.
Same for me!! 89 ER visits in one year due to panic attacks!
Thank you for this wonderful comment! I’ll be looking into these as well ❤️❤️❤️
"I embrace my desire to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human."
Such a profoundly enlightening feeling this song expresses.

Intension and Right in Two should be listened to together. The message is still on point today.

Great review .. Tool is an amazing band . Anyone ever tell you that you look like the actress Cassie Steele
But like Bob Marley said, "The thing about music, once it hits you, you feel no pain."
So you get to experience the excitement and even the anxiety of a roller-coaster, but knowing that the music can't hurt you.
I'm not sure what to say.....other than....SPIRAL OUT>>>>>KEEP GOING
Love to hear your reactions Aileen, you are a beauitiful soul. Tool is the best band in the world..hands down!!
So looking forward to this!
MASTERPIECE!
Tool does not manufacture top 40 BS, they sing about life and touch souls.
#ToolArmy
Keep up the good work 🙂
Everything in the Universe is spiraling and the Fibonacci sequence is the order of nature and Tool is pretty amazing

Puscifer and APC needs to be on your radar as well Maynards other 2 bands. He’s the greatest frontman of all time.
Puscifer - Monsoons, mama sed, The Remedy ,
APC -when the levy breaks , so long and thanks for the fish
I really loved your interpretation of this song. You have a truly unique vision . THANK YOU so very much. Hearing this through your ears was a wonder of discovery.

Yes!!! Another new fan. Love watching you all overwhelmed and taken by this band. Welcome to your ascension.
Damn! That last part NEVER fails to give me goosebumps 😤✊
“Don’t limit your challenges. Challenge your limits.”
Arguably the best Tool song in my opinion. Very very well done song lyrically and musically. This one really grips me.

I really enjoyed watching you feel every word. It was written plainly on your face throughout the song. I relived my first experiences with Tool "vicariously" ;) through you. Thank you!
The vocals start at 1:37 sec which is 1.618 minutes
1.618 is the ratio between the fibonacci numbers, also called golden ratio
each vers of the song is 55 seconds, 55 is a fibonacci number
Time change in the corus, 9/8 - 8/8 - 7/8, 987 is a fibonacci number
The lyrics and the sequence:
(1) black
(1) then
(2) white are
(3) all I see
(5) in my infancy
(8) red and yellow then came to be
(5) reaching out to me
(3) lets me see
(2) there is
(1) so
(1) much
(2) more and
(3) beckons me
(5) to look through to these
(8) infinite possibilities
(13) as below so above and beyond I imagine
(8) drawn outside the lines of reason
(5) push the envelope
(3) watch it bend
People are still amazed by this song after 20 years...
i was lookin through all the comments to find someone else....this aspect is why its my Ultimate Tool song. Swing on the Spiral, the Fibonacci spiral
Every song is a masterpiece. I recommend Descending or The Pot or Right in Two for your next reaction but to each their own.
the quality of their music never stops to amaze me, it's funny, but they set the bar so high, that i consider their newest album one of the worst (i think only their first EP i consider worse, never was a huge fan of it, and it didn't have their real sound yet), though if it was recorded by any other band i'd think of it almost as a masterpiece, because it's a solid album, but it pales in comparison to the rest of their discography (my personal favourites 10,000 days and ofc lateralus)
@@Alix777. it's a great song, but it also kinda surprise me, why people often bring it up
vicarious, rosetta stoned or right in two are definitely better for me personally on that album
