Years back my son and I were shopping Walmart, right after working his lawn care business, so we didn't look our best. An "associate" was following us pretending to be a shopper. It started to upset son, but I told him let me do something. Didn't want son buying into that trap. So I approached man said "were shopping same things today. What do you think about this or that"? He barely talked, acted like he was moving on. I did this every aisle we were in. As we were checking out, him still watching, I loudly said "ok security man following us for an hour, after check out we're going to customer service. Come on ,keep up " some around us laughed, he left mad or or embarrassed, not sure which. We returned everything, said no longer want or wrong product, whatever for reason.
Went to Target across street, in/out no problems.

I have met someone like Williams many years ago in my own youth. They did as little as possible whilst on shift but made bogus complaints about customers simply to make it look like they had been vigilant and on their toes the whole time. They were required to fill in a register on the hour every hour of anything that happened of note within the store but when you read the register back, in comparison to all the other shifts that were quiet and un-eventful, this guys seemed to have dramatic things going on all the time. It was after watching the CCTV footage of those so called incidents that management realised that it was all fantasy. Needless to say, the guy never made it to his third week.

Loss prevention in general is a liability and they cost their company WAY more than the total value of assets that they recover. Walmart wasn't expecting the guy to win since unfortunately, most lawsuits against retailers are dismissed since the judges are in the retailer's pockets. WinCo Foods, Gelsons, and Nugget Markets are a few such examples. On the East Coast it's Bealls and Market Basket.

Not really. There is big difference. True, the shop guy did bend the truth when he was saying the guy could not have missed him, but it seems to have been a genuine misunderstanding. Also, the cops were the ones more at fault in that situation. In this, he didnt even have a paltry excuse as to why he was being trespassed. The only interaction was him asking why he was being followed.

While it would appear that Walmart may be “boot licking”, law enforcement officers are routinely hired to be security guards at various businesses.
Giving them an accessible, designated location for the emergency vehicle does make sense.
This also eliminates excuses for them parking on the sidewalk and blocking access to the store by customers, handicapped, or vendors.
I did politely explain to an officer once that the hash marks next to the handicap spaces weren’t for his patrol vehicle, but were for the wheel chair ramps of the handicapped vehicle.
