@@elitegolfschools It's starting to click out there on the range! I'm finally I'm hitting fades and only missing in one direction taking the left side out of play. So much more consistent. Absolutely mushing the ball center face. I can finally feel what a good strike feels like and the clubface feels so straight. However, my miss is now a wipe fade. Does that mean I'm coming in too steep? What drill should I practice to keep that club more shallow and keep those baby fades?

One of the best videos that I've viewed. I have seen others that never give the entire explanation that you d elicer. Excited about your site and your presentations.
I made a comment in another video which you very kindly responded to my total frustration. This video made up for my stupidity. The idea of two separate forces, two fulcrums, makes understanding all the golf instruction makes sense. Now I get it.
At 8:55 Riley demonstrates the desired chest rotation as just a chest move and then at 9:15 Riley shows it again but (to me) it seems like a pelvis driven move. Can you help me understand a little better why the two look so different and which one (or perhaps what) should we be trying to actively make happen in our swing to unload the spiral? Many thanks for all the super info. Riley, I am coming to see you in CO in a couple of weeks.
Tom can't wait to see you stud! When you see these differences you're seeing the dropping of the pelvis which begins to open the pelvis up. The arm and club system is still going up and away as the drop happens so it appears that the pelvis is actively rotating when it is not.
@@elitegolfschools I will work on this before seeing you. So far, it feels awkward and my success rate is poor. Looking forward to getting straightened out!
Very useful for me as it turned out yesterday. Even more so as my teacher is "compatible" with your system. As your instructions are kept within ONE system each building block (video) becomes clear. Thank you guys. Olle
This may be one of the most influential golf instructions I've ever seen. I have struggled with "the transition" a long time. But after watching this, and thinking about it, I've come to the conclusion (and the feels seem to bear it out, but I'm very early into exploring this) that the tempo of winding up the spiral is very important. Just enough impetus to get the club/arm unit all the way to the top, but not so much as to keep it from a feeling of almost floating as gravity starts to overcome the impetus. Just as it's "cresting", or slightly before, I feel freer to make the pressure shift, because I "almost have nothing" in my hands. The unit then falls, and I'm already rotating, now loaded. Am I even barking up the right tree, here? This feeling seems to let me start the pressure shift just before the impetus crests. I have never been able to accomplish that very well, or at all, really, before thinking about it this way. When you see a pro go into the shift before the arms stop going up, it looks like they are doing two things at once. But they are not, right? They're just actually waiting for that passive club/arm unit impetus to crest, before doing one thing, and that's getting the body going the other way. It seems that is actually a confusing illusion (two things at once), because they've "already done the impetus part" (loading the spiral), which gets the arms and club up. They're no longer focused at all on the turn, or elevation, because it's done. They've supplied just the correct amount of spiral impetus to get it done. Not too little; not too much. All focus can then be on the pressure shift and unloading.
Your explanations make it so easy to understand, and to talk about how individualistic this feeling is, is so important. I seem to hit it best when I don't hang on to that wrist angle, swing is more relaxed and effortless. When I hold on to that wrist extension, I feel like I am fighting my own swing, and strikes are very poor, need to learn to trust the system, if that makes sense!
You have the best golf UA-cam channel! I have a DeWiz and it shows that for the best ball strikers the hands reach maximum speed about a foot BEFORE impact. That would seem to contradict what you are saying yet all great strikers of the ball certainly appear they are whipping the club AFTER impact.
That data is spot on. The pivot in the hands/wrists must slow down in order to release and unload the COM of the club. We’re similar showing how the spirals influence the entire system here. Cool stuff!!
Bryson has 145 clubhead speed, 22 mph maximum hand speed that occurs 12 inches before impact. Crazy that 22 mph hand speed that can covert to 145 clubhead speed.
Thank you both of you a ton. The term you mentioned "dual motors" is what I've been looking for. I'm one of golfers who struggle with using only main engine and never figure the way to make a fluid swing. Load and unload phases massively help me to understand how to synchronize two motors effectively. However, I've found another issue that can ruin the swing is wrist action through impact. I persnoally find it is hard to maintain proper wrist hinge.
@@elitegolfschools really changing my golf game. Struggled with early extension and excessively inside and stuck swing path all my golfing life. So these videos have changed my concept of the golf swing.
