not buying clothes especially for “going out” is soooo real. I feel like you need like one sparkly piece of clothing and maybe one going out mini skirt and youre set for life. Everything is a going out outfit if you… go out in it lol.
my graduation is in april and ive been feeling like i NEED a new dress which is so ridiculous bc i literally own like 4 suitable dresses. so thank u for reminding us we dont need to buy for occasions lol
I'm in the same boat...but at the same time I feel like for a big occasion like graduation you will remember that as your graduation dress. It is kind of nice to have a dress to mark that occasion you know? Ehhhh but equally I guess whatever dress we wear from our closet then does become the graduation dress. Being a fashionista is hard -_-
no literally !! but also at the same time like laini mentioned do we *need* a dress for one sole occasion and then we'll likely never wear it again and it'll just hang in our closets. like idk lol@@katherine1129
The dress I wore at graduation was one I wore for years after the event. But it was a dress I knew I could use again and again. I guess you should do what works for you!
At my graduation I wore overall shorts with tights, heels and a long sleeve shirt underneath. I had to wear the overalls bc my university did not want you carrying a bag so I needed the pockets for my keys and phone 😆 It worked well and it didn't really matter bc of the gown covering it up!
It also goes the other way - everything you own that classifies as "going out clothes" you can wear day-to-day too. Maybe I'm biased since I'm always the overdressed one but I don't really mind it, I actually love it. It's nice wearing cool fancy clothes just to go to the grocery shop if you're confident enough to ignore the occasional look you may get (but let me tell you most of the times people will look at you because you look AMAZING, not to judge you)
Im oblivious and didn’t even know that skin filters were a thing on UA-cam until you mentioned it in your last video. I really appreciate removing it. It is super lovely and refreshing!
a big tip for me is to plan AND TRY ON outfits before the vacation! it takes away so much stress on the actual trip. i like to plan them on shoplook (which is basically like polyvore)
I take quick photos of my outfits most days, then when I'm too lazy to decide what to wear I can just go back and look at them to pick one. No one has EVER noticed or cared but it makes my life so much easier
I needed to hear that, “dont be the trendsetter”. Its like a repackage “im not like most girls” and i put so much pressure on myself. It gets so toxic to the point where i genuinely “like something before it was cool” but i never got them because its just not available to me. But once it is and everybody is on it, i starve myself from getting it even tho i still like but my desire to be different is stronger. Lol its so stupid. Im gonna be better and just get whatever i like and dont feel the need to be the TrEndSetTeR 😂😂 also congrats on launching the strawberry baby baby teee yayyyyy ❤❤
I agree with waiting to live a bit in the season before buying. So many times I have bought things for the coming season only to have it not work practically and I wasted my money. Last year, I had been practicing buying when I found a "hole" in my closet and I am much more satisfied with my purchases! Its a great tip. ❤
I'm in my 30's and I wore sambas in 2011 when only the punks were wearing them. It's incredible why it took so long for the mainstream fashion to wear them. I think Bella Hadid was the trend setter of this trend at this timestamp.
So interesting you say the punks you knew were wearing them in 2011. Around that time it was mainly the sports kids/footballers wearing them in early 2000s. I love how different styles are adopted by different groups at different times.
I loooove your fashion videos more than anyone else's because you are ALWAYS talking about how you can make anything work, you probably already have enough clothes, we don't always need to buy buy buy consume consume consume in order to mix things up and have fun. And don't worry so much about things matching, just wear what you love. I love it!!!!!!
I love what you said about the going out outfits! its so true that you can use what you already have in your wardrobe instead of buying something new. And also, loving your closet (the actual space)! I find when I reorganize my closet it always feels new again and it stops me from unnecessary purchases. It makes me see everything I own and eager to reach for my pieces again. I always love your videos so much! You make me want to start my own UA-cam channel!
Really love this reminder to just pause and live with what I already have. I’m Trying to get out of a style rut but ready to make that happen with my existing items and being really thoughtful about what I add to my wardrobe. Thanks as always laini!
I LOVE my “closet” setup, we have two full bathrooms in our apartment but we only ever use one of them, so I turned the second one into a walk-in closet/dressing room. I keep my sweaters, pants and t shirts folded in the closet where the towels would’ve normally gone, and hang the rest on the shower curtain rod, which sounds crazy but it’s very very stable I promise lol. I also have a dresser in there for socks & undies, pjs, tanks and leggings, and then my shoes and accessories are mostly in bins or in hanging organizers on the back of the door. Would I recommend this setup to just anyone? No. But if you have an extra room/bathroom that you definitely aren’t gonna use anyways, and nowhere else to store your completely inexcusable amount of clothing, then it’s definitely an option 😂
Living for life and not for events! Amen! That’s what’s trending in my world. Also nooooo, not exposing Lisa’s Facebook memes. Hi, Laini’s mom, we love you!
Generally when you set the trend to early you won't even be seen as and feel like the trend setter I personally love to be someone else on vacation, I rarely go on vacation but packing a funky jewelry or a wizard article of clothing and wearing it day in and day out and accessorizing it makes me feel like i'm twelve again (it can work for hair too)
I'm also doing the 75 day challenge and being in day 6, I have found it quite fun and eye opening, I've regularly had the perceived problem that I have nothing to wear and while still in the beginning I can say I have more than enough clothing to last a lifetime😭
I used to be the type of person to only buy stuff If I knew I was gonna wear them and to look out for stuff missing in my wardrobe, turns out my wardrobe didn't really feel like me and I felt underdressed all the time, now I make sure I have my basics (currently need to get myself a pair of black trousers and a series of monochromatic tops for every season because I'm part of a choir and it's the uniform, I'm also in need of white hoses for my kilt and and overcoat, because it looks awesome... But I can make most of them myself and when I'll acquire them they probably won't even be my favorite pieces) so now my rule is I get into a store(generally during the sales) or at a thrift store (a bit more tricky because stuff are not as visible) and when I see something that catches my eye even if I don't think I'll use it, I try it on : I bought a paisley shawl and a black satin shirt that way and they are two of my favorite pieces, I also got a velvet jacket that doesn't feel quite right but I've been needing some velvet in my wardrobe. It works for jewelry as well
I just think there are fits that only work when you live at the beach or go to the lake, so I safe them for a trip and actually wear them then. Everything transparent, big huts, special items like the flower necklace.
(me & my little brother share an acc) but when you said “especially if you watch my videos i know you have an extensive wardrobe”… i really felt seen LMAO. Ty Laini, truly an inspo ❤️
i def need to go through my clothes and figure out a better way to store them. i love what i can see of alexasunshine83's setup, the clothing rack and shoe shelves in her background are my inspo. also her decorations. she has great taste
But what i don‘t understand why don‘t you style your other sneakers that you have anymore only sambas, you had i think every trendy sneakers and you say you really like them but you don‘t wear them once the new trendy sneaker appears, i love laini and her videos but this annoys me really. I want to see still a video her styling her new balances 550 ( that she has in 3 different colors) or nike P 6000, are you still wearing it in real life but you don’t make videos because they are out of style? Im curious
I wear my Nikes all the time! It’s so lazy but I don’t wear my newbalences because when I was pregnant my foot was too fat and now I can’t get them on with untying them and leaving them back up and while I’m holding a baby it’s just easier to slip on a shoe like my sambas or loafers. I try to show what I wear in real life so I stop styling them for videos without realizing! I’ll bring them back out though, could be fun!

