I have watched this video at least 5 times and each time I come away with additional perspective to better understand what is suppose to happen in these two swings. This is the best video/instruction that I have ever seen. You guys are awesome and great instructors.
Such a wonderful explanation about early active hip rotation vs. late passive hip rotation and the should/rib cage leading. Totally changed my swing intention for the better. Thank you so very much!😀
I want to thank you guys for changing my understanding of the golf swing in simple but in a intricate manner.I grind everyday on this motion of taking my backswing with my Right Spiral line to p2 1/2 to P3 with energy and let the arms and club drift upwards as I an rotating and dropping my Pelvis as I drift target side.Them I load my Left Spiral line as the Arms and Club redirect and drift down as I rotate my pelvis and start pushing off the ground with my left leg and pull with my left arm thru impact and get to a finish. I am amazed at how pure my shots are when I do this correctly. As long as I leave my Right Arm out of the downswing I pure it.When I don't the Right Arm throws away the angles and I hit it fat. It's getting better and better everyday thank you guys for revitalizing my swing. And at 52 years young I was really getting frustrated about my game being plateued. But now I feel I'm a new man and I'm excited for 2024,s competitive season for me and my game. You guys rock
After a year, I'm finally getting the hang of the Driver swing... Now feeling the need to start flighting my wedge better I came back to this video and It's even better now than it was a year ago!
Came back to this video as had a struggle on the course. I absolutely love the way you guys explain things dynamically, it really helps me understand the motions clearer. Wedge swing slower chest/ribs rotation and stay in flexion. Driver swing faster chest/ribs flexion and late extension. Key wording for me LATE EXTENSION, makes so much sense.
Super vid and thank you for keeping your promise re driver. For me this brings everything from “load the spiral” and “swinging med ball” vids together. It all makes sense. Squat has killed me for so long as to me a squat is driven from the big leg muscles. A pelvic flexion as you guys demonstrate is so much more dynamic and gives automatic recentreing, shallowing and creates a massive space to swing the arms through (hi heavy point to low heavy point). With practice I can speed up the rib cage for amazing swing speed with so much more control (don’t have to do a Kyle Berkshire dance to get distance!). Your example of the catapult is key. The handle must go up and back somewhere between p6 and 7 - the fish hook move. Really excellent instruction and so holistic. Tx you both.
You guys keep delivering for me. Been following you guys for a few weeks now, following your instructions. I have seen a great amount of improvement on short irons, feel like focusing on the correct sequencing and movement naturally slowed me down. Which massively improve consistency of strike. Love the explanation of late extension, will be using the info given in this video when working on driver later this week. Love it, guys cheers 👍🏻
In neuro linguistic programming. They’re always talking about people’s maps of the world, from the individuals perspective and if you model others and you should be able to get somewhat similar results. I’ve come to learn that all golf teachers are right, but most teach a specific route via hard set positions. In the sense that what they are teaching, will relate closely to the people with similar maps/routes. And to some people that took a different route will think that same coach is wrong. What I love about you guys, is this holistic approach to the systems. Like the heading of your other video global principals.
This is such a cool perspective bro 🙏 as best as we possibly can we try and create maps that work relatively universally (if that’s at all possible, we are trying). Thank you for the comment
Wow @charltonNguyen, really well said. And this goes beyond golf instruction. Just look up the million instructional videos on mixed voice for singers! In any case, Elite Golf Schools have changed my life. I finally have a Grand Unified Theory that allows me to hit the ball better!
Interesting! I’m an idealist that nerds out on theories that say language is an ontology of reality and fundamental. That total reality is derived from it. It’s all idealism or consciousness first. Just thought I’d share that with you considering your background.
Coming back to this video after reading a lot about wedges. What sticks out to me is the amount of forward shaft lean with the wedges here at impact. I assume this video is describing full and distance swings with wedges - Can you all do a video on short game? What I'm really interested in learning from you all's perspectives is a "distance wedge" vs a "pitch" vs a "chip" and how they blend or don't blend. The strategy of short-game. The importance (or non-importance) of width and angle of attack. What "using the bounce" is and its importance (or non-importance).
