Tik tok is the absolute worst. A narcissist's dream.

    • @beerosaurusrex

It's not really any different then any social media platform, which all feed into narcissism, but as a viewer will depend on how you use it. I don't create any content, and just use TikTok as a better version of UA-cam shorts, for stand-up/comedy, aviation, and sports clips, primarily. I don't get any women crying or dance videos or any of that nonsense unless it's someone only using the clip to mock them.

Social media seems to have two purposes.
      1. To act as an unfiltered megaphone for celebrities, politicians, journalists and other raving narcissists.
      2. To act as sort of a group validation system for people's bad choices and their mental illnesses.

Back in the 90s we were all worried about the effects of technology on kids. We KNEW we had to regulate how kids were exposed to the new technology and then we never did anything. Now those hens have come home to roost. We're now on our second generation of useless entitled snowflakes who are offended by the sun coming up and can't function in society.

I figure the people that watch these TikTok videos about other people's relationships and lives don't have one or neglect them to spend all this time worried about strangers. I find the same with the people doing it to celebrities. "This person you don't know is marrying this other person you don't know." Alright, does that increase my income or reduce my expenses, force me to move out of my home or something? No? Then why should I care?

    'Romance is the answer !
An old dog now, back in my 'Sock-Hop' days, romance was both encouraged by all elders & celebrated as the 'Last Dance' culture theme proved. Broken hearts were common (relations ca 3 weeks - 3 months long) but break-ups could be celebrated in bursts of satisfying self-pity as the eras 'Only & Lonely' music proves so very well. (Suffering can be great is the message)
The 'paring-urge competion was exciting because it brought out the best in all in an age when people liked to meet opposite sex for pleasant company. The climax came to that generation when a truce was declared in the war between the sexes and all the pretty sex burned their bras . . .
