Here's a bit of history about that area. It's near one of the most dangerous areas in the Tampa Bay area. The mostly black community is upset with the people who they feel are gentrifying the area. Those people just happen to be mostly non-cis.

In my town they arrested the man who painted over the disgusting colourful crosswalk at THREE AM but they still haven't arrested the two men who beat an elderly woman to death downtown on the main street in broad daylight with many witnesses. Both incidents 2 years ago. Just goes to show our priorities - perversion vs the dignity of Life.
Police have to have priorities.
Painting the road which is supposed to only be painted with traffic relevant markings is vandalism in itself.
So, if the painting was an American flag, courts have ruled multiple times that it would not be a criminal act.
But, making a mark on a rainbow flag is a crime? Our country is broken.

Well we have pride rainbow police cars in England apparently. Seen a picture but not one in real life. Expect it's a bit difficult to find police officers willing to drive such a thing and how could you take any officer in one seriously.

I’m trying to figure out why I need to have pride over someone’s sexual choice? Or for that matter why I should care? I don’t paint a flag on my street to celebrate my heterosexual identity and I really don’t (truly there are no words in the English language to describe my total apathy towards rainbow flags) see why it’s my business to know what anyone’s sexual proclivities might be. As long as it doesn’t involve livestock, children or a trapeze making it illegal or potentially harming my property value leave me out of it.

Maybe don't paint pride flags on public roadways? There isn't pride month, there is pride day... every single day of the year and it's getting really tiresome. So if someone has to slam on their brakes and marks up the pride flag, what is the charge?

These virtue signals cost three times as much as standard crosswalks and are more expensive to maintain. Regular crosswalks run $5000 while the non-standard rainbow crosswalks are usually $15000 and can go even higher. It’s a question of responsible use of taxes; the politicians who install them should be investigated for misusing public funds.
Putting these rainbows on the streets is pretty much like waving a red flag in the face of angry conservatives. I don’t blame them!! I’m sick of all this

Calgary has pride crosswalks everywhere, they spent a fortune on it. Calgary is also currently dealing with an emergency after the watermain broke last week and they can't fix it. Good thing they have those crosswalks tho.. Def makes up for the failing infrastructure.

I had tenants that painted the pride flag on the front walk way to the house..(without permission of course) when I told them to remove it, they actually refused. I gave then 3 warnings to remove it and they refused each time and even went to the tenancy board to complain. They were already on thin ice for being continuously late with the rent, they weren’t to bright.
The tenancy sent me a letter telling me that they opened an investigation on the issue and requested a meeting. So…I purchased paint remover, got my pressure washer and removed it myself.
They must have thought that the tenancy board was going to be on their side, because they painted that stupid flag on the sidewalk again that evening. So… I went back the very next day and removed it again, but this time I gave them an eviction notice for causing damage to the property and for being habitually being late with the rental payments.
I contacted the rental board and explained the situation, and surprisingly the rental board agreed with me and even awarded me damages for having to remove the paint on the walkway. Twice. Not only that, upon inspection of the property, I found out that they had painted one of their bedroom walls with the pride flag. (again without permission)
Long story short, they were evicted, and they lost their damage deposit.
These people thought that they could bully me into getting their way, but they lost and got evicted during “pride month”…..how ironic.
Well done, appropriate thoughtful, legal & due process... Glad sanity prevailed in the end..

All joking aside, crosswalks should be uniform. They're there for safety, to communicate to both drivers and pedestrians. Also, more videos where you are looking over your shoulder at them. It makes it funnier for some reason.

Well, this is just a matter of economics. These crossings will need to be repainted 4 - 6 times a year, depending on traffic volume, otherwise they are going to look like dingy old shit. Once the reality sets in with city councilors, they will likely move on to the next timely cause célèbre and stop pouring money into this particular hopeless task.
