Honestly, one of the best videos on hitting the driver I have seen. Would be great to have another one covering the release since I think that is also an area where things can go side ways.
Agreed upon. This chap has a very acute way of describing his theories, unlike a great many other so called specialists; who tend to speak complete jargon.
The old dude walking past was class 😂😂😂😂
JT is great at explaining how the body should work in the golf swing. Took lessons with him in NY, great instructor!
much under appreciated skill - to more accurately describe what the body should be doing
I took this to the course this past Saturday. Shot a 77 from blues (6,450). Haven't done that in over 8 months. Really tried to work on protracting my left arm. Haven't had this much fun in a long time. I'm 64 yrs old. Thanks you for that !
love the way science/objective anatomy was brought into this video but in a way that was simple to comprehend how it impacts the "power" of swing.
JT is awesome
Really good - can’t wait to try it! Thank you!
Great video! I've seen friends do this and couldn't explain to them what they should try changing, but now I can just link them to this video!
Excellent video! Thank you both!
trail arm extending the thoracic spine feels very connected and powerful. great tip!
I have the privilege of working with JT and this is a phenomenal explanation and I can truly say this works great! My drives are so much better and I don’t even have these movements totally down yet!
Great video, definitely saving this one for future reference.
I just had to follow you bro. You put words to what ive been working on this year with amazing results with waaaay less effort for me. Great content keep it coming.
This was a great lesson.
Great video. I love the anatomical discussion. JT seems like a good teacher.
Can't wait to try it! Thanks guys!
Huge! The number of times I've seen couches say extend your spine in the backswing (essentially standing up leaning backwards) and thought, that sounds strange. Sure they couple it with side bend so it looks reasonable but this shows it's a different move altogether. JT is brilliant and thanks for bringing him to the channel, really good.
Need to see more from this guy. Very interesting stuff
He is special. I shot a lot with him lot more coming. The raw footage is on the member’s section now
This is the best video I've seen about winding up in the backswing. It feels way more powerful. I've taken countless lessons in my life, and no one has described properly how that right arm should go back.
My swing has been terrible of late and instantly improved once I began practicing this technique. Thanks for the ideal lesson.
same for me! Im so excited to get out there again. So glad I came across this. Amazing instructor!
@@jlaughlin1973 oh ya. the delusions of grandeur are rising up in me again too.
Super dope video, thanks!!! 🙏🦾🙏🦾
Best driver tips ever. Thanks
That "right arm has to supinate" was very helpful!
Excellent, anatomy experts are really useful
first video I've seen of yours and instantly subscribed. Best explanation I have seen and I understand much more now. Thank you
Update: Now its the next day and I applied these fundimentals today and had such a great improvement in my drives. After my round, I didn't want to stop playing. Amazing....
Love it. Rotate and throw.
Simply Really Good !
Yep! It’s not SIMPLE but it is SIMPLY REALLY GOOD.!
Interesting. I'll have to try these. I've been stuck at ~140 ball speed. Will be interested to see if I can pick up some MPH!
Great stuff as always, B.
Thanks MRK!
Another good one!!
best video ever ❤ keep it up!
Amazing video!
JT . MY new fave coach .
In my humble opinion my trail side scapula moving 2 to 4 inches towards my spine starts my entire body rotating to move my club to my backswing and then from there I use the power of my three right hands to twirl my club head clockwise with centrifugal force through the ball to the finish of my swing. I think that was the sling action you may have left out in this video. At age 77 I find it feels great! Cheers🥂😊👍
For me and my swing, the best driver video ive seen. Especially the visual of what a bad swing looks like compared to a correct one.
Key take away for me:-
- the release of the lead arm scapula when lead arm shaping above pec in back swing.
- keeping the mid to upper back rounded during back swing. Feels so much more natural.
Awesome video😁👍
Thanks!
Best explanation of swing body mechanics ever and loved the visual of the stretch band. Just a pity I currently swing like the bad example and have been since starting golf 2 and a half years ago, despite a number of lessons!!! Great video to add to many others you have posted, some great content for all levels, no matter where you are in the golf journey.💪👍🏌️♀️
bringing the left arm over the pectoral & right elbow over the seam gives me a deep back swing. . Thanks
Awesome information!
Glad it was helpful!
