- The tiling of the first room, which will become the kitchen and living area, has continued. The weather in Portugal suddenly got hot so I take a well deserved trip to my local river, just 15 minutes away, to while away an afternoon, and I got to see a beaver, or it may have been an otter. Let me know what you think it is in the comments. Next week a lot of things will be happening, hopefully new french doors to the vinyard, and a finished bathroom wall with beautiful timber surround.

With a wide enough walk, you could zigzag it the cats would love it for pouncing and hiding your path might head towards a tree that you need to trim around, etc. every time you trim you could trim a little wider path, but this way you can enjoy the tall flower growth.

Just a suggestion, for your first trim around the perimeter of your land just make it wide enough for you to walk through, when you get back to the beginning, you’ve had your trim the circle just wide enough for a nice walk through. Then go down the middle with a white.
Hi Suzy, another great episode. The weeds/wild flowers have definately had a growth spurt. Maybe you could borrow a few sheep in the interim to keep it all under control. Plus they will fertilise the ground for you as they go. 👍🏼

Suggestion plant some Sage bushes. They are drought tolerant and you can use them as fence hedges and it throws a beautiful purple flower. Low maintenance and trimming. I think it will look lovely in your garden. Just a thought. Nice job!

I noticed that everyone in Portugal uses a strimmer . Curious with a lot that size why you wouldn’t want to use a self-propelled lawnmower unless are they not available.

I did think about it but the grasses and flowers are much too high and dense for a lawn mower. So a strimmer it is 😀

It's all looking good, definitely a petrol strimmer will help with the grass, maybe a mulcher fitting like Leo uses on the indie project. I love your videos ❤️
petrol strimmers can be a pain in the rear, we got an Einhell battery one which uses 2 batteries so 36V rather than 18V. It's not as powerful as my petrol one but then again it doesn't constantly throw a hissy fit and conk out leading me to wasting an hour getting it to go again. To be fair, it is about 10 years old. However, the only one I would recommend if buying a petrol one is a Stihl, they are about the best you can get but that comes at a price
I leave the cut grasses on the ground as the nutrients from the plants will go back into the soil and make even better flowers next year 😀

Makes me want to move out to Portugal and get a nice garden too, as gardens here are few and far between, land is so scare on an island that’s less than 5 miles by 9! (As you know!). Maybe you’ll do a video on tips to moving to Portugal?

@@dreamlifeportugal No, no! 😁 The goats stay inside a fence that we move as they eat the grass. We do this with the welded mesh that we put in when we lay the concrete on a floor, or with a leash that prevents the animal from reaching certain areas.👍

Suzi if you can look at a stihl gas trimmer it will Run for you 20 years or more and you will never have to buy another one it’s worth the money its the worldsbest I have a stihl for 30 years and still running good 👍✌️🤙❤️🇵🇹❤️

I have a lot of low grape vines there so a tractor would be difficult to use. But I would love one 🚜😂
U need to get a lawnmower even if it's a push mower it would be easier on u...I think they have electric now that u can charge 😊
Unfortunately the grasses are too high and dense for a lawnmower. I would have preferred this option for sure 😀💕

Great to have you here 🙏 The cats are wild so they are able to fend for themselves but they will also go to the neighbours houses where they will get fed. Everyone in the small area I live in takes care of the cats. They just decide who they spend time with. As soon as I return they return to me 😀

Ps..tip a bucket of water before potting soil, then another after. I had mountain clay soil, and that worked! Kept roots happy for a while.

Because you have a lot of land that needs to be cut maybe a petrol lawnmower or a second-hand sit-on mower would be better for you in the long run.

If you thinly slice some cucumber and place them in a shallow container(pie tin) the aluminum and cucumber will create a scent slugs hate. They will stay away from your plalnts.
