Yes my shower does leak at the same spot you showed in this video BUT even more so it sprays a lot of water from the Hose leading to the Handheld unit. I like to use the handheld towards the end of my showers to rinse off down below but as soon as i turn the knob on the wall to activate the handheld unit the hose part just gushes and sprays water every which direction and barely any water makes it to the handheld unit itself because it's all coming out of the hose before it can reach the handheld. Why is this happening ? I hate it when I can't take a proper shower because of this issue and it is getting worse and worse with each shower. Making a watery mess too cause it sprays out of the shower it's so bad. Please Help !
Very cool, and awesome job making it a DIY project. We appreciate you taking the time out of your weekend to share this, enjoy that rewarding feeling as well as the money you saved. 😁👍🧰
Thank for watching, awesome job making this a DIY project on your Saturday morning. Where exactly is it leaking? It’s almost always due to an offset inner rubber seal that has the screen attached to it. Removing handle and readjusting inner rubber screen seal is a good idea. As you put everything together, make sure the rubber screen seal doesn’t get offset, crimped, or unaligned. Did you apply Teflon tape to thread? Please keep us posted. Thanks for watching, any update? Did you apply the Teflon tape in the right direction so it doesn’t loosen as you tighten shower head onto threaded pipe? Applying it in a clockwise application is best. Applying it in a counter clockwise application will again, loosen tape and create leaks.

@@undefined000 Thanks for watching. A few things can cause a leak, including an offset/crimped/worn out rubber seal or the fitting just needing to be wrapped with Teflon tape.
Thanks for watching & absolutely. You can purchase a replacement rubber O-ring/seal that has a screen built into it at your local hardware store. Check out the link below, it shows a picture of the seal with the screen you will be looking for. amzn.to/3yaMjnV It’s best to remove your old seal and screen and take that to the hardware store to match it up to the correct replacement size. Keep us posted Anita.
Good morning Delora, it’s likely that your internal seal and screen are slightly offset or crimped in a way that it’s allowing water to leak past when unit is moved and positioned in a specific way. Following steps shown in this video will likely solve the leak all together. Keep us posted. @@DIYwithMichaelBorders I went back and redid the tape - realizing I previously placed it counterclockwise. I only did 3 layers, ensuring to get it in the grooves. Wallah - thank you. Thank you a great deal. ❤
I'm used to doing metal showerheads with tape and all. This new shower head is plastic and delta says not to use the tape on their product or it will void the warranty. I can't stand plastic to metal applications. But can I use the tape because to damn thing is still leaking. 😡

With this style of joint the seal is between the o-ring and the shower pipe. The threads are just used to cause the showerhead to compress the o-ring into the lip of the pipe. They don't recommend the tape because it makes the pipe larger and can break the fitting (which is weak because it is cheap plastic). Some plumbers lube on the o-ring will allow it to slide smoothly on the pipe as it turns to get tight. Make sure your pipe end is nice and smooth with a good sealing surface. I believe Mr. Border's fix worked because he reset the o-ring seal properly with his very smooth compression. The tape and threads should never touch water and should not be needed.

Not a useful video if something goes wrong, such as difficulty disassembling "frozen" parts, mineral deposits that don't simply brush off of the threads, or still leaking after completing the steps in the video.

I have done all of this and my replacement is still leaking. Any other tips?
Hi! What if it is leaking on one that was newly installed with the amount of teflon tape provided in the showerhead kit?
Thanks for watching, any update? Did you apply the Teflon tape in the right direction so it doesn’t loosen as you tighten shower head onto threaded pipe?
Applying it in a clockwise application is best. Applying it in a counter clockwise application will again, loosen tape and create leaks.

I thought yellow tape was for gas and white tape for water?
That tape is for gas fittings not water lines.
Yes, but that tape should never see water since the seal is at the o-ring/pipe interface.
I put the tape on in the wrong direction and now I’m out of tape and it’s still leaking😩
