how many extra holes do girls have? i reckon just one, in the standard off-the-shelf model with no piercings and/or major surgeries. i could be wrong though.
I’ve commented already, but here is my second take. My first Spyderco was a pm2 earth brown dlc s35vn, loved it so much I bought another one the same week and kept it “away”, still have it new in box from 2019. After 2 years of carrying that I started buying more Spyderco knives. Mostly pm2’s and para 3’s, and some different models like the yojimbo2 and endela’s from dlt red and black 20cv, have 4 of those 2 satin and 2 dlc. Then somehow I really fell down the rabbit hole and had some extra cash and was buying 2-3 knives a week for a year or so. Needless to say I have WAY too many knives now , 🤦♂️ around 160 Spyderco’s. Lately I’ve really been into backlock seki models, grabbed an Endura in pd#1 and 2 police4 lw’s in pd#1. But have also purchased the Military 2 in s110v and cruwear versions on sale. Have a Manix 2 g10 exclusive coming in cts-204p and this will be my 27th steel from Spyderco. Edc a Stretch 2 XL g10 cruwear and a native 5 lightweight serrated MagnaCut. I know, I have issues 😅 love the content you put out Pete. And love Bricky!!!!
Love Spyderco, and have 3 Stretch models, 2 in ZDP-189 with the 'bulbous' snout, and the other is K390. Recently got the Sage 1 in Maxamet, my 1st Sage, and it is a dream. Many, many other Spydies, and I will not stop. That is my promise to you. Thanks for another enjoyable vid.
Agree on Kapara. It’s so slim in the pocket, so much blade, amazing ergonomics and the design is perfect for casual food prep. Plus it’s just beautiful
Completely agree on the kapara. Just got one and while it is the most expensive knife I own by far it feels worth it. I love all spydercos but this one feels especially premium and it checks all the boxes for my edc, there is nothing I would change about it.
+1, the stock Kapara is by far the nicest quality Spyderco I have owned. I even like the CF scales, which I usually don't enjoy. Would I want it in a better steel? Possibly.
Im in the uk so unsurprisingly my favourite is the UKPK. I have a salt one and one in Spy27. I love that they are ambidextrous, one hand opening and are as solid in the open position as it's possible to be while not actually locking.... Oh and they cut really well too.
Spyderco is also my favorite knifemaker. I love the FRN knives, mostly because of the K390 steel that you can get many of the models in. K390 is without a doubt my all-time favorite steel. Some of my favorite K390 FRN's are the lil Temperance, Police 4 lightweight, and the Leaf Jumper (the most underrated Spyderco of all time). Regarding your top 5: 1. I got bored of the Para 2 awhile ago, after carrying them pretty exclusively for like 10 years. It's a great knife, and I have several versions, but I don't really carry it anymore. 2. I bought a Spydiechef several years ago (primarily because of your glowing reviews) and I agree, it's a great knife. It's my "dress up" knife. 3. Never had a Kapara. I had one in hand in a shop once, and just didn't like it, and I've basically disregarded it since. Maybe I'll take another look at it. 4. Never had a Sage. It's just never "grabbed" me visually enough to get me to order one. I do regret that I didn't buy each of the Sage versions when they were in production though, just from a collector standpoint. 5. I have a Stretch in vg10 that I've always found to be pretty "meh". I also have a Stretch 2 in K390. The K390 blade steel transforms it into a different knife. I like it, but I don't really carry it, mostly because I prefer the compression lock for EDC. My all-time favorite - and this hasn't changed since it came out - is the Shaman. The most well-rounded, do everything knife I've ever owned. I do use aftermarket slab-sided scales though, which completely change the carry profile, and the feel in hand.
K390 gang here. I have a stupid amount of Spyderco in K390. Not every one, but most. I never leave home without a serrated K390 Delica. Ive come to believe its bad luck for me to do so, even though Im not a big fan of the idea of "luck".
@@lawrenceragnarok1186 from the examples I’ve seen, there hasn’t been a drop in quality. Sharpening and edge retention have been phenomenal leading me to believe the ht is still great. In fact, the only times I’ve seen knives come flawed from the factory were in the pre GSM days (one with a really wonky grind and the other shipped with a broken spring in the triad lock), but I don’t hold it against them because you are going to have things that slip through QC. It happens. I understand that anecdotal evidence is just that, anecdotal.
