My lad sold his 430 BMW 6 months ago and bought a 6 cylinder F type s …It’s a 2016 with 16 thousand mile and full jaguar service history and he loves it 👍🏼
Purchased my V6 from a main dealer in September.18000 miles on the clock with one owner from 2017.Grey with chrome detail.Looks fantastic against any other car on the road.Always look back at the car when I park it.Beautiful.
I have a V6, remapped stage one, 400 Bhp, that's just rear wheel drive, 9 years old now 11,000 miles on the clock, coupe, white with 20 inch black wheels, panoramic roof, garrage kept. It's timeless...
Bought my 2015 V6S in 2022 for similar money. There are some jobs you should look at having done to ensure it stays in great condition. 1. It will have rusty cross braces underneath. They all do. I had mine removed, shot blasted and powder coated black earlier this year. At the same time they treated the subframe rust and applied Dinitrol to them to prevent further corrosion. 2. The brake calipers, especially the rears lose their paint and go rusty. BCS in Nottingham do a full refurb including seal checks/ replacement, water blast strip, etch coat, colour coat, transfers and top coat for about £400 for all four. I chose Ferrari red for mine. 3. Lift out the false boot floor and check for water ingress - a lot of the coupes suffer from it and it can fry the electrics. Mine had traces. I bought the correct 3M sealant and removed the plastic ‘gutters’ that run down each side and replaced the clips, which have little rubber seals to seal the holes and re-glued the plastic gutters back in. Been fine since. 4. I can highly recommend having a ModStock rear exhaust box modification (they do them on an exchange basis). The valves in the exhausts have very weak linkages and they will fail if they haven’t already (previous owner had that problem and Jaguar fitted a new back box in 2019 for over £2k. They failed again late last year.). ModStock fit sturdier valves which they guarantee for your lifetime car ownership, and they open up the box, then the resonators inside and partially straight pipe the box. The valves work with the original system/ switch and the quiet side stays exactly the same, but open the valves and it gets a much more satisfying bark! You think the stock exhaust sounds good, wait until you hear a ModStock modified box! 5. You probably have the electronic LSD. Jaguar say that, and the gearbox are sealed for life. This is nonsense. The LSDs fail regularly. Get your Indy to change the LSD oil. Gearboxes can go further but that transmission fluid needs to be changed to prevent an expensive failure. It’s a pricey job as the plastic sump contains the filter so that has to be changed with many litres of fluid which ain’t cheap! But it is cheaper than a gearbox! 6. They get really peppered with stone chips on the front, so bear that in mind if you haven’t had the nose PPF’d. 7. Coolant Y-pipes split and it loses all its coolant. You need to switch it off pronto if it happens. Jag made an updated part but it’s quite a big job to change it with supercharger off etc to gain access. 8. Supercharger snout couplers wear and you get a rattle, especially on turning the engine off. Keep an ear out for that developing. 9. If you get any wandering of the front end developing, it’s suspension bushes. I had mind done early this year. Mine is off to Viezu at the end of the month for 200cell sports cats and a stage one map…😊
This list needs to be shared widely for anyone considering an F-Type. I spent ages researching these details, but I've never seen anyone compile them all in one place. My 2016 V6 S, with full Jaguar service history and 45,000 miles on the clock, had the LSD oil changed by the previous owner within the last two years. So, I'm now looking into getting a gearbox service done. What would you suggest as a good service interval for the gearbox? It's reassuring to see that, overall, the F-Type seems like a reliable car, I rarely see horror stories on the Facebook pages. It's a far cry from the XE groups, where engine failures were a daily occurrence! 😆
@@andycooper3807 I researched it at the time and the conclusion was 70-80k miles for the gearbox. It wouldn’t hurt to get it done earlier though. I think it came to about £800 for mine.
@@andycooper3807 One thing to note about the LSD fluid change is that as it was a ‘lifetime component’ according to JLR they didn’t fit it with a drain plug. That means the fluid has to be sucked out of the fill plug hole. My Indy said they got as much out as they could, but obviously some old fluid remained. He recommended running it for another year on the new fluid and then draining and replacing the fluid again, which should have diluted the ‘old, old’ fluid enough to have pretty much got everything out.