I think I did this today on the course. I just tried to really keep my lead arm off my chest with a good rotation and getting my right elbow a little higher. I piped one, effortlessly, almost 300! I am usually around 250-260. I couldn’t replicate it the rest of the day. I hadn’t seen this video until now but I think what he is describing is what I did. I will definitely have to play around with some of the concepts here.
“Ironman’s light” is the best tip on rotation I’ve ever heard! 👍
It’s just a different name but has existed for more than 100 years.
That explains my 200 yard drives which require 200% effort.
Nice discussion.
Love it.
this is the most eye opening thing ive seen in awhile
I couldn’t agree more!
That’s awesome - happy to hear it!
15:48 LOL😂 great tips, ta
Top class video ❤
great tips on how to hit a long drive effortlessly.
The visuals are good. I get a bit lost with all the terms. ‘Wrong way’/‘right way’ demos are good. Love where you’re going with your channel. Feels like it’s coming together. Let’s see if it helps my game…😅
p.s. the bad drive is pretty much how mine looks and I struggle to exceed 80/85 mph club head speed…😂
i love skylinks! so cozy
After watching JT help Micah Morris, who already hits the ball a ton, I was intrigued. After this video, I am amazed. The future is bright for JT....and maybe my golf game :) Thank you both!
Thx BD
Good to see this. I stumbled upon elements of this backswing at the driving range a few weeks ago and was hitting farther than ever with less effort. Unfortunately I let a playing partner talk me into focusing on the wrong things and I lost it. I will retry today.
Unfortunately I let a playing partner talk me into focusing on the wrong things and lost it…Be Better Golf’s Guest Pros are all good in their teachings .Where this goes wrong is when players watching the virtually hundreds of pros showing their methods are projecting it back on the host who rarely heads all the advice for good and desperation sets in.
Spot on
This was a great video.
Strong agree!
Great video. The JD grip and rip school.
More fun that way
15:48 true star of the video. Lol
Good stuff Brendon. His tips make a lot of sense. Even if he sounds like a chiropractor. 😁
Excellent! He's absolutely correct.
Thanks a lot!!
Thanks to you for WATCHING and commenting!
You’re welcome
10:39 Holy shit that looks like one of my better drives. Love JT's perspective. Thanks for bringing new coaches and experiences on the channel, Brendan!
Great stuff, I’m a lefty but play right handed, I can’t throw a ball with my right arm very well at all, but I can punch great with left arm.
So looking forward to really trying these moves/feels. The right arm position at the top looks like the classic Waiters tray of drinks.
Classic
I’m with you there. I’m a Lefty who swings righty, and it makes sense, as I know it’s been successful when I pay attention to doing it correctly.
Great videos man!
Really appreciate the value you bring to the golf community. Hopefully you take this the right way, but if you could let your guest explain their thoughts before cutting them off, that would be awesome. You ask terrific questions and can understand you get excited, but you tend to either to talk past that initial question or once they get started, you interrupt them with another question / thought ☺️
PS. If you could cover the driver release in particular , that would be sweet. Much love man!
A fantastic video! Don’t worry about trying to swing. Golf club - become aware of these body movement and body parts. SLINGS!!! Thank you
Holy technical
Love JT he’s a beast
So athletic
I will watch this again but transition with the right arm is it a throw or an uppercut punch love this guy more please.
Thanks! I am going to start being more mindful of loading my right arm!
You can do it!
I’m sorry. This was amazing!!!
Thx for saying that!
Love to see the thoughts with Irons
Great video!!! One of the best I’ve seen in awhile! Very informative! 💪👍🏻
My right shoulder has trouble externally rotating due to repeated dislocations. Any accommodations to this?
Good stuff, nice to hear a pro talking about rolling the right hand on the backswing, opening the club face instead of trying to hold the face square which often causes the problems he demonstrates.
yeah eveyone is trying to "keep it square to the arc" now
I thought this would be disaster as he’s describing, but He’s not rolling the clubface open. It’s still square to the arc all the way
@@andybecker500115.28 he talks about "rolling the right hand to the right", his right palm points up to the sky, club face up to the sky, not square to the swing path. All good golfers open the club face on the bs with the possible exception of Matt Wolff.
Very interesting information can't wait to try it. It seems like Freddy Couples does a lot of wrong things in his backswing but obviously bombs it! Does he just drop the right elbow perfectly into the slot and supinate the right forearm or what?
Ah Skylinks! My old home course when I played at Lakewood High. Jamie Mulligan -- Patrick Cantlay's coach -- taught me and a bunch juniors there.