I have been playing better and hitting longer as i am able to get into the P5 position and swing thru. However I have been struggling on how i can finish from P5 and this video has the best commentary to achieve that. I think if i can achieve what's taught on this video, i will be hitting my ball longer and straighter. Cannot wait to go try this out. Thank you. Fantastic detail video.
I appreciate the explanation of the dynamics along that the feel may be slightly different for individuals. My most recent feel is not having to feel stacked favoring my lead foot and more of a centered rotation with weight more forward. Now I am feeling somewhat flat footed with better width and depth by loading the spiral. The unload is more automatic and more fluid. Misses are better, flushers are mid high ball flight. The kettlebell, medicine ball or dumbell drill with arms in front is a huge benefit to train the movement for me. Going to try the rope drill! Face management is way better. When I fire to early the hands go and the shot is fat or I early extend. Resulting in a block/Push.
Riley - Did not know where to post this so I chose here. Your UA-cam channel page does not have a search function (whereas many others do). It would be very helpful to have one so we could efficiently find the video we want to review.
Great contents!!! @11:15 .... regarding the arm system unload for the sling effect, I assume this should be applied to all FULL swing (for all clubs), correct? I'm curious about the longer clubs (including a driver). Of course, we need to adjust the position of the ball, but do we need to do the arm system unload a little bit sooner for longer clubs (especially for a driver)? Thanks.
Amazing video!!! Map is getting clearer and clearer!! Through the hit, I’m just wondering if it should primarily be through an active upper spiral movement which leaks energy into the arms and club, or if it should be an active hit with the arms, where the body plays a more supportive role? Your videos seem to say both, so I assume it’s an intention that’s based on the tendencies of different players?
P9, P10 is where its at. Sure it can be screwed up many ways, but giving yourself direction/permission to go there is huge. I would even suggest making a few swings starting @ P10 and go ahead and strike the ball. I would do it with as much speed as your system can handle while maintaining rhythm & Balance.
Thank You very much for Your very valuable contributions that are founded on a well understood system behind. It seems that Your system has the potential that it is no more necessary to study thousands of golf tips and fixes on YT. But in terms of the engine I have a question. The torque of the upper body is a power source but also the "dropping" combined with squatting, internal rotation of left knee and "backfiring" of the left leg. This drives at the end the torso or is this understanding wrong ?
Great video again guys! Love the conceptual but can u explain how u “feel” the club go down to the ball while still finishing up at 45 degrees left of target? When I try to aggressively feel these concepts I tend to be “spinny” and the sh-nks start to appear in abundance Thanks
It would cool if you could do a video on a detailed recommended takeaway/backswing method and maybe cover pros and cons of DJ vs Hovland vs other. The Hovland one seems to auto-magically promote the proper shoulder "swim" movement going back but I can't seem to get the hang of it.. I have no issue doing DJ one though. Thanks guys. I've been hitting the best short irons with your method but I'm snap hooking everything longer than 9 so I'll have to capture my swing to figure that one out.
You guys just keep killing it! So for a diagnostic, if a player gets to a solid P5.5 and then at P6 the club is way under plane, is it probable that player is a 1/20 and needs to feel earlier secondary fulcrum fire? Pretty sure I know the answer here, but.. Thanks guys!!
Excellent content, thank you. I was wondering if there is a reason why the role of the lead knee /foot is not mentioned specifically. I strughle to get up on my lead leg after p5 and tend to “hang back” as TJ said, and wonder why this is. Thank you
So I’ve been kind of thinking about this concept for the last couple of weeks. Correct me if I’m wrong, but essentially you need to start the chest first and then you can “hit” with your hands but if you start your hands before the chest moves, then you’re gonna be whacked out?
Refreshing to hear so much emphasis put on “you as an individual”. I fell into a rut after watching a bunch of instruction tailored towards better players. They all tend to get too “slidey”, so a big emphasis is put on rotation for them. Meanwhile, I get absolutely 0 shift towards the target so that feel caused me to spin out even more. It makes sense because you are watching elite-level teachers, but I’ve learned that there is no blanket instruction in golf. Very refreshing to hear this!
Great advice! It feels like I'm hitting the ball so late when I do this. But I am shanking it about 50% of the time with more chest rotation. Is this likely from an open clubface?