Hey Pete, great list! Personally, I would have had the Gayle Bradley 2 on the list somewhere, but thats just my opinion, and some of these on your list, I havent used. I'd recommend grabbing one of the BladeHQ exclusive's in Cruwear, if you haven't had one yet.
Excellent choices!! Any of the Slysz designed Spydies are incredible. I don’t have a Bowie because of the BS hype driving the price way out of what’s it’s worth but it is a damn good knife. But I LOOOOVE my Techno 2, swayback and chef!
Great video as always... I never hear anyone talking about the Spyderco Watu. Its my favorite design-wise. I know it's not a work knife but it's very slicey. Anyone else love the Watu?
I don't have any experience with it, but I remember seeing a video that Seth and David C. Anderson ('DCA') were doing at Knife Center, and Seth said the Watu was one of his favorite Spyderco's. I sure looks slicey!
Yeah the watu is a excellent knife. When they was marked down about a year ago on amazon for 130 bucks I bought two of them. They are absolutely laser beam slicers, they slice as good as a chaparral does and offer a full size knife handle and blade. If you want a card board cutting laser the watu is really hard to beat. Plus because they aren't very pretty and just a odd looking design they can be had for really great prices. You get a well done action, well done 20cv for not much money and once you get the knife in hand you will like it a lot more than you would think based off the pics. They are really awesome values and I see them pop up on the second hand basically brand new for 100 bucks fairly frequently and for that price it's a crazy good knife.
@@EDCandLace Absolutely! thx for your reply! The Watu is my go-to for breaking down cardboard also! I think think the profile is beautiful. I picked mine up, brand new from a pawn shop for $150 but I wish I would have seen that sale on Amazon for $130! Just subbed to your channel!
I get ya man! I was a Benchmade guy for a LONG time. Had the very first Axis Lock knife (710 McHenry and Williams) but, years ago, I tried a Spydie and was like "hmmm, now I see why y'all like these damn things so much" 👍
Great content as always! Can say for sure that you influenced me a lot into getting bit by the Spyder! My top 5: 1- Manix 2 2- Chaparral 3- Caribbean 4- PM 2 5- Endura 4 Wharncliffe Honorable mentions: Dragonfly, Delica 4, Shaman, SpyOpera
I've only had a few spyderco's but man o' man do I love my paramiltary 2 with micarda scales and cruwear steel. I sharpened it once last year (i tend to sharpen often) and I haven't touched the edge at all since! Nice to see that Cedric landed it in his top 5.
Bought my first Spyderco last month,PM2 micarta. Bought my second a week later,PM2 micarta...😅 Love the warm feel of the micarta. (Eickhorn EDC until now.😁)
My first ''real knife'' was the Manix 2 G10 allblack in S30v. Awesome knife and after 6 years of blue collar EDC, I added the ATW scale and made it close to perfect. This knife made me fall in love with the Spyderco brand and ethos. The steel variety is something that also keeps me interested in the brand. I later added the PM2 cruwear, Yojimbo 2 cruwear, Chapparal moon and sun, Dragondfly zdp-189 and the Endura VG10 to the collection(my folder are mostly Spydercos). The Manix is still my #1 after 9 years of ownership, followed by the Chapparal for the office and dressed events. peace!
Nice collection you have - great choices! I also love the Manix 2 and PM 2 - so good! I want to get a YoJumbo or maybe a Ronin 2 fixed blade in the future. I also am waiting for a nice Chapparal to come through my usual supplier for a "gentlemen's carry" knife - I like that Raffir Nobel one or the Bird's Eye Maple!
Para 3 in Cru-Wear is my favorite - it's my EDC (Every Day Counter knife - I work from home and it lives on my kitchen counter) and gets the most use out of any of my non-kitchen knives. I have the Shaman as well - it's ok (and actually feathersticks quite well), but prefer the Para 3 for most cutting tasks that you'd use an "EDC" for if you're not working on a farm or industrial setting. It's a great little knife and carries extremely well on those rare occasions it's in my pocket (with a deep carry clip on it).
Love the police 4 lw k390. Stretch 2 k390 and xl cruwear. Shaman, sage 5 lw. Military 2 crucarta is one of my favorites. Too many to list 👍🏻 great content!!
I live near Golden Co ..home of Spyderco factory and store..I love going there to smell the knives “cooking” ..I have a huge collection of Spydies…I have all the early Sage’s hard to come by..
why the stretch 2 xl? Ive got a cruwear one that Im selling... I love the Chap... Sage... Manix... Microjimbo... Lil Native... Native 5... Para 3.... !