Probably before the redesign?
@@BEBETTERGOLF yes, long before the redesign. I played on the team 1992-96.
I am a 63 years old that is fighting for more distance. Two years ago I was at 200 yards total with my driver. I am up to around 240 yards now. I am not very flexible at all. I always feel bound up and struggle to get more speed. I can hit balls at my house. After seeing this lesson with Micah, I hit my 3 hybrid, and I could not believe what I felt for speed. I swear it would go father than my normal 3 wood (I really can't tell as I am hitting into a woods). They were smoked down the middle and steaight. Then I hit my 50 degree wedge. Same thing. I can't remember the last time I felt compression like that. I hit them as far as my normal pitching wedge. Again, I could not believe the speed. I usually hit too deep of a divot and fat. This divot was thin with ball first contact. I hit 4 balls and they were all in a 7 foot circle.
So excited to try this again. I only had a few minutes last night. Thanks for this posting video
@5:55 you gotta get loaded was epic 🪢➰🪢➰
Wow here I am doing drills to stop my right scalp from retracting in the back swing cause it’s so natural for me
Great stuff from JT, loved learning about what really causes spine extension in the backswing. Never really bought the S&T demonstration of spin extension and perhaps why the S&T coached player I know seems to leave so much speed on the table.
Actually very surprised nothing was mentioned on GRF or the legs. JT did touch on the right leg but insufficient imo - I hear some say load the R leg and others say turn into the R leg.
Load and turn into the right leg is saying the same thing 2 different ways
@@JayTakeProfits some do differentiate the 2.
This was an Amazon explanation of the swing for power
Thanks
Watched this last night and applied it today at the range....WOW, WHAT A DIFFERENCE THIS MADE!!!! I normally hit 300-320, depending on how much of a roll I get. But adding the spine extension, keeping my arm above my chest rather than on or below it, keeping the curvature in my back and lowering the tee made a HUGE difference. I feel much more in control and I felt a huge difference in the torque when I whip the ball. I didn't measure it but I know....I just know that I up'd my swing speed. The ball is going straighter than what I've been getting with my swing. This technique improved my distance, torque, speed and aim immensely. I'm going back out tomorrow just to make sure that today wasn't a fluke. I'll keep you posted...THANK YOU, THANK YOU AND THANK YOU AGAIN!!!
Wow.
11:25 ball NUKED!!
That Kyle Berkshire clip is interesting - he pretty much just stands up at the start of his swing which is counterintuitive.
I've seen a great improvement with my drives using you ideas. Should I bring my lead arm above my pec for iron shots also?
Yes
also think of a rubber band, hold it vertical, and start twisting it, and after 4 or 5 twists, let go, and the rubber band with spring back ..also if you notice at the top of the back swing his right arm is parallel to the ground and, at the top of his finish, his left arm is more higher and straighter...great job..
Does this work for woods on the fairway too? sorry; dumb question
The Iron Man light analogy I can 100% get on board with. Unfortunately I don't have a PHD in Biology and most of this went way over my head.
Thx Nick. Just turn the light and get the left arm nice and high
Same movements for iron swings including scapulas?
yeah basically
Man we needed a drill for the downswing from him. I’m having problems throwing my right arm the right way 😔
It's coming
Holy shit TMI
If I can loose my gut I can probably do that 😂
This all makes so much sense. The problem i run into is that i play righty, but im naturally left handed. So my left hand wants to dominate my swing, and trying to have a swing thought of a throwing motion feels alien to me with my right arm. Distance isnt a problem for me, i can regularly drive it 300+. Its keeping it straight thats the problem, i feel like im cutting across the ball and i know my swing path is very heavy out to in. Probably 5-7 degrees on bad days. That left arm dominates.
Now follow it up with how to fire the load! Great vid
Great video.... one suggestion is to refer to right and left as "lead arm.." and "trailing arm..." to help the 10% of golfers that play left handed ;-)
Can we do this for Irons to?
Would this be the same deal with the irons
Lots of Mike Austin and Mike Dumaway in this swing style....Especially the right side contraction of the scapula
I’m a huge mile dunaway fan. #2 guy I would have loved to interview
What is the device you use to tell the swing speed, carry distance etc.?
Foresight GC Quad
Had a lesson last week and was told to use my left arm for power 😅 pga pro
Would the same principles apply to the irons?
Ywah
Yeah
