Can we take a second to appreciate this guy i mean he actually shows the testing he replies to almost every comment and he makes the manufactures heads explode. If there was a creators award he would get the highest level
This motorkote test was amazing. This is something I've got to try. I'm amazed at the length you go to test these products and I put more trust in your tests then the manufacturers claims.
I could not have been more skeptical of MotorKote's claims nor more shocked at your water test result! This was by far your most astounding test yet. :)
My late father had heard of MotorKote on a late night trucking show and immediately purchased a deal containing 2 gallons of product and 4 aerosol cans of a penetrating oil sharing the same name circa 2007. He used it as prescribed and seemed satisfied with both products. He passed away in 2010 at 59. I, being his only son, got everything including the Motorkote and used it as sort of a tribute until it ran out about 2017 or so (yeah 2 gallons will last awhile on 2 vehicles and a lawn mower). Anyway, I had never been thoroughly convinced of the products effectiveness Tonight, as I worked on the lawnmower, I just let UA-cam guide the way and here we are. I feel obligated to see what the special are and rekindle a forgotten tribute to my daddy.
100%! CR is bought and paid for by their sponsored product reviews. CR is also responsible for fake shifts in CVTs that make them slower and more prone to premature failure because 60-80 year olds need to invent things to bitch about in order to justify the expense of their subscriptions.
The world needs judges like this guy…. Not paid off…. Not corrupt to be re elected….fair and balanced trials with nothing but fact… no emotions…this guy is one of the best most informative people on UA-cam period!!! Nice Work as always!!! @@ProjectFarm I truly love all the content of your videos and am happy to report…. The WIX air filter on my 98 Chevy Tahoe with 340k runs better than ever and the oil is staying clean!!!! Thank you for what you do!!!
Wow! I don't ever take additive claims very seriously, but MotorKote's performance in the tests you did for this video have really impressed me. Once again you've done a great job testing products and presenting results. Thanks for the vids, keep em coming. *:D*
Dsdcain Walmart had a bottle on sale from 30 for 8 and I bought it figured since it was so expensive it has to have some truth and it got rid of the timing chain rattle on cold starts on my Ford 281 4.6
That the engine ran that long without oil is really astonishing. I was expecting 15 minutes max before it seized. To have run for a whole hour on water and then it be hard to tell if there's actually any damage or not is genuinely amazing.
Who would have guessed that a can of sea foam and an old ford ranger would have came this far. Have enjoyed every one of your videos, this is the best channel on UA-cam by far. Keep up the good work brother.
Project Farm good thing we found the right man to test things like this out, right here on UA-cam! Although it's not scientific, the way you do your testing makes perfect sense. And, you never fail to amaze me!
Project Farm but when your wrong its a good thing for everyone . Thank you for finding this product and testing it. I've used all the others, especially prolong , and will be using this from now on. Any extra life out of an engine is worth the extra $25 for this product. Engines are expensive- as everyone knows .
Tell you an interesting story about my introduction in MotorKote. When this product first came out maybe 10yrs ago + or - . A friend of mine was machining some parts and he was trying to drill a hole into a block of steel on his press and kept on breaking carbide drill bits (very expensive) even though he was lubricating the bits. He had a bottle of MotorKote and we all said well lets try this stuff and he dipped a new carbide brill bit in MotorKote and the bit went through that steel block like butter!! We could not believe what we were seeing. He did it several more times on the other blocks with the same results and the bit was as sharp as ever. Just another use of MotorKote.
I'm one of the viewers that has asked for motorkote videos. I've used it in my tractor trailers, personal vehicles and lawn equipment. I've always seen a difference in temps on my driveline guages in the trucks and assumed it was doing it's job. Even oil analysis has shown good results. I knew you would put it to the test and prove if it was working or snake oil, but I didn't expect what I just watched! I enjoy your videos and will continue sharing! Keep it up!
It's great to hear from those who've used the product. Lots of questions remain about whether or not it will cause sludge or become acidic over time. Did Blackstone do the analysis? If so, any issues with oil breakdown or acidity?
I can't remember the company that did the analysis. It's been years ago. The analysis always came back as new oil, even with a lot of miles on it. No acidity problems and when I got into the engines there was no visible sludge. The reason I believed in it was my gauges. There were notable differences in engine oil temp, trans temp, and differential temp.
I am floored. Excellent, thorough testing. I thought for sure the engine would have scoring in the cylinder walls after running for an hour with only water. This is by far the most impressive result I've seen from a product on your channel.
I have been using Motorkote for several years now and I really believe in this product. Everything from 70s Dodge Vans, boat motors, Gravely Tractors, Lawnboys, snowmobiles etc. I've had several impromptu tests. The first was a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am with about 150,000 hard miles on it that had all kinds of noises coming from it. I listened as I poured the specific dose into the running engine and to my surprise it got quiet! Second, was a mid 90s second hand Lawnboy 2 Cycle lawnmower that I purchased in a lot. It had the death rattle from day one and had slop in the shaft bearings. Well, whats done is done I figured so I decided I would mix a little Motorkote in with the gas every now and again and try to get what I could out of it. That mower ran 5 seasons for me due to what I feel was the Motorkote. Now, the test ended abruptly with it throwing it's connecting rod probably due to being repeatedly overheated and overstressed. Not good in some ways. The stuff is so good at what it does it could actually mask symptoms. The last test was my 1987 Yamaha Phazer snowmobile. I usually thow a little Motorkote in the gas tank and oil tank just as insurance. Well, two Winters ago it paid off. While out riding I noticed my exhaust pipe getting super hot. I thought perhaps a rodent had built a nest in it and it was just burning off. Well, about two miles more and I noticed a great loss of power and the heat was intense. The motor was not locked up but let's say it was tight. The oil pump on the oil injection system had quit unbeknownst to me! Thinking quickly I dumped the entire contents of the oil tank into the gas tank and waited for it to cool down. It started up and I ran it home at least 5 or more miles like that. Next day I performed hot and cold compression tests only to find that everything was still in specifications. Stuff smells really strange when it's burned in a 2 cycle and will probably end up killing me but it works! I'm not embellishing my story a bit. I mean I'm not surprised at all with your experiments. I have it in everything I own. Every third oil change on my street vehicles. I don't know what else to say. Seeing is believing. The Motorkote demonstration was enough to get me interested. The only time I would not recommend using it would be break-in on a new engine. You need heat and friction to seat piston rings etc. Good stuff folks! I'm not a paid endorser just a user.