Another fantastic video. I have struggled for years with creating clubhead speed with driver and have relied on brute strength instead of the “efficiency” approach. Can’t say that I am fixed yet but hit some absolute bombs yesterday using the slingshot method. The hitting a tree with the ax image was very powerful. Keep up the good work!
Comparing the catapult analogy to the body what 2 points of the body relate to the fulcrum of the catapult and the forced end of the catapult? Would force from the spiral be applied to this section. cheers
Really love the instructional videos and they got me thinking differently about the golf swing entirely. I feel a lot more controlled with my short irons and wedges but I'm starting to struggle with my Driver. I remembered this video, so I circled back to rewatch this with a fresh set of eyes (I watch every video as soon as you guys release them). My one question is, does the high chest rotation energy apply to the woods and also long irons as well? Are you guys planning on doing a video on woods and longer irons in the future?
I absolutely love your content and it has been extremely helpful with my wedges and irons! Best golf instruction out there! I still can't quite get driver down though. When you push up off of the lead leg in delivery, does that mean at the finish of your swing that your weight transfers back onto the trail leg? It looks like you guys still finish on your lead leg. I'm one of those golfers that you guys call out in the video with the idea of "get into your lead side" which results in a downward angle of attack, pop flies, and slices with driver because I'm not releasing the club. If you can help clarify that weight transfer that would be super helpful thank you.
Energy levels, drop levels, aggressive rib rotation and passive pelvic rotation could make me a ‘contender’ for the super super senior tour!!!😂😂😂😂😂 Great lesson!!!
Thanks for this video! Very helpful. This at least for me explains why my wedges through 8 iron are dialed and for the most part darts. The driver with this system had been a struggle and I had to early extend just to get my club on the ball. Extension is good as long as it happens appropriately makes more sense the way it was explained in this video. I also like the vibe from the both of you! Keep up the great content!
Awesome video lot of great info I’ve never heard before. On wedge swing are you still pulling up back and away as you do with driver just at lower energy then?
The thought process of the chest being the engine has change everything about my swing for the better. It feels so much more effortless and gave me a fuller understanding of my swing and how to control bottom point, speed, etc. Quick question on the wedge, do you still let the club get released like an iron, but it just happens later because of the less energy in the system? We shouldn't try to force the rear wrist extension and hold it through a normal wedge shot? Love the content!
We appreciate you bro! Good question, generally it doesn’t feel great to hold the wrist structure forever. But feeling it happen “later” is usually a good thing!
Love Riley's interpretation of the "new school" golf swing, which is more body-led (vs arms led) and rotational in motor patterns. Could you guys expand this same video by adding kinetics forces into the sequencing and the influences of the application of GRF for higher speed?
Do you have any videos on how to keep wrist extension prior to release? I have a difficult time keeping wrist extension at impact. The best way I can describe it, is I feel like I don’t have control of the club when I try to keep that wrist extension. It’s causing me to fat a lot of my shots

Depends on each individual for sure! However definitely going to have more energy in woods than irons and way less with wedges!! Thanks for the kind words and keep us posted as you work through any concepts!!
Update. I played my clubs medal this weekend and was determined to incorporate some of your key principles - rib cage rotation, pelvic flexing, heavy point, on top of plane under plane etc. I don’t know if you guys do this on purpose but in most of your shared instruction the terms that currently dominate instruction are rarely used. Swing speed, pressure shift, ground reaction forces, vectors etc. I played a really good round with much more control and accuracy. My distance was not as good but I knew that going out. It hurt off the tee too but again fairways found was much higher. The club face is square to target so much longer. My question is will speeding everything up ever deliver the ball distance now essential to play “good” golf, especially off the tee. I hope so and intend to stick with it to find out. Hope to book a slot with you on line later in the summer. Tx again.