@@fredp1983I wanted to like the Manix but I’ve only tried the “lightweight” version and I ended up selling it after a couple weeks. I did really love the ergos, blade shape, locking mechanism, etc., but compared to the quality, the buttery smooth action, & the feel of my PM2, I just couldn’t come around to liking the Manix2 LW. I’m thinking about giving the G10 version a try though. Or maybe the XL Crucarta version!
I have the lightweight Manix 2 and had the G10 and they’re great, just not feeling the hype everyone else feels. They both had/have great build quality, better QC than my other Spyderco’s. Maybe it’s the forced grip and wide as hell in the pocket and not really the slicer everyone claims unless you reprofile it.
I love the Spyderco design philosophy and they are my favorite folding knife maker. The knives just fit my hand nicely and the blades are stellar performers. My top 5 favorite pocket companions are: 1) Positron; 2) ParaMilitary 2; 3) Mantra 3; 4) Autonomy 2; 5) tied between the Tenacious in S35VN and the Manix 2 I love the compression lock as it is quick to stow the blade without the risk of getting my fingers caught in the path of the blade. Spyderco designs just rock!
I own a lot of spyderco knives. And the thing I consistently don’t like are the steel clips. I always find them to have hot spots in my hand in the way tip pokes up into my hand when I hold them. That’s in both tip up or tip down. That’s in both right and left hand carry.
I don't wanna be "that Guy" but the shaman is the do it all spyderco. Tough with a great feeling handle and as solid as the Manix 2. Great vid tho. Purchased a Kapara right after watching, cheers!
100% Manix 2 is my favorite. PM3 in S100v is incredible, I cut a entire memory foam queen mattress into small pieces in like 40 minutes and the thing is still sharp.
I love the Manix 2 above all others. My dream is someday Spyderco will release a "K-Carta" line in K390 with blue Micarta, and I think I'd grab like 3 Manix in that config. Also prefer the Para 3 to PM2 for some weird reason, though I usually prefer bigger knives.
Manix 2 is the most ergonomic folder I’ve ever held. You can use it for hard cutting for an hour and your hand will feel fine. I love the PM2, but the manix feels sturdier and has a better blade shape for hard use. I work construction and a third of my crew carries a manix
Sheep’s foot Caribbean is one of the greats as well, I clip it in my trunks and swim through salty creeks ocean and river 3 days a week and it just works so well !
The spydiechef Is my favorite. Really impressed with its functionality and its very comfortable to use and carry for edc. Glad to see it made your top 5!
I really liked the Spydie Chef, but had a lot of lockup issues with my 3 last ones. I really wish Spyderco started using lock bar inserts on their frame locks, and I think most of the lockup issues would be solved. The Manix 2 & Manix 2 LW (especially now that they can be taken apart) are great knives for the money, I think I paid $130 for my Rex 45 LW & around $160 for the CruCarta.
Preface: I got some bigass hands My list probably goes: 1.Manix 2 XL (had the OG S30V version since it was new, the G10 is now smooth from carry over the years, but I've been enamored with the CruCarta variant) 2. OG Calypso/Endura 4 (Miss the ZDP-189 version I lost in a movie theater years ago. Think the Stretch 2 XL will supplant this, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet) 3. Native 4/5 4. Chaparral/Sage 5. Kiwi (Jigged bone was my favorite) There's been other great ones. I had a Centofante 4 that was great, but those handles were on the cheap side, even for FRN. The Gayle Bradley 2 is amazing, but I wish it had a touch better lockbar access. The Smock is great, but I feel it'd perform better for me if it was full flat ground. The Para Military 2's compression lock cutout isn't quite far back enough so my thumb interacts with it uncomfortably. The Military 2 gets around that, but it's borderline unwieldly large for some EDC tasks (but the S110V is sweet). The Matriarch with Wave is fun and wicked, but very purpose-built for self defense.
Jerry!! Dude Bro Dude man!! I'm so glad your alive!, is everything okay? Are you doing alright? I really do miss you on UA-cam, you just disappeared it seems. But more importantly, I hope you are well.
Why do you look younger Cedric lol. I’ve been out of knives thing in general for about 3 years. I remembered your channel and I’m surprised you look younger man. You also lost some weight! Good job
Just started really EDCing a Spyderco that I had in my drawer for ages... it's in VG-10 and that stuff is great imo. Maybe I need to try more high end steels but I think it leaves nothing to be desired.