Lol, way too much to do and hence the depreciated like anything. You'll end up spending so much in time and money that a 25k inital price tag doesn't seem that cheap. You can get a 981 S for 35k with reasonable miles. Revs highers, sounds better, mid engined, more practical with two boots and won't depreciated in the same way
What a car! I bought a brand new Mustang Dark Horse less than 2 months ago mainly because I need 2+2 seats and I wasn't sure about the reliability of the Jag, but I still dream about the F-Type... Enjoy it!
I have had y F type for 3 years - your mates smile is what I get every time I drive it. It's a great looking, sounding , drivable car. Good luck with your ownership
I had a 2014, 340 convertible for three and a half years. Absolutely loved it and it had more than enough power for my driving abilities. Had the active exhaust which sounded awesome, my neighbour even agreed when he heard it firing up at 6.30 in the morning. It looked awesome in grey with the upgraded sports seats and got lots of admirers in a nice way. Had a few high service and repair bills as the result of a failed O2 sensor and a couple of other niggles. I sold it 2 years ago as it had become my only car and needed something more practical with load capacity. I was forever borrowing my mates Insignia estate and used to leave him the F Type, think he was more upset than me when I sold it 😂 If I had a Time Machine I’d do it all again but probably go for the 375 model. From reviews it sounds like the 375, V6 is the sweet spot in the model range for performance/handling.
Yeah the V6S is definitely a real sweet spot in my opinion. Not too much difference in power from my experience but you can feel it. Hope you get yourself back into one soon David! Thanks for taking the time to watch!
Have an awd F type s....at 475hp....it "IS" a supercar....looks, sound, speed. The v6 is shorter geared than the v8..... And the coupe has a decent boot. No issues. Things to do: Get the metal cooling pipes and a carplay upgrade and voila, modern car too. I put LED bulbs in..brigher. Changing the fluids is key: diffs (tranfer case if awd), zf8, supercharger....and plugs. I run BG44k every oil change and do oil at 5k mile intervals. Done. 65k miles. Very reliable engines once you do the cooling pipes and use common sense...drive it harder once warmed up. It is not a 0-60 drag car...
Dude, sounds like you've got it all figured out! The F-Type S is a beast, and those upgrades you mentioned are totally worth it. Keep enjoying the ride!
I have a 2016 3.0S with manual transmission, rated 380 HP in the US. Mine is triple black, has all the options save carbon brakes. A special car I take out when the weather is good. I'll be taking it off the road soon, I live in New Hampshire, USA, the car has never seen salt and here the first snow comes in November, it won't get back on the road until April after the rain has washed the salt away.
You say people think the car looks worth 60 to 70k, I bought mine new a V6S in 2016 and it was 70k with a five year service package. Still have it and still love it.
I'm 41 and the F-type V6 manual transmission 2018 model year is the first performance car I've owned. I totally agree that it's amazing value for money. You need to have the means to keep it maintained well, do your research about potential issues and get an OBD reader to check for codes or signs of a failing battery. Join the F-type UK forum if you haven't done so yet.
Wow, the manuals are very rare indeed. Couldn’t agree more, doing your homework before you buy one is a must. I did a lot of forum reading before buying my own. Thanks for watching!
@bengibson1056 rare and incredibly satisfying for anyone who enjoys the engagement especially on country roads which make most of my daily commute. Your video was posted on the forum which is how I learned about it. Keep it up!
From the age of 25 to 32, I owned 4 different F-Type versions - my favourite was the model you have there on a 66 plate & my first, in Loire dark blue metallic, with ivory interior, an added flat-bottomed steering wheel (essential imho) & 19 in diamond cut Orbits like that one. Ahh good times - thanks for the memories! I'm now slumming it in a 2023 RS5 Vorsprung coupe as I career into my mid-30s & ultimately, death by middle-age boredom.
@@ph8077 Hey mate, I am debating between getting the "old" 2016 F type v6s AWD and the S5/RS5 B9. How would you compare the jag and the audi in the feeling that the car gives you when accelerating? The audi has a turbo which once loaded, is very brutal but I've never driven the f type with the supercharger(which should pull preety linear)
It's amazing how cars can bring back such vivid memories! The F-Type is truly a masterpiece. Glad to hear you had such great experiences with it! Hope you're managing getting by with the RS5...