ez round btw my uncle owns an airport shuttle business and on one of their Ford E-250 Econoline vans they have 1,050,000 miles on it it rolled over it’s odometer a little over a year ago at 999,999 and now has around 50,000 miles on the odometer so that’s 1,050,000 the van still runs like a champ with zero issues original motor and transmission no major repairs just standard maintenance although my uncle never has used motorkote before just standard synthetic motor oil
"I'm going to run this engine for an hour with nothing but water in the crank case to test MotorKote's claims." MotorKote Representatives: *Spits out coffee* "What the WHAT?!" *Begins to sweat heavily* "The engine survived. I didn't find very much metal contamination at all." MotorKote Representatives: *Cheering and celebration*
This is by far the BEST VIDEO you've done! I've spent many hours searching for the best friction reducers over the years, having tried so many but not ever knowing if it really is helping. This Motorkote is impressive. Seeing is believing. That hour water test was fantastic! Thanks a ton! Now comes a request. A year ago I came across NMF Friction Reducer. The videos on it are impressive, but if YOU were the one to test this out with your engines approach, I think it would be great. I'm currently using it in my Chevy Silverado 4x4, and am curious if it was money well spent or not. Meanwhile, I'm going to check out this Motorkote stuff. Thumbs up x 100!
I'll definitely test NMF in a future episode. I really wish I could ramp up video production. I have lots of awesome video ideas from those leaving comments!
Project Farm Yeah man, it’s funny, I look forward to these videos more than anything on tv... take that as a compliment, even though most of tv is crap. Just keep doing what you are doing.
The water test is a nice new addition. I keep thinking of things I want you to test, then I realize you've already thought of it. Now I want to see how long the engine will run on 100% motorkote, then drain it and see how long it will run with nothing in the crankcase. Keep up the good work.
With how well this performed there’s no way not to get two of those harbor freight engines and try it. I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t make it further than anything else he tried in the past.
WOW ! The proof is in the Project Farm experiments. I would not have believed that the engine would run with water in the crankcase(by that I mean for anything like an hour, with normal temps etc.) The lack of any metal flakes(of any destructive size or number) in the filters, exonerates any claims made by the company. I would not use this product in my Cummins diesel ( I follow what Cummins recommends) but I have another venerable vehicle that I would be prepared to use it in. Another marvelous test, complete with the usual Project Farm series of provisions to minimize testing errors. I STILL want the contract tpo supply you lawn mowers ! Thanks again for a truly informative video. BRAVO ! Well done !
I'm a semi driver I heard of this about 12 years ago I put It in every 3rd oil change in a cat c15 i put over 2 million miles on did oil samples every 2nd oil change the sample always came back good i am a complete believer in this product
Thank you very much for commenting on this. A lot of people have asked about sludge and acidity, but 2 million miles, backed by oil analysis is indicative of long-term results. Do you send your oil samples to Blackstone Labs?
Midnight radio network! Lol. This is where I've always heard it and offered this suggestion (along with others) to this channel because of this. I've used it in my daily driver and always seemed good about it. I also will start using it around the house as the commercial states after seeing this tests. Awesome job project farm.
Mark w I've been a diesel mechanic for almost 20 years, I've seen a lot of guys run this stuff and it's pretty damned expensive. I always figured you guys were just blowing good money on snake oil products but I guess this proves me wrong. I'll definitely start running this in my race car after seeing this.
Mark I'm glad you left this comment. I have a 09 ISX that I used this in a couple years ago with no issues. I just bought a c15 BXS in April and I was wondering if it would work in that. I think I will throw some in there.
Im a diesel technician since 2004 and I remember they used to sell this at the truck stops at sat brothers and drivers were claiming they were gaining 2/10 of a mile extra by using it years later I started using it cause it does work. Later on I purchased gmc Acadia 2008 and had the engine replaced not long after and shop installed OLD OIL PRESSURE sensor and started leaking oil not even 100 miles on my engine. I changed installed new from napa 60.00 oil pressure sensor and 6 months it leaked out ALL my engine oil but, i run a royal purple, moterkote, synthetic lucas mix and i didn’t notice tell i seen oil on ground and oil was a dot on dip stick i had drove at least 60 miles with 2 qts of oil on my new 3.6 and temp rased a little but always came back down. This stuff works and ill keep using it!
I love the youthful curiosity with which you test and quantify the results. It strongly lends itself to the intentions of the work and also the honesty of the conclusions that are drawn. Good stuff ! Too bad the business community won't try as hard as you do !
At almost 70yo I've worked on everything from model Ts on, and I had long ago given up hope of ANY additive of any kind ever working out. Like many people, I figured good SAE oil was about all you could do to protect an engine. Your test may have renewed my hopes. Many times I've worked on motors and such where the degree of friction was THE determining factor for longevity. Since I no longer work on anything except my own stuff, it's all pre 80s and mostly used and recycled blocks and what not, I really need friction protection. Thank you for an excellent video test that is "real world" believable. Keep up the good work, and I'll keep coming back. 👍👍👍
To run an engine with water instead of oil is outrageous-- I love it, and a study with such "unusual" elements conceived by your brain doesn't surprise me at all, esp/ after watching dozens of your other videos.!!! If this is your idea, I actually was quite surprised the engine survived 60 minutes - I was secretly waiting on it to seize up. Maybe you could do this same experiment using Duralube. Your videos are in a category by themselves, and I have to admit that they're quite addictive, for starters.I have used the results of quite a few of your vids as a guide when purchasing certain items. I've used Supertech Synthetic oil for over 20 years and your comparison study only reinforces my belief that this oil is truly a bargain. Keep up the fantastic job you do, and regards from Louisiana!
If you look at UA-cam videos how Amsoil produces their oil in additives that they add to it and compare that to supertech and less Amsoil produces at 4 supertech? If they follow the same guidelines then I could probably say that majorities as synthetic oils are probably going to be just fine
I've watched nearly every single one of your videos(will finish them all eventually) this has to be the absolute most impressive bearing test EVER. not to mention the results from the mower.