Could always get the Stretch 2 XL in vg10 with the straight spine. It's a big boy but can be had at crazy low prices when they do the yearly 30% off sale around black Friday... can get it for like 75 bucks!
@@EDCandLace I have that one. And I have a regualar Stretch 2 with the non-straight spine, but I'd really like to have the Stretch 2 with a straight spine as well. They did the sprint run Stretch 2 VG-10 with Ivory colored FRN handles and straight spine. I'm waiting for a good deal to pop up on one of those on the secondary market.
Awesome video and great list. 👍 My top 5 are more EDC based, and include some tactical as much as practical choices. 1. SpydieChef 2. Yojimbo2 3. Kapara 4. Para2 5. Manix 2
Funny I was sharpening my stretch 2 in K390 while watching your video, just by chance and I w-holeheartedly agree with you on the stretch 2. I have dozen spyderco's and the stretch 2 is definitely my favorite for EDC and work (carpenter). it's such a good knife that I've almost stopped rotating through my other knives for EDC.
I only have three kinds of spyderco’s … 2 delicate 1 endura and their fixed enuff in k390 … all are amazing … I would add the aqua salt if I was going to add another to the collection ! Thanks for the vid !
Bro, if you're looking for a SALT knife - get the new Spyderco ParaMilitary 2 in Magnacut steel! It takes amazing to a whole new level! The compression lock on the PM2 is so great to use, and the ergonomics of this knife are superb. Trust me - if you like the Delica and Endura - you will LOVE the PM2! Not sure if you've heard about Magnacut steel yet (sorry, no offense intended if you have), but this is really an incredible new "super-steel" that has high corrosion resistance and edge retention, but also excellent TOUGHNESS (a rare combination).
I absolutely enjoyed this, and myst say, you are the best knife reviewer. Thanks for what you do. My keeper spydercos for now are the s45 pm2, s30 shaman, h2 stretch 2 xl, lc200 siren, and s30 manix 2. I'm selling the P.I.T.S even though it's cool, as well as the Tenacious because it doesn't stay locked
I love my standard Sage 5. Thank you for the validation! I consider it a perfect EDC. Sadly, it appears to be discontinued in favor of the lightweight version. I'm glad I got mine in time.
Pete, when you held that wonderful red & black box in the thumbnail I knew what I was doing next. Just do it for every thumbnail and I'll be here! And then if you want switch topics I won't remember why I clicked on the video. YES, I am saying you can use me for the views.😄 Take Care!
As an Aussie knife enthusiast I really enjoy your content Pete but having neglected the Manix2 is a huge oversight. In my humble opinion it is great performer and in the s110v version my daily carry .
Thanks Pete, I enjoyed your breakdown of favorite Spydies. While I only have 5 Spydercos now I will get more. Eyeing the XL Stretch 2 in K390 or Cruware. The Dragonfly is also intriguing. So far the Manix 2 or Police 4 gets the mostcpocet time with me.
Hey Pete, great video! I totally agree with the Stretch 2 and PM 2 in the Top 5, but I really think the Manix 2 has to be in there (it wasn't even given an honorable mention!😱). To me, the Manix 2 is such a great size, blade shape, and, IMO, the ergonomics are even better than the PM2 and Stretch 2 - which are both tough to beat (unless you prefer a more neutral handle with less 'çhoils'/finger grooves)! I'm glad you mentioned the Spydie Chef and Capara - those are 2 knives that I previously discounted because they look a bit weird/nerdy to me (same issue with the Gayle Bradley); however, maybe I need to give these 2 a second consideration! So many cool knives and not enough paychecks! Thanks Pete - fun and interesting to watch and hear your perspective - especially with all your experience with Spyderco's! 😎👍Edit: Oh yeah, and the Shaman! We cannot forget the Shaman!!!!! So Good!
Really like my LeafJumper k390. My top are: Native5, Sage5, Manix2, Chaparral, LeafJumper. AWT aluminum scales are great for a “fancy” metal feel in the hand. Otherwise I prefer their LW models and wire clips. I have more Spyderco than any other company. Excited for my Sage5 LW rex121!
Absolutely great list! The only one I would switch out is the kapara. I love the look, but between the slim compression lock cut out and smooth carbon fiber I struggle a little with operation. Still an amazing knife though.
