I have to tell you that he does this song almost at the end of the concert after like 15 songs
Some of the big ones it was more than 15 songs
I was at his their concert with 30 seconds to mars years ago (right when they announced hunting pack) and unfortunately this what not one of the songs. What still impressed me to this day is that this Charlotte stop was pretty far into what I remember being a lengthy tour and he still sounded AMAZING. My earliest memories of songs include chester and my biggest regret is not getting to see them more
Crazyyyyy
The world lost so much when Chester left. Will forever be curious as to what he would have accomplished had he chosen to stay.
“Been able to stay” would be more empathetic and accurate. Mental health associated suicide is rarely, if ever, the “choice” it’s usually termed.
@@glassasdiamonds5022 we all make choices. I respect his choice. Sometimes it’s the only option for them and I don’t knock them for making that choice. I’ve had friends make that choice and I don’t mourn them. I’m happy that the found a way to end their suffering.
@@cydrych Yes. I respect people who choose to die from cancer.
@@mikaeljacobsson1437 my uncle did. He chose not to deal with chemotherapy and radiation. I respect his choice. I also respect those who chose treatment of both cancer and depression as well as any disease. Personal choice is a wonderful thing.
I still now, find it really hard to listen to his music, knowing ill never hear anything new from him, or see him live ;(
Mike shinoda on the piano is a giant talent in his own right.
When Chester was younger, right before joining Linkin Park/early Linkin Park years, he was a recovering drug addict and also battled a hiatal hernia (part of the stomach slides above the diaphragm allowing stomach acid to flow freely into the esophagus), which he had surgically corrected eventually. He did not know how to properly use his singing voice then (aka warming up and how to do his screaming/heavy singing properly so as not to injure his vocal chords).
DONT GET ME WRONG, he still did a hell of a job in the early days! As the band continued/evolved/and gained more popularity, he started working with vocal coaches to learn “proper methods” for his type of singing that would still allow him to showcase his crazy powerful voice without causing any damage.
I was fortunate enough to see Linkin Park live when they opened for Tool at an outdoor concert in Pomona many years ago. During one song, something went wrong with mike’s (the other singer/dj) equipment and the music stopped mid-song. Chester told the crowd that some of the beats for the music were preprogrammed into Mike’s computer, normal for a dj, and that they couldn’t simply rewind the song and start again. Instead of disappointing the crowd, Chester finished the rest of the song with zero background music (no guitars or drums or beats from the computer) and he absolutely blew me away with his performance!! He sang it perfectly and I thought he sounded even better than how he sounded on their professionally produced cd. That made me go from simply liking a couple Linkin Park songs to loving their music and the band.
Chester was an extremely talented man in so many ways and the world lost a true star when he passed.
Cool, thanks for sharing 😎
I understand why you called him that but actually, Mike isn't "The DJ", that would be Mr. Hahn, who has actual turntables. Mike Shinoda is usually called "The Rapper" but the accurate description is "The Multiinstrumentalist".
ahh my voice has gotten less good since i was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia.
when chester left us the wind was knocked out of me
Chester was one in a million. One of the greatest Rock vocalists of all time. The amount of different ranges this man had is INSANE.
Professional comment, like) And what vocal range chaster in octaves?)
@@internetnickname8923 Chester Bennington has a vocal range that spanned from C2 - G#5 and was 3 octaves, 4 notes and 1 semitone wide. His vocal range was quite wide and could actually reach up to 6 octaves but in most cases he would probably not sound sensible and it would be a lot of screaming.
*Billion, if not really billions. But yes, unique and unbelievably talented to say the least
This was near the end the show, after like an hour of singing and screaming. Also, I want to say they learned to play this earlier that day. I’m pretty sure Chester had the lyrics on the floor for reference.
Not really. Chester and Mike did that cover (without piano of course) on LPU Summit in Hamburg, July 21th of 2011, which is about 2 weeks before iTunes Festival. iTunes Festival asked them to play this cover on their show at July 4th. So they was kinda prepared to do it. It wasnt the "last minute" decision (like some people wrongly thinks).
@Rose K It's pretty obvious that he did read the lyrics on the floor, there is no arguing about it.