I have a series 60 Detroit in a 2000 Freightliner and run Motorkote in it as well as a (Golfcoast) bypass oil filter system instead of changing oil. I have over 350,000 mi on my oil and still clean. I change the bypass oil filter every 10 to 15,000 mi and engine oil filter every 30,000. And put Motorkote in it every 50,000 to 60,000 mi. An oil analysis is done every time I change the bypass filter. I have been told it's one of the cleanest Detroit's he is ever seen. And it has over 1.8 Million miles on it and only had the oil pan off twice. Once for a rear main seal and once for a bullgear at 1.7 Million miles. And for a diesel engine it is remarkably clean on the inside with very little soot build up. In fact when oil was new after the bullgear it was over 15,000 before it turned black, as diesels normally do.
Jerry Wick it cleans oil way more than normal filters Golfcoast goes down to 1 micron which filters out large soot particles that is very abrasive to an engine. Regular oil filters does not filter much of this particle because if they did they would plug up and starve the engine for oil. However in a bypass system the oil flow coming out of the filter goes right back into the oil pan. Hence the name bypass filtration. It just takes a small amount at a time out of the main oil flow and filters it constantly. Some people make all these and oil Refinery system. But really all it does is just clean the oil a lot better than a regular oil filter and when you change the Gulf Coast system oil filter you have to replenish 3 gallons of oil which replenishes The additives. And this is also why you constantly do oil analysis. This is to tell you when your oil actually needs to be changed. And in some cases with this system there has been trucks out there with over a million miles without an oil change simply because you are basically changing the oil every 45 minutes as far as keeping it clean. This is also the reason why a diesel engine with a bypass filteration system is usually a cleaner engine. And in comparison when both ways have been done properly. (Change your Gulf Coast filter every 10 to 15,000 miles and your engine filter every 30,000 miles compared to changing your oil every 30,000 miles) the engine has always been shown to be cleaner with the bypass system.
You still need to change the oil on a regular basis. Engine oil becomes acidic as it reacts with combustion byproducts, it doesn't matter how good your filtration system is. It will begin eating away at the engine.
Will S. Every 10,000 miles 3 gal of makeup oil fixes that problem when I change filters and the oil analysis would tell me if the acid is getting high and it has never shown high in fact it is always lower than it was when I was changing oil every 30,000 miles. That oil analysis also checks for any abnormal wear and the engine by checking for wear medals. And my where rate is actually lower than normal where rates. Otherwise I wouldn't have 2 million miles on that engine and over 1.2 million miles on the overhaul
Hi folks. Yes, the 'ole geezer gear head' here again, I know., I've been AWOL for a while. . Just figured I'd check in again on this subject. I still have my 3/4 ton, '02' Ford E250 van, with a 5.4, 2 valve, untouched engine. It now has 326,000+ miles on it. At 77 yrs. of age, I am still doing my own service work on it. And still using the MotoKote additive, plus Mobile1 10/30 full synthetic oil. Age has slowed me down a bit. Not doing as many of the long distance trips that I was doing before. But, I was convinced, after seeing, many times, Project Farm's thorough testing of that product, that it was worth a try. I have been very satisfied with the end results. Thank you Project Farm.
I’ve been using it in my peterbilt with a 550 cat motor. Just had a inframe rebuild at 1.7 million. The mechanics were amazed at the cylinder walls. The rebuild was due to a head problem. While they replaced it I went ahead and had a gold kit done. Looking for another 1.7 million miles👍🏻
@@armobyzantine5881 The gold kit is everything new from caterpillar. Head, injectors, water pump, oil pump, turbo's (if twin turbo), pistons, liners, all bearings, rings, and I think they do out of frame to check block. I know I'm leaving some stuff out but you get the picture.
@@ProjectFarm this might not be your intent but this video really helped in deciding motor kote is by far the best. Even Lucas could learn some things from motorkote
we know, but we are also skeptical and you do what we wish we could do with these products! So it's nice to see you find a good product because we know it'll be good for us.
2020 was the year I became a MOTORKOTE Disciple...I'm a believer and have bought just about every product for Gasoline engines..All three of my vehicles are treated with Motorkote Engine Additives..👍👍👍
I just checked out the prices of motorkote products on A****n. Prices are a bit steep, but your vid goes a long way to help justify the cost. This is some surprisingly good stuff.
I just bought seven 32oz jugs at Walmart for $7 each. Good luck. Most are out of stock I past like 6 Walmarts. Pro tip limited stock means they probably don't, but might have some. In Stock means they do. Still had to hunt in the store it was in the clearance section in automotive. Also these had a $5 mail in rebate that expired in 2013 lol
I gotta say, when I want to know how a product performs, I always search Project Farm. Thank you for all you do, your time and effort and all that this channel costs you.
He sold me on Motorkote when he made the video. Motorkote should have sent him a jacket and a hat at least. Lol. I run it in 2 pickups. 2 tractors lawnmower and a 1200 Harley. It's the bomb.
Ole '60s big block gear head', hear again. Please, don't all the negative folks out there, roll your eyes. Oh, and I don't drive 100 mph either. Although, I have, and faster, many years ago. Before fuel prices went through he roof! Last week, Oct. 31, 2018, I decided to add 3 oz. of MotoKote to my 313,000+ mile E250 Ford extended VAN untouched (other than me changing filters) transmission. Just for the hell of it. Now, I don't have another vehicle. So I only have one to drive. And, being an OLD(50+yr.) mechanic, I listen to every sound this thing makes. This small(3oz.) amount of MotoKote definitely made this old transmission shift more positively. (not that it was bad. but it was better after adding the MotorKote). Again, I thank Project Farm for such a thorough product test. At my age and experience, I'm not easy to convince. But I'm pretty sold on MotorKote.
Very nice! MotorKote has a huge following in the trucker world. Several truckers mentioned using it with great results in driving 1 million plus miles. Thanks again.
Papasmurf7597 - glad to hear someone used it in their transmission. Since the product claims it can be used, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it in that way.
@@Sno6403 Ole Geezer gear head here. To answer your question, its still running just fine. Now with 327,000 mils on the untouched 5.4, 2 valve V8.(not driving around as much as I used to, with this damn pandemic and all)
Just saw this older video. While the video is still great, the quality of your work has greatly improved in the 3 years since. Congrats on all your hard work and accomplishments on youtube.