I had a 2016 jag XE awd, and the head unit just made the interior feel so dated. The handling was great on that car, but was boring to drive with the auto. There was no play in the cornering at all. Traded it in for a Golf GTI performance, and bought a weekender 2003 BMW Z4 3.0i E85. I understand what you mean when you talk about character of the car. One of the reasons I bought the GTi over the R, was the character of the interior. The R felt too sterile, where the GTi was more playful, and kept the iconic plaid seat trim.
Love your car swap story! The GTI sounds like a blast, and the Z4 sounds like a great weekend car to run around country lanes. Thanks for sharing Peemick
Your spot on Ben what a fantastic car which is the one I’d have they may now go up in value as Jaguar have stopped making them. Great review of this classic bargain sports car which looks brand new☺️👌☀️ Regards James
Great pick mate and overview. V6 is definitely the best engine for this car. Have to say id probably spend the extra for the mid life facelift (2018) as those headlights look super sharp to this day. Absolutely shocking theres not more of these on the road. Would be interesting to hear about service/support experience, even if its not a main dealer you go to
Thank you! Yes I almost bought an all black facelift F-Type but it didn’t have the pan-roof which was a must for me. I’d honestly argue that the 2018 facelift still looks better than the 2020 facelift too. As for the service and maintenance in the 10 months, I took it to a Jaguar specialist in Durham which was very straight forward. No issues at all with the car apart from a tiny bit of rust underneath on a rear strut I think it was which can easily be sorted for a couple hundred quid. Will probably make a future video on maintenance etc so keep a look out. Thanks for the comment!
@bengibson1056 oh it's 100% better than 2020, the small eyes ruin the look. Cheers for the note on the service, a maintenance cost vid would be great 👍
I fully agree with your comments regarding a car needing to feel special. I absolutely love the F-Type. It is indeed automotive art. But I find myself torn between an F-Type of a Bentley Mulsanne. 2 very different cars but they both make me feel special...
Choosing between an F-Type and a Mulsanne is like picking between a thrilling roller coaster ride and a relaxing cruise on a yacht. Both incredible cars in their own right and as you say, as long as they make you feel special. Isn't the Mulsanne quite a bit more expensive?
Bought a 2015 F-Type for $43k back in 2020. Best bang for buck sports car period. AWD, V8, Supercharged, Beautiful body, what more could you ask for. I believe the v8 is around 500hp. Perfect for me.
100%, couldn't agree more. The V8 is almost a supercar in my eyes, they represent insane value for money now. Hopefully I'll get myself into a V8 next. Thanks for watching!
Solid content mate, I'm in the market for one of these, would be interested to know any issues you've had with it, plus maintenance and fuel costs in a future video!
Thank you mate, really appreciate it. No real major issues to report thankfully (after the first car). This V6S has been spot on since I got it. Only real points to mention would be some tiny rattles when I turn the volume up and a tiny bit of rust on the under carriage. No mechanical or electrical faults at all. As for maintenance, had it serviced at a Jaguar specialist, not main dealer and was around £250-£300 I think. That's all I really have to report so far. Would highly recommend getting yourself into one, however make sure the example you pick is well looked after maintenance history wise. Thank you for watching Darius!
@@bengibson1056It's been in the garage for the last couple of weeks, been using my f pace for general travel. I'm lucky to have both f pace and f type. F type makes me smile every time I look in the garage without driving it. Awesome! 😁
Personally, I think F-Type is among the last pure sports cars. It's small like old air cooled Porsches which are SYNONYMOUS to sports cars. New 911's are GIGANTIC. F-Type is smaller which (imho) sports car should be. And it looks amazing. Such a beautiful car.
be careful of water getting in through the bonnet louvres when parked up. I bought a 3rd party rubber boot mat which beautifully covered the engine whenever rain was expected. my v6s got a failed injector on the rear passenger side cylinder and it was stuck in place requiring a specialist to remove it costing 2 grand. good rear boots are a must but expensive. best car I've ever owned although now sadly sold.
