Wow a Legnum VR-4. I had the previous model E84A Galant VR-4 many years ago - what a great car. Had it for 5 years, added 100hp, took it drag and track racing, and it never let me down.
They were really popular in Japan in the late 90s. Of course you have the Legacy GT, but then you also have the Caldina GT-T, Accord SiR, Altezza Gita, Mark II Qualis, Stagea, and of course the Legnum VR-4. Toyota even made a wagon version of the Crown.
@@bksniperguyThe best and most unknown in my opinion is the Fielder Z-Aerotourer. It was the station wagon version of the corolla with the 2zzge (192hp, valve lift and a redline of 8200rpm) and a 6spd manual. Somehow, they weighed less than the sedan at a meagre 1150kgs. I’ve never owned another vehicle like it.
Before I bought my Stagea I considered the VR4's and I must admit it would have been nice to own one while they were in their prime. Here in the UK the few remaining examples are often quite neglected and in poor condition. I'm sure there are a few careful owners out there but they ain't selling.

As a loooong time VR4 guy, stuff worthy of note for this particular car. The bodykit is mostly aftermarket, probably from a lad in Russia. The headlight eyebrows in particular are things he sells. The mirrors are "ganador" style, likely also from Russia. The driving lights which are usually in the bottom corners of the front bumper have been removed and it looks just hollow back there. The air intake is a bit naff - that's a hot air sucker and whilst cool looking not the best for good MAD. It has aftermarket intercooler piping including the elbow that goes to the intake (that's good) but it also looks like it still has the stock intercooler (that's not so good). If you own one of these cars, get a "HDI GT2" intercooler. It's an easy install (check my channel for an install video). Big power VR4s should keep the airbox but *wiill* also need a hole cut in the bottom of the airbox and a pipe connected to it from a suitable other cold air source. If not, the insane air flow will suck the bonnet rubber lip into the air intake and starve the engine of air. This car also looks to have the stock power steering "cooler". It's rubbish - just a loop of pipework - and a hard day at the track will cook your pump. For like $10 you can get a small oil cooler and fit it yourself. Do it as soon as you buy one of these cars. Stock these will put about 132awkw down on a "Mainline" brand chassis dyno. It's common for the VR4 to show a ~70kw drop between the crank power and the at-the-wheels power. So, they are about 206kw at the crank. Stock engines can be tuned to about 200kw at the wheels in the absolute best case without major work other than exhaust, intercooler, injectors. You can't throw heaps of boost at the bottom end without getting rods and pistons, but I've done it as have others. 300kw at all four wheels is then realistic, especially on E85. You will need one of the available Coil on Plug conversion kits and Denso VK22 spark plugs if you're going anywhere near high power or ethanol. Big power will also require that the 3rd gear is re-welded otherwise you will rip the outer gear ring off the inner one. The stock ECU can be tuned for flex fuel with a custom ROM, but you are better off with Link or Haltech here if you're in the USA as niobody will know how to tune that custom ROM. Other good mods to make on these are the Evo front LSD. Any aftermarket Evo IV-VI front diffs will fit in the transfer case, which is identical to the Evo case. The Super AYC differential for the rear is also a drop-in with no electrical or mechanical work, and gives you better torque vectoring. I have all this stuff on mine. It's a beast.
What a wonderful find. I love Thomas shifting left handed. When I was 17 and learning stick, my friend had a manual bug. We’d go to McDonald’s for shakes. He’d drive one handed and hold his shake with the other. I’d work the shifter with my left hand. When I was 40 I got a manual rental in England. The shifting 20 years later was so natural because of all those trips for shakes. Like riding a bike. You never forget.

I dont care how old i get, or how far tech advances. Late 80s through early 00s Japanese cars will always be special to me. That plastic interior that was the same in every car, the revvy little engines and subsequent noise, the styling, it just encapsulates everything that is right and good about automobilia in general.
Yeah it's sad. I've been a mitsu boy since forever ago and to see how far down hill they went. It's just sad. I think they have like 2 models up here now. Eclipse cross and the mirage. The mirage of which is crap. I have an older one and it's still fun as hell.