Ha, I'm carrying my FRN Chaparral today. It's a smaller version of the Sage. (Chaparral and Sage, both desert plants). And I disagree on the Native 5. It's one of my favorites and would be stellar if it had a compression lock.
For some reason previous comment got deleted. I love the chapparal personally and would put it near the top, I bought all the variations except the FRN. It is the perfect size for functional gentlemans pocket carry and the bare minimum for a full hand grip using the choil. I love the carribbean too. But yes, for functionality least the Stretch 2 is probably the most solid recommend for a work bag.
Good list Pete. Gotta say, other than the price my Slysz Bowie is my all time favorite knife; and I've owned Sebenzas. Surprised you didn't mention the Bradley 2. Love that thing too
I’m on board with your top 5, although I’d dump the chef for the Bowie for opening and access to the spydie hole alone! No shaman or manix either? Shaman is one of my favs for sure, and the lw manix in maxemet is a beast with a better lock than the stretch series. Although I do love the k390 stretch too! Great vid!
I started collecting Spydercos with a PM2 in S45VN, and its perfectly broken-in action makes it hard to stay away for too long. I think the Para 3 is more comfortable in hand - a lot of people including myself say it feels like a natural extension - but the extra thickness and weight (for its size) compromise the ease of carrying it in the pocket.
Probably Delica, PM2, Stretch 2 k390, Endura and Tenacious for me. Ive always loved the Delica for a small slicey edc blade that will even take some abuse when needed. The PM2 i would wager is probably on just about everyones top 5 knives as well. I switch between it and the stretch 2 sometimes multiple times a day. Ive got 12 years with my Para 2 and only 1 or so with the Stretch 2 in k390. Theyre both excellent but i cant decide if I like one or the other better. Idk what it was about the sage but i didnt like it. I had a 1, 2 and a 5 and traded them off for other stuff. The Endura is almost too big but it cuts very well and the Tenacious makes my list because it was my first spyderco, my gateway knife, and a pretty good one as well.
I have 2 manix 2. Magnacut that i put aluminum scales on and rex 45 with stock white scales. They are great knives. I pretty sure i could drop my magnacut one in a puddle, then put it up wet and wouldn't have to worry about corrosion. I also have a tenacious in s35 that is a great knife as well. Not sure its top 5 worthy though.
I'm a long time Spyderco fan, have about 30, Spydiechef a great knife but my favourite is the Drunken - yes its expensive - I bought mine used with a reground blade - splendid knife 😇
I had some large boxes to break down recentky,so I decided to comare a few out of my collection-a doug ritter msk,a we bogaurdus,a 4v para2,and a 940.Was suprised, the para 2 did bestcut slightly better, and was easier on the hand. The 940 also suprised me-cut better then expected. All of them were very sharp, all were premium steels-m390,20cv,m4,and 4v.Couldnt say about edge retention, didnt do enough for that, but I can say, having five or six spydees,a like number of benchmades, and other high end brands, that spydercos are ALL consitantky good cutters,I cannot say that for benchmade, some, yeah, some meh,and the dullest knife out of the box I ever got,was that bencmade 940 in m4-was a real job putting a good edge on that,I would have sent it back, but it was just so purty-jade g10 with blacked out bkade and hardware
Bought a Delica .. Spydie Chef ( grail knife .. but not so good in the hand ) ... and a bunch of others ... But my oldest and most loved ..... Pro Grip Stainless in G2 steel
G'day Pete, well reasoned mate !!! I've no probs with the handle end(s), but personally I cant come at the bird beak jobs. However, I do very much like their other patterns; i.e. the leaf shaped, the spydychef and others. And yep cant deny they do have a great range of steel choices .............. if only there was a "no-hole" option !!!!!!! ....... bluddy 'ell ....... I'd even go for a nail nick. As is, ...... I know which hole of mine I identify them with ; ) Incidentally, I wonder where all that "missing" steel goes, ....... must be a shipload of it at the end of the day ; ) Cheers Duke. P.S. They even whack one on their fixed blades, ......... could they be behind Huusk/Matsato, as a budget arm of the business ? ........... hehehe .... only jok'n mate, .... hava good one ; )
I have an older version of the Police model that came etched PIG Pride ... Integrity .. Guts .... ( I bought it during my DREMEL time ... cutting in serrations .. LOL )
Great list! I have always liked the look of the Centofante but never bought one because of the VG10 steel. I think the Gayle Bradley is a great option with way better steel. There is a Cru Wear GB2 which is great I also love the Kepara in case I need to dress up and still carry a decent size knife. Yes to the Spydie Chef too. I just like it it’s the best knife for slicing the lime in Gin and Tonic.