Thank you again for making this video, I have been using MotorKote in my cars since you posted this. I own 3 cars between 100k miles and 280k miles, 2 things I have noticed so far my miles per gallon went up tiny bit 1 - 2 mpg and the winter tic I would hear on my 1999 Grand Prix and the 2006 Grand Prix has gone away. I mix it with full synthetic oil and change it every 5000 miles, easier to remember that way when your changing on the 5's. I also add a 2 ounce of MotorKote with every oil change so some is always in there protecting my engines. Use it in my lawnmower as well. I recommend your channel to all my friends and family.
@@Dan12gt i add 2 ounces every oil change and that's for 5 quarts so for 8 qts 3 ounces should work well. for the 1st time use use 16 ounces and run for full 5000 miles. just broke 350,000 miles on the 1999 grand prix, engine runs great. to bad my main body frame is dying from the salted road rust/rot. might have made it to 500k, still could if I'm lucky
@@YukiNeko-Neko thanks so much, I use my car as a daily driver and I want to drive it until the wheels fall off, also these 5.0 engines are known to burn oil, it burns approximately 2 qts every 5k miles so I want to see if these makes it burn less, hopefully!! Thanks
@@Dan12gt if you are leaking oil (from worn seals)or burning oil(From worn rings and/or valves). I don't think it will make you use less oil, Motorkote lessens friction and coats parts to protect them to last longer.
Just bought some motorkote myself. This channel is the best. I have an old 01 buick with a lifter tap, so additives are probably the only reason its not dead yet. I used BG44k, Justice brothers, and now I will try this. I figure it cant hurt based on what I saw in this video. Thanks for making these great videos
I have to say I'm absolutely stunned with the results. 1 hour with water as oil and the motor survived and did not lost compression... Hard to believe but you demonstrated it's true. Moreover it did not lost compression !! I'm buying this stuff straight away, I'll use Restore first, then put this thing to the oil on my high mileaged Audi RS4 B8. Thanks a lot for your precious work.
I've been using motorkote in all my vehicles (all 3 are high mileage) ever since I watched this video. I know these people dont pay you, but they should.
@@Tyler_Owen23 Since I don't see a reply, here is what I do - the only way to prevent sludge is change the oil. No additive can prevent sludge from forming, any helpful chemical that does that is already in the oil. Sludge is caused by the unavoidable moisture that gets in the engine oil. Some additives claim to REMOVE sludge after it's formed, which I don't really believe. The only way to keep sludge at bay is change the oil. No additive that I've ever used, seen or heard about, changes that fact.
@dannywalters1548 oh, never saw this comment. Never has any issue. I've been using motorkote in everything from my lawnmower to my old Jeep Cherokee. Stuff works great.
I’d say 95% of the time I have an idea how PF test results are going to go. Not this time. I was a little shocked. “We’re only going to run water in the crankcase for an hour” 😳
I'd love to see you test Rotella T 15W-40. On the ATV forums many people swear by it, and I have actually been running it in almost all my quads for years.
Hey @ProjectFarm ! Could you revisit this (and possibly others) with your new oil testing methodologies? I'm wondering how it and others stack up against the best synthetics. As a Canadian, its really nice to see those new/cooked cold temperature performance test too! Thanks for all your hard work, and have a Merry Christmas!
Because of this video and your truthfulness I've seen in all your videos, I just went and bought 32oz of Motorkote myself. Usually I don't fall for any of these engine snake oil "additives" or "friction modifiers", but because you tested it with no help or support from outside entities, I had to jump on board and try it out myself👍. Keep on with your awesome &truthful videos! 😎✌️
00:47 - For a moment, I thought the data sheet said 2,2,4 trimethylpentane, but it's actually "2,4,4 trimethylpent-1-ene" which is an alkene, not an alkane. The former (2,2,4 trimethylpentane) is the standard used for the 100 octane rating (RON) for petrol. That's why I got confused because it looks similar. C8H18 vs C8H16. Chemistry gets confusing very quickly! EDIT: Not sure why they included it in the additive, though. Alkenes are reactive hydrocarbons and like to polymerise under high temperatures. It's how they make plastics like polyethene, polypropylene, etc. Perhaps the chemical is able to penetrate deep into the machinery in a non-polymer state, then under higher temperature it'll polymerise, causing a polymer layer between components. Just a complete guess from a non-chemist! Probably completely wrong! LINK: www.lyondellbasell.com/globalassets/documents/safety-summaries/diisobutylene1.pdf?id=15702 Found out some more info on it. :)
Interesting read, thank you! Also worth noting, that PolyIsoButylene Amine is a fuel additive in gas and diesel fuels for deposit control. I love the chemistry
THANK YOU for finally showing the potential of Motorkote. I'm one of the older Master Techs in my 40s and have used it for quite a while now. I even use it in the hydrostat of my GT series Cub Cadet that gets used very ruggedly like a quad besides mowing acres weekly. Keep up the good work/fun having! I dub thee "Southern MacGyver".
I just put some motorkote in my car engine. Thanks for making these tests, I bought this because of how impressed I was with your testing. This stuff really reminds me of those old Slick 50 oil commercials. The commercials where they would have the engine running and drain the oil while running.
Slick 50 works it saved my car when the oil sending unit cracked and I lost all the oil I drove the car with no oil for about 1/2 hour. Motorkote is even better been using it for over 20 years. Neither one ever plugged up anything or ruined it
I'm running out to buy MotorKote tomorrow. I wonder how it mixes with these crazy lite blends they run nowadays.. like 0w-20? Great video, love how you keep it real
PLEASE test more of this Motorkote stuff! It's almost too good to be true. Would be especially interested in seeing if it has chlorine like so m any are saying. Would be interesting to see how it improves the top 5 oils from your showdown! ALSO, You should do the friction test for ALL of your oils with the post hotplate oil to see how much the protection changed after excessive heat. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
Yes the chlorinated element MOTORKOTE is alleged by do many to contain if you could test for this and show what it contains would go a long way in proving that your not payed to promote. And also a list of the chemical content after a 3000 mile run with motor oil sample test. I did notice you have not personally used MOTORKOTE in any of your own vehicles?
Just blown away by the results!! Crankcase full of water for an hour!!!! WHAT.....? That's just crazy and the stuff worked!!! Great Video and presentation! Both Harvard and Yale should give you Masters degrees!
First of all, thank you so much for making another highly educational and entertaining video! Your production quality is amazing! Also amazing is this tested product! Wow!