Think of it this way. It's better for them to have gone out like they did instead of seeing them become with toyota and honda has They haven't officially bowed out of the consumer market but they might as well have with their Nissan deal. Like when LG got out of the smartphone race before they had to start designing garbage blocks like everyone else
Owned a trigger mauve version of this. VR-4 Twinturbo V6 2.5L 4WD. Loved pushing the AYC and watching the the lights on the dash :D AYC was on all VR-4's. There was a facelift and there was a super VR-4 with a more in the face bodykit. Changing the cambelt on these cost $1500 NZD many many years ago! 300k's to the tank and the 4WD is epic on a twisty road. Owned it for 5 odd years, miss that wagon. Now they're are cheap as chips as they say in NZ. Mine was full leather on 18" bronze wheels... ahh nostaligia. If only I could be on a car show doing reviews like you guys. Love cars so much. Thank you so much for doing this! Now I own a Toyota Blade Master G V6 3.5L.... you should give one of those a review!
As an American you should know that we Americans do lots of things that don’t make sense to the rest of the world…like really, as a whole we make lots of questionable decisions here
It's not all Americans, soccer moms and general non-car people prefer SUVs because it makes them feel safe. If I could trade my '03 BMW 540i M-Sport for a wagon equivalent, I would in a heartbeat.
@@NewbombTurk. - I get it. I love wagons too; but that majority of the car buying public has a child’s grasp of physics and doesn’t understand how unsafe and inefficient their stupid trucks and SUVs are. Le sigh….
I am so happy you did this! This was peak Mitsubishi era. Their turbo and 4wd were unreal for the time. The VR-4 badge made young men draw breath and the very mention. I recommend you search for the Mitsubishi ad with the song "you always get what you give". So upbeat and exciting was the brand at the time. It descended quickly after that as the market moved and they didn't see it coming and stubbornly refused to adapt.
As a huge old Mitsubishi car fan and someone owned an Evo V, I absolutely love this car. Clicked on the car video immediately when I saw the thumbnail. This is essentially wagon version of NOT the Lancer evo, but the 3000GT.
Slightly different again. The 6a13tt engine in this doesnt share its block with another platform. I think there were a few rare instances of naturally aspirated variants. It's 2.5L and has a very healthy torque curve compared to alot of other cars of the time :)
I owned one of these for 9 years. Great balance of performance and practicality. The good things: handles like an Evo, no lag from the small turbos, interior is very nice for this generation of car, big enough for friends and family. Bad things: engine potential is limited by the small turbos and no room for bigger turbos, various electrical gremlins, not great on fuel.
Was pretty stoked to see this video from you lads my father watches your videos and he owned a Legnum vr4 and the previous 7th gen + a couple evos the Legnum of which is loved a lot by our family and friends as it could absolutely embarrass GT-Rs and AMGs with no trouble and I’m currently in the process of tidying it up and restoring it as it was off the road from 2018-2023 and it’s a pretty heavily built example making 450whp on low boost and will be good for over 600 at the wheels it’s one of the fastest vr4s in the world as far as I know
The $10,000 buys on the main channel really gets my attention. I bought a '08 CLK550 Coupe for under $5,000. 381 h.p. and almost 400 torque. Did the exhaust and it sounds really good. It would be nice to see a run-off between that, a C55, C32, CLK55, cars you can easily find for under $10k, even a C63 W204, I see a lot for under $20k, a great bang for your buck with great power. Would be a great video for the older Mercs.
My '05 Mazda6 GT manual wagon is, at long last, wearing out. Something like this looks so appealing, because in among new cars, a sporting, manual transmission is a pipe dream, and the only things with the kind of rear seat and hauling room are tall, heavy, souless CUVs
I love my Legnum VR4. Got her in Japan and love the V6 power. Doing MX on the car is tough though, parts is expensive and not a huge aftermarket. So glad they reviewed it.
@gal_ant couple of people online making adjustable suspension and new parts coming. I personally plan on making some but only small scale stuff. Plenty of internal upgrades avaliable, couple of big name tuners here in australia, active forums since 2006ish, its doing alright still.
@@demonrox1228 Vouge was a great parts / bodykit company back in the 2000s for these cars, I have a archive full of legnums and galants which has amounted to close to 3000 images of just legnum and galant photos & history so I pretty much know everything about these cars and the aftermarket parts for them. I own one myself and I know the struggle so it'd be nice if some new parts came around.. especially coilover / suspension parts!
