  • In today’s video, we dive deep into the role of the arms in the golf swing. We hope this video helps realize that the role of rotation in the golf swing is not to NOT USE the arms, but to USE THE ARMS MORE EFFECTIVELY. This is a major key.
We love seeing your comments and answering your questions, and encourage you to keep them coming. Thank you so much!

I stumbled across this website about three weeks ago…. Shot 86 earlier this week after hovering in the mid 90’s for years and I know with a bit more play and practice with this system my score will be lowered… first time I’ve ever had confidence in a swing motion… I know the Elite system works… it’s like the secret sauce that I’ve been missing to put together all those lessons and videos that I struggled with for years. Thanks to the Elite team for sharing the inside story of the golf swing.

Y’all are terrific! I’ve been trying for ten years to shallow the club without manually using the forearms and wrists. I knew I was doing something wrong but never found anyone who could explain it. Never thought of it coming from the lead shoulder. I can’t think of a more counter intuitive body movement. Now please delete this video and don’t tell anyone else!😉 Keep up the good work!

Great content and so spot on! I had a three day one on one instruction series from an Aussie named Bradley Hughes. Watching this video brought back so many similar teaching thoughts that Bradley was trying to get across to me. He was a great player in his own right. It is so eye opening that it was similar and yet I totally didn't really understand it all until seeing this video. It's as if the puzzle pieces finally fit together to make a picture of complete sense to me and I wanted to thank the crew at Elite golf. Love the site and keep up the awesome work. Thanks again.

Thank you for this whole series of in- depth instruction! I love that you guys take the time to really explain things. You're like listening to a long-form podcast vs just a sound bite! I've been so confused by transition and the forces that make it happen. I have chased the trail elbow creating it but w/o the arms staying up, you just get pulling. I was intrigued by an earlier vid that talked about the 'Orion's Belt' created by the lead elbow. This vid takes it a couple of steps further! Sorry, I need to stop writing and get to the Range to work on this!

This was the EXACT video that I needed. I was doing lead shoulder flexion into adduction to shallow and getting stuck and flipping and getting just beyond frustrated with trying to stop my flip and finding it impossible. I've never felt so good through impact after trying this at home. I cannot wait to get to a range! I gotta watch this video like 10 times to make sure I got it all.

@@elitegolfschools Update. I made it to the range. Dear lord this video solved SO MANY problems for me. Almost 200 balls and only 1 slice because of a heel strike. The face just doesn't move! A heap of fats/thins but I still gotta fix a bit of an early extension, re-figure out good ball position after this swing change, and the transition (P5.5) doesn't feel natural yet so not a tour pro after one range session but progress was made baby! Let's go! I'm not lost anymore! I'll be a tour pro NEXT range session for sure 😅

I have always tried to get into the same p5 position as you guys show at 12:25 but the club came way too under my plane and my miss was a nasty duck hook. This video combined with the rib sway / drop lets me know that i was not ever getting my sacrum rotated away from the target and it was just my arms shallowing the club and getting stuck in transition and flipping my hands through impact. Hi, thanks for the great stuff. When I slow down TJ's swings in the video, although awesome, it doesn't look much like what you are describing to us. His shaft is much steeper and lead arm is very close to his chest. My question is, are the positions discussed more of a feeling rather than reality? Many thanks.

    • @elitegolfschools
      @elitegolfschools  Рік тому

Yep, agreed. Difference between static and dynamics. Also, most players add in adduction in transition and can be detrimental to their golf swing. Moving the lead arm in this fashion can help balance out the players’ system nicely 👍

i've seen this swing explained multiple times on youtube by different instructors, including Milo Lines, no one has explained it as well as this. I tend to spin out & push the ball right (as a right hander), the only way to fix it was to flip the club or really push from my front foot to release the club, this movement seems game changing, will try it at the range!

I am really enjoying this channel.
    Really great detailed content.
You mention that the ‘Club System’ is designed to where the center of mass (the club head more or less) is to be taken above the plane going back, under coming down, & out going through.
Can you elaborate on why/how that has been determined through the clubs design?
Have you already done a video on hand path VS club head path? I feel like you may have, I just can’t place it at the moment… I’ll have to start from video 1 to your most recent release 😊 😆
    These videos are great.

That movement of the lead elbow moving up and out to the left to shallow was amazing. I'm trying to remember - didn't Moe Norman teach that same thing? I think he used to say he liked to pretend he was trying to hit the ball with the backside of the club face.
I always thought it was odd that everyone acknowledges Moe Norman is perhaps the greatest ball striker of all time, yet almost nobody teaches his method, and in fact a lot of the current teaching out there is the opposite of what he was advocating.

Great info, certainly good stuff. Just a question when the lead elbow raises to shallow the club and bring the trail elbow down and in , what the brings the club down and around? Is it the lead elbow now rotation towards the lead hip?