As I was working on an engine the other day I thought about something... How well does motorkote protect other metals in an engine other than the steel a bearing is made of used in the lubricity test? In a typical engine there is aluminum, iron, chrome plate, brass copper bronze and other various alloys subject to wear that are oiled. Valve stems are a different alloy, bearing races are not the same as roller bearings, the piston rings are not the same metal and the sleeves, a timing chain is a different alloy than the drive sprockets they run on....ect ect. I think a good Morotkote torture test would be to run the lubricity test on a bunch of different metal samples using motor oil vs motorkote treated oil.
@4:00 that coloration in oils is almost a sure fire way to determine there is a wax in the additive. Wax also helps explain how it repels / isnt affected by water
Yes, I was surprised by it. I'm told that this additive is used by a lot of truckers. Locally, the nearest truck stop sells the product, but it's not available in the big box stores nearby.
Appreciate all your great videos and testing. I know you tested Motorkote quite a while ago and it seems that Motorkote has changed their formula a bit and the Oil seems to be a lighter and thinner than when you did this testing a while back. It would be nice to have you retest the most recent Motorkote formula... Thanks for all your thorough testing. Great videos!
I have watched every video you have done and this is the most impressive test I have seen. I am simply amazed that this product works this well. I will have some before dark. Chief
same here, watched nearly every video. This one had some impressive results. Im doing the first oil changes on both my lawn mowers tomorrow, one is for sure getting some motorkote. Thanks for the awesome videos and wacky test. It gives me great ideas on how to kill mowers i dont like :D
Wow, that was impressive! I'm like you, I don't trust exactly what an additive says. But this video and other videos where you tested these products, help us know we're not wasting our money on these certain products! Anyway, keep up the good work!
If a product has been tested to earn the PF Seal of Approval, it's certainly good enough for me. The test with water in the crankcase was incredible and certainly showed the product lives up to it's name, Great Video!!!👍
wow! that lubricity test though! im amazed that this product worked so well. so now we know the special cocktail.. seafoam, marvel mystery oil, engine restorer and motorkote!
How about testing TurboMaxx? Then TriboTex that reverses engine wear. These are both nano particle products. I use these products in my Ford Super Duty 7.3L Powerstroke Turbo Diesel. 302,000 plus miles so far. Runs great.
I'd be more for a amsoil motorkote sauce mix than use seafoam or marvel, they are both outdated for their designed uses and work better as cleaners than as high pressure lubricants. Sea Foam I know is naptha based which is a powerful oxidizer, usually used to speed up oil based enamel paint cure time. As for Marvel, I know of engine builders of flat head engines liked to use it in the coolant system to get the bolts out of the heads... fill the coolant system full of marvel and run it till its hot, head bolts and water jacket bolts come out much easier without snapping them. Sea foam we've seen it work as a cleaner as Mr Farm tested, also saw restore bring a tractor back to life, as for marvel, I just wouldn't go around putting stuff in your crankcase, especially newer engines that was first marketed in the early 1900's.... 'shrug' but if you have an engine you don't care goes boom, do your own testing like this guy, this guy does amazing testing, i look forward to every video... especially oil ones.
The pertinent question is, why aren't the components of motorkote and the like already added to premium oils? Massive research budget oil firms will know this stuff works and works well. There must be a reason. Would it unbalance the detergent properties? If so does adding motorkote benefit friction but reduce cleaning? Thoughts?
I can think of a few possibilities: a) too expensive b) alters viscosity too much (fine for heavier oils, ultra lightweight (0w-xx) oils like those used in modern engines with vvt might become very difficult to formulate) c) oil manufacturers have no clue how to replicate its properties in a cost effective manner (im sure motorkote put a lot of r&d into the product given that it legitimately works) d) it may not make any financial sense to add it (oil manufacturers can already make claims like "reduces friction/wear" without actually having a superior film strength)
My two cents: It would raise the cost of motor oil which would negatively impact sales. Motor oil already meets or exceeds established standards, so why bother trying to make it better - apart from synthetic. That said, I just ordered a bottle for my car and my motorhome.
for the same reason the oil companies don't want autos getting 100 miles per gallon..they would sell far less fuel. MotorKote type additives would also probably effect the auto industry (less engines/ cars sold) as well as the dealership maint. and oil change industry. it's benefit vs cost
Holy cow the work you put into these videos! Very well done ... two thumbs up! There isn't anything more you could possibly be doing to sell your points.
Alas some companies have somethings the general public should not know, must not know. He just needs to the Banking crisis, derviatives, money of account and scutisation and faractional reserve lending and the walls would come tumbling down!
Hey, awesome work man! I love how thorough you are with the tests. How about Archoil ? It seems like it's in the same category as Motorkoat and Bestline.. How about a showdown between the best additives you have tested. Very cool stuff man, I think I speak for the majority in saying this is exactly what we want to see. Thank you
Thank you for saving me time and money by testing all you do. I now have consumer confidence in and what to purchase to keep my equipment running longer and better. Keep up the good wrk.
After watching this i started using it in my 2013 range rover, it not only took the timing guide noise completely away it improved the fuel economy by a couple mpg! What a great product and thank you for real time testing! It works!
Do a test where you run MotorKote in an engine then drain it and run the engine dry until it throws a rod. Then compare its results to your previous additives tests!
Project Farm I was also looking at MotorKote’s website. They have other products such as spray lubricants, sludge removers, fuel optimizers, and motor treatments. If you do any videos in the future involving additives it might be worth including them in your sample.
Got an old Dodge Dakota that's been running on motorkote now for 5 years no oil pressure at idle. Bought another truck for the engine figured why change it as long as this one still running. Really figured I'd change it by now but other than the oil light coming on in an idle and the oil pressure gauge going to zero you'd never know anything was wrong with it. And before you say anything the oil pressure gauge is a mechanical gauge not the electrical gauge it literally has zero oil pressure at idle and only about 10 lb going down the highway. And yes I have worked this truck on more than one occasion. In fact it actually pulled the donor truck home that has its engine replacement in it 4 years ago. Just happened so that was the truck that I weighed on a truck scale and a Truck Stop on a bet that Dad thought we was overweight. My exact gross weight was 11,960 lbs. I believe that worked that v6 pretty hard. And it really didn't care.
This is why I love your UA-cam channel. Testing out oil additives to show if its really worth it and Motorkote is truly good. One of the most interesting video having to do with oil additives.