@@PPRKUT88 wasn't the original plan for them to play QWERTY? Pretty sure they were set to and then changed it up while backstage. I remember seeing it in an LPTV
@@markc266 It was. But iTunes Festival asked them to do RITD cover. And it wasnt while backstage, it happebed before actual date of the show.
So it wasnt last hours/minutes change.
@@PPRKUT88 I remember the LPTV episode where they were working it up backstage, but it must have been Mike figuring out how to play it at that point.
Never have to feel bad gushing over Chester and Linkin Park.
"the pianist" is Mike Shinoda. he founded the band and he has a great solo career now that Chester is gone.
Underrated rapper
@@arjunvl8120 maybe because he's not black? I would do some featurings with black rappers to boost up, not that he needs it, he has the experience and background but not the recon true level.
@@IaSaVedem Fort Minor had some hits which was largely Mike Shinoda's project
Loved Fort Minor and went to his tour in 2019
Such a great artist and wonderful person!
@@AwkwardHillbilly was completely his project. He just brought up styles of beyond with him
I have been a Linkin Park fan for 20 years now and Chester has never failed to amaze me with his voice
React to Corey Taylor - Snuff (acoustic)
I wholeheartedly second this!!
Yes please!
Totally!
FUCK YEA PLZZZZZ
agree !
This guy is a genius. I'm pleased I can hear him live. Respect from Poland.
I’m Polish aswell!
Please react to "Given Up" by Linkin Park. Personally the most amazing voice range I've ever heard.
1000000000% vote for a reaction to Linkin Park - QWERTY Live in Tokyo 2006
Faint from Rock am ring 2007 is better
React to linkin park - qwerty live you’ll see his other versatile ability. Reason of why he called scream like demon, sing like an angel
Came here to recommend the same song for the same reason!
Y E S P L E A S E
it's a masterpiece for me
here is the link, use it and get your mind blown away
ua-cam.com/video/j2wbUQNh6Ao/v-deo.html
From the inside for me is the best example (i like Rock am ring 2004 version) and the best live is P5hng Me A*wy in live in texas and Faint from Rock am ring 2007
Live in Tokyo is the best
Linkin park crawling live (one more light tour) their most emotional and beautiful song
His voice was shot during that performance unfortunately
You will find a complete treasure in every Chester Bennington performance. A man so dearly loved and missed World wide...
Yay! More Linkin Park! They actually were my first ever introduction to rock music, as I'm sure they were for many people. After all this time I can finally listen to them again without feeling too sad. That said, I heard "Heavy" playing in the grocery store yesterday and got the feels again. Chester was so great, we are lucky to have witnessed him!
I can't. I'm still pissed off at him and Cornell
It makes my heart happy when people discover just how talented this man really was. #ripchester
9:18 EPIC reaction ! Like I guess, this part blown EVERYONE's mind. To me, he was the best male singer ever. What an insane voice !
Chester .... best singer ever... he saved so many lifes but in the end he coulden save his own :( He was sooooo damn talentet and so giftet
This performance is so good that 9 years later, Mike Shinoda (the guy who plays the piano here; a damn good singer himself) still remembers and talks about how amazing Chester sounded!
Also, I don't know how much you know about heavier singing styles (screaming, growling, etc.) but if you would like to hear Chester doing some of that, check out Given Up live at AOL sessions, and QWERTY live at summer sonic festival. Both amazing.
And My December live projekt revolution 2002 is also an INCREDIBLE performance!
All of these show why Chester is considered one of the greatest rock singers of all time.
He's still in my mind everyday.... That man, the band changed my life and I can't deal with the fact that it's "gone"....
Chester has one of the most beautiful voices that would reach down into your soul ... please give a soulful listen to his other work ... it was once said ...”no one like Chester could sing with the voice of an Angel and yet scream like the devil ...”
I was going to pick another song for you to enjoy ... but I couldn’t pick just one .. or ten ♥️
Im sure adele was so proud, just because a legend sang her song 💕🥰
I’ve seen a lot of covers of this song, but this one was really nice, sticking close to the original. I really like it.
Bennington, Staley, Cornell- so emotive that listening to them feels like voyeurism, an invasion of something so deeply personal it should remain private. Technique aside, this level of public vulnerability has to be draining. Have to wonder if empaths’ gift is also their burden and curse. RIP. (Pls React to “Into the Mystic” by Van Morrison)
@@Madison.CRUZ. Thanks for your comment. We may be discussing different aspects. In any case, hope we can agree that “reactors” like Lavigne and Rick Beato manage to be respectful & informative.
