In english, german and french, there are numerous greetings that are a time of day and the word 'good'. I had seen this before. My first thought was that it was intensely stupid. The second was that you can imagine a slaveholder having that accusation levelled against them and responding with "It's the first time someone's ever accused me of having the wit for wordplay. Thank you.". Doing it EVERY morning is also discipline for a joke the average slave wouldn't have understood. Being plucked from Africa, it's going to take a while to get jokes that are based on homophones.

@natmarelnam4871 It varies from country to country but in the US about 20% of all college graduates work as school teachers. It's turned the public school system into a fall back job for graduates that can't get jobs elsewhere and a lot of them view it as a make work project and, as a result, they have about as much interest in the profession as a private in the army picking up trash from around the barracks. You get a few that take a genuine interest in the kids but most think it's beneath their "talents" and do the bare minimum to avoid getting chewed out.

Just as Jews had gone into banking when charging interest had been forbidden to Christians many occupations that people needed done were socially unacceptable to Whites in the South. Tuere were very successful businesses owned by Blacks, businesses that used slave labor. *Fun fact:* Most African slaves who found themselves in the Americas were SOLD or TRADED to the white men by Black African slave owners.... almost always after their tribe was raped, murdered, tortured and conquest-ed.... by said black Africans. Because as well know, from just from the last few decades of Apartheid - Africans do not need white people do that for themselves.
And I say this as a descendant of both a African slave and Irish ancestors who came here fleeing similar circumstances in their own homeland.... whom by the way, served as indentured servants and slaves for the British several hundred years earlier. How a woman with $25,000 of dental work (which is not covered by our low-income or government healthcare here in the states) is upset about things that happened to people who she might not even be related too is beyond me.
Especially given that a substantial amount of black people have ancestors that only immigrated here much later - and many of them from places OTHER than Africa (because not all black people are from Africa).

Those slavers seem to have found it important to to ensure that they did a great deal of damage to their expensive farming equipment on a daily basis. They loved to either make it less efficient or just to break it beyond further use and throw it away. One wonders how they stayed in business. While shocking things did happen, the idea that it was a daily standard operating procedure to smash up your farming equipment makes very little sense.

The last time I did it, it took me a good deal of hunting, knowing exactly what I was looking for. It was more difficult to find that the Normans abolished slavery in England and Serfdom was entirely done by Elizabeth I, just now. Google, Wikipedia really are in the process of, if not rewriting history, hiding elements that debunk woke talking points.

Knights used to slip and fall over all the time whilst honing their swords due to the use of wet-stones.
Newborn babies are sharp thanks to the work of whet-nurses.
People tend to feel more romantic in the dark because knight time is chivalrous.
Identifying a man-at-arms was easy as his armour always shone brighter than that of a night.
A castrated ram is called a whether because nobody knows if it's male or female.
Similarly, whether forecasts are called so because people have to guess if it's going to be sunny.
Having male children is always best because no daughter can be as bright as a son.
The brightest star in the solar system got its name by taking after its father.

It didn't come from the English either. William the Conqueror abolished slavery...kind of with his 9th law. There was Serfdom but In England, the end of serfdom began with the Peasants' Revolt in 1381. It had largely died out in England by 1500 as a personal status and was fully ended when Elizabeth I freed the last remaining serfs in 1574. I knew this but in trying to nail it down, I notice I find it harder and harder to do so on Google/Wikipedia. It is almost as though there are some people with influence slowly hiding facts that show western countries in a better light.

Us means that SHE and others were subjected to these things, and I'm sure none of them were done to her personally. I'd be ok if she said "my ancestors" even though (as other commenters have said) there's no way of knowing when her ancestors actually moved to this continent. 2. Where on earth did she get this information? Did she see it in a dream? Did she find a diary of a slave owner who wrote about how he enjoyed visiting his slaves and telling them how he hoped they spent the night before crying? In fact what Master would be awake early enough to wake his slaves anyway? That's what other slaves are for. And why would he talk to them anyway? The only people he'd say "Good Morning" to are his wife and kids.

What a great way to ensure the continuation of hatred in perpetuity. Even combatants who fought against one another and killed each other’s comrades in arms in the Second World War learned to put the past behind them and even become friends in old age. When they resort to inventing examples of racism from innocent everyday situations, it dilutes and calls into question the validity of actual racism. People like this seem intent on harming and making a mockery of their own cause. It also calls into question how ‘rife’ racism really is if true examples are so rare that they cannot call them up but instead have to resort to invention.

I've seen slave homes. Yeah they were tiny, but they had fires. I don't know where that lady got a dark shed from.

As Francis Bacon noted hundreds of years ago:
"The human understanding when it has once adopted an opinion (either being the received opinion or as being agreeable to itself) draws all things else to support and agree with it."

Someone really needs to write a parody of Michael Jackson's "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)" called "D.Y.T. (Dumb Young Thing)" as intro or background music for these segments.

I think there needs to be a term like stolen Valor - for stolen victimisation.
Why is also that Americans say slavery, but they only mean the transatlantic slave trade- not the slavery that was literally everywhere and everywhen across the globe and ages.
Always remember that it was the British empire which ended the slave trade at great expense of treasury and life.

I can guarantee none of my ancestors owned a slave. They were too busy working to keep a roof over our heads and feeding our families, Also fighting in Wars. Some of them didn't come back!

…and “Goodbye” is a contracted form of “god be with ye.” It’s amazing that atheists are not striking that salutation from their lexicon. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Thank you for this English etymology lesson, Chato.