My moto is that if you've got something to show, then you've got nothing to hide. products that don't list their ingredients and/or tests done on them aren't trustworthy to me. For my clients, I always provide pictures, videos and explanations. Great video once again.
I’ve been using this in my dd15 For years and 1.5 million miles later the inside of my motor still looks and acts like new even gets longer life on my turbo
Impressive! Thank you for commenting on your experience with this product. Have you ever had oil analysis accomplished for acidity? With 1.5 million miles, it seems clear that the product is fine, but some have concerns about sludge/acidity.
I had I pre egr dd15 525 hp. I’ll tell ya it’s not the most powerful or the most glamorous but if you treat them right they just don’t quit and if they do used parts are as cheap as a damn Chevy... I’m a huge dd15 fan I’ve had cats and Cummins my old cat 550 was certainly more powerful but it was always in the shop and you couldn’t give me another Cummins, they’re boat anchors.
Ole Geezer Gearhead here again! Don't everybody roll your eyes!! NOW, at almost 80(next birthday) I'm still changing my own oil and greasing the front end, of, you guessed it, my '02' Ford E250 3/4 ton extended van. with a 5.4, 2 valve engine. AND, I'm still using Mobil1 full synthetic oil, and MotorKote. The van, now has 339,000+ original miles. On an un-touched engine. Other than normal maintenance. I've owned this vehicle from 153,000 miles.
I have used MotorKote since 91. It saved my Bronco 351 engine when I lost the oil pump. It worked so well I didnt notice the oil guage for atleast 5 miles at city traffic speeds and temps. Have used it in many engines since.
They should seriously buy this video from you for a few million dollars! Wow! What a testimony to their claims!!! I’m always skeptical of these snake oil claims but your video made me a believer. I use Lucas on my older vehicles. But now I’m second guessing that choice. You put this one through the ringer my friend! Great job! Thanks! Keep up the amazing work!!!
I added MotorKote to my car 3,000 miles ago, my smart now has 80K miles, had Blackstone test my oil at 51K miles and it had next to nothing in it (metals, fuel, chemicals). I think I made a good choice. :)
This was the information I was hoping to find out. I wasn't sure what the oil would be like after a few thousand miles. Thank you for commenting on this!
2008 smart fortwo, mercedes product, 3 cylinder 1 liter mitsubishi engine. the smart is a mutt, japanese engine, german transmission and french body. i will add this to my next car, whenever that is.
I saw that the Archoil oil additive makes some big claims and I would love to see it it vs Motorkote vs Bestline vs whatever else you've found to work in a super showdown!
Can we take a second to appreciate this guy i mean he actually shows the testing he replies to almost every comment and he makes the manufactures heads explode. If there was a creators award he would get the highest level
Thanks for the nice comment!
WOW!! Can you test motorboat and red line oil treatment?
LOLOL
def in my top 5 fav youtubers. dude's killin it. THANK YEW @ProjectFarm
Thank you for the positive comment!
agreed!!!!!
Well i now know what to put in my car next time I do an oil change. Do they have this for motorcycles?
WOW!! Very impressed. Wouldn't put in an engine with less than 30000 miles for break in purposes. I am sold.
brick house how does hydrochloric acid damage an engine? Is it The rubber seals or the bearings? In curious now
My late father had heard of MotorKote on a late night trucking show and immediately purchased a deal containing 2 gallons of product and 4 aerosol cans of a penetrating oil sharing the same name circa 2007.
Thanks for sharing!
You're more comprehensive than Consumer Reports, and not biased like them. Love your tests!
Thank you!
Absolutely! We come here to get the truth unadulterated and that's rare these days. Keep up the great work we appreciate you. Stay safe and God bless
Consumer Reports stinks. They were relevant 15-20yrs ago. Not anymore. JD Powers is far better in my experience. -MI
@BIG MAC Avoid anything Consumer Reports says. Been shown to be irrelevant an compromised!
100%! CR is bought and paid for by their sponsored product reviews. CR is also responsible for fake shifts in CVTs that make them slower and more prone to premature failure because 60-80 year olds need to invent things to bitch about in order to justify the expense of their subscriptions.
It appears Motorkote liked the results of your tests because they’ve added your video to their website.
Thank you for letting me know.
Yup! Right here: motorkote.com/pages/videos
They should pay him royalties for it
MWB Gaming I don’t think he would accept it since he wants to remain unswayed by royalties or payment by any of the companies
@@TheRealDarkzxi well the payment would not influence the results of the test since the video has already been recorded and uploaded
The world needs judges like this guy…. Not paid off…. Not corrupt to be re elected….fair and balanced trials with nothing but fact… no emotions…this guy is one of the best most informative people on UA-cam period!!! Nice Work as always!!! Super Heroes don’t wear capes… they just get their hands dirty…
Thanks!
Thank you!
Yes i always thought these additives were quackery....i was wrong
Dsdcain Walmart had a bottle on sale from 30 for 8 and I bought it figured since it was so expensive it has to have some truth and it got rid of the timing chain rattle on cold starts on my Ford 281 4.6
That the engine ran that long without oil is really astonishing. I was expecting 15 minutes max before it seized. To have run for a whole hour on water and then it be hard to tell if there's actually any damage or not is genuinely amazing.
Thanks for sharing.
Who would have guessed that a can of sea foam and an old ford ranger would have came this far. Have enjoyed every one of your videos, this is the best channel on UA-cam by far. Keep up the good work brother.
Thank you very much for the positive comment! By the way, the Ford Ranger is still doing great!
I only hope my retirement will be this interesting.
Exactly how i found his channel lol
Man, am I satisfied with your testing on this. You really went the extra mile to put Motokote’s claims to the test.👏👍
Thanks!
what the frick? an hour with only water in the crankcase? my jaw actually dropped! that's amazing!
I was certain I'd destroy that engine...I was wrong...again...
Engines are expensive- as everyone knows .
when UA-cam outlaws engine channels, Project Farm will become an outlaw :-P
DocRox - Couldn't agree more. Luv the PF channel but a control engine is desperately needed here exactly as you said and for good reason!
Thanks for sharing.
Cool story bro.
Thank you
I have been using Motorkote for several years now and I really believe in this product.
Impressive results! Thanks for commenting.
I got 1.25 million miles on a Detroit 14 liter and have never had a head bolt out of it yet. Still runs great and still has power.
