Love to hear about the farm, and your great trip to DC. Add in some knife discussion, and a tale of a serendipitous find, and it's the perfect video for watching over my Saturday breakfast. 😀
Nice! My DC viewer said he listens to my videos on his commute to work at the Supreme Court because his job is so stressful and my videos are so chill, haha!
Fantastic video man. Appreciate your enthusiasm; we all love something new. :) I also REALLY appreciate the nuanced comments regarding the knives; good and bad. Those "small" things can really make or break things and short of a nice, crisp, "experienced based opinion" as you've so generously shared with us, how do you know? Can't buy everything just to try! Many if not the majority of folks sharing reviews are at the trough and come in heavy on the positives with a token negative thrown in for the appearances of discernment. Not you Sir! Wonderfully refreshing. Fair, balanced and insightful. Keep it coming.
Great episode, Gabe. Lots of variety and some fun dialogue. It’s interesting to hear the comparison of the NZ outdoor experience compared to the Wild Northwest in America.
Cool Air Lite, the linerless G10 Triad Lock designs from Cold Steel have a pretty compelling weight/size/capability combo. Love my linerless Spyderco backlocks too.
The only thing I've found with my edc knife on the farm is it has to be all metal. It's become a hammer a twisting device and pair of pruners. Crkt m16.
Do you find the thumb stud and contraption gets in the road of sharpening? I got a folding knife from Swiss Tech and I couldn’t sharpen around the thumb stud.
Yeah, I do find thumb studs can be annoying. Usually I can get around it by angling the knife on the stone, but that makes it hard to get the very heel of the edge sharpened. Your pain is real Michael 😆
Seems like the thinner knife blades are becoming more popular & rightfully so in my mind. Those saber ground, thick knives are extremely hard to push, requiring 5x more force in some of my testing. I am getting ready to test various primary & secondary grind angles & how they affect the force required to cut medium & high density foods.

Combinations of ( Micro Bevels ) & secondary bevels, behind the edge thickness will be tested. Which... Knife handles designs & Grip/Grasp style combinations yield reduced risk of injury. Documenting some of this testing to share in a video & data format.

Thanks heaps, what an encouragement. I really appreciate this!

Yeah, there is something no-nonsense function about them!
That manly knife reminds me of my favorite broken skull cold steel. With a spydie mix.
True!
Thanks for sharing 😊
No worries, thanks for stopping by sir!

Haha!!! You are a real farmer, not a poser like me!
Ha not sure about that! Just can't always have my multi tool. And I have tools in the truck and 4-wheeler but never seem to go back and get them lol.
Haha!

Oh that will be super interesting Daniel! Hope all is well!