Yes, had the exact same issue with the original F-Type I bought, failed injector. So when I bought this F-Type I swapped the bonnet vents to the V8 ones as they barely let anything through. Did your F-Type run okay once the specialist replaced the injector or did you continue to have problems?
Do some research. You will be fine as long as you get a car that was maintained, not abused, etc….Don’t be an uninformed Internet bandwagoner. These cars a pretty worked out, especially the latest models that have all the niggly little problems worked out. Few small bits to keep an eye on around the engine, but not a big deal…plastic pipes etc
Understandable to have worries about maintenance. I bought from a dealer in Scotland, not approved used but I made sure that the maintenance history was good!
I read some reviews, that through the exhaust "pops", altough sounding beautifully, are really bad for the catalysts. You got any experience with that?
Honest review. Bought my black 340 convert a few wks ago and love it. Handles like a train on rails and fairly economical;35 local 45 motorway. Could'nt fault previous 3l s sportbrake either. Biking days probably over with injury so F Type fills the gap very well. Xj220 if i win tonight!!
When I had my convertible I was frequently let out of junctions and had loads of positive comments!❤ When I had my Boxster I got plenty of abuse too…but not in the Jaaag!👍🏻
You can buy a better car privately from an obvious enthusiast owner. For those who know their stuff & carry out due diligence. Worse place to buy can be high street dealers offering trade-ins & auction bought ragged examples. An owner on the FB forum just posted photos of his F-Type underside. Looks like it’s been in the Paris-Dakar Rally. Trying to get it sorted from the high street dealer he bought it from. Good luck with that.
Hey Ben, great video this really is pushing me towards buying this generation of F-Type. What do you think about the V8 R vs. the V6 S? Considering both. - Drew from Austin TX
Hey Drew! Haven’t managed to get behind the wheel of a V8 yet. I’ve heard a lot of people say the V6S is the sweet spot for the F-Type, however I can imagine the V8R will really feel like a mini supercar with that engine. The V6 sounds incredible but that V8 is just something else. Keep me updated on your buying journey and best of luck!
actually in the market for this exact car with a budget of 25k, should I consider the S models more then the base? My only two key factors are that it should have low miles for a jag and no maintaince issues.
You’re in the exact position I was in then! To be honest there isn’t too much between the V6 and the V6S after having owned both of them. You can feel a slight difference in power but it’s not a crazy amount. I completely agree, lower mileage and good service history are an absolute MUST. I would recommend that you at to that list the pan roof, the upgraded sound system and an exhaust valve button (which is standard on the S). If you want some help with your car hunt, feel free to shoot me a DM on insta and we can have a chat! - @bengibson.io
I had one for a brief period and it is a beautiful car but the issue I found was the ride and road noise. On the motorway it was unbearable so loud. My point was proven when the phone didn’t really work as people couldn’t hear me over the tyre noise!
Odd, my car is quiet. I run continental 265/35/20 DWS06Plus in front and 305/30/20 in back. They are quiet.....perhaps you needed better tires.... Michelins get noisy. Pirellis (OEM) are for whatever reason not as sticky as the all seasons....
I was toying with an f type but felt it looked a bit small and short, it’s a lovely car but in the end I went with an XKR 5.0 and it’s a monster. I guess it’s down to personal preference and there is no right or wrong 👍
The daylight running led strip on the nearside headlamp on a number of these is failing after about 4 years. Cost £3.3k to replace with no recourse to dealer. And some say they then fail again 4 year later. No after market fix or replacement available. Need to factor that into the value for money....?
If that was an issue that happened with every single car then yeah you can factor that into value for money, however I think its a smaller percentage. Fortunately haven't had that issue myself but thanks for watching!
@@bengibson1056 ua-cam.com/video/KiYvWZptDFo/v-deo.html Clearly it's prevalent enough for somebody to consider starting a business to try to find a solution. Good on them, but too many if's and but's for me so I just sold up and moved on.