A forum post said it has about 320hp stock. Bought one of these for my import business and this car feels insane. You forget it's a sports car until you step on it.
This is my daily driver. 96 Type-S with the INVECS auto box. Luckily the previous owner had it fully rebuilt and it shifts perfectly but yeah. The amount of road presence the car has and putting power down is insane
Theres a lot of these here in Australia, people have been importing these for over 20 years, basically since they were pretty new. Still see a few on the road today. One lives near me.
At one point you could buy one of these in okay working condition for around 6k€. I owned manual Galant VR4 back in 2009 and boy was that thing special. In winter it could beat pretty much any car on the road and in summer it gave at least fair contest to BMW and Porches. It was comfortable too and all for Corolla money! Mitsubishi totally nailed the styling and I think facelift Legnum is the best looking wagon ever made. Out of curiosity I've been occasionally eyeing these and most you can find are in various stages of disrepair with engine and/or transmission problem, AYC and ABS problems etc. Or just disassembled unfinished projects with interior backed in boxes and engine in the trunk. Low purchase price but high maintenance has really proven fatal for these cars but these are, in my opinion, one of the finest cars ever made.
I absolutely loved mine. When I had to sell it doe to private issues, nobody knew what it was and I couldn't give it away if I wanted to. Yet, an Evo 4 goes for 20K and more here. My lowest price was 6K and even then, nothing. Needed it gone, so took some bits off and sent it to the shredder. If I ever have the means to get one of these again, I will get another. Super underrated cars.
Offfttt owned a legnum vr4 and galant vr4 with evo 8 driveline, the shorter ratios made it so rapid for mostly stock! These cars are so underated and probably the best balance between comfort and speed/agility, the AYC diff makes it feel so nimble for a heavier car, one of the few cars that i had to tell my brain to trust the car ripping through sharp corners, it didnt seem possible mind you mind had good coilovers and tyres/handling mods
I love these! I'm an FTO owner and just so sad that Mitsubishi are off the radar now. They made fantastic cars in the '90s, there was a reason why they were successful in Motorsport. Their engineers were brilliant
Europe here, Performance Wagons are insanely cool. Never heard about a Mitsubishi Wagon, but surely its insane on the Autobahn, blasting over 200kmh (around 124mph) with 4 Bros and Luggage
I owned a 1991 Galant VR-4. Number 1044 of 2000 for that year so I have a deep appreciation for this video. I want to admit it wasn’t a great car to drive. My guess is weight vs not enough tire.
This is the TH content that made me love this channel. Really like seeing unique (to us anyways) cars like this. Y'all should do a trip to Kapan and just bask in the car culture there for like a week. Go next spring and tie it in with the F1 Japanese GP.
Thomas had it right with the boy racer thing. In Australia they tend to be reasonably common in terrible conditions. Often seen in various states of neglect around public housing estates.
It was sold as the Galant VR4 in the UK, and from memory they only came auto there. My mate had one, and the road cops in Northern Ireland used them...
the automatic from this car was also carried into the Evo 7 GT-A and Evo 9 Wagon GT-A. I had a Galant VR-4 version with the auto. The main issue is the wave ring in the transmission that can break and then go all through the transmission
Hello! So the bonnet is aftermarket and infact did not come on the Super VR-4 Models, it was called the "Monster Hood" which is a mashed together with an evo 5 / 6 bonnet and vent. the front bumper, wing / spoiler which is the Dolphin kit, mirrors being "Ganadors" which are very VERY expensive if genuine or even replicas! they go 1000+ on the market (sadly) and the Evolution badge on the back was put on by somebody in japan and infact never came on the car from factory, where the evolution badge on the boot would be where the VR-4 logo is, and If I remember correctly aswell Ralliart didn't make this car at all and that badge also is "aftermarket" the only ralliart models were the ones brought over to the UK imported by Ralliart UK! same for the mitsubishi rear emblem on the rear taillight is also not OEM it is positioned where the "LEGNUM" emblem would be. oh and some information about the interior options, this car u featured is quite basic on the inside compared to the options these came with so here I shall list, this car as an option came with the Evo momo steering wheel which is actually very sought after now adays aswell as the stereo / radio part suround where it's "metallic" grey ish, as a option it came with a carbon kevlar (which is actually not real it is just a wrap from factory) which is quite rare to find which is also expensive to buy but everything with these cars are expensive due to the fact it's hard to find parts for these!! (knowing from owning one currently..) but this legnum on this video is far from stock and is quite heavily modified! and you are correct about saying the shiftknob is aftermarket. before I go, these cars came with an option from factory which was a MASSIVE moonroof which is also rare but most things now on these are just silly rare lol. the moonroof when they popup forsale go for stupid money which is 1000+ or a couple hundred more. and this legnum because a Facelift model came with the best front end known to man! which most people call the "Shark" front end. bye bye!
