George you have been killing it my man. You really break down every knife tip to butt in phenomenal detail. It's been awesome seeing your growth on this channel
Great to see some fixed blade love!! Also happy to see BladeHQ getting back into it's video groove. This vid provides some great info with some some very realistic options offered up - something for everyone. FYI I use a number of my blades in the garden - RAT 1, Buck 110, Mora Companion and a couple of others - all really useful. I cut, slice, dig, scrape, etc no problem - just a little maintenance and they keep rocking. SRK is also a great option!! Sharp blades all.
I haven't watched the entire video yet, but let me say you do a real good job with the info and pace. If I may suggest, please include (next time) where each knife is made. Keep up the good work.
Great to see some fixed blade love. The Ruike Jager is a great sub 100 fixed blade in that same cryo 14C28N hell of a knife for the price. With So many brands to choose from and different applications it's a great time to be a knife guy. Thanks for the great vid and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable
The Esse Izula is my backpacking knife. Picked it up from you folks on a sale, and it goes with me on all my trips, it's fantastic for small emergency jobs around camp.
I have really become a follower of your videos. Blade HQ is lucky to have such a personable well spoken and knowledgeable spokesman. I also love fixed blades. The large ones like Bowies are just plain cool. There’s something about blades that make you buy more and more when we all know we don’t need all of them. Wait, yes we do need all of them

I unsubbed to many channels highlighting +$400 folders that aren't even available.. This was also fantastic AND refreshing not to see only $300+ fixed blades. Really, thank you for such great content AND exellent Presentation. Well done.
George I'm not a huge fan of the SRK. I've snapped tips on 3 different knives. I really wanted to like it especially for the price point but IMO it's best suited for the garden like your dad does with it.
I learned the same lesson the hard way. Since then,I have always taught my students to keep their fingers away from the cutting edge of the knife sheath, regardless of leather or kydex. Even after cutting yourself you kept fingers on that side of the sheath when removing or replacing the knife in the sheath. Hold it by the spine side wrapped around the side but clear of the cutting side.
Great job George! I haven't pulled the trigger on a fixed blade yet, but I have a few in mind now. That Buck 119, That's one my great grandfather would have in his collection...
Really appreciated this kind of video. Super informative and really helps me better understand some differences between brands and styles. Also appreciate calling out which knives were made in USA. A bonus point when deciding to buy anything (not always end all be all though)
You’re kiddinggggg me, I just placed my order yesterday and it was packed about 30 minutes ago, I watched all of your videos on fixed blades and bought two fixed blades :,)
Great Tutorial! Right in line with my current interest. As well: A couple that I had not thought about... That, have made it on my seriously must consider! Thanx, J
Still love my Chris Reeves Pacific fixed blade the best, but I like all knives pretty much, the folders are the only once I tend to have on me though. Often more than one. Great channel and reviews, I have bought many, many knives from Blade HQ over the years. Great service.