My brother in law has the same spec as yours had a few issues in the beginning he told me he would sell it if he had any more issues with it ! Needless to say he's still got and loves it , I would have one ❤
@@bengibson1056 bought the jag from a car supermarket I told him not to but he liked the spec but lots of missing history , had the jag for two weeks when it started missing due to fuel injectors destroying the cats , the bill was 3k from jaguar ! im holding out for a 2016 ftype r, i could get the 6 sooner than later as they are much cheaper here in Australia than the v8, but the v8 growl gets me
My fave looking car was the F type and I so nearly bought one , but it’s a jaguar and reliability issues were in my head so I bought a Honda civic type R instead , okay I’ve only got 310bhp but it’s reliable ( had it two years now and no issues ) but I still like the F TYPE looks
Yeah, I went into purchasing a Jaguar fully with the expectation to run into some problems, which I did 😂 The Type R civic is a fantastic substitute, especially with that Japanese reliability. Thank you for watching Steve!
Thanks you for the video, enjoyed it. What I would dispute, is that the F Type is a 'sports car' though. It's not. It is a GT car in my opinion. I looked at sports cars and weighed up my options for £30k max budget. I liked the exterior styling of the F Type, but the interior is pretty rubbish. Practicality is obviously not the first thing on a list for a sports car, but the F Type really doesn't have enough space anywhere to even go for a weekend away. It's a compromise car, not the fastest in the price range, certainly not the best handling, definitely not the most reliable, but it looks nice from the outside. I really wanted a Cayman, but the decent engine models were outside my budget. It IS a proper sports car though. Clarkson loves all Jaguars, for fanboy personal reasons, not because they are particularly the best at anything, so as much as I like him, his opinion is not really based on fact. I bought an OG M2, 28,000 miles, 1 owner from new, mint condition. It has a bigger boot than the F Type, it has rear seats, it handles better, it's faster, it sounds as good if not better, it's much more reliable, and in my opinion it looks even better. Surprised you didn't consider one.
M2 looks better.... sounds better......um, not in my experience. Have had both. The jaguar has proven far more reliable. The car is essentially Bosch. TRW brakes, Lear seats, and a zf8hp70 tranny tuned by Jaguar....the stuff works. I consider it a sports car, but I have it at 475hp (v6) and pulled stuff out to get it to 3380lbs....they are heavy stock. Mostly forged wheels, other covers, and a li battery. Metal coolant pipes, fluids when needed....super reliable.
@@jeffreyb.1657 It's personal preference (looks), we both have different opinions. As for reliability, the V6 is not as reliable as the straight 6 in the M2. I worked as a parts guy for Jaguar, and saw a few issues, this was backed up by the what car reliability survey 2024 which put BMW at 12th place as a brand for reliability, compared to Jaguar at 29th place (out of a total of 32 brands). Power can only be compared standard car to standard car, I could tune my M2 if I wanted to well over 600bhp. My last car an M140i was running 455bhp/634nm and had the best modern engine available the B58. The forged N55 in the OG M2 is almost as reliable.
Hmm.. I understand where you're coming from but I would definitely say my car is definitely more of a sports car with it's firm ride, two seats, performance and sound. GT for me is more like an 8 series, Aston DB model or Bentley Continental. M2 was also under consideration but just wasn't special enough to me, see too many of them around. I would agree they are faster and more reliable but I would have to politely disagree that the F-Type definitely looks and sounds better stock 😆 Thank you for watching, regardless!
I wonder how many F-Types Clarkson's responsible for selling lol. I was in the market a couple years ago with my eyes on an Evora but their values started going back up with the post-covid market. Then I ended up behind an F-Type in traffic one day and googled it, saw Clarkson's reviews, saw the prices they were going for, and had one in my driveway two weeks later.
In my view you have the ultimate GT Car for that budget or even the budget above. Ticks so many boxes. I have hired a number of F-Types, some V6 some V8 and I have to say overall I prefer the V6. Yes the V8 can sound like thunder but have to go faster to get it on song (so end up above speed limits) also the fuel consumption on the V8 is horrible, like a lot worse than the V6. Power wise like you say the V6 is all you need for the road!
It is such a pretty car ….. many high performance cars are striking but not pretty. I guess that it has to be a V6 since the 2 litre doesn’t quite cut it….imo anyway…..
Perfectly well put, “striking but not pretty” describes a lot of cars these days. Yeah I haven’t driven the 2 litre but can’t imagine it coming even close to the V6 or V8
Bit of a funny one, so it was from a motorhome dealership in Scotland. But it was the dealership owner’s personal car so he was able to sell me it through the dealership. Having said that though, you can find very similar examples for very similar money if you’re in the market!