I remember seriously considering one of these when the JDM craze initially started to die down, I looked at these (also called a galant vr4 in the UK I think), a Subaru legacy GTB and a Nissan Stagea, my budget was only about 4k and I bought the Subaru - what a car that was, sequential twin turbos and mighty boost. Ended up dying and I traded it for VW which was shite. This was back when an R32 gtr could be had for about 7-8k.
I had a Galant EA0 back in the day - I am still sad I had to sell it for cheap as the shop I brought it in to service it told me I better not fill up the fuel tank fully cos it might leak. Everything underneath was rusted like hell. Had absolutely no clue because it looked great otherwise. I think to this day the Galant EA0 was one of the most beautiful sedans ever created.
I love Mitsubishi they're my favorite car brand lol. I've owned 8 Mitsubishi, 4 of them being Eclipse (2g, 3g, 4g, 3g in that order). Currently daily drive a 2003 Eclipse GT Spyder, it was my favorite gen so I had to buy another one and this one I'll be keeping. The 6g72 can be a pain in the ass to work on (3g Eclipse, Stealth, 3000gt) but its what I'm used to and actually enjoy doing all the mechanical work on it. Great cars, super reliable as long as you keep on top of timing belt/water pump replacements, and cars that are kind of under the radar, not in every conversation, etc.
I had a 1998 Type V. Such a fun thing but felt ancient even in 2016. Auto was truly tragic and leaky. The engine was sweet and smooth and sounded fantastic. Sadly someone else decided they wanted it more than I so I never got to explore its potential. Now trundle around in a Gen 4 Pajero with the 6G series of V6!
some fun Legnum facts, 45000 were produced. 3400 were manual. all manual facelift variants were a Type-S and has the AYC (was rear diff only, no front or center AYC) system. the 276hp was stated 295hp crank is actual the 3000GT VR4/GTO was 49K usd the Legnum VR4 was 45K The top trim Legnum VR4 Super was only available as an auto
We have a Legnum vr4 that we’ve had since new the car made 308 crank and 394 nm in late December ‘97 I have all the records of dyno graphs and weight and plenty of other stuff if you or anyone else would be interested
Hello 👋 from Ireland, lads love the channel. Every video is a blast fun yet informative 😊 I've always loved the Legnum VR4 since I was a kid playing Gran turismo thanks for the memories 😊
Used to own one, faster than a WRX wagon but not as quick, awesome car. Just fyi, Legnum was just the name for the Galant wagon, there was no 'Galant' wagon, like alot of other JDM cars the wagon version had a completely different name for some reason. Also this is a mid 90's car, NOT early 2000's. They built them into the very beginning of 2002, but if I remember right it was released in '96. Also also also, VR4 is a really special badge for Mitsi fans. It denotes the performance version of the Galant and was first introduced in 1987. This is special because that car was the first to have four wheel drive and MOST IMPORTANTLY, it had the first 4G63T engine. They took that car rallying and it's technical systems were so successful that they migrated them into their new Lancer, giving birth to the Lancer Evolution. That VR4 is often called the Evo 0 and is legendary amongst fans. The later Galants VR4's were true Ralliart cars and carried the current Lancer Evolution systems like AYC, essentially big Evo's.
I've been begging for yall to drive the legnum for a year! Finally! I imported my 97 vr4 coty legnum last year to america and it's been a treat. 6a13tt is a bit of a bitch to work on though
oh wow, wikipedia says they're only 2.5L, I thought it was the same as the 3000gt by the looks of it, but those are 3.0L and a completely different engine code
Different issues, the GTO runs the 6g series engines, these are 6A series. There is a bit more room around the engine for cooling in the engine bay tho. I currently have 2 of these sitting at my house.