Amazing content, keep it up! You recommend keeping the pelvis tucked a bit at address, but when I go to make that squat move should my pelvis remain somewhat tucked? Mine seems to naturally want to extend my lower back. I think everyone has seen the Tiger vid, and his lower back is arched, this kind of locks me up. I apologize if my terminology is off. What are your thoughts?
It should remain somewhat tucked, yes. We call this spinal flexion vs. spinal extension. Working from p4-impact, we see players generally go into more and more spinal flexion, not the other way around 🙏
With the driver swing, it appears there is a brief moment of let extension between P6 and P8, seemingly in order to release the club or fling the clubhead past the body. This seems to happen before the extension into the finish you discussed. It's evident in TJ's swing seen in slow motion, where the hips/pelvis stop rotating momentarily as the legs extend and the club moves through the ball, and then the rotation continues to the finish. Is that a necessary reaction to the weight of the golf club head, and the energy needed to propel it through the hitting area and get it 'caught up' and then ahead of the turning chest?
Loving this series. Striped my 5 iron for the first time! (Can’t seem to do it consistently though 😢) I’m feeling a little lost with the follow through/post impact. Would y’all be able to make a video going more in depth there?
Great video! I believe what I need to adjust is the relaxed flexibility needed at P6 and through extension. My grip/ wrist flex is too ridged and that makes me want to flip instead of extend. Does that sound right?
Thank you for giving the demonstration for the wedge that I was with was waiting for now. Can you give a video on how you purposely do a fade and draw with this type of swing with the driver or fairway wood?
Thank you so much for talking about the driver. It’s nice to have it stated that you don’t need a different system for driver, just a different idea about how to use the system. Also, how does TJ hit shots with no glove?! 😂
So what would the swing be like for a 3wood a hybrid or a long iron is the upward motion only for anything that is teed up like a driver or a Threewood but once it’s on the ground, then pretty much the swing is like for a regular middle iron
Guessing LPGA and regular weekend slower speed golfers would need to hit up more with driver? Or keep the same technical approach and shaft / face static loft would be properly selected and fitted.? Really interesting and well presented information 😊
In order to hit up with the driver and have a lowpoint before the ball it all depends on how I pull / Push back the lead shoulder/rib after landing on the lead side ?
Adding question- I have trouble with the Separation part meaning the "Flow" into this. When the wedge is demonstrated it is almost one move without turning into the left arm (RHanded) is that the "Chill Out" part to allow it to collect then turn into it?
Really enjoying the videos. Within this swing system, can you guys do a video on what tweaking or feels can help avoid pulls / pull hooks? With so much chest rotation it seems like the club path would always tend to pull left at impact…
The club has to be matched up appropriately, for sure. The club must fall behind in transition and stay there for a while until chest rotation shoots the clubhead “out” into the golf ball. Keep watching the videos, or if you prefer, sign up for a swing analysis for a quicker road to improvement. Either way, lightbulb moments are coming 💡
Not sure what this means! Flexion is a big piece of the puzzle, yes. As well as arm and wrist action. So many things could be contributing to your left path. Keep grinding 🙏
I was working on the Re-Centering/Drop move, like you said. It seemed to work great when, after the pelvis drop, it felt like my butt was a counterbalance to the swinging club. I felt I could turn more completely through impact.
I think that the swing thought of getting your hands to the appropriate shaft lean is much easier than thinking about getting lower. It just happens, for me anyway.
So in theory the low controlled swing with the wedge, is a lot like, what I think of as a punch shot in that I want to hold the right arm angle a bit longer. On the driver, I want that momentum to release thru the ball, like a catapult. What is throwing me off is the head drop in the practice swings vs the real swings. I don’t really see that head drop, with the longer clubs. Great video, thank you.
@@elitegolfschoolsawesome video. I’m hitting my clubs much more solid now. Is it ok to fall backwards on the driver swing? It seems that this system promotes that.