@@kenbowser5622 whattt really??
Yes old engine without vvt may be fine
ez round btw my uncle owns an airport shuttle business and on one of their Ford E-250 Econoline vans they have 1,050,000 miles on it it rolled over it’s odometer a little over a year ago at 999,999 and now has around 50,000 miles on the odometer so that’s 1,050,000 the van still runs like a champ with zero issues original motor and transmission no major repairs just standard maintenance although my uncle never has used motorkote before just standard synthetic motor oil
This guy is the man. The only one I trust on UA-cam. THANK YOU!
You are welcome!
"I'm going to run this engine for an hour with nothing but water in the crank case to test MotorKote's claims."
MotorKote Representatives: *Spits out coffee* "What the WHAT?!" *Begins to sweat heavily*
"The engine survived. I didn't find very much metal contamination at all."
MotorKote Representatives: *Cheering and celebration*
LOL! Funny!
Right? 😂
im dying XD
HAHAHAHA!
😂
Awesome! Thanks!
Project Farm You're doing an awesome job.
Project Farm Yeah man, it’s funny, I look forward to these videos more than anything on tv... take that as a compliment, even though most of tv is crap. Just keep doing what you are doing.
Tvt green google that
The water test is a nice new addition. I keep thinking of things I want you to test, then I realize you've already thought of it. Now I want to see how long the engine will run on 100% motorkote, then drain it and see how long it will run with nothing in the crankcase.
Keep up the good work.
Thank you for this recommendation!
That sounds like a good idea
Was thinking same thing.
With how well this performed there’s no way not to get two of those harbor freight engines and try it. I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t make it further than anything else he tried in the past.
Recommended the same test. I love his dry engine tests. Hope he does a Bestline vs. Motorkote.
BRAVO ! Well done !
Thanks so much!
Project Farm. No I sent them off to cat for analysis I don't know from there. Sorry
Motorkote makes a lubricant spray, fuel injector cleaners, and fuel optimizers... Please test them.
I would like to see that as well!
up!
Same
this
Yes
I'd like to see how this stuff improves the top 5 oils from your oil showdown.
Thanks for the video idea.
@@ProjectFarm please do this.
Definitely!!
Thanks for the feedback.
I love the youthful curiosity with which you test and quantify the results. It strongly lends itself to the intentions of the work and also the honesty of the conclusions that are drawn. Good stuff ! Too bad the business community won't try as hard as you do !
Thanks for the feedback.
Thank you!
I just love how you approach testing of the products. You sir are VERY IMPRESSIVE 😅
Thanks for the video idea. Thanks, will do!
Wow, thank you!
Wow! This is very impressive! That's a lot of use/mileage on oil. Thanks for commenting on MotorKote.
Never heard of the bypass system you mentioned, will be doing some research... interesting!
Thank you *Project Farm* !!!
Thank you!

Thanks for sharing.
What is a gold kit ?
Different rebuilt kits for cat like bronze silver gold and platinum, platinum kit most expensive and contain all parts.
Every rig that I've seen with 4-million or more miles on it, had motorkote in the diffs, Trans and engine.
That was insane! I am totally shocked, and i am hooked on project farm! Thanks for the entertainment yet again.
Thank you!
You just sold a crap ton of motorkote.
That's not my objective. I test products to determine if they deliver on the promises made by the manufacturer. Thank you
So true, I'm on Amazon right now, lol.
Mine came in today. It's going in my motorcycle, truck and mowers.
Thanks for sharing!
I wish you taught my shop class back when I was in high school, you do the coolest stuff!
Thank you!
I just checked out the prices of motorkote products on A****n. Prices are a bit steep, but your vid goes a long way to help justify the cost. This is some surprisingly good stuff.
bill myke Walmart sells it too.
I agree--it's expensive!
Per treatment, it's cheaper than Bestline. Still though.. No additive's, or Bestline/MotorKote only.. :)
I'd rather pay for something that actually works than throw money away on snake oil just because it's cheap.
Just as shocked as everyone else. Whoever recommended this test is well ahead of the curve!
I greatly appreciate the many test recommendations for the product.
I gotta say, when I want to know how a product performs, I always search Project Farm. Thank you for all you do, your time and effort and all that this channel costs you.
You are welcome!
Well, nothing much to say but I'm sold. Haha their sales are gonna go way up due to this video. Like others said, I've never heard of this product.
Thank you!
It’s well known in he trucking industry and people have always claimed increased mileage and build intervals.
It has been on sale/clearance at Walmart , I recently purchased 3 bottles at $6.50 ea.
I knew I should have invested in stock before recommending it
My dad has been using it for a couple years now, and after seeing this I'm more than impressed as well as fully convinced of what it claims to do.
I think you just sold a million units for them. I went out and bought one:)
Thank you. It's a great product.
Did you do the same test in a motor without adding motorkote?
I may be about 5 years late to the party, but I just bought a bottle too.
@@ProjectFarm
How's your van running?
@@Sno6403 Ole Geezer gear head here. To answer your question, its still running just fine. Now with 327,000 mils on the untouched 5.4, 2 valve V8.(not driving around as much as I used to, with this damn pandemic and all)
Just saw this older video. While the video is still great, the quality of your work has greatly improved in the 3 years since. Congrats on all your hard work and accomplishments on youtube.
Thanks!
I really enjoy your practical approach to testing. I'm sure it's a challenge to devise tests that reflect real-world conditions.
Thank you!
Impressive results! Thank you for the feedback
My car takes 8 qts how much would say I should based on your experience?
Thank you!
You are welcome! Thanks for the feedback.
I've been using motorkote in all my vehicles (all 3 are high mileage) ever since I watched this video.
I know these people dont pay you, but they should.
Thank you!
Have you noticed and sludge? I’ve got an old blazer with 300,000 miles so I don’t want to damage anything
Any problems yet. Looks like you been using it for 2 years
@dannywalters1548 oh, never saw this comment.
Thanks for the feedback.
What a find interesting about PF is he doesn't go about saying " Hey this product I just tested is great, you all should go out in buy it "
I find great interest in your site thank you. I would love to re-test after using about 5,000 miles to see if the MOTORKOTE is still effective
Great suggestion! Thank you.
You Sir are a test God!!! I cannot say enough how happy I am I found your channel! Thank you again for kicking butt!!!
You are welcome!