I know right! Such a shame its not as practical without two extra seats, however being in my 20's without kids, I felt now is probably the best time for me to have a two-seater 😆
It's definitely a sad moment for car enthusiasts. Jaguar has given us some incredible vehicles over the years, and they'll always hold a special place in our hearts.
Has to be the V8, I test drove the V6s for a day, actually bought a 2018 V8r, same running cost as V6s, difference in sound & drama cannot be compared from V6 to V8, V8 all day long, enjoy which ever car you go for.
Yeah, I think I'll be getting myself into a V8 next. Though the V6S has really brought a smile to my face. Love the car. Glad you're enjoying your V8 Chris and thanks for watching!
The F-Type is definitely a head-turner! It's great to hear you appreciate its beauty. Enjoy your C300, but if you ever decide to upgrade, the F-Type will be waiting for you!
Porsche did have a couple of cars that I was looking at, though they were just a little too expensive for the type of mileage I wanted on the car. Potentially in the future though! Massive fan of Porsche. Thanks for watching!
If it's value you're looking for, you could do a lot worse than a 3.3 twin turbo V6 Kia Stinger. I paid 26k for a 2020 with 34k miles. 368bhp & 511NM. Great car.
Absolutely! The Kia Stinger packs a serious punch for the price and offers a fantastic driving experience. It's a great choice for anyone seeking value in a performance car!
Miti vac oil change in my garage is super cheap...simple. Indy service is the way to go out of warranty...1/4-1/2 dealer price. oil and filter can be 50 dollars here if you get a good oil deal...and about 15 minutes...
After some careful thought, I actually think their recent publicity stunt might actually be beneficial for cars like the F-Type.. but I guess we'll see!
All fantastic shouts! Cayman I definitely could have looked at. The R8, you’d be looking at a car that is a lot older with higher mileage which isn’t something I fancied. The W204 C63 was a shout but I just could not justify the 6.2 litre V8 consumption 😂
@bengibson1056 think if you just tell yourself it's for a year and just suck up the petrol cost etc I think a supercharger could be next up. The jag xkr 5l are absolutely fantastic value and you can upgrade the Apple play in them.
I'll sum it up in 3 words,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Unreliable modern engines. Jag in keeping up with modern regulations have done it in an unreliable way, especially the diesels. Every diesel owner I know has DPF issues. Although the v8 is fantastic when it runs and sounds brilliant. I was very tempted to buy 1 of these.
That could be one way to put it for some cars! Like I said make sure you do your research on the car if you buy one. You should definitely get a V8 F-Type, this might be my next car..
Absolute nonsense. The v8s are definitely reliable. I can’t speak with absolute authority on the v6 in these, or other jags engine wise, but a v8 f-type with the ZF trans is fundamentally solid. A friend of mine had an XE for 5 years…It was perfect.
V8 is the most reliable engine in these, far better than the 4 pots. The V6 is basically the V8 minus 2 cylinders and on the whole is pretty good. Injectors and the superchargers can be issues but no more problematic than other performance cars.
Apparently if you somewhat regularly use a fuel additive like BG44K or Redline S1 you can avoid a lot of the injector carbon buildup issues. That is what is being reported in the forums.
Thanks for sharing your opinion 🙃 you can get Caymans for less than 30k but from what I can remember you're looking at higher mileage. Could be wrong though
My lad sold his 430 BMW 6 months ago and bought a 6 cylinder F type s …It’s a 2016 with 16 thousand mile and full jaguar service history and he loves it 👍🏼

@@petesmith1924 Legend thank you man!
Enjoy it!
In reality its 2 seats and no boot and loves to go around in circles for no reason. Almost as big a piece of crap as the jag
@@smilingjack7622 Whatever you say, smart ass
Hope you’re enjoying that mustang Caine, they sound absolutely fantastic! But definitely get yourself in an F-Type if you get a chance at some point!
I have had y F type for 3 years - your mates smile is what I get every time I drive it. It's a great looking, sounding , drivable car. Good luck with your ownership
The smiles per gallon is extremely high, definitely. Hope you’re enjoying yours as much as I am Darren! Thanks for watching!