Hi Thomas & James, I really like your series of funky classic car reviews. When I watched that Legnum episode something very beautiful crossed my mind: the Alfa Romeo 159 Sportwagon 1.8 tbi probably the most beautiful station wagon ever made ...and with that engine a beautiful drive as well. Could you try to find one and test it in your show?
I enjoyed this more than most of the supercar videos. It's just an awesome car that we never got. Loved this thing for years. Admittedly I have a thing for fast wagons. Unfortunately, they're hard to come by in America
I had one of these following me for a while crossing Vancouver Island between Nanaimo and Port Alberni on my way to Tofino in my Yaris a few years ago. At one point it found a spot to pass and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it gradually ease away on the winding highway that it seemed to be meant for. It was black and lowered with some lovely aftermarket wheels that I presume were BBS but I’m not sure Why don’t we get fun cars in North America?
So cool! Couldn't have clicked faster. We have the Galant. Still running. Most had issues. Design wise, they killed it with the Galant. The Legnum's rear never grew on me though.
I had the 2.5 V6 Galant and it sounded great with its Coke Bottle size exhaust - watched this video and did a quick UK search and there aren't any for sale 🙂

I have all this stuff on mine. It's a beast.
All that work and they still suck!
You never forget.
holy crap....dont even see these around here in Japan anymore
nicely done
Really? Thats kinda sad :/
We do actually have a decent Legnum/Galant scene in Australia, and active forums
Yeah im in some groups no meets from what ik tho but other countries snagging them up cause theu aint thay expensive for a jdm car and imo best looking inside and out @@demonrox1228
This is my favorite Mitsubishi car they ever made
What an AWESOME car!
I love wagons
Same. It was in Gran Turismo back in the day and was a bit of a sleeper.
@@danieljones8706 the old Need For Speed SE had a code you could enter to drive the Volvo 740 wagon, I would always do that so i could drive a wagon.
More than one of the Evos?
Starion was the coolest.
3000gt was the best.
I dont care how old i get, or how far tech advances. Late 80s through early 00s Japanese cars will always be special to me. That plastic interior that was the same in every car, the revvy little engines and subsequent noise, the styling, it just encapsulates everything that is right and good about automobilia in general.
Nostalgia can be dangerous.
@@cbotten106how
It hurts to see how amazing Mitsubishi was.
Agreed 💯
Yeah it's sad. I've been a mitsu boy since forever ago and to see how far down hill they went. It's just sad. I think they have like 2 models up here now. Eclipse cross and the mirage. The mirage of which is crap. I have an older one and it's still fun as hell.
Think of it this way. It's better for them to have gone out like they did instead of seeing them become with toyota and honda has
They haven't officially bowed out of the consumer market but they might as well have with their Nissan deal.
Had a Mitsubishi FTO with a Legnum VR4 6A13TT engine, it was a weapon!
Thanks for the throwback.
They go alright hey! Heck, I've not even had mine tuned (used factory ECU), and sometimes I wonder if I need any more power.
Never understood why Americans don’t like estate cars. As an American, I freakin’ love em!
That's cuz we like station wagons.
As an American you should know that we Americans do lots of things that don’t make sense to the rest of the world…like really, as a whole we make lots of questionable decisions here
It's not all Americans, soccer moms and general non-car people prefer SUVs because it makes them feel safe. If I could trade my '03 BMW 540i M-Sport for a wagon equivalent, I would in a heartbeat.
cuz dey ugly
This is why I watch you guys very few other people review this type of car.
Mitsubishi a once long gone amazing company , my dad owned Galant VR-4 , Pajero , Lancer evo , truly one of the most reliable and amazing cars
They still make the pajero tho
The Pajero is the only thing to ever truly compete with the Land Cruiser
My dad's former work colleague had one of these & often came over at the house in it. I fell in love with it since
Was pretty stoked to see this video from you lads my father watches your videos and he owned a Legnum vr4 and the previous 7th gen + a couple evos the Legnum of which is loved a lot by our family and friends as it could absolutely embarrass GT-Rs and AMGs with no trouble and I’m currently in the process of tidying it up and restoring it as it was off the road from 2018-2023 and it’s a pretty heavily built example making 450whp on low boost and will be good for over 600 at the wheels it’s one of the fastest vr4s in the world as far as I know
Please review a Evo after this!