It is cannon black, and CPM-154 steel that is seriously underrated. My favorite EDC, but my WINKLER is my favorite blade. The sheath is really awesome. It was $293.50 with my military discount. Never thought I would enjoy fixed blades as an edc but once you find some that work for you, it definitely changes your perspective. The white river caper is one of the best knives I’ve ever owned. I can slide it in my pocket for edc and it’s very comfortable and capable for small task in the woods as well.
The Ruike hornet is such a good fixed blade around $50. The sheath alone makes it a joy to carry but the design and size of the blade make it a perfect edc if you need a fixie.
@@DZNTZ yeah, the sheath the leather sheath the guardian 3 comes with is a horizontal carry. So you put your belt buckle off center and put the knife where the belt buckle usually is.
I really enjoyed the tutorial on fixed blade knives and the sheaths they need make them easy to remove from the blade. I purchased a knife on Amazon I tried for 30 remove it from the sheath and I couldn't now I have to return Amazon is and it's American made today I have to return it. Make it easy to just push it with your thumb and the blade comes you shouldn't have to use two hands to remove your blade.
It's an understatement that removal should be one handed, especially when there are so many sheaths that have a thumb push off point that just pops the knife out!
I love my condor kickback neck knife carbon steel and coated super Sharp yet nice and light with paracord handle lightweight kydex sheath for a great neck knife.... My other favorite is the CRKT minimalist neck knife with the Bowie style blade.. so small so light.. and so comfortable for a minimalist tiny knife.. wear around your neck .. and you forget it's there
Congrats on 30k! I appreciate your reviews. My current EDC fav is a Benchmade Bugout in M390. Looking forward to more awesome knife reviews in the future. My favorite snack is teriyaki beef jerky!
Thanks for the overview. I really appreciate you naming the Ruike Hornet. I think it's one of the most underrated small fixed blades on the market. From a practical use standpoint, it's got outstanding cutting performance, a useful and versatile blade shape, easy to sharpen/hone steel that's tough as nails and very stain resistant, a slim and compact form, a surprisingly ergonomic handle, and a versatile, effective polymer sheath. Also, it's a looker with clean, almost elegant lines. I'd honestly pick it over the Izula, Izula 2, BK 11, or the BK 14 any day.
I didn't think I would like it at first, because the handle is a bit small for me, but of all my fixed blades, the Esee 4 gets the most use. In terms of weight, overall quality, sheath and price, it is very hard to beat. The only real competitor on the table might be the Mora. But I haven't tried it yet.
Great video. Definilty a couple blades from that list I need to get! Maybe slow down on sheathing the knives. Made me nervous for your finger tendons every time you missed the first try.
If I could only have one knife for the rest of my life and had to choose from this group, I'd probably choose the Falkniven S1X. Which one would you choose?
Esee is the best knife company. They are one of the few that stand behind their product with an unlimited lifetime warranty. By the time my first got beat up enough that I was thinking I might need to warranty it because of a tiny crack on the handle (Izula) from batoning through hardwood, I was fully attached to that knife so I welded the crack filed it down smooth and bought a new one.
Missed the opportunity to mention LionSteel fixed blades. We all know they are absolutely amazing quality for the money. My T6 K490 is an absolute unit.
Hella yes! It takes the place in my rotation of Becker BK-2 while looking like TRC Apocalypse! I totally am grateful that I pulled the trigger on K490 before it went to CPM 3V!
George! I’m genuinely shocked you didn’t showcase your LionSteel M1! I’ve been EDCing the Izula in 1095 for about two years, and I’m ready for a change. The Izula has been my last ditch knife for tasks that wouod break my folders, and it has lived up to its reputation of being indestructible, but I just can’t get past how hard it is to actually cut stuff with it. I can only really get it to cut if I’m beating on it like an angry gorilla. And while there are many angry-gorilla tasks out there, sometimes I want a finer touch. I’m looking at either the Bradford Guardian3 in 3V, the LionSteel M1 (in whatever steel), or the Bark River Ultralite Budhcrafter.
Get the guardian in magnacut. You can use the extra stainless and edge holding, and the size of knife certainly doesn't need MORE durability. Lionsteel are OP and m390 is plain great.
When I delivered pizza I carried a CS SRK secured horizontally to my belt in front (belt buckled to the right of it). The rubberized grip worked with greasy hands or dishwater on it, the knife and sheath were black so it blended in with my uniform, in that position it was quickly and surreptitiously accessible with either hand in most situations while still concealing under my shirt, and it was still big enough to act as a decent deterrent if lethal action wasn't yet necessary. It wasn't a gun, but I worked with what was available to me.
Never seen the green handle srk-c. I bought my (4) SRK's from you guys. Cpm, san mai, sk 5 & sk5's srk-c. Also, have the urban edge from blade hq. But i feel the Safe Maker I & II are better all-around, imo. Also, I choose the Buck 120 over 119 any day (Scream fan). Sadly, I gifted away all 4 of my Ka-Bars'. Glad you put Fallkniven into it. I own 5. The Bowie but the laser design one i bought from blade hq is messed up but 99% of the bowie is fine. Along with the A1, A2, S1 but I don't like my A1x tbh. Premium 119 is cool. Gonna see if 120 has that upgrade as well.
Still watching but it's all about the sheaths. If you can't carry it comfortably and securely it really DOESN'T matter how great the knife is.
I agree
Totally agree with that!
I’ve always said a knife is only as good as your ability to carry it
100%
What are you talking about I just walk around with the knife in my hand at all times and leave the sheath at home everyone does that

I vote for ULB Bark River Ultralight Bushcrafter doubles duty as an EDC fixed blade! I'd love it in Elmax, Magnacut or S35VN!
My pick is the Bradford knives for edc and esse for bushcraft.
I'm interested in A2 and Modern Bowie!
The Northern lights series too Idun and Frej
Great review ! More like it ,Please.