Chester is sorely missed. His soul and heart are there in his music. Rest in Power Chester. Love you
There are 2 sides of Chester. This was the angel, he had a lot of demons too. Please listen/react to 'Given up' by Linkin Park. RIP Chester.
I never before realised it was possible to add so much raw emotion to that already plenty emotional song... May Chester R.I.P.
Chester is a man whom saved my life through his music, vocals and soul.
I wish we could have helped saved his and seen or heard his cries earlier
But his vocals and music is immortalised within us forever
And I thank him for that
Miss you CB 🤘
There's video with a longer intro somewhere, where Chester sings in the wrong key at first, but Mike corrects him.
Definitely take a look at Linkin Park - Given Up - Live AOL Sessions. Best display what he was capable of.
One of the best parts (which this video cut out) is when he sang the first line, but then Mike called him over and had him change the key
8:45 haha thats hilarious, I have in no way any Musical knowledge like that but now I heard how Mike resync'ed himself.
The reason Chester was late there was because he knew the 3rd verse the least good that hes trying to read the lyrics of the ground (They have those white lyric sheets on the ground and you can see Chester reading from it quite the whole way through but extra carefully on the 3rd verse. btw. They only did this song once at a summit and rehearsed it only a bit before the show, it was super spontanious and such a masterpiece
Oh shut the fuck up
@@GcB1337 wasn't talking to you but sure join in I guess
@@GcB1337 okay dude
wrr
It’s true, if you watched the full version, Chester even came in too high at first and they had to restart!
I liked, if I did not know the original I'll propably think it is a Chester song, I miss him 💔
A vocal talent was lost us when Bennington passed - just simply amazing live. Vale Chester. :)
"Christmas just came early, thank you Chester" my mind immediately: "Are you sure it was just the Christmas that came early?" lolololol
Chester was a beautiful human. 10/10
I had never seen this, he was so amazing 🤩
this is an amazing cover. Chester was a brilliant performer and a true shining light.
speaking of covers: ANYTHING by Leo Moracchioli from Frog Leap Studios!!!
(especially Hello, Africa and Dance Monkey)
You have to understand Chester gave EVERYTHING . This is after MANY songs. Unreal.
Two covers, that for me are every bit as good - if not better than the originals, are this one with Chester...he made it his song for this night in time. The second is Sound of Silence by Disturbed - which for me is head and shoulders above the original...just way more powerful and raw - and I love that.
Goosebumps everytime ❤️
I adoooore your reactions, love it when you get all gushy! (and Linkin Park too, one of my early loves...)
Possibly one of my favourite covers ever. Chester was an amazing vocalist.
The absolute best vocals I've ever heard from Chester are QWERTY live at Summer Sonic in 2006. You might want to watch it as well, it is so crazy, what he is able to do with his voice
From the inside from Rock am ring 2004 and Faint from RAR 2007 are better for me
I'm going to start using the phrase "Ah sweet creamy eggnog." 😂😂😂
That's brilliant!!!
You're literally becoming my favorite voice coach' reactor here! After oggie boggie I just subscribed as quick as I did!
Your reaction was the best I've ever seen and I'm subscribing for that. Thank you
RIP Chester, the guy had an amazing voice
I want to give more than one like! Thank you for remembering me of this song and thank you for sharing this amazing reaction with us.
Been binge watching your stuff today and i love the channel my man!! You see like a super cool dude!!
omg... you need to react to so much more Linkin Park.... Chester was one of the greatest singers we had
Mike Shinoda was trying to keep Chester on point, but admitted later that he was actually getting distracted. He is the epitome of a rock star.
The world lost a one of a kind talent with Chester
Such an underrated singer. RIP Chester
not really only bc he came in the nu metal era. Imo and many others agree that he’s the best ever.
Chester is everything but underrated
Yea.. not even close. He was every where. He was involved in some many things. Take a youtube journey when you have time.
What? Underrated? Chester is one of the best singers ever. Everyone know about this.
I've never heard Chester sing like that, i'm astounded.
