That is the one huge downside to the older vehicles. Most of them get terrible MPG's. I still have a 2005 diesel Excursion for my 6 kids but it is cheaper to take two modern cars. Mostly just use it for camping and family vacations where we all want to be together.
My 2003 Toyota Highlander is my daily driver. It has 409,xxx miles with no major repairs EVER and is VERY reliable, has never let me down. I’ll replace it when it dies.

Otherwise easy driving, trouble-free and low maintenance.

I did it to an SUV of mine about ten years ago. It worked fantastic. Just takes a little while. Any time some shop does it, the steering wheel ends up not perfectly 12 o-clock or it tends to pull a touch one way or the other. They never want to take 5 extra minutes to make everything just right.

Bruh. I’ve had 4-5 dodge chargers…
Years from 2006-2015
Out of all of them. I kept my 2006 3.5 engine and outlasted all my other chargers and most reliable car I ever owned 😂😂😂😂
Picked up an 04 Yukon 200k miles and I’m hanging onto that for a while…. As with all my used cars I buy…. I always start with the engine maintenance, then suspension … then body, paint, new wheels, window tint stereo etc etc etc so if you got a .. classic car/truck and u like it, go for it
Based on the cost and low build quality of new vehicles these days that vehicle was definitely worth the cost and effort to keep it going, don't change anything on your channel, it's one of the best on UA-cam.
stop spreading misinformation, newer cars are built way fucking better then older vehicles were, especially compared to some piece of shit GM product, the real issue is that everyone on the road today is a fucking idiot who refuses to do proper maintenance, i see way too many people who refuse to use synthetic oil because "HUR DE DUR, MY DADS DADS GRANDPAS DAD SAID SYNTHETIC OIL BAD, SO I ONLY USE DINOSAUR OIL." then proceed to go way too long between oil changes (you can do 5000 miles on synthetic, NOT conventional, conventional oil is 3000 miles MAX, no matter how you drive, syn oil can do 10,000 if the vehicle is designed for that, AND you drive all highway miles, if you do any city driving at all, you do not quality for regular maintenance schedule, and MUST follow the severe service schedule, which is 5000 miles between service) and then their motor has some major issue, and then that same fucking idiot is all like "FUCKING *BRANDNAMEHERE*"
MAINTAIN YOUR CAR CORRECTLY, AND IT WILL LAST LONGER THEN ANY OF THOSE OLD PILES OF JUNK, GUARANFUCKINGTEED (except chrysler and all their sub brands, but they've always been unreliable pieces of trash, so that hasn't actually changed either)
What this dude said. 💯
Yeah, money well spent. That’s the best generation of Chevrolet SUV ever made, and one of the best LS platform engines.
Smart man to keep it alive. It’ll outlast newer ones.
Older vehicles do WAY worse in crashes though. You're far more likely to get seriously injured in an older car even though they're heavy.
Absolutely
This is honestly peak Project Farm - you've tested almost everything you've used, so all of your old testing can be referenced for why you use what you do.

Its crazy that you don't accept sponsorships. You are a real youtuber that wants to keep good content without a potential issue.
Corporate sponsorship and advertising are what has ruined the internet. Are you old enough to remember the internet before corporate america got their grubby hands on it? Project farm knows that sponsorships would destroy his channel. Just like it has destroyed the internet.

It wouldn't bother me if he took free products, I trust he wouldn't change.
I have 210k on my 2003 Suburban. The wife keeps asking for a new vehicle, no way. This is one of the most reliable/cheap to fix, comfortable spacious vehicles still in existence. Yeah, MPGs are a bit of a struggle and I WISH it had at least a six speed for towing, but it does it all well enough.
Super proud of you and your channel, I've been subscribed since you had 13k subscribers, amazing work pays off.
2024 suburban has not changed much. mostly sheet metal and touch screens
That is the one huge downside to the older vehicles. Most of them get terrible MPG's. I still have a 2005 diesel Excursion for my 6 kids but it is cheaper to take two modern cars. Mostly just use it for camping and family vacations where we all want to be together.

brah is straight-up SAVAGE, That alignment with cinderblock , string and tape was the SH*t

Old school ways arent always as convenient but most times are just as good, if not better, than the technologically advanced ways of doing something.
@@UserFormelyKnownAs_hjkh They still can't figure out how they built those pyramids of Giza, and perfectly aligned with the poles of the earth.
A plum line using a string and weight is still just as accurate as anything man will ever try to "advance" over with any kind of technology.
So wheel alignment also makes perfect sense in this context and isn't surprising at all.
@@HAL-dm1eh exactly. I was taught this method by my grandfather many years ago, though i just use jack stands, and have been doing it ever since. As long as caster and camber stay good, its a great way to set the toe on a vehicle. Cheap, easy and accurate. Now thats hard to beat!

@@ProjectFarm I did like your 2 plates with grease technique though. Plexiglass is expensive so you might be able to do the same with hardboard. I think I saw somewhere use using trash bags. You could do a whole video on that stuff alone. But that's not really your style. One thing about working on cars like this though, Mine is a 2006 Beetle and everything is basically the same, except everything is done just a little bit differently.
