It would be interesting to see Chris help a designer to land a client in real time, maybe telling them what to reply in their emails and breaking down what gets said. Awesome video as always!
For me personally, just selling a website/app to a client would be interesting since it's my line of work. But any creative job would do because it would be applicable to multiple situations
I like how you're teaching every designer to raise their price. You're increasing the market value for all of us this way, and we can only increase it if we do it together and say no to low prices.
Bracketing is giving a range of price, the highest point is your anchor and what you should say first. The key here is not to sell, but to frame your client's prospective, and let them pick the price (which is probably gonna be high since you used anchoring with the highest point) then work around this high and profitable territory you just created to close the deal. That's what I got from these 7 mins..
I am slowly starting to get it...after watching these videos for about 3 years. I think the the hardest thing to get is not what to say in those moments, but the state of mind/confidence you need to be in those moments. Than, the words come out naturally, ❤️
Of course not Chris! There is always some nugget of knowledge that I am discovering in your videos. But for someone who has binged watched the channel for a while, I do sense some degree of „upcicling“ of your business content. I wish there was less ABC and more real live cases and examples.
The Futur alright Chris! Let me figure out a couple of things first. I will write you on Facebook messenger when I know more about what questions I want to ask and what is the best way to do this logistically. Thank you for the opportunity.
This is insane, coming back to see this again after 2 years. This had helped so much in running my own business. Come back to see this at a different point in my career, it still helps me growing. Thank you Chris and the team.
I can relate on what you said at around 6:25. When you said you got excited and maybe built something (in your head) that the client might not even need. It's a habit that I have whenever I am introduced to a project. My brain automatically thinks of some features that I might put in the project. It might be a good thing at some instances but I'm guessing not in this kind of scenario. By the way, thanks again for this Chris! Excellent video as always! :)
Thank you for the knowledge bombs! Love not only the design and business insights, but really enjoy the philosophies, mindsets, and approaches you take towards life. Have a great weekend Futur family!
Chris Do, i’m a painter by trade , it’s been 3 months i decided to work my own leads & grow from there . I love helping people i don’t look for a sale profit i bring value to them . i’ve been following you close to a year. Today was my legitimate estimate using your technique especially this one on this particular video. i just close my estimate with my client anchoring with a higher bit and he came down to my charge . THANK YOU CHRIS
I wish I had found you years back! I've listened to so many other sales / negotiation experts, with their explanations and stories seeming like an eternity in comparison to what your videos deliver in under 10 minutes. I think the fact that you role play with the people gets the message across on point. The key is, I believe, you allow in the role playing, people to make their usual mistakes (those that most of us make) and then back it up and play it again as it should be. The idea, the knowledge goes from abstract to something one can identify with... learning from other people's mistakes.
Totally agree, I find in these type of situations is where we as the students get the most value from. It's like watching a Gary V keynote I just skip to the Q&A because that's where all the meat and potatoes are at!
@@thefutur the rueful comment was because, in the past, I was working in digital design / web development and struggled with many of the things your channel covers and provides clear solutions for. However, I've moved on to a different creative field, that of Fine Art, but, there is still much that is relevant to what I now do. So, yes, I'm looking forward and set to apply what I'm learning from you. Thank you!
It was awesome to see those people thanking Chris at the end, I would definitely *try* to give him a big hug because of how much of a great mentor he has become for me. Greetings from Venezuela folks, I love your work, wish I can meet you guys IRL someday and hang around talking about problem solving, people, money and doing crazy stuff!
this is really good Chris. I'm working as an architect/ problem solver in a developing country, where people build their homes from a contractor. They think they can not afford an architect. But when they do appoint one, they are very calculative about if the architect is trying to rob their money for some lines on a sketchbook. Learning how to deal with clients from you is very helpful for me.
I'm glad to see people older than me taking your advice Chris, sometimes I feel like I'm too old to start all over, even when I have a lot of experience I feel like being old is some sort of a crime on this industry, and I'm only 35.

Damn I'm learning so much from watching these Videoes, every one of them has at least one tip that really opens my eyes. Wish I knew this stuff when I started out about a year ago. The "anchor high" tip is really good, I usually give a bracketed price range. And the client always try to negotiate to the lower number. Now I will defintaly try switching it up and see if I get better success. One thing I was way to afraid to do was give a big number, that would could make my client freeze up and say "that's just way out of our budget" and break contact. But now I've gotten the confidence to ask higher numbers, and generally negotiate down to a price that is still much higher then I usually would get before. Love this channel, you've already made me earn over $4 000 and I've only been watching a month.

6:05 Chris gave a price range of $30-$60k and the client countered with $45k, which is within Chris's price bracket. What if the client said their budget was $5k instead? How would you convince the client to increase their budget to $30k-$60k without selling? Based on the video, one option is to refer them to someone else and hope they like you enough to come back eventually. What is an alternative method that keeps the ball in our court?
Hi, I’m a designer from the Philippines just bought the Perfect Proposal from The Futur. I’m new to this and just like to clarify. I don’t get the difference on why Joe screwed up already cause he’s selling. Joe 5:44 What price would work for you? vs Chris 6:17 How much can you afford?
The last "trick" is awesome just said you are excited and you charge something big because you wanted to do this and that then just lower the price since it's too expensive and voila. Simple but it should work to avoid the trap of somebody who never discuss and try to sell super low no matter what just to win the bid. I like simple. Simple get implemented. Simple make sense.
Excellent lesson with a ton of value, as always! Although I got confused in the end - isn't the 45k sitting right in the middle of the given price bracket of 60 to 30k?
I know this video is older content (still relevant), but is there a full version of this meet up? This content is golden man. I LOVE the Price Bracketing idea. I just did this with a client on Sunday and they paid another $100 than I usually charge for a project. It's not in the thousands yet, but it's a step in the right direction :-)
This will come in handy when I start pricing my VO gigs! Thanks Chris, makes so much sense! (Coming from someone who used to kill it in telesales) :) Need to re-watch and save this for Futur reference.

Chris
6:17 How much can you afford?
The last "trick" is awesome just said you are excited and you charge something big because you wanted to do this and that then just lower the price since it's too expensive and voila. Simple but it should work to avoid the trap of somebody who never discuss and try to sell super low no matter what just to win the bid. I like simple. Simple get implemented. Simple make sense.
How I wish I can join this kind of seminar . Damn you are legend
Excellent lesson with a ton of value, as always!
Although I got confused in the end - isn't the 45k sitting right in the middle of the given price bracket of 60 to 30k?
could've swore he said 60 - 80k
@@RuffusJYbut didn't he say to reveal the higher price first?
Chirs youa're gonna be a legend :) . You have the mindful sets of skills, wow
Aww thanks
@@thefutur wow, all thanks to you :)
+ is the super combo! Excellent talk!
Side track: any reason why some faces blurred away?
Oh this one was gold, thanks Chris
Thank you.
This is an amazing human.. very informative and useful video.. thank u
Big number first. Got it. Thanks!
AMITABHA! Give thanks for these gems.
This will come in handy when I start pricing my VO gigs!
Thanks Chris, makes so much sense!
(Coming from someone who used to kill it in telesales) :)
Need to re-watch and save this for Futur reference.
Awesome!!