    • @elitegolfschools
      @elitegolfschools  Рік тому +1

The com of the club will be dropping because of this arm action plus drop in the pelvis so the forces in the club at already going down bc of this, simply turn the chest to match it up at the strike

The medicine ball drill gave me the feeling but I would lose it because I did not understand why the hit through the ball was so stable until this explanation. The elbow sensors is wonderful image. As an athlete I felt the wow moment. I have hit some amazing shots on the course and range time is so much more productive. I am getting an ability to fade the ball just by thinking fade. Awesome content! Haven’t seen anyone describe the swing like you guys! I’m curious about the combination of lead arm flexion and internal rotation and how it appears to make the trail wrist look flexed and bowed through transition. Can see it clearly around 12:16 when Riley demonstrates. So many instructors comment on this bowed wrist at the top and how many top pros have this in their swing. Koepka, DJ, Hovlund, etc. Am I seeing active wrist movement or am I just now seeing the flexion/internal rotation combo that gives the appearance of the bowed wrist you always read about? It’s much easier to do the flexion/IR combo than actively bowing the wrist, IMHO. Great stuff and it really makes you think!

This is so good. I’ve been a player that has gotten my right arm (elbow sensor) way behind me which caused me to use my hands and shoot the energy out to the right resulting in pushes and hooks if I over used the hands. My question is when do you let the arms fully extend? When I make this move and keep the arms in front of the body it seems very body driven which is fine for a fade pattern but how do you play a draw. Are the hands involved at all? You guys are the best….Great content!

I do have a question in regards to staying connect. I’m always shocked at your context guys. Great work! I’ve golfed for 40 years and the thought of lead arm abduction and trail arm adduction in regards to arm action is in stark contrast to my pull as hard as you can with you left arm from the top instincts. I almost instantaneously noted improved club face stability and center strikes much more regularly. I found that perhaps a minimal drop in club head speed was accompanied by a much more efficient strike and more consistent carry numbers. Keep up the amazing content!!

How does the club head get down to the ball to create a center hit with a forward leaning shaft? Is there any conscious effort or does it happen spontaneously? Love it!

Ribs pressure forward in transition, big part of shaft lean 🙏

I understand how the ab/aduct action applies force. Not sure how the vector force has direction? Any sequence to the ab/ad action, does the shoulder line align to the target for a length time or maybe experiment to time the release for efficient direction.
    Experimenting but not great results.
    Your thoughts please.
    Thanks

Awesome!! I feel like my right elbow flies on backswing. Are you letting you trail elbow fold going back?

What do you guys think about keeping the left elbow point at the target through impact and beyond like bryson dechambeau talks about.

Sir! Are you saying you should feel as if you’re hitting off your trail side due to the amount of turn in downswing?.

Everything super helpful! I feel easier to implement it to irons but harder for drivers. Any suggestions?

Is there a break down or explanation of each of the positions that’s being mentioned? P5, P3.5, etc.

Bradley Hughes teaches a similar swing method. You folks explain the technique exceptionally better. Your anatomy based instruction leaves few questions, with detailed demonstrations are clearly understood after one gets Riley's lingo.

How do you achieve swing depth and pressure shift with such a motion? Need a video on that topic

Continue to turn the thoracic into the backswing. Turn creates the depth

Great lesson, ty. Gonna see if you have a lesson on the hands-forearms.
Though what if I'm not keen on the swing of Joaquin mito and hovland? Seems a lot of special flexibility that wont translate well as one ages. Joaquin consulted mike Adam's with concerns on this very matter. I guess Viktor's movement seems the best on body among the 3 for longevity.
Saw a 74 y.o man with 2 really bad knees in braces, 10% body rotation, swing L to L all arms 175m with great accuracy and height and his friend mid 60s with what one would say is an full body, swing arms taut going 125m using the same club. It really got me thinking.

Every golf swing is about match ups, no doubt. We’re simply speaking on highly rotational actions and their match ups

I've been playing golf for 54 years and have a 5 handicap, and I am ''technical''. But this guy Riley Andrews is ''wow' technically. What a great understanding of body anatomy related to golf swing. Never learned so much in one video. Have been trying to swing all my life without noticing the movement of my scapula region. I thought that region did not move!!!

My right elbow is always behind me. Swing path typically 7-10 degrees in to out. I could be jumping to conclusions but this looks great.

What do you mentally try to do to match/ sync/ aligne the rate of ab/aducting the shoulders/arms to get a straight, square impact? Is there a focus point for the grip end of the club? I also understand the arms go in a straight line while the pivot is curving so are you releasing at the fling along the tangent line??
Hopefully I'm expressing this appropriately but just trying to grasp.
    Much appreciated!!

Going to try simplifying things. Is the ab/aducting the shoulders a passive or reactive action?