I bought a $300 dress from reformation and I haven’t worn it since graduation:/ save your coin it’s gonna be covered by your gown anyways
At my graduation I wore overall shorts with tights, heels and a long sleeve shirt underneath. I had to wear the overalls bc my university did not want you carrying a bag so I needed the pockets for my keys and phone 😆 It worked well and it didn't really matter bc of the gown covering it up!

Love seeing the skin filter being removed, its suuuuuper refreshing !!

Me too !!
a big tip for me is to plan AND TRY ON outfits before the vacation! it takes away so much stress on the actual trip. i like to plan them on shoplook (which is basically like polyvore)
ugh i realized i have zero warm clothes this winter because i am eternally shopping for cute spring/summer looks and i def need to cut it out lol
Same. This year was the first year that I bought some comfy and warm clothes, so proud of myself. You can do it!
big same. but for me its because my style is more defined in the summertime
This is me!! 😂
omg would love to see a closet decluttering video if you end up reorganising!
I take quick photos of my outfits most days, then when I'm too lazy to decide what to wear I can just go back and look at them to pick one. No one has EVER noticed or cared but it makes my life so much easier

We were wearing them in 7th grade which was 1995/1996! So crazy that they're trendy again.
So interesting you say the punks you knew were wearing them in 2011. Around that time it was mainly the sports kids/footballers wearing them in early 2000s. I love how different styles are adopted by different groups at different times.
@@nadiam926 in the mid nineties it was skaters and soccer players in my area! The punks I knew wore combat boots or Converse.
“Make day to day life more exciting “ 😮😮😮😮😮 what a quotable

So true about going out outfits! It’s so much more fun to mix and match the same pieces for day to night
Really love this reminder to just pause and live with what I already have. I’m Trying to get out of a style rut but ready to make that happen with my existing items and being really thoughtful about what I add to my wardrobe. Thanks as always laini!
the day to day life vs trip example literally changed my mindset

Really excited for all of your Videos! You always inspire me to have fun with fashion and the clothes that I have in my closet.

Oh my God I have it marked in my calendar. I cannot wait. 🎉❤ And tell Brandon thank you! I do screen printing and I know how much work it is.
I'm also doing the 75 day challenge and being in day 6, I have found it quite fun and eye opening, I've regularly had the perceived problem that I have nothing to wear and while still in the beginning I can say I have more than enough clothing to last a lifetime😭
I bought the sambas 3/4 years ago influenced by you and my friends ended up thinking I was a trendsetter😂 not sick of them yet though
I can’t believe I didn’t know about your channel until today! I feel like UA-cam has been keeping a secret from me by not recommending you before

A very nice one, Laini!❤
No spend challenge! I’m also thinking about doing that…. maybe
I just think there are fits that only work when you live at the beach or go to the lake, so I safe them for a trip and actually wear them then. Everything transparent, big huts, special items like the flower necklace.

It’s gospel
i usually love ur vids but this one seems a bit hypocritical to me idk... some of this was pretty good advice tho!
Girly you said you wanted to talk less in ur videos and you proceed to make 4 talking vids. All love but I’m confused.
Just because I want to stop doesn’t mean I will hahaha :(
pls r u doing international shipping for the strawbabies? 🥹
Second this!