Lower dynamic loft allows some of these “slow” wedge swings to actually go further than a sped up rib system. Ideal launch conditions create nice flighted wedges that go plenty far without much effort from the player 👍🏼
I just found another point of view at this video. In your videos, four main forces are exist, lateral-drop-rotational-extension. So, for wedges, lateral and dropping force are good for lowering attack angle. Rotational and extensional force are great for speed, but not suitable for wedges. So your meaning lowering energy at wedges is, lowering amount of rotational and extensional force!
Question: Since how we stand and hold the club has not much to do with how the ball is struck - why start like that in the first place? It must be the easiest way, since nothing else is taught but is it really? Maybe that’s something you care to elaborate- Why adress looks the way it does if impact is so different
Just wanna point out: dynamic loft is the loft of club, with x amount of shaft lean, at impact. The one involves dynamic loft and AoA is called spin loft. Great video otherwise
I have watched this video at least 5 times and each time I come away with additional perspective to better understand what is suppose to happen in these two swings. This is the best video/instruction that I have ever seen. You guys are awesome and great instructors.

Don’t rip the chest open immediately in transition, drop in the pelvis first, and feel like the club swings OUT away from you to the ball
@@nelsonjames1272 so awesome! Loads of different ways to do it!!
There will be less drop with longer clubs, due to more speed and more extension/release in the club 👍🏼
@@elitegolfschoolsawesome video. I’m hitting my clubs much more solid now. Is it ok to fall backwards on the driver swing? It seems that this system promotes that.
@@pragshah1818 late you may step out of it BUT only because the spiral energy demands it. No fake moves 😉
Can you explain exaccty where center of mass ribss?
Great stuff! This is gonna take some serious mental remapping 😂
Let the work begin 🙏
You guys are the Greatest! That's no Lie!!! I've watched 1000's of UA-cam videos in 10 years. You are the only one I have commented on!!!
Where can I get an elite golf bag and gear?
Due to the slow down of the rib system with wedge is it normal for yardages to decrease or does the dynamic loft negate the slower swing speed?
Lower dynamic loft allows some of these “slow” wedge swings to actually go further than a sped up rib system. Ideal launch conditions create nice flighted wedges that go plenty far without much effort from the player 👍🏼
Great
So if you chunk the ball when using the wedge…does that mean you released the wrist angles too soon? Even if your hip flexion was correct?
Certainly could be a factor, but there are others as well
I just found another point of view at this video.
What is Map and who is Luke Bracky? Thanks for the good stuff!🙏
Luke Bracke… check him out on the gram
Superb
🙏
Question: Since how we stand and hold the club has not much to do with how the ball is struck - why start like that in the first place? It must be the easiest way, since nothing else is taught but is it really? Maybe that’s something you care to elaborate- Why adress looks the way it does if impact is so different
It has a lot to do with how the ball is struck actually - setup influences so many things. We will make a video on this sometime!
Ty, I was wondering why I get the topspin on my driver……
🙏
Can all these happen in 1½ seconds though
Are you still abducting and adducting the arms with this for wedge impact?
Yes!
More on the driver please
Gotchu bro
Thanks bud! @@elitegolfschools
Guys would love to see a video about honey hole. Specifically like when to squat, transition, etc. 🔥
On the list!
Hey no clashing clothes😂 Great video of course! Learned a lot from you two already!!!
Appreciate it bro!
What about iron vs driver?
Vera similar, middle of the spectrum 👍
Subbing like you dudes.
Crystal clear cap
Huh?
@@elitegolfschools message received? Clear as water captain? I'm picking up what you're putting down!
Just wanna point out: dynamic loft is the loft of club, with x amount of shaft lean, at impact. The one involves dynamic loft and AoA is called spin loft. Great video otherwise
Thanks for the time but much too complicated detail for the weekend golfer. Address, rotate, shift your weight, club on plane. Hit the ball.
Haha. Think about it any way you want my man 🙏