I have been lurking for some time now watching your videos whenever i can. Not only are they informative and educational but entertaining as well. However this one made me sub. Fantastic reaction.
Great job with your reaction and analysis of Rolling In The Deep Covered by Linkin Park .
"SWEET CREAMY EGGNOG!" "Christmas came early" LOLOL!!!!
Love and miss Chester, RIP Mr Bennington ❤️
a few singers can make me cry and Chester is one of them. It is so sad that he gone.
Linkin park breaking the habit live smokeout festival 2003,first time they performed the song live
(Mike Shinoda wrote this song about chester for his drug and alcohol addiction)
Very emotional performance
Love your background!!
The man with a magical voice..... Chester Charles Bennington
Awesome! You have to check out Linkin Park's Given Up live at Clarkston 2007
That first replication of the “all” note was really nice. First vocal coach I’ve actually liked the voice of
How sad..the world will
Never hear this talented
Musician ever again.....
RIP Chester bennington
This is a great rendition..
Sometimes I still feel like Chester is still here and every time I watch his performances I want to check for the next tour dates. RIP Chester
Been watching for a minute, but just subbed today. Love the content!
By the way, in the spirit of inspirational metal/rock vocalists like Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden, if you haven't seen it you really owe it to yourself to check out the live version of Misguided by Dio, 1977. it's longer at roughly 10 minutes but it's one of the most compelling live performances I've seen in any genre.
He reminds me of Chris Cornell sometimes when he hits high notes
They were also good friends
RIP both Chris and Chester
Sing like an angel, screams like a demon - Chester B❤
christmas came early this year... and so did Ken :D , great song, great reaction
Your reaction was great
What a great performance.
Sad and beautiful. My kids and I listen to both Adele and Chester.
Loved your reaction and hearing your professional opinion.
I'm glad you enjoyed it and would love to see more reactions to Linkin Park and Chester from you.
Personally, their whole perfomance at iTunes 2011 might be my favourite concert of theirs, so I'd definitley recommend watching that :D
Don't be sad because Chester left, let's be thankful because he was here, thanks for his life, his voice and talent 🤘🏼🎶
Chester's voice is so pure. He sings like an angel and screams like the devil. RIP Chester. #MakeChesterProud
I remember the day this was uploaded on youtube. I remember thinking "OMG, I am witnessing a timeless classic that just came out aren't I?". Boy I was right.
thanks!!!
He has been my musical angel, same as Freddie.
Immagine a duo with two guys.
The lyrics of their master piece are just so deep and describe life. I miss you Chester.
9:40 Well imagen he can hold that tone pretty easy. I don't know if you saw given up live in texas. He holds a scream for 15 seconds after he sung pretty loud. This man was loved and talented to the sky and back.
Thanks Ken I love this cover, also enjoyed you in my math 11 class.
WE LOVE HIM AND MISS HIM SO SO MUCH. 🙏💔.
REST IN PEACE CHESTER.👑💝🎵
YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN OUR HEARTS. 👏💝
Your face at 9:17, that's how I've been listening to LP for 20 years. Chester is an absolute talent. Tragic tragic loss
Chester and Mike is a Gem 💎
Goosebumps
Old video recommendation. Chester was a treasure when i was growing up. Also, as a dad, i approve of the rolling in the deep pun
Listen to Chester sing through tears with the live performance of One More Light he did in honor of Chris Cornell. It's hauntingly beautiful and will stick with you for days afterward.
Hey Ken, new to your channel, "one more light" you will love it, I believe it was Chester's goodbye...RIP Chester, the struggle and pain are over...Jeannie in Lakeport California
You should really check out Seether's cover of "Careless Whisper".
You are perfect as you are too - don't be hard on yourself ❤️
6:17 his expression emoting the note was priceless, he was really enjoying this. Good video
RIP Chester.
We miss you.
Chester is true talent. RIP Chester.
I humbly request pushit by tool. Live version
Scenes!! Very insightful and educative commentary for amateurs like me that don´t really catch those litlle details. Very good.
As beautiful as this is, if you really want to trip out about Chester switching vocals, do a reaction to QWERTY live at Sonic fest 2006 in Japan.
Chester ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Another one that was too good for us. I was supposed to go to his last gig in Birmingham UK and couldn’t in the end and I’m absolutely gutted that I couldn’t see them 😢🖤