I was forever borrowing my mates Insignia estate and used to leave him the F Type, think he was more upset than me when I sold it 😂
If I had a Time Machine I’d do it all again but probably go for the 375 model.
Never get tired of that sound the rear end on them are perfect 👌
The best!
Sounds like a beauty. The manuals are hard to come by. Glad you’re enjoying yours. Thanks for watching!
You say people think the car looks worth 60 to 70k, I bought mine new a V6S in 2016 and it was 70k with a five year service package. Still have it and still love it.
And it still looks like £70k today I bet!
@bengibson1056 what 8 year old still looks worth 70k
My mates had a Porsche and a F type jaguar, the Porsche owner thought I was mad when I said I prefer the jag. I think it’s a classy looking car.
Hey, I totally get it! The F-Type just has that sleek vibe that makes it hard not to love. You’ve got great taste!
I bought one of the very first V6 S coupes off the production line in April 2014. I still have it. It’s fantastic

How rusty has it got underneath?
A car worth keeping for life. Glad you’re enjoying yours John, thanks for watching!

Yeah I’ve been hoping that the values stay strong now they have been discontinued! Thanks for taking the time to watch James! 🙌🏼
Great pick mate and overview.
V6 is definitely the best engine for this car.
Have to say id probably spend the extra for the mid life facelift (2018) as those headlights look super sharp to this day. Absolutely shocking theres not more of these on the road.
Would be interesting to hear about service/support experience, even if its not a main dealer you go to
I own the V8 Id disagree on the v6 as the best engine
Engine is not reliable better of with a 370Z
Cheers for the note on the service, a maintenance cost vid would be great 👍
Cracking video mate and an epic car, keep the f type content coming🤙🏽
Thank you man! More content incoming 🤝🏽
@@bengibson1056 An early Mulsanne (2011/2012) is now available for around £40k. £40k also gets a very nice low miles 5litre F-Type.
Bought a 2019 chequered flag v6 380 AWD with 9K miles a month ago. Love it!
That's awesome! The 2019 chequered flag is a fantastic choice. Enjoy every mile!
Couldn’t agree more. The F-Type may not be the best performing car but the way it makes you feel is what makes it so legendary.

be careful of water getting in through the bonnet louvres when parked up.
@@bengibson1056 it was all fine but I sold it regretfully as I emigrated to a country where they cost four times as much!

Love this car but fear of maintenance issues and expensive repairs. Where did you buy from? Dealer or through approved used?
I've heard similar things about all cars regardless. Haven't had any issues myself.. everything seems to be dandy.

Handles like a dream! Glad you enjoyed yours Paul!
When I had my convertible I was frequently let out of junctions and had loads of positive comments!❤ When I had my Boxster I got plenty of abuse too…but not in the Jaaag!👍🏻
It's interesting how different cars can change the way people perceive you on the road! The convertible definitely has its charm!
Yes, this is certainly possible! Unfortunately I don’t trust my own judgement enough to do this 😂
Hey Ben, great video this really is pushing me towards buying this generation of F-Type.

Totally get what you mean! That tire noise can be a real pain. At least it looks good, right?
I was toying with an f type but felt it looked a bit small and short, it’s a lovely car but in the end I went with an XKR 5.0 and it’s a monster. I guess it’s down to personal preference and there is no right or wrong 👍
Great choice with the XKR 5.0! It's a powerhouse of a car, and personal preference is what makes the car world so diverse and exciting.

The Type R civic is a fantastic substitute, especially with that Japanese reliability.

@ thanks for your response!
I would agree they are faster and more reliable but I would have to politely disagree that the F-Type definitely looks and sounds better stock 😆
Thank you for watching, regardless!

It's interesting how much influence Clarkson has, isn't it? The F-Type is such a stunning car, and it sounds like you made a great choice!
'Tis a beauty to be sure!
Certainly is! Thank you for watching Liam!

Totally agree, especially in this price range. I think the E92 M3 is a modern classic now too.
Love these , a very very beautiful car .
I'm glad you love it! It really is a stunning piece of engineering, isn't it?