The k390 Stretch 2 is my favorite Spyderco as well. I have most of the k390 series too. Second is probably k390 wharncliffe Endura or Delica. I don't like the way the wharncliffe models look but they perform really well.
One bad cqi compression lock doesn’t mean the lock sucks. I got some bad back locks from spyderco. But back locks aren’t bad. Comp lock is one of the strongest safest locks on the market
Manix, pm2, native 5, stretch 2 , gayle bradley 2, sage 5 and kapara would round out my top 6 and a honorable mention. It really kills me to not be able to put the delica and endela in there. The gayle brandly 2 is such a slept on knife amoung the community and it's such a great knife.
Sold off a bunch of my collection a couple years ago. The only one I really miss is the Sage 5. I also really like the Manix 2 lightweight for a big hand filling folder
my opinion is different REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE (Lol jk) Not that you're asking, but to feed the algorithm for Pete, here's my list EDC: 1) Manix 2 2) Sage 5 4) PM 2 3) Chaparral 5) Caly 3.5 6) Police 4 7) stretch 2 8) endura 9) dragonfly 2 10) delica Hunting 1) stretch 2 2) police 4 3) that's it, the rest are unsuitable because of blade shape. Fishing utility/boat knife 1) Manix 2 Magncut 2) Carribean (PE or SE) 3) no experience with other salt series, but i suppose PM2 salt would be pretty good here, so would native, native chief, pacific salt, and the catchman. Last place) H1 anything
As an EDC cut anything from fertilizer bags, to wood, rope, plastic, whatever I need to cut...would you recommend the Stretch 2 K390? or Para Military 2 Magnacut?
Have you had the opportunity to handle that Stretch 2 in G10 and Cruwear? Too pricey for me but I imagine it is quite nice. I just got that M4 Tenacious and I am pretty sure it is going to be my go to work knife going forward.
Holy shit..."as someone born with a number of holes...I have an affinity for spyderco" I fing died laughing.
Never before have I had to stop a video 2 seconds in to compose myself. Thanks, Pete. Thanks.
I see a T shirt coming 😂.....
I saw that on the subtitles and was thoroughly confused 😂
Kin' ell, what an intro!😂😂😂
how many extra holes do girls have? i reckon just one, in the standard off-the-shelf model with no piercings and/or major surgeries. i could be wrong though.
I would add the Manix 2 to the list.
I just got one some of the absolute worst quality control terrible centering and they lock tighted the clip so its impossible to reverse
Manix 2 is great but there are many fake on eBay
@chiky2000 wasn't off ebay it was from house of knives (main ish knife website in Canada)
I've got a manix 2 in s110v and I love it. I was really surprised the manix 2 didn't at least get an honorable mention.
@@willrascal1362 might be a fake, lots of clones of many brands being sold lately. Be careful and do some research. Good luck
holey cow a new Cedric and Ada review dropped!
Every single time Basal screams righteous indignation into the abyss, it just INSTANTLY makes my day.
Thank you. 🔥🐈⬛🔥
Is the UKpk actually under three inches? I remember hearing the cutting edge was but the choil make it too long
@@CDXRKit’s actually slightly under 3” (I think it’s like .05” under) with a cutting edge of just over 2.5”
Spyderco is also my favorite knifemaker.
Regarding your top 5:
@@Pharto_Stinkus I’d say that they are closely followed up by Cold Steel and Hogue.
@@just9911 cold steel is having some issues after they got bought out sadly, I didn't like a lot of their stuff but the Voyager series was great.
K390 gang here. I have a stupid amount of Spyderco in K390. Not every one, but most. I never leave home without a serrated K390 Delica. Ive come to believe its bad luck for me to do so, even though Im not a big fan of the idea of "luck".
@@hificat101l believe you have stacked the odds in your favor by carrying that serrated Delica in K390 !
Nice to see the Kapara on the list, totally agree! Hard to argue with the top 5 you picked. Spyderco just has a lot of great designs.
I just acquired a lightweight Police in K390 and I love it as well.
