It's shameful. In this whole situation, she was the one to cause distress, fear, and suspicion. The kids themselves were afraid that they'd say something wrong and get Mr. Lewis hurt. Did the children appear to be in distress or afraid? Did they try to make eye contact or was their body language suspicious in any way? How insulting is it to have a stranger approach you in this way. Her sole reasoning being race. Were they crying or attempting to escape the vehicle? This woman unnecessarily put those children in harms way. She said, "and if I'm wrong, that's great." She had no idea how the police would respond to this call. This situation could have gone south real quick, and then what? We have seen enough video's of people losing their life over less. Losing their lively-hood over less. Losing their freedom over less.
It's shameful. In this whole situation, she was the one to cause distress, fear, and suspicion. The kids themselves were afraid that they'd say something wrong and get Mr. Lewis hurt. I get that the world can be a dangerous place, but her justification wasn't that the children were clearly distressed, hurt, or scared; it was that a black man was with white kids and she felt that it was strange. Have you or a loved one had feelings of racism? Ask your doctor about common sense. Side effects include: not being a hindrance to society and higher situational awareness.

@Undoubled Mango Another assumption by another moron. You people bore me.
A friend has two biological children. People are rude and actually question them about the boys. One is white w/curly blonde hair and the other one is black w/curly hair. People assume they are not blood brothers. If one parent has both children people will ask if one's adopted, etc. Dumb people in this world can really hurt a child's feelings and don't care.
"There's a black man within 20 feet of a kid that isn't black, something is obviously wrong."
Froggyman145 or even a mixed kid.. I have two kids both mixed and my daughter has much fairer skin than my son, you should see the looks I get in public. I’m light skinned myself and the questions and looks I get from white people are RIDICULOUS
She could have looked at the body language of the kids. News flash kidnappers don’t usually parade the kids around Walmart and open parking lots full of cameras. A little common sense could have ceased this mess. 🤬
EXACTLY!
Would u say it
Right like if he kidnapped them why would he take them to subway and parade them around?
YOU RIGHT +10
A little common sense would suggest some intelligence beyond that of a mindless pile of flesh from the caller. The most intelligent thing the caller can hope for in their life is not shit themselves when the see a person who looks different than themselves.
Good job to that reporter for staying so cool and calm. I'd have been furious

My brother and his wife adopted two babies from China. Years later, his wife passed away from cancer. His two daughters are teenagers now. He was grabbed by police at a park where they were just sitting on the side of the river, enjoying the nice weather. His daughters were taken from him, grilled, asked if they knew him, who was he, and he was grilled for a while and had to prove they were his children. Fortunately my brother loved his wife and had lots of pictures in his wallet of them with the babies, toddlers, and when they were nearing teen years. Still he had to keep talking to the police and his daughters were separated and grilled. He moved away after that happened. It scared him so bad. He thought he was never going to see his daughters again. This happens in America. Think about it. What would you do?
He should've sued those officers for everything they own.
"The land of the free" apparently not for black people.

What's most crazy about this crazy story is the white woman felt entitled to question the children at all. I mean she felt justified to go up to children she didn't know to interrogate them...membership has its' privileges
You can do it too just so you know. It's not a privilege to walk up to someone and ask them a question whether they choose to respond or not is their choice.
@@adamcochran1309 That fact that she felt emboldened to do so just because they were white. The kids look like her, so she was all fired up to play superhero and swoop in to save the day. She frightened them with her constant questions and following them around. She was wrong and could have gotten another innocent black man killed behind her bigotry. She had a feeling? No she didn't. The kids weren't filthy or distressed. I'm not trusting anyone who walks up to me out of nowhere asking questions. Meanwhile, she has pulled the police away from doing real police work. If the kids were black, she wouldn't have said a thing.
@@adamcochran1309 I'm pretty sure that THAT is exactly what privilege is... The fact that a black person can't do that cos just like this lady did, I'd like to see a black man walk up & demand to question a random white girl without a white person calling the cops on his ass.
I've seen that happen more times than you would think, But I'm In the Baltimore area where that Is common place(Black man questioning a random white girl and no one even bat's an eye). I'm Just trying to help by pointing out that whatever privilege you think the average white person has the average black person has or can exercise too. The thing stopping Black folks now is an illusion a thought or belief that you can't do the same things. "Free your mind and your ass will follow" - Funkadelic Edit: and you know one more thing, raising your children to fear police (which there fear of an officer came from somewhere) isn't good, raise them to be able to BE the police.
@@adamcochran1309 "The thing stopping Black folks now is an illusion a thought or belief that you can't do the same things". I know you're coming from a good place when you say that but can I tell you, if you've been watching the news lately, that it's not just an illusion but a reality for black people that they can't do the same things as white people without repercussions. Remember the black girl at Yale whom a white lady called the cops on for taking a nap? Remember the Real Estate guy? Or the black teenager at the pool? Remember the black people at the park trying to barbeque? And the black girl selling lemonade? Remember the black kids mowing the lawn? And the black lady with her son at her apartment pool? How about the black guy trying to get into his own apartment? Or the black guy sitting in his own car after dropping off a friend? May I go on? Even the stories that don't make it to the news, you could certainly watch for yourself here on youtube. Yes, in an ideal world, blacks can freely live their lives without fear of harrassment that could potentially lead to their death... But it is not an ideal world, neither is it an illusion for black folks. Wake up, these things are real!
On a different note, I agree, black people should stop being afraid of cops and start being THE cops. 100%

Big props to Steve the field reporter revealing his own experience and how the facts can be misconstrued by people.