I've got an interesting question. So, unloading makes a lot of sense, but what does "braking" feel like? I think I'm just going a bit too free through impact a bit too long and over-rotating in the follow-through (Feeling a little bit of uncomfortable lower back - nothing serious but not ideal). I assume there's a "braking" force, somewhere. Like, what I think I'm doing is either 1) Swinging too hard or 2) not using the right muscle group to stop the momentum of the club. Like, I'm not doing/feeling ANYTHING to stop the club just kinda, letting it take me and that feels maybe wrong.
Do you think the direction of the eyes/head during transition can be an effective feel to help proper pivot (thinking like DJ's looking forward during downsiwng..)
Could you explain if the point in space at the end of the release phase (which you described as up and away at 45 degrees towards the corner of the bay) moves with different length clubs. For example would the driver be released at a point nearer to the top centre of the bay/projector screen than a wedge which would be released more towards the top left corner of the bay?
I juste want to thank tou so much you change m'y golf and i like how you explain clairly yuo are a top coach i have à demande spécial i would like you to talk about Fred Couples swing and see what this Guy do so well i want you to explain this
What you showed with the swing is it mostly for irons or can you do it with the wedges and the driver and the 3 wood or is there a little change for the woods?
What’s the trail/right arm/shoulder supposed to do here? Just not get trapped behind? I find I identify more with trail/right arm feelings since it is my dominant arm.
How can I make a baseball swing “feel” work? I seem to start to spin because my shoulders seem to take over, and then it’s all down hill from there. Poor shifting, you name it!
Yes, definitely need to shift and definitely need to manage the face through wrist conditions. May need to manage com of the club during transitional phase as well, especially if you not working laterally…. Play with it and you’ll fall into some good stuff!
God I struggle so much with unloading driver…I tend to not want to get “handsy” so I’ve developed the hold on for dear life method 😆 . Any thoughts on a slight over the top from a laid off position…pulls and slices are all in play 😅😅
I finally have a better sense of what all those people who hit it so far...are hitting it so far. I could see that high left swooshing but had no idea how they got there. Thank you!
I love your guys stuff... But I don't really see either of you guys talking about your spine extending in the backswing like everyone else is these days? Is it because the lead arm will start abducting to early or is it another reason...? sorry if I was supposed to put ad instead ab... I get them confused when im tired..
We don’t emphasize ACTIVE spine extension because most people overdo that. You’ll see us talk often about back chain dominance (ribs in front of pelvis). Can extend the spine as much as you want as long as you retain that relationship. Cheers bro!
Just a way of describing positions universally. Please google “golf swing p system” and familiarize yourself with the positions. It will take you less time than watching this video!
Teaching a throwing swing, is not by positions. Position is just a picture . Way too much going on to play with position golf . You have the lower half of the body is the action. upper is the reaction. You need the ground action to explore . If one does not allow the trail arm to straighten at impact the lower will take care of most all of what needs to be done. That is when you really really fully let go and club will snap release. It is in the ground forces . You don't get a 169 mph clubhead speed by position golf.
Start of back swing weight shift into right foot with club staying in same position .My move which will take you right through to p5 automatically. Internal rotation at the same time you move the butt of the club six inches past the right foot which then pulls the left shoulder around and the arms will lift ,the hands will flip automatically into the shallowing position in to P5 . I don’t know if it’s right or wrong but l get it to p5 with out thinking . Sorry if I’ve stepped the mark. best info from this site .
Great job of adding a bunch of unnecessary complexity to an already complex physical task. I mean, you guys really have on full display exactly why people play golf for decades and never get better. It's because 99.8% of all golf instruction (including this channel) is completely ineffective. I missed the part where you gave any sort of useful information or explanation that could possibly help golfers who struggle. Maybe your instruction could refine a golfer who was already a great ball-striker, but that's pretty much it. Here's an idea. Why don't you refund all the money you took from people who came to you for help, because I bet their handicap is still just as high as when they paid you. 😂
Jeff, appreciate the input. I do assure you that we are only looking to help people play better golf. If you find this channel ineffective for you, I advise you to move on, and have a wonderful life. Hit them well!
This is excellent. You nailed me. I must confess that I’ve got that map in my mind that I’m supposed to “hit” the ball by having the energy of the arms and hands release at the point of contact. I went out today and instead tried to focus on dropping and letting the engine of the arms go first without worrying too much about the hands fulcrum. What happened? I ended up hitting one of my best 8 iron shots ever! I appreciate your channel and videos because you explain things in a way that resonates with me. Great use of technical/biomechanical terms with physical demonstrations of what to do and why. Thanks guys!! Onward and upward! Or better yet- up, drop, engine, sling!!😊🏌️♂️

I juste want to thank tou so much you change m'y golf and i like how you explain clairly yuo are a top coach i have à demande spécial i would like you to talk about Fred Couples swing and see what this Guy do so well i want you to explain this
Great idea!