I found a serrated one at BHQ on sale for $112 a few months back and its an incredible knife.
I have the Police 4 K390 fully serrated and I love it, it's a beast
Hey Pete, great list!
Personally, I would have had the Gayle Bradley 2 on the list somewhere, but thats just my opinion, and some of these on your list, I havent used. I'd recommend grabbing one of the BladeHQ exclusive's in Cruwear, if you haven't had one yet.
I would not have guessed that #1 in a million years. You are deviating from the norm and that's what I come here for. Well done.
@@ExtraCrispy357 it's a lovely knife!
The Paramilitary 2 changed my life. Bought one about 15 years ago and I got the hype.
My top 5:
1- Manix 2
2- Chaparral
3- Caribbean
4- PM 2
5- Endura 4 Wharncliffe
Honorable mentions: Dragonfly, Delica 4, Shaman, SpyOpera
I've only had a few spyderco's but man o' man do I love my paramiltary 2 with micarda scales and cruwear steel. I sharpened it once last year (i tend to sharpen often) and I haven't touched the edge at all since! Nice to see that Cedric landed it in his top 5.
Bought my first Spyderco last month,PM2 micarta.
Bought my second a week later,PM2 micarta...😅
Love the warm feel of the micarta.
(Eickhorn EDC until now.😁)
Thank you for your service Australia man.
I own a lot of Spydercos. My favorites are my 3 Endura 4s. The Ergos fit me well and it comes in a good many versions.
My list
1. Stretch 2 XL
2. Chaparral
3. Dragonfly
4. Naitive 5
5. Manix 2
Manix goes hard
In all honesty, spyderco is the best brand and all of their knives are awesome for one use or another
why the stretch 2 xl?
Endela in Cruwear and K390. Both great knives!
The stretch 2xl is one of my favorite knives of all time.
Who else is here for the spyderco
Fun.....get the popcorn
I love the Spyderco design philosophy and they are my favorite folding knife maker. The knives just fit my hand nicely and the blades are stellar performers. My top 5 favorite pocket companions are: 1) Positron; 2) ParaMilitary 2; 3) Mantra 3; 4) Autonomy 2; 5) tied between the Tenacious in S35VN and the Manix 2
I love the compression lock as it is quick to stow the blade without the risk of getting my fingers caught in the path of the blade.
"the bigger the gets the harder it is to do them like perfectly"...
COLD STEEL: Hold my beer.
Lol
No such knife as a pm3... it's not a para military 3 it's just para 3 and the steel is not s100v it's S110v.
@@EDCandLaceSo what? It's based off of the PM2 so if they call it PM3 instead of Para 3, who cares! People know what they mean! 🤣
Glad Sage 5 made your list! That one and a Native 5 are my most carried and used.
Hey Pete, would love to see you get your hands on the upcoming stretch 2 xl in CTS-PD#1
Preface: I got some bigass hands
My list probably goes:
1.Manix 2 XL (had the OG S30V version since it was new, the G10 is now smooth from carry over the years, but I've been enamored with the CruCarta variant)
2. OG Calypso/Endura 4 (Miss the ZDP-189 version I lost in a movie theater years ago. Think the Stretch 2 XL will supplant this, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet)
3. Native 4/5
4. Chaparral/Sage
5. Kiwi (Jigged bone was my favorite)
There's been other great ones.
YES! I've got a Manix 2 XL in Cru-Carta on the old 'wishlist'!
Good job
I'm not a steel snob, so I love VG-10 as a user steel. Really wish the VG-10 Stretch 2 came with the straight spine blade.
I have 3 VG10 core Damascus Spyderco knives, and I can say that VG10 core Damascus comes insanely sharp.
Just started really EDCing a Spyderco that I had in my drawer for ages... it's in VG-10 and that stuff is great imo. Maybe I need to try more high end steels but I think it leaves nothing to be desired.
but nothing wrong with vg10
1. SpydieChef
2. Yojimbo2
3. Kapara
4. Para2
5. Manix 2
Great list. I would add the Manix 2 and remove the Sage 5.
Defo. My favorite Spy model. Just fits right, especially with aftermarket scales.
Are you familiar with the Spyderco Bradley? Great content 👌 Much appreciated
Thank you, mt top 5 are completely different, shows what a great company Spyderco is!
Wildest intro ever, I love this guy 😂
Nice video. My favorites are the shaman, manix, and endura.