In my view you have the ultimate GT Car for that budget or even the budget above. Ticks so many boxes. I have hired a number of F-Types, some V6 some V8 and I have to say overall I prefer the V6. Yes the V8 can sound like thunder but have to go faster to get it on song (so end up above speed limits) also the fuel consumption on the V8 is horrible, like a lot worse than the V6. Power wise like you say the V6 is all you need for the road!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! The V6 really does offer a great balance of power and practicality for everyday driving.
It is such a pretty car ….. many high performance cars are striking but not pretty. I guess that it has to be a V6 since the 2 litre doesn’t quite cut it….imo anyway…..
Perfectly well put, “striking but not pretty” describes a lot of cars these days. Yeah I haven’t driven the 2 litre but can’t imagine it coming even close to the V6 or V8
private sale or from garage? that price is really really good.
Bit of a funny one, so it was from a motorhome dealership in Scotland. But it was the dealership owner’s personal car so he was able to sell me it through the dealership.

Since the jaguar rebrand fiasco, I bet used Jags are available for peanuts. Now no one wants to be be seen dead, driving a Jag.
Market for F-Types is still pretty strong after checking today, thankfully. Thanks for watching!
Wouldn't be seen dead in a jaguar after that advert
It's interesting to see how ads can really shape our opinions on brands. Thanks for sharing!
It's a very special car.
Absolutely! It really is a unique piece of engineering that stands out from the rest.
Lotus Evora should have been on the list, too.
Great shout! But to be honest maybe a little too race focused for me to daily
I had the 400 sport which I sold because the main dealership would try ripping me off every time,I've had four Jaguars never again
Yeah dealership maintenance can be a bit expensive..
Miti vac oil change in my garage is super cheap...simple. Indy service is the way to go out of warranty...1/4-1/2 dealer price. oil and filter can be 50 dollars here if you get a good oil deal...and about 15 minutes...
They just got a LOT cheaper, too :D
Maybe!
Not anymore 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
After some careful thought, I actually think their recent publicity stunt might actually be beneficial for cars like the F-Type.. but I guess we'll see!
V6 is problematic. Prefer the V8
I’ve heard good things about the V8 reliability. I might look at getting one next!
You literally don’t know what you’re talking about.
Ws thinking this is a bargain the other day.
Certainly is!
Cayman, r8, c63
All fantastic shouts! Cayman I definitely could have looked at. The R8, you’d be looking at a car that is a lot older with higher mileage which isn’t something I fancied. The W204 C63 was a shout but I just could not justify the 6.2 litre V8 consumption 😂
@bengibson1056 think if you just tell yourself it's for a year and just suck up the petrol cost etc I think a supercharger could be next up. The jag xkr 5l are absolutely fantastic value and you can upgrade the Apple play in them.
It's no MX5.....
Nothing lives up to the MX5
Will be even cheaper from now on!
Woke ads will do wonder for the value of Jaguars.
Maybe! We’ll see!
Very beautiful unreliable car......
They should have used a Nissan VQ37 instead
Some can be unreliable, but if you shop right I think it can work!
People like this are why it's cheap, keep spreading that word please.
I'll buy one when it's cheap enough
Shoulda woulda coulda.
Jag is done for
How do you mean? Going all electric?
Well good luck with your road tax, Labour just doubled it.
They doubled the new car tax. This car isn't new.
@@ianhortonplant Ah thats good to know
@@angelmedia9051 yeah I freaked out for a moment too before I found a post explaining it!
Its 735 for the old V8...similar to many v6 like 370Z and GTR
Thank god it’s for new cars. I was worried there also, the £500/year road tax is already enough 😂
Very lucky ❤ in Oz these are still overpriced 😊
It’s interesting how prices can vary so much around the world! Hope you’re finding some good deals despite that!
Absolutely lame as car, Cayman S slaps and yes you can get them for less than 30k
Thanks for sharing your opinion 🙃 you can get Caymans for less than 30k but from what I can remember you're looking at higher mileage. Could be wrong though
Horrendous 3D Number plates
Thank you!
You need to dress up not down.
Me? 😆
Great sounding car. Your wallet may divorce you soon. All the best.
This is a very fair point 😂 though the V6 may not be as bad as you think..
ye ye ye
