- Skyrim is a game with an abundance of various creatures and inhabitants. Perhaps one of the most ferocious foes the Dragonborn will ever have to encounter are Skyrim's trolls. Massive, brutish beasts, trolls lurk in nearly every type of environment on Tamriel. Be it caves, forests or mountain tops, Skyrim's a land FULL of trolls. But what secrets are these characters hiding and what does the game not tell us? Well, that's what we're off to learn today. Sit back and relax as we explore five things they never told you about the trolls of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

@@MadveD12 Ohhh... that explains them importing lumber and such. But I will still make a green pact Bosmer so diehard, she will not harm plants even in Skyrim. :D I thought it would make a nice challenge to make an alchemist who NEVER USES PLANTS. NATE: "Trolls used to be much, much bigger"
Me: *IS THIS WHY HE RECORDED THIS AFTER GIANTS??*
Plot twist, trolls are descended from giants.
Bigger plot twist! People races were just smaller back then.
So, about the trolls size, the reason predators on Earth evolved to be smaller was that their prey had shrunk, as well. This could explain the trolls lesser stature, however murky, and also introduces the bone-chilling question of what a troll needed the extra height to hunt.
yup, at least two modern carnivores, coyotes and tigers, got smaller at the end of the last ice age because their larger prey species went extinct
Sky whales
I got to give trolls credit. They are one of the three of Tamriel's creatures that I have encountered, so far, that will literally go all out against a dragon and not go down easy, and will literally come close to killing a dragon if it fights on land. The other two are Giants and the Old Orc on the roadside. New theory: Trolls are an offshoot of exiled orcs and giants. Lol!
They’re orc-giant crossbreeds.

Saying that the Bosmer are trolls might be the stupidest shit I've heard on this channel.
@@metetural9140 why?
@@schmittybacall1655 in a land of magic, flying lizards and gods of immense power, why is it so hard to believe that the trolls just exist? Why do they need a reason to exist? If trolls suddenly appeared in the real world then sure you would definitely wonder where they came from but in a fantasy, can't you just settle with "They just exist?" Why do they need reasons but not men or mer?
@@metetural9140 well I thank you for your respectful answer first off (not sarcasm but real being real) and from what I understand there is a reason for every race being in the world. I do think it's a stretch to say that trolls come from wood elves but there is a source in the world of the elder scrolls which states that all monsters come from the wild hunt. This probably isnt true but the fact that it is a theory that is accepted in this world of fantasy and magic means that it is a totally valid theory. I don't know much about this world and neither do most people, only the developers can say for sure how any of the creatures or even the civilized races of Tamriel Cameron be and they haven't deined to tells us everything yet.
@@metetural9140 it's magic just like there is vampires that are from men and mere I mean it makes sense there is facts and states that Nate stated and it's logical just like Giants that are connected to Nords and it's a game everything can happen

I want to mention something else about the Grahl. A well-known feature of trolls is their ability to regenerate health at an impressive rate. However, they are weak to fire, suggesting they can't heal burns as well.
Grahls can heal themselves similarly, but they were unable to use that ability while taking fire damage, giving even more credence to their relationship with the troll.
I have always theorized that trolls have a common ancestor with frost giants, seeing as they have many similar physical characteristics, like a third eye in the middle of their head, three fingered hands with claws, pointed, furred ears, and fur covering almost all of their bodies
Actually, Trolls are the creation of the Daedric Prince of Hircine.
Sheogorath and Hircine had a bet on who could make the most fearsome and strongest creature ever. You know, just some muscle flexing between two daedric princes.
And in the end, wanted them to battle each other.
End of the tale: While Hircine send his Troll, Sheogorath just sent in a small bird, always landing on the Troll's head. Causing the Troll to repeatedly smack his own head, until it died from it.
So yeah... Even among Daedra, Sheogorath is a tricky motherfucker.
Edit:
Like many of you already have hinted, it's a deadroth, not a troll. I'm apologizing for making this mistake.
Raiden Where did you find this?
He didn't make trolls, he made a daedroth and gave it lycanthropy.

I think that if we were to ever get an Elder Scrolls game in Valenwood, it would be cool if we were able to interact in or observe one of these “Wild Hunts” and have it be the main problem or a DLC of the main game. Idk just a thought. 🤷
If we ever get a TES game set in Valenwood, bethesda will most likely ignore most of the pre established lore and retcon the rest like they did with cyrodiil and skyrim.