@@ExtraCrispy357 I’ll look into it, prefer fixed blade to folders but I’m not against the idea
My favorite is the Para Military 2 with M4 steel. Its perfect!!! It holds an edge really well.

YES, I am saying you can use me for the views.😄
Take Care!
As an Aussie knife enthusiast I really enjoy your content Pete but having neglected the Manix2 is a huge oversight. In my humble opinion it is great performer and in the s110v version my daily carry .
Leaving the Manix 2 off the list is wild to me. Probably the single most practical folding knife on the market, especially for the price.
So Good!
Best cold start intro
Love my k390 stretch! The 15V manix 2 is right there with it.
K390 for the win, love the patina on my Delica 4.
CQI Spydiechef 🙌🏽
Yes the spyderco police 4 is perfection, it is my all time favorite.
Frn spydercos are by far my favorite edc knives. Salt 2 in h2 is absolutely fantastic for lw summer carry
Stretch 2 in k390 is one of my favorites too
Good list Pete. Gotta say, other than the price my Slysz Bowie is my all time favorite knife; and I've owned Sebenzas. Surprised you didn't mention the Bradley 2. Love that thing too
I Think like Pete would love the leaf jumper, It’s like a more compact Stretch 2 with nearly the same cutting length and no jimping.
Damn I didn’t make the list, have you tried the Smock?
Sage 1,2, or 5 best overall for me but spydiechef sees most pockettime. Awesome video.
The Watu, Spyopera and Manix 2 are the only things missing that I like as well.
Bought a Delica ..
Spydie Chef ( grail knife .. but not so good in the hand )
... and a bunch of others ...
I know which hole of mine I identify them with ; )
Incidentally, I wonder where all that "missing" steel goes, ....... must be a shipload of it at the end of the day ; )
Cheers Duke.
P.S. They even whack one on their fixed blades, ......... could they be behind Huusk/Matsato, as a budget arm of the business ? ........... hehehe .... only jok'n mate, .... hava good one ; )
I have an older version of the Police model that came etched PIG
Pride ... Integrity .. Guts ....
( I bought it during my DREMEL time ... cutting in serrations .. LOL )
My favourite spyderco is the Perrin Street Bowie.
Great list! I have always liked the look of the Centofante but never bought one because of the VG10 steel. I think the Gayle Bradley is a great option with way better steel. There is a Cru Wear GB2 which is great
I also love the Kepara in case I need to dress up and still carry a decent size knife.
Yes to the Spydie Chef too. I just like it it’s the best knife for slicing the lime in Gin and Tonic.
ohhhh Realllllly
I too have liquidated some items that I regret selling. It’s actually quite a list🤦🏻♂️ Thanks for all the content Pete👍🏻
The k390 Stretch 2 is my favorite Spyderco as well. I have most of the k390 series too. Second is probably k390 wharncliffe Endura or Delica. I don't like the way the wharncliffe models look but they perform really well.
Greetings Pirmin From Switzerland 🇨🇭 You Are Make Very good Videos Greetings to Australia 🇦🇺
I have only one Spyderco... the Chef, which I love.
The Para 3 sucks. The detent was made improperly and caused a real nasty thumb cut. I only use Spyderco back locks now.
I also really like the Manix 2 lightweight for a big hand filling folder
great video- I think I need a sage 5
my opinion is different REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE (Lol jk)
Not that you're asking, but to feed the algorithm for Pete, here's my list
EDC:
1) Manix 2
2) Sage 5
4) PM 2
3) Chaparral
5) Caly 3.5
6) Police 4
7) stretch 2
8) endura
9) dragonfly 2
10) delica
Hunting
1) stretch 2
2) police 4
3) that's it, the rest are unsuitable because of blade shape.
Fishing utility/boat knife
1) Manix 2 Magncut
2) Carribean (PE or SE)
3) no experience with other salt series, but i suppose PM2 salt would be pretty good here, so would native, native chief, pacific salt, and the catchman.
Last place) H1 anything
I'm missing the Shaman, Native 5 and Manix 2 in the list. Agree with the PM2 and Stretch 2 making the list while the Para 3 does not.
5 own
4. lost
3. no interest
2. maybe in the future.
1. Happy with the PM2.
Great video, Pete. Thanks for posting.
My first spyderco, I just happened upon for a steal so I bought 2. The Opus. Dicontinued now but man for a PM2/PM1 Alt, it is really a nice knife.