In the year 2033 (if we make it that far) they'll be able to review the rare Evo 8 wagon.
4:27 the asterisk on the right side of INVECS was genius! 👏😂
The second generation Eclipse was probably one of the best affordable vehicles ever made. 🤷🏻♂️IMO of course…
I remembered the Legnum VR-4 a lot on Gran Turismo 2 since it can race on dirt tracks against the Escort WRC 1998.
They made an Evo wagon as well. Luckily you all in Canada can import after 15 years, it's 25 in the US so the Evo wagon is still too "New".
we have a grand total of 1 evo9 wagon in Barbados. and i think maybe 2 or 3 vr4's here...🇧🇧
you guys just made me woohoo like a child, I had a v6 galant which I loved and this is the unicorn galant/legnum
I just LOVE Extra Throttle House for the simplicity of the tests.
My '05 Mazda6 GT manual wagon is, at long last, wearing out. Something like this looks so appealing, because in among new cars, a sporting, manual transmission is a pipe dream, and the only things with the kind of rear seat and hauling room are tall, heavy, souless CUVs
Just when I wondered if this channel has done Evo content and here you are! Many thanks! 😃
omg I was just looking at these, they are so freaking awesome! Cool to see you review it. Love to see some less popular gems like this!
I love my Legnum VR4. Got her in Japan and love the V6 power. Doing MX on the car is tough though, parts is expensive and not a huge aftermarket. So glad they reviewed it.
The aftermarket is starting to take off, and if you haven't already check out ozvr4, active forum thats been around forever
it had quite a big aftermarket scene in the 2000s but most of the companies died and the parts that were made are rare to find now adays.
You guys should do a legnum vs stagea vs legacy wagon. Special guest RS2
There's an old jap track comparasin. Leggy is fastest and volvo had best storage
Nah the special guests would be Evo Wagon, Commodore/Falcon Wagon (Aussie cars), Toyota Caldina GT4/Toyota Majesta/Toyota Mark 2 Blitz
Holy crap. I've always wanted one of these. They're everywhere here in Australia. Never thought I'd see one on this channel
Often seen in various states of neglect around public housing estates.
im just glad this has over 100k views
Legnum is one of my favourite cars ever. It's an amazing car.
(knowing from owning one currently..) but this legnum on this video is far from stock and is quite heavily modified! and you are correct about saying the shiftknob is aftermarket. before I go, these cars came with an option from factory which was a MASSIVE moonroof which is also rare but most things now on these are just silly rare lol. the moonroof when they popup forsale go for stupid money which is 1000+ or a couple hundred more. and this legnum because a Facelift model came with the best front end known to man! which most people call the "Shark" front end. bye bye!
I still have my Evo VIII as my DD. Showroom condition, drives like new, still fast and fun to drive
I had a Galant VR4 type S. Was alot of fun getting all three AYC lights to light up but burnt about as much oil as fuel.
Back when Mitsubishi was awesome. I’d love to have one of these wagons
My first car was a 70's Mitsubishi Galant which was awesome. I would love to drive this.
Great cars, super reliable as long as you keep on top of timing belt/water pump replacements, and cars that are kind of under the radar, not in every conversation, etc.
had the pleasure of driving & being driven ones over a decade ago, really nice, interior was good for the time, I wish I could have afforded it
I had a Mitsubishi eclipse 2 gen and still think is one of the most beautiful cars ever made
My mum has one of these when I was growing up, although it was the more basic 4 cylinder and auto trim tho. Had a lot of fun memories in that car
This, the Legacy sedan and wagon were my heroes 🎉
I owned one back in 2004. It’s basically the GTO running gear in a Gallant wagon.
i honestly really enjoy your mitsubishi videos. evo 9 vs evo x video coming soon?
