Ανάφη 2022 [Anafi 2022]

This is a short film about a trip to Anafi, an island of the Greek Cyclades. I was there last June for 11 days, so I made the most of it with a mirrorless camera, some fast prime lenses and a drone. The result was a 12 minute short film with music I composed for it. I wanted to share our experience of the place. The relaxation, the ambience of the Mediterranean summer and the excitement of climbing a geological monument and spending the night shooting the galaxy.
The monolith on the east side of the island, is 460m tall and dominates the landscape. It is the largest in the Aegean, and the second largest in the Mediterranean sea after Gibraltar. There is a small church on top, and the visitors can spend the night outside the building, at some spots protected from the wind.
The view of the night sky is amazing, due to the altitude and the minimal light pollution. It is definitely an experience to remember! We climbed it in the evening of the Summer Solstice, just in time to watch the sunset. And we watched the new dawn before climbing down to civilization.