It’s great that someone is out there testing oil’s! This is keeping companies on the up&up good job 👍
Thanks!
I'd love to see you test Rotella T 15W-40. On the ATV forums many people swear by it, and I have actually been running it in almost all my quads for years.
Great video idea!
I run it in my harley and duramax. With lucas*
I've ran it in my CBR1000F for about 4 years, and also in my old farm truck (85 466 bbf) for around 7. Pretty good stuff for the price, imo
You are welcome! Merry Christmas! Thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks, will do! Thanks for sharing.

Found out some more info on it. :)
Internally it looks like it made some kind of mayonnaise. All emulsified oil n water mix. Especially that stuff he had to filter 3 times.
Thanks for the link!
You're welcome. Thanks even more for the video!
Jim Griffiths your hypothesis sounds plausible ! The bearing test kind of proved it .
LOL! Thank you!
That was pretty amazing! One of the more surprising results I’ve watched. Great work, keep it up!
Thank you very much!
I just put some motorkote in my car engine. Thanks for making these tests, I bought this because of how impressed I was with your testing. This stuff really reminds me of those old Slick 50 oil commercials. The commercials where they would have the engine running and drain the oil while running.
Thank you!
Thanks! Thanks for the suggestion.
I’m a firm believer in Motorkote. This just confirms my faith in it. I appreciate this video very much, thanks!!!
You are welcome!
Great suggestion! Thank you
And: Will the engine survive the water test without Motorkote? We don't know, so let's find out!
@@rusdean229 You obviously don't watch his videos.
up up up!!!
Just blown away by the results!! Crankcase full of water for an hour!!!! WHAT.....? That's just crazy and the stuff worked!!! Great Video and presentation! Both Harvard and Yale should give you Masters degrees!
Thanks for watching.
First of all, thank you so much for making another highly educational and entertaining video! Your production quality is amazing! Also amazing is this tested product! Wow!
Thank you!
Wow! Above and beyond. I was skeptical about the claims of this product but your extreme test have proved me wrong.
Will motorkote prevent transmission slips or is Lucas transmission fix better?
That was quite impressive. It seems to do exactly what they claim it will do. Thanks for the video.
Thank you!
Which like he said, is rare.
The MotorKote did pretty good! Really unexpected.
Yes, I was surprised by it. I'm told that this additive is used by a lot of truckers. Locally, the nearest truck stop sells the product, but it's not available in the big box stores nearby.
Autozone used to sell it
Awesome!!!! Been waiting for months!!! Keep up the awesome video!
Thank you!
Chief
Thank you!
same here, watched nearly every video. This one had some impressive results. Im doing the first oil changes on both my lawn mowers tomorrow, one is for sure getting some motorkote. Thanks for the awesome videos and wacky test. It gives me great ideas on how to kill mowers i dont like :D
I’d like to see the economy test in the generator or see if it adds top speed to your go cart.
Thank you for this recommendation!
It should reduce internal friction, so efficiency and power should increase.
Wow, that was impressive! I'm like you, I don't trust exactly what an additive says. But this video and other videos where you tested these products, help us know we're not wasting our money on these certain products! Anyway, keep up the good work!
Thank you!
If a product has been tested to earn the PF Seal of Approval, it's certainly good enough for me. The test with water in the crankcase was incredible and certainly showed the product lives up to it's name, Great Video!!!👍
Thanks!
What about dish soap as oil?
Thank you for this recommendation!
Benjamin Mann with Dawn the worry is gone
haha thats what been thanking for awile
Project Farm I bet dawn strips off any lubrication left and it siezes quickly . But a lot of the time I am wrong.
Dang thats an interesting idea haha
wow! that lubricity test though! im amazed that this product worked so well.
so now we know the special cocktail..
seafoam, marvel mystery oil, engine restorer and motorkote!
These all seem to be legit products that work.
Project Farm do a torture test with all the products together? Or head to head?
Each of those products are made to do something different, so comparing them would be pretty pointless.
Probably because MotorKote is a private company that can make more money by selling their product seperately
@brewsqui EXACTLY the reason. Because it works too well!
Video with the most honest test I've ever seen. Here in Brazil, this seems to be the best additive for motor oil. Thanks for the test and dedication.
You are welcome!
Holy cow the work you put into these videos! Very well done ... two thumbs up! There isn't anything more you could possibly be doing to sell your points.
Thanks so much!
Started using Motorkote after this video. MOTORKOTE this is how you do PR, give this man all of your products to test for free.
Thank you
Thank you for this recommendation!
Thank you for saving me time and money by testing all you do. I now have consumer confidence in and what to purchase to keep my equipment running longer and better. Keep up the good wrk.
Thanks, will do!
After watching this i started using it in my 2013 range rover, it not only took the timing guide noise completely away it improved the fuel economy by a couple mpg! What a great product and thank you for real time testing! It works!
You are welcome! Glad to hear!
Do a test where you run MotorKote in an engine then drain it and run the engine dry until it throws a rod. Then compare its results to your previous additives tests!
Thank you for this recommendation!
Project Farm I was also looking at MotorKote’s website. They have other products such as spray lubricants, sludge removers, fuel optimizers, and motor treatments. If you do any videos in the future involving additives it might be worth including them in your sample.
I second that. My bets are even longer than Lucas oil stabilizer.
Agreed, motorkote vs Bestline please!
This is why I love your UA-cam channel. Testing out oil additives to show if its really worth it and Motorkote is truly good. One of the most interesting video having to do with oil additives.
Thank you!
My moto is that if you've got something to show, then you've got nothing to hide. products that don't list their ingredients and/or tests done on them aren't trustworthy to me.

Great video once again.
Great point! Thanks!
How do you like the dd15, is it as good as other Detroits?
I had I pre egr dd15 525 hp. I’ll tell ya it’s not the most powerful or the most glamorous but if you treat them right they just don’t quit and if they do used parts are as cheap as a damn Chevy... I’m a huge dd15 fan I’ve had cats and Cummins my old cat 550 was certainly more powerful but it was always in the shop and you couldn’t give me another Cummins, they’re boat anchors.
Sorry I forgot... I only had a fluid analysis one time and yes they were all good but that’s cause I am strict with my fluids
That's what I was hoping for. Some insurance on the turbo life! (3.5 Ecoboost)
Grate video!!! Keep up the great “independent”work you do us a great service.