So an early extender would likely see a much higher ball flight due to the early release?
What you showed with the swing is it mostly for irons or can you do it with the wedges and the driver and the 3 wood or is there a little change for the woods?
It's for all clubs but have some differences in energies and overall maps. Check out our wedges vs driver video for some insight into this question!
Can left armpit open during downturn?
Precious!
Great explanation of how to achieve that “late hit.” Thanks for sharing. 👊👊
Of course 🙏
What’s the trail/right arm/shoulder supposed to do here? Just not get trapped behind? I find I identify more with trail/right arm feelings since it is my dominant arm.
How can I make a baseball swing “feel” work? I seem to start to spin because my shoulders seem to take over, and then it’s all down hill from there. Poor shifting, you name it!
Yes, definitely need to shift and definitely need to manage the face through wrist conditions. May need to manage com of the club during transitional phase as well, especially if you not working laterally…. Play with it and you’ll fall into some good stuff!
It seems like rotating my chest first gets my swing path out to in... how do you correct that?
Maybe don’t rotate the chest first?
I am golfer that activity unload the system, where my hips slide past my lead leg. It's hard a habit to break.
Keep working at it 🙏
God I struggle so much with unloading driver…I tend to not want to get “handsy” so I’ve developed the hold on for dear life method 😆 . Any thoughts on a slight over the top from a laid off position…pulls and slices are all in play 😅😅
We’ve got a driver video that would be good 👍 I think it’s called “How to Stop Slicing Your Driver”
omg this is exactly my problem . execution of of p5 . Active hitting with arms seems so foreign 😢
Right??
Anyone know of any swing coaches that teach a similar swing theory? I'm in California near Sacramento
When i at P5 and sway left rib i feel i lost enery...may be im wrong bro?
I finally have a better sense of what all those people who hit it so far...are hitting it so far. I could see that high left swooshing but had no idea how they got there. Thank you!
Yes!
Another fantastic nugget of information! Quick Question: what is TJ's natural flight pattern? Fade, Draw, high, low? Thx, guys!
The dude hits it annoyingly straight lol
Would the legs not be the main engine?
In our system, it’s more chest 👊
I love your guys stuff... But I don't really see either of you guys talking about your spine extending in the backswing like everyone else is these days? Is it because the lead arm will start abducting to early or is it another reason...? sorry if I was supposed to put ad instead ab... I get them confused when im tired..
We don’t emphasize ACTIVE spine extension because most people overdo that. You’ll see us talk often about back chain dominance (ribs in front of pelvis). Can extend the spine as much as you want as long as you retain that relationship. Cheers bro!
Going through withdrawals. Got new videos coming soon? Best golf videos on UA-cam
Haha! Just posted one! You’re the 💣
@@elitegolfschools love it! Thanks guys!
Need a good lesson to feel this slinging/helicopter action!
Let’s go 🔥
If I start calling something a “complex” rather than “shoulder” or “hand”, will I hit the ball better?
Guaranteed
Cool. Ill give it a whirl.
🙏
Tried this with my hybrids and killed them. Having trouble with the driver with this feel
I'm sure this is what I've been doing wrong I've been losing loads of clubhead speed
Hope this helps!
Great video but I hate when the golf swing is described using the "P-scale". I don't know it. Maybe this is a me problem but I'm sure I'm not alone.
That is when you
really really fully let go and club will snap release. It is in the ground forces . You don't get a 169 mph clubhead speed by position golf.
Agreed! Dynamics are the way!
What diameter rope is that (thinking of getting something similar)?
It’s about 8ft long, not sure of the diameter
A
Start of back swing weight shift into right foot with club staying in same position .My move which will take you right through to p5 automatically.
There’s something wrong with your mics on the last few videos. Pls check
They’re a bit hot, we’re working on it
my comments keep getting flagged but love y'all!
And we love you! ❤️
I like how you translate golf to human
🙏
Let’s go Matt!! So glad it helped brother. Please continue to keep us posted!