I had a 1998 Type V. Such a fun thing but felt ancient even in 2016. Auto was truly tragic and leaky. The engine was sweet and smooth and sounded fantastic. Sadly someone else decided they wanted it more than I so I never got to explore its potential. Now trundle around in a Gen 4 Pajero with the 6G series of V6!
Love the off-beat reviews the most. 10/10
I had one of these and I miss it so much. I currently drive a B8 supercharged Audi S4....and I would swap it in an instant for a another manual Legnum
some fun Legnum facts, 45000 were produced. 3400 were manual. all manual facelift variants were a Type-S and has the AYC (was rear diff only, no front or center AYC) system.
the 276hp was stated 295hp crank is actual
the 3000GT VR4/GTO was 49K usd the Legnum VR4 was 45K
The top trim Legnum VR4 Super was only available as an auto
We have a Legnum vr4 that we’ve had since new the car made 308 crank and 394 nm in late December ‘97 I have all the records of dyno graphs and weight and plenty of other stuff if you or anyone else would be interested
Hello 👋 from Ireland, lads love the channel. Every video is a blast fun yet informative 😊 I've always loved the Legnum VR4 since I was a kid playing Gran turismo thanks for the memories 😊
Somebody around my neighbourhood (Ottawa) owns a Nissan Stagea. I absolutely love these Japanese estates. This one is cool too. Thanks for the video.
I was curious about that. In the 3000 it's a total bitch.
@@pacman18 Because #transverseengine
oh wow, wikipedia says they're only 2.5L, I thought it was the same as the 3000gt by the looks of it, but those are 3.0L and a completely different engine code

Different issues, the GTO runs the 6g series engines, these are 6A series. There is a bit more room around the engine for cooling in the engine bay tho.
I currently have 2 of these sitting at my house.
So georgeous wagon and slick video..!! Watched twice. Thank you..👍👍
Awesome seeing a car review channel with your prestige reviewing a Legnum! Now you have to do a Nissan Stagea!
I'm so happy to see the Legnum get some love. Could we perhaps do the 90's Mazda Cosmo as well?
I love these things, they are the perfect family car for a car loving dad
Hi Thomas & James, I really like your series of funky classic car reviews. When I watched that Legnum episode something very beautiful crossed my mind: the Alfa Romeo 159 Sportwagon 1.8 tbi probably the most beautiful station wagon ever made ...and with that engine a beautiful drive as well. Could you try to find one and test it in your show?
I enjoyed this more than most of the supercar videos. It's just an awesome car that we never got. Loved this thing for years. Admittedly I have a thing for fast wagons. Unfortunately, they're hard to come by in America
can't believe you reviewed this! awesome
I was waiting to hear Legnum meant Crown.
Lol not in Mitsubishi language
@@MaverickPhantom they have a running joke that every Toyota name means Crown.
I was just going with that.

“I’m having a fun.”
Haha. Literally couldn’t care less about this weird car but I can’t pass up a Thomas and James video. Please keep em coming!!
Just got my first Mitsubishi, an Evo X, a couple months ago and I love it
I had one of these following me for a while crossing Vancouver Island between Nanaimo and Port Alberni on my way to Tofino in my Yaris a few years ago. At one point it found a spot to pass and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it gradually ease away on the winding highway that it seemed to be meant for. It was black and lowered with some lovely aftermarket wheels that I presume were BBS but I’m not sure
Why don’t we get fun cars in North America?
ALWAYS loved these! 😍
But i loved where Mitsubishi started and back in the dsm days
Such a cool car... the styling, even. Much more tasteful than most of what we have nowadays.
My mum had a Gallant growing up and I thought it was the coolest car ever.
My cousin bought one a few years ago. Although it was the automatic, it was a great car. And so fast!
There was also the Subaru Legacy GTB in Japan as kind of Counterpart. Owned both, still got the GTB but i loved them both
Amazing stuff. The times of the Forester, the Legnum and the Evolution Wagon, Accord Euro R station.
So cool! Couldn't have clicked faster. We have the Galant. Still running. Most had issues. Design wise, they killed it with the Galant. The Legnum's rear never grew on me though.
The facelift rear looks alot nicer, but I honestly love the styling of the legnum more
I had the 2.5 V6 Galant and it sounded great with its Coke Bottle size exhaust - watched this video and did a quick UK search and there aren't any for sale 🙂
